After a few years, I had to write an update based on my experience so far. Before getting my front porched leveled out, I had my condenser installed. I told Sam Urso about it and he said it wasn't a problem and that his team can temporarily store the condenser while we get our front leveled out (3 days of work). So by the time I was ready to get work done on my front porch, my wife called Urso to get in touch with Sam. He was super rude and had no idea what we were talking about. We told him that he ensured us that he could do it (during installation), but with a charge (obviously). But he proceeded to say they don't do that which means he blatantly lied to us. He should have just told us this from the beginning so that we would have rearranged our installation schedule. Another incident was May 2025 (3 years after installation), they called me to say that I have a pending invoice for HERS and permit test. The payment part wasn't a big deal, but I have a problem with the fact that they told me 3 years later. I thought this was very unprofessional and had to remove 2 stars from my original rating. They were super nice at the beginning to get your business, but once they already got your business, it seems like they could care less about professionalism. read more

I've been meaning to write my review to inform others of my experience with Urso and finally got the chance. Our Mitsubishi mini split systems for our beach home in Manhattan Beach were installed from March 24-26, 2025. The condenser had to be placed on the roof of our house since there was no other place to put it. Urso told us they put condensers on roofs all the time. Both Barbara and Brandon assured us that permits would be issued promptly and that it was safe to move forward without an approved permit--as long as the application had been submitted. I specifically raised concerns about proceeding without an approved permit, but I was repeatedly told it would not be an issue. Unfortunately, that proved to be completely untrue. Once the installation was complete, Urso pressured us for full payment. After we paid, their responsiveness dropped significantly, and they provided very little support in helping us finalize the permit. They subcontract the permitting work to We Green, and whenever we followed up about delays, Urso simply blamed We Green instead of taking responsibility. They also tried to blame the city for dragging their feet. But when we contacted the city planning office, they said they were still waiting on items from We Green. As a customer who hired and paid Urso for the project, we expected them to ensure that all permits and inspections were completed without unnecessary delays. Our permit was not issued until nearly six months later, on September 10. During this process, the city required a Structural Engineering Report and a rooftop screen for the condenser. Urso acted like it was their first time getting a permit for rooftop placement of a condenser. When we asked Urso to recommend a structural engineer they had worked with previously, they said they had no one and told us to "google one online." Regarding the required rooftop screen, Brandon initially told us Urso could install it, but later the owner, Will, informed us we would need to find our own contractor. We felt completely on our own throughout the permitting process--constantly emailing and calling the city ourselves to understand next steps. Urso provided no real guidance or support once they had been paid. If you need your HVAC system properly permitted, I strongly do not recommend using Urso. Or if you have no other choice, do not pay them or have them start until the permit process is completed. That said, I do want to acknowledge two individuals who were helpful. Victory, who was assigned to our account toward the latter half of the permitting process, returned our calls and emails--something the rest of the office staff failed to do. And Gus, the operations manager, was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable during installation (wish he had done the work himself but unfortunately he was in and out of the job site as he supervised the workers). Unfortunately, these positive interactions did not outweigh the overall experience. We were also disappointed with two out of the four mini-split head installations. The ceiling-mounted head had drywall cut too wide, resulting in a sloppy finish that they tried to fix with caulking. On another unit, they installed a square pump beneath the system without informing us beforehand, and the plastic cut was uneven with a noticeable gap. They acknowledged the cut was "cut funny" and told us they would replace the plastic cover, but they never followed through. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience from start to finish. While a few staff members were professional and responsive, the lack of support, accountability, and quality from the company as a whole is why I cannot recommend Urso. read more

We had a new HVAC system installed in 2020, and since it was installed the heater rarely worked--the original installer couldn't figure it out, nor could 3 other HVAC companies we had look at it over the years. Apparently our furnace is an Ultra-Low Nox system and they're very finicky. Urso Air was recommended to us and the person on the phone was very knowledgeable about these systems and sent Ryan out to take a look. He identified the issue, replaced a part under its warranty and now our heater works. Ryan and the folks at the office were professional, easy to talk to and engage with, which is rare these days. We are extremely satisfied with their work and will call them in the future if we need more help with our temperamental furnace! read more

I give an enthusiastic 5 stars to Urso Air for multiple reasons. First, Abel was professional, informative, friendly, and helpful when he came out for the initial estimate on a new HVAC system. We explored multiple options to improve the upstairs air flow. He was great at explaining everything. Chris and his team did the install. He was super nice and also great at explaining everything they were doing and answering any of my questions. Unfortunately, there were some complications with a slab leak that was not Urso Air's fault. Sam came out to troubleshoot and was extremely helpful in coming up with a solution for a new line that would meet my strict HOA guidelines. They were wonderful about doing the additional line, scheduling quickly and getting the job done. I am 100% satisfied with my new HVAC system and the dampers they put in to divert more air upstairs where it gets hotter. Overall, everyone, including the office staff, was polite, personable, patient, professional and produced high quality work at a reasonable price. Urso Air installed our new Furnace and A/C this past week. We chose Urso for their high ratings, and were sold after talking to Brandon about the installation and products. The installers, Angel and Jesse, were professional and kind, easy to talk to, and took all the time we wanted to explain the process and follow through with questions. Sam Urso himself came out today to take care of some final details and make certain our system was humming along and we understood how both our air and heating would function going forward. He reiterated many times to reach out if we had any additional questions or if we wanted any adjustments to the new system. My experience with Urso was initially a HUGE miss. My community hired Urso to remove all our AC units as a part of a large roofing project. The project lasted over a month and the men from Urso RIPPED my brand new unit out and poorly installed it back. The initial removers were cursing a lot as they were having trouble removing my unit for the roofers. I tried speaking with them through the open duct and they completely ignored my request pretending not to hear me. I heard a lot of their inappropriate banter as they continued to talk about (past crimes, personal relationships, drug use, etc). Voices echo in condomiums and you can clearly hear conversations the workers have on the roof. I gave the company a second chance and followed up with them. Then they sent out Gus and Ryan. Immediately my experience with this company changed. I am so impressed with Gus and Ryan's attention to detail and customer focused satisfaction. They were friendly, professional, & experienced! When Gus came on the scene he immediately restored my unit to working condition and helped fix my thermostat. My pictures show the before and after with the mesh missing and duct with holes were fixed by Ryan who re-did the duct work and added the mesh net. Not sure the names of the guys who did the initial removal & install but if you get Gus or Ryan they are very good at their job. Extra training on professionalism and internal performance reviewing may be required to help address the individuals who did the poor quality initial removal and installation. But because of Gus and Ryan I am promoting my review to 4-stars, they were truly outstanding in making amends. read more

I have used URSO for 20 years on misc rental issues eg AC, Heating. They always came when promised , fixed the problem when others just said "unfixable-I'll sell you a new unit...." So I trusted them. Bear in mind, I think they were smaller then. Fast forward to November 2025 when a 60 year old furnace was at its time for retirement. I bid it out to a few including URSO... Just because I knew it would cost more than a fix and a fresh air return had to be installed in the house.. Vic in the office followed up on the quote.... Very helpful ! Abel looked at the job... Ryan looked at the job... They answered all my questions. I gave the job to them and they did a good job figuring out where the fresh air return would go, with minimal "closet" loss. Thx to Abel and the install lead.. Anyway the install crew of 3 were great... All the people I mentioned were great and as far as I can see, the unit works great and distributes warm air evenly thru each register.. My point is- I think they are a bigger company now, however the way they treated my job just seemed the same as 20 years ago.. That's something special ! read more

It took a few calls to get someone to come over to our house in Palos Verdes. One of the women who answers the phone is amazing. The other one is OK. We had issues with our ducts being damaged under the house after we had our pool installed last year. I was given a $1800 quote to replace some of the ducts. My 80 year old dad ended up doing it himself. But, he said it was a lot of work, so I guess it was fair. read more

I had a few jobs done by Urso, including initial inspection for estimates by SAM who is an awesome person and professional. The front office of BARBARA and GINA are attentive, who returns calls and emails promptly along with answering any questions and coordinating the work. I had a new furnace, air conditioning and new duct work done in my history with Urso. I was referred to Urso by my real estate agent, Helen... I found the best referrals come from her, as a real estate agent vendor companies rely upon their word of mouth new business development as a great source of getting customers and new work. Any vendor who disappoints a client referred by a real estate agent are cutting their own throats, so you usually get quality work, fair pricing and respectful communication. It's really competitive out there, as well as confusing, not knowing who's good, bad, expensive or "you get what you pay for" cheap. Urso is a family run business from what I understand. I've referred them business via Facebook and here with this Yelp Review as my testimonials for their service stands as "Recommended" at minimum you need to call them for a quote to compete and compare to others you're looking at using for HVAC (I think that stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) whether you need your furnace for heat or air conditioning to keep cool, year 'round they're ones you should look into by calling. The staff assigned to my separate projects on both occasions were very polite, professional, and friendly. They arrived promptly, seemed to work efficiently without much down-time (as in my case for one of the projects I was to be charged for the work on an hourly time clock basis), delays nor dilly-dallying. These guys were very respectful and pretty much awesome workers, CHRIS G and JESUS P (with Jesus being a repeat performer having worked on another phase of my projects with Urso previously, doing a stellar job too!) They service the South Bay Beach Cities and I'd assume, the surrounding area and are worth calling to see if they can help address, resolve and fix your needs. They're experts and can diagnose your problem and many times give you various options (as sometimes fixing things are price sensitive for budgets) as well as explain everything to you. read more

I can say without hesitation the best subcontractor that we had was URSO Air. From the start URSO figured out the best way to add air conditioning to 110 year old building (impressing our mechanical and electrical engineers). Once the plans were approved, they executed the installation quickly and efficiently. The installers solved any challenges that came up without drama or upcharges - even helping other sub contractors on-site so that we could finish on time. I used Urso to install a 24,000 btu Mitsubishi Mini Split AC and I am so happy with everything. I live near the beach but my living room is just unbearable on warm days. Anthony came out for the estimate and helped me figure out the logistics as I live on a 2nd story duplex. Of the 3 other estimates I got, Urso was one of the most competitive, but their knowledge and communication sold me. Danny and Jesus did the install, they were on time, professional and so nice, they cleaned up everything perfectly. I'm now sitting in my cool living room. So thankful. They were responsive, courteous and professional and gave us a very fair quote. They also handled all of the permits and inspections, which made it easy for us. CRAP... another Urso review! Per usual my friends at Urso were quick to get me into their rotation and fix my most recent AC dilemma. I spoke with Barbara who is always pleasant and helpful when it comes to coordinating the job at hand. This is the first time I worked with technician Sam who is colorful and skilled, I appreciated our discussions on life AND the job at hand. I had a fairly new compressor go on the fritz, Sam did what he could to resuscitate it, unfortunately with no luck. Sam/Urso took the initiative to contact the compressor company and seek some sort of restitution, but it was just outside the warranty. In the end, Sam replaced the compressor and got my unit back up and running as promised. I had another professional experience with the folks at Urso, which is a family owned business with longstanding San Pedro/South Bay ties. Sam came out on a Saturday to assess an older floor heater that stopped working and tried a minor repair to see if it would resolve the problem at minimal cost. Unfortunately that didn't work so he made arrangements to come back again and replace the necessary parts. Heater works good as new now. Urso installed our central air conditioning 4 years ago. 2 years in we started having problems with our AC. Our compressor was super loud, the vents are leaking water because they didn't install the drain correctly and several other issues. They were never available to come check it out and quoted an insane amount to just follow up on their job. Just recently we started our AC started emanating a rotten eggs smell and we called another technician to check it out. They pretty much said we needed a new compressor as the electricals were not done correcly which has caused the coils to burn , and hence the smell. They also showed us the drain issue which was causing the leak in vents. read more

We bought a new (old) house in South Shores, and used a contractor to remodel it. We decided to have A/C installed (global warming here we come!) and we went with the contractor's moonlighting HVAC buddies. They installed a new system, bud did a basic, rudimentary job at best. They left us with some issues, poor performance, high noise, etc. So we contacted Urso to take a look. Anthony came out, inspected and assessed our problems, and diagnosed the biggest problem as an air intake that was too small for our furnace... ouch! That explains why the previous guys had partially removed the cover on the front of the furnace/AC fan which says "this door must be in place - carbon dioxide danger"... so it could suck in more air. Our furnace is in the attic, so it was sucking in 100+ degree air from the attic and cooling that, not drawing already partially cooled air from the living space in our house... no wonder it struggled to cool the house. So, we had to rip a larger hole for the new, wider intake. Anthony, Jesus, and Matiaz did the work, and they did an excellent job -- there was hardly any visible damage. And the whole system was quieter and much more efficient after they did the work, which also included installing a proper water drain and adjusting the flow of air to various parts of the house. Excellent job, on-time, courteous, etc., would definitely recommend Urso. read more

URSO Air was coming to my house to estimate replacing heater/AC duct and the day before they were scheduled to come my AC stopped working (9/5 ) - I contacted URSO air and spoke to Barbara about my problem and she told me that Sam who was coming to my house could take care of both issues and she said don't worry you will have AC tonight and she was right - Sam repaired the AC and checked out the duct work situation and was finished within an hour - URSO Air was a great find and I am using them for the duct work as well as any other Heating/AC issues that I may have to include new equipment Thank you URSO air read more

Our air conditioner started leaking water inside the cabinet a few days ago. About a cup of water my husband got using his shop vac. I started searching on nextdoor because I remembered reading several posts where people where looking for a good..honestly air conditioning company to come out and give us an estimate...I decided to call URSO AIR. So many 5 star reviews for this local company right off Gaffey. I don't remember the young ladies name that I spoke to but she was so helpful. I explained what was happening. She totally understood what the problem probably was because it is a common issue with air conditioners here in the gardens. I've seen their truck several times throughout the Gardens too. She offered a better deal suggesting us to buy a preventive maintenance package for $139.95. It covers them blowing out the line inside, checking our outside air conditioner...freon..took cover off and cleaned the coils and debris...he brought in this huge canister, hooked it up to the line that takes the condensation from the inside unit to the outside pipe. When he hooked it up it blew all kinds of stuff out. He did it several time until nothing but air was coming out. The technicians name was Sergio. I asked a lot of questions and he was very clear with his answers. He is a skilled tradesman in his profession. We are thinking of replacing our whole heating and air conditioner unit later on down the line. It's working perfectly now...I just would like to replace it with a quiet one..it's so noisy compared to newer models. So if I could give URSO AIR 10 star review I would. Very impressed. read more
