The absolute best fried calamari I've had. So fresh, cooked perfectly, great view and quick service!

Today was the first day at the harbor crab and I was very impressed with the food quality. I ordered the fire island salad that came with large servings of crab and lobster meat over greens... it was fantastic and fresh... no super salty taste... the fra diavlo mussels we enjoyed as well a little small but I believe it's due to season... the sauce was great tho I wish I coulda drank it hahaha. My wife enjoyed the paradise salad ... everything was fresh and great. We will be returning me and the "Thai" calamari have a date.... read more

Perfect lunch on a stormy MLK Day Monday. Food is delicious, we had steak tidbits, fish and chips, shrimp and fried calamari. All perfectly prepared and super fresh. Was in the area last night and decided to stop in for a visit. We were seated on the second floor in the floating dock/boat area. This place is like so many other kitschy tiki themed seafood joints. Two bar areas, one dead and the other rocking because they had a band. Several different seating areas all cheaply nautically decorated but that's kind of the point. I was slightly disappointed in the menu. Having the name crab, I assumed they would have a more prominent place on the menu. Aside from soup , cakes and crab legs, there wasn't a whole lot more and my heart was set on stone crabs. Ordered the lobster roll which was quite good and had a Bloody Mary, also yummy. If I wasn't almost 70 miles away I would probably visit them again. Sadly, being geographically undesirable, I probably won't return. Solid 3 Stars. read more

We haven't been to this restaurant in a couple of years so we thought it was time to return. BIG MISTAKE. Did I say big mistake? Just wanted to be sure. First parking is a little difficult. Big enough parking lot but only partially paved and very little organization to parking methods. As you approach the entry it looks really nice. Tall Palm trees in planters at the entrance. Gives a real tropical look which we like and the anticipation of a good dinner. It's all downhill from here. My wife ordered surf & turf. That's steak and lobster $46 . Ha ha. I don't know how they did it but lobster was like rubber and our guess freezer burned. A seafood restaurant with freezer burned lobster? Shame #1. She showed it to the waitress who apologized and went to the kitchen to get another. 20 minutes later a new lobster tail came out. Ten times worse than the first.Shame #2. She had me try a piece. Most disgusting lobster I ever had. Again freezer burn but nearly raw this time. She ended up wrapping it in her napkin, ala "Seinfeld" episodes with mutton, and taking it to the bathroom to flush. I had something they call Seafood Supreme. Shrimp (3) pieces, (4) scallops, minuscule amount of crab meat, I think, (2) small clams, and a bunch of mussels ( many empty shells), over pasta. Again old freezer burned seafood. It appears that the bar was pretty busy. I guess if you're only interested in drinking but not eating you might consider this dump. Yelp has to revise their policy about a one star minimum for this place. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!! read more

I finally came here for dinner, rather than brunch/lunch. We had reservations for 7pm and were seated just about at that time. We were given a table on the boat upstairs right, so it was a pretty spot. That's one thing about here that I think is the best- the view. The drinks were strong but the fishbowls were pretty tiny. Our waiter did the job but he was definitely helping others and running around because it was super busy. They had a live band playing downstairs. I enjoyed it but some might find it too loud during their dinner. However, they didn't play for the entire time we were there's. My meal wasn't the best. I got a speciality entree (prosciutto and asparagus with chicken and mashed potatoes). The mashed potatoes weren't thickened enough and the chicken wasn't anything special to me. I think this place would be great to hang out at the bars and listen to some good live music on the water. I didn't enjoy the dining experience too much. It's also a seafood based restaurant, which I don't eat, so that might have something to do with my thoughts. Oh and last thing thing! If you have older people with you or someone who has trouble with stairs, don't sit on the boat because then you have to go all the way downstairs and through the restaurant for the bathrooms. read more

A personal favorite for a special casual lunch or dinner. The food is a must try. Start with the crab and spinach dip, served in its own fresh baked bread bowl. Serves more than 2! The Italian calamari a must try in the nice spicy red sauce. The steam pot was a hit today, very generous portions. It's a get your hands covered in crab and butter experience but worth it . Was excited to come here, waited over an hour and was told that the front lady bringing customers to their table already took care of everybody after CLEARLY seeing us. Afrerwards, the same young lady brought us to our table infested with moths and spiders all over. It was DISGUSTING. I don't know how this place can even stay open with all the bugs crawling on the table and on the lights above us. Sat down, reviewed the menu and asked one of the girls if we could get our server. She said "let me get your server for you" walked to the back and swear to god she just turned back around and did not call our server. It took is 30+ minutes to get water and another 30 to get food. This is ridiculous and a complete waste of time. Food was mediocre at best. Probably wouldn't waste my time coming here again or ever if its your first time. read more

Went to check out the Big Revival band. The acoustics in the enclosed bar area where they were set up were not too conductive; way too loud for any type of conversation to take place. Love the band though! This place is set up for a warm weather outdoor vibe and would be far more enjoyable in the spring and summer months then it was on a cold Saturday evening in November. The furniture is for the outdoors and there's not much in the way of ambience; overall the place looks dated. The hostess was easily overwhelmed and not very friendly. Our waitress was super nice and made up for it. Food is A-OK. No complaints no big compliments. We enjoyed the large pretzel appetizer the most of anything. Key lime pie was quite good too. Main entrees overpriced; fries were all frozen, not fresh cut. We averaged $45 pp which is hefty for 2 drafts beers each, a burger and either a dessert or appetizer pp. There is parking on site; my navigation app indicated otherwise and made it seem like we'd need to park at the nearby railroad station but that wasn't the case. Would probably only return to see the band again and in the warmer weather. read more

On the water, mediocre food.... We have not had dinner here recently but have been here many times. Food is always just okay, nothing special. We come because it's a boating destination. The only reason we return here is for the water accessibility. It is at the north end of Patchogue River and we can arrive by boat. The view from the upper level boat house is very nice and perfect for socializing over a drink. The food is not great although on this last visit, my husband and I shared the Coconut Shrimp appetizer and it was cooked perfectly. Our friend had the seafood salad plate and the salads were heavy on the mayonaise. After a drink or two and a light snack, it's back on the boat to finish our Great South Bay cruise. Not terrible, just not a special destination. If I didn't go by boat, I would not make a special trip by car. There are too many great restaurants in the area. We visited the restaurant today for the first time. It's very simple, but with an obvious beach vibe. The service was courteous and we did not have to wait to be served. I had the Seafood Supreme, my husband had the crab cakes. Delicious food, exquisite wine, definitely the place that I will return and bring family and friends. False Advertising. "Lobsters 2 for 1 on Thursday". My mother and I went on a Thursday and ordered the 2 for 1 lobsters. The deal only applies if you are ONE person... Not even deserving of 1 star. This place needs to just LET IT GO. Give up and close down already. It has the absolute worst decor I've ever seen even AFTER the remodel. It's not pleasant, inviting or comforting at all. It's not small but the low ceilings and hideous decor make the place extremely cramped and has a very dirty feel to it. The wood paneling and carpeting are horrendous. The dining-on-the-stationary-boat idea, has got to be the worst business move in the history of restaurateurs. It's basically picnic tables on a boring boat that just sits there. The entire thing is so awkward because the kitchen is in the restaurant... NOT ON THE BOAT! So waiters and food runners and walking back and forth and it just makes no sense. Additionally, the food is just expensive garbage. Typically we visit this restaurant in the summer. We went last night, in the dead of winter and it had such a nice vibe! It was so nice to sit overlooking the water and the atmosphere made us feel like summer isn't too far away! As always, food was great and wait staff was super attentive too. We have a slight (ok maybe more than slight) bias towards this place because it is where we came for our first date! We returned after 2.5years for dinner Saturday night and sat upstairs on the "boat." It was a nice high top table but unfortunately without the best view. Additionally, there were a LOT of spiders around the edge of the "interior" part of the upper deck, which we were far enough removed from that they were not on top of us, but close enough that I was fixated in watching them. Kinda spoils the "mood" a bit. We shared the crab and spinach dip as an appetizer. It is served in a bread bowl and comes with tortilla chips. We really enjoyed the flavor of this. For our main we split an order of mussels (as that is what we had on our first date). That time we had the white wine so this time we tried the fra diavolo. This was seasoned well and very flavorful without being too spicy! We had saved the bread bowl from our appetizer and it was excellent dipping bread! To drink, my boyfriend had Bud Light, which they had as a special for $2 mugs. (This special is offered daily through the summer.) I had a one of the signature potions cocktails, the "Cool Cumber," cucumber vodka, st germain, pineapple, and lime juice. These are priced $12/drink, and was quite strong and refreshing. Everyone needs to come back and re-review, here's why.... I have dined here in years past and not been thrilled. However, I have come back and had great meals more then once more recently. Tonight, I was with three friends. We dined on the floating dock on a beautiful night and had a delicious meal. Live music was playing in the background. They have drink specials every night. Tonight, Thursday, is $15 for a 30 oz. Margarita! Not too shabby!! For an app, we had fried calamari with the Asian style sauce. It's like a spicy thai chili sauce. Really tasty. Then for dinner my friends split a lobster roll which came with really perfectly seasoned and crispy fries. For my dinner I ordered steamed lobster To my surprise, on Tuesday and Thursdays lobster dinner is 2 for 1!!! Delicious lobster! One star removed here bc the sides that came with the lobster were clearly after thoughts. It was mediocre potatoes and bland corn. We arrived early for our reservation and it took 25-30 minutes before our server came to us. The drinks we ordered (Mai Tai and Miami Vice) had no alcohol in them. In those first 30 minutes we received no water or bread. The lobster bisque did not taste like lobster bisque. It was very thick, like oatmeal instead of a soup. The coconut shrimp appetizer was $16.00 dollars and it came with four small shrimps - $4.00 dollars a shrimp. Our server only stopped at our table to drop an order off. Such a cute place! My first time here and it happened to be the perfect night to sit outside for dinner so we were seated up on the boat overlooking the water. The menu had a few ciders that sounded interesting but apparently they don't have them anymore so that was disappointing. Their mixed drinks sounded very good but I didn't want all the sugar so I just stuck to my usual Diet Coke and rum. We split the appetizer special-mini Shrimp egg rolls in a Thai chili sauce-amazing!! They weren't greasy at all like most egg rolls and I love that they were mini (psychologically guilt free). For the entree I got the kale and quinoa salad and added in shrimp-it was huge and scrumptious! I took half home for dinner but I especially love that there was a semi healthy option on the menu-I'm not a huge seafood lover aside from shrimp so usually waterside dining is tough for me to find something good but this place did not disappoint! Hopefully I'll be back before the end of season! Parking lot isn't the best tho-looks like it might be difficult on a Friday or Saturday night to find a spot...also the bathroom is uncomfortably small, considering how large the restaurant is, I think they could have added a couple of feet to the women's room read more

As other Yelpers have stated, the mariner view is the main attraction at this very outdated place. Every summer, when I return for another try, hoping there would be (even a minor) renovation or update-- nope, nada, nothing. It's still the same dumpy looking place with the same unappealing menu. The raw clams were great, with the key word being RAW. Any item that is cooked or prepared shows signs of unaccomplished and inexperienced cooks, with no attention to detail, let alone any level of culinary skills. But to be fair, they are being trained & directed by the owners. The skimpy 1 1/4 lobster was okay, but it was served with watered down butter, something I have never experienced anywhere. The corn was completely water logged, lacking in any flavor or crunch. Fresh corn on Long Island is always so good & sweet, but not when it is over-boiled. Note to the chef: Have a pot of boiling water going & just drop the corn in for a minute. Dessert? No thanks!! I enjoyed my ice cream at Kilwin's! So that's it for this summer...I'll try you again next year, with the hope that the restaurant itself and the food have been improved & updated. read more

We went on Wednesday night. Part one- Before we arrived, I called to see what time the band started (on their website it said there was a band playing on that day), they told me 7. Well, there was NO band. They told me that sometimes there is a DJ on Wednesdays but he went back to college. Lol Part 2- we ordered our food, men ordered steaks, girls ordered lobster rolls. Lobster rolls were horrible! The rolls themselves had charded marks but were totally microwaved for warmth. By the time I was 1/2 way done the roll was hard and rubbery at the same time. "GROSS". Walk right passed a lobster tank and if you chose to dine outside you walk right passed a bar and tables set up out there. Great scenery if you love a marina! (Which I love) waitress was awesome . So we got our drinks my fiancé ordered her red wine sangria which she totally loved and I'm usually hard headed and love my Stella ! Lol . Harbor crab is extremely generous with the bread and butter! I mean half a loaf as some places give you couple slices! I ordered my crab and corn chowder. That was delicious just thinking about it right now makes me want some! So me and my fiancé are always on the search for the best fried calamari! So we had to order it! It was perfect! Wasn't rubbery wasn't bland it was just that good. I have to put that on my top 5! I didn't like the topping on it was like chopped olive or pepper didn't really try it but gave couple pieces a soggy texture but ate it! And then I ordered my lobster roll.... I've been to some places in Suffolk county where you have more bun than the actual lobster meat and I feel like it's not worth even giving those places a second chance! So back to this lobster roll! It was a perfect ratio between lobster meat and bun! The lobster meat you can taste it the texture was awesome wasn't hard to chew was over powered but mayo and seasoning and the bun was grilled toasted to perfection!
