We love the resort, we have visited many times. I meant to post this a while ago, but we aren't able to go this year and suddenly made me realize I never hit post on this! Harbortown Point is truly so special. The kitchen staff are so kind and make amazing home made bread, treats, and execute the hotel menu perfectly. They really do everything they can to make you feel at home! They made me a birthday treat last year which was just the best and really made things feel special! The homemade baked goods are also to die for! The rooms are gorgeous and they really thought of everything when designing them. I've never once thought "oh I wish they had this or that," because they literally included everything you could possibly need. The pool and hot tub are exquisite. The views are wonderful. Birds of all kinds fill the trees in the courtyard area that the hotel encircles. If you are lucky enough to get a harbor view, you will see sea birds, sea lions, and maybe even dolphins. We are missing this place this year, but can't wait to be back next year. It really is such a gem. What a lovely property and fantastic location! We were able to exchange through our DVC membership and I was SO EXCITED to see this location had availability during the annual Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights & Fireworks(separate review) weekend. We spotted this location last year when we were walking around the Ventura Harbor area for exercise, but discovered it is an owner-based/timeshare property. Previous Yelp reviews expressing disappointment that they could not change rooms when they could tell not all units were occupied may not understand the logistics and booking procedure for a owner-based resort property. That being said, when I booked through our exchange, I was confirmed with room #306, then found a map of the property online to see what type of view we may have. Not lucky enough to get a Harborside View room, but we were VERY happy with our "balcony in the trees". The reason I'm not committing to 5 stars is the tiny bed and the compact fridge. I think the bed is listed as a Queen, but it felt smaller than that. We could've elected to utilize the Queen pullout sofa, but didn't want to hassle with putting it away each day for the use of the sofa during TV viewing. But we made do with the bed, which was quite comfortable. The fridge was about the size of the mini dishwasher, and had a small freezer compartment, but also had warnings posted to not overfill, which we seemed to manage with our gallon of milk, pint of creamer, dozen eggs and cold cuts. So, yeah, a larger fridge would be nice, but I don't know where they could fit one in the unit, so we'll be sure to alter our cold food plan on a future stay. Hands down, Harbortown Point had THE MOST in-room supplies for a comfortable stay! My pictures show all the cookware, utensils, dishes, bakeware - microwave/convection oven with a user manual! There was also plenty of supplies should we need to clean anything or do dishes. Also a nice basket of coffee and tea to get us started in the AM. We were provided with a checklist upon check-in, asking me to make sure the inventory matched what was in the unit. I didn't know homework was going to be assigned, but the "Monica" in me LOVED IT! That showed me the owners here truly do care about upkeep and efficiency! There was actually more items in the unit than listed, so I cheerfully provided additional notes. LOL! Other features we enjoyed: A automated gas fireplace, with push button start was cozy, the curtains around the "bedroom area" of the studio suite were something I had never seen before and LOVED! The HUUUUGE bathroom with seated vanity table, the large balcony with pub height table and chairs, where we could sit at sunset and see the Channel Islands through the trees, the comfortable furnishing, the detailed instructions and binder for the property and surrounding areas, with suggestions of sites and activities, all the work put into the holiday lights! Just beautiful and welcoming. The property itself is well maintained. Evidence of ongoing work is evident throughout. Ken is a friendly maintenance guy, painting and working on upkeep around the grounds, and another A/C & Heating guy was also there during our stay. We really enjoyed our time at this special property, with plenty of included parking and plenty of interesting sights within walking distance. We visited this Resort for a week we highly recommend it. The rooms are outdated, but we had everything that we needed. It was clean. The condo was nicely laid out.. They have a restaurant with a full bar small but something was available for on site eating out. The view is spectacular. We went outside to the fire pit to watch the boat parade however the fire pit was not working. Bummer. The staff is friendly and helpful.. we will definitely be returning sooner than later to this Resort. read more

We have been owners since 1986 but had never stayed at the resort( we used to live in Ventura) -bought it so we could trade. Well, now that we live. 4 hours away, we thought we could take advantage. We Loved it! Easy access to nearby Ojai, Santa Barbara and Central coast. Room was clean, lovely restaurant. We enjoyed the wine tasting at the resort and got to meet fellow owners. We tried Brophys - delicious clam chowder, poke salad and so close! Great resort to explore Ventura and nearby attractions. read more

What a gorgeous spot for a getaway! Right on the water, small so not crowded and noisy, wonderful room with fireplace, kitchen, living area, big bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the harbor. Many places to eat out in the area, and a kitchen so you can save money and bring your own food and cook. DON'T MISS the restaurant on site, particularly on Sunday. Saul makes an incredibly BBQ with homemade bread, and some of the best grilled tri tip and chicken you've ever had in your life. I have owned for last 16 years, was there three weeks this year, It's safe, clean and very restful, You could just sit in the suits sofa, looking at the great ocean view and just relax. There are many great places to go eat and have a drink all within in 5 to 7 min. The Ventura Marina harbor with ocean views. Love this place. Really paid off when Covid shut down most people's vacations, Resort followed prescribed health mandates, But we had our weekly vacations, without skipping a beat. read more

Nice place and would go again. Good: location, size of rooms, nice bed, nice shower, lots to do. Not So Good: pool is cold, teens in hot tub for hours, hot rooms, sheets make you sweat, not enough parking. We enjoyed out stay even though we never got to use the hot tub. It was always packed with teens who kept running back and forth to pool which made the hot tub not hot. They made sure they kept their spaces so no one else could get a spot. Love the location, close to beaches and they have bikes, movies and food. Ladies working there were nice. They clean the pool area every day. Some of the rooms have great views, we got the pool which was okay. Glad I did not get the ugly boat yard. But the top floor is best because you have no one above and it can get noisy. These rooms stay warm but they do have fans that help. Very clean and well organized. I suggest you take the inventory on check-in since items were missing. Love this spot and will come again, anytime. Rent here you will enjoy it. read more

This is a quiet and well kept gem for anyone looking for a simple beach resort with harbor views (you'll need to drive five minutes to get to Knoll's Surfers Beach or bike 15 minutes). The staff is friendly and is always out and about doing the attention to detail cleaning such as wiping down the luggage carts. It is an easy drive to the 101 to get to LA for day trips and there is a grocery store five minutes away so you can prepare food in the kitchen that has everything you need to make a nice meal. They do rent beach cruisers (and have kid sized bikes) which was a nice addition to be able to ride to the store and back within 20 minutes - the staff even gave me good directions on how to get there without having to ride on the busy street. What it's not is a resort with lots of activities for kids and big poolside fun. It's also probably not for you if you're looking for new accommodations with amenities such as charging areas for your devices or central air (there is a fireplace/heating and several fans for the hot parts of the year). What it does offer is charming touches such as a blackout curtains that surround the comfortable queen sized bed (for those who are good with a firmer coil bed), plenty of bathroom space, a more private outside balcony, and lovely well kept grounds will all kinds of flora and fauna. The restaurant on-site is wonderfully delicious and a treat for sure! "Saul" the chef obviously takes great pride in his work and is very friendly. Everything we tried was well prepared, with generous portions for the price. Locals should give it a try too as there is a well stocked bar for your most common mixed drinks, a big screen t.v. for sports fans and even had fresh flowers in vases on all the tables. read more

We have two timeshares now and we usually come in June and August and we absolutely love it. They are close to everything and we always try to get the Harborview because it's so beautiful. You can't miss out on the café because Saul and his mother Trini are the best cooks and the food is absolutely amazing. You have to try it we look forward to coming back every year! read more

We've owned here for 10 years or more and we LOVE it! We try to always be on the harbor side, second floor. You cannot beat the view! We eat on the balcony often, because this is literally the best view in town. It's not modern, but it is excellently maintained. They manage their money very well, and always make sure that everything is clean, well appointed and in working order. The staff is helpful, friendly and efficient! Now, on to the restaurant:) They got a new chef a year or so ago. And, wow! The food is amazing! Some Mexican food and some traditional American food. Everything tastes made from scratch and the portions are so generous! We just had breakfast there, and we can't wait to go back! read more

Ants! Maintenance came promptly twice but we had to buy a can of ant spray & use it twice a day at min! No one offered us a different room or a simple apologize or asked if we would like a heavier treatment to rid. Internet was ridiculously slow also this time. Not sure if carriers changed or what but consistently poor connectivity for the week. And the two pillows on the couch were dirty upon our arrival as well as an extra pillow & case that was in drawer as spare. So much so that they immediately went on the side & were not used. In the age of Covid perception of clean as well as clean very important. We usually love this property, come every year the past 9 years! But very disappointed this time in the quality. We understand it is very hard in the time of Covid to run but there are no excuses for these basics. Not to be a total complainer they did our nice, new flooring. I hope they continue to update because sinks, counters, etc. getting dated. But until this trip it was always very clean. read more

The staff was friendly and what I could see (there were no rooms available the night we wanted to stay there) it seemed clean and nicely located. We stay at Harbortown Point at least once (usually twice) a year, and LOVE it here! My husband has owned a timeshare unit here for over 40 years, and has never been sorry he got it. In fact, we've bought two more weeks in the past two years. Yes, it's a small staff the runs the office, and sometimes it takes some time to get back to you on phone calls (when you are not on-site, but calling in from home with questions). But we always get our questions answered. I found the front office personally very friendly! Also very happy to answer my questions about anything! Yes, the furniture is getting a tad outdated, and we hope when they replace the sofa/sofabeds, they are more "cushy" than they currently are. But...with the view there? THAT is what I come to Harbortown for! We've been there in sun, rain, wind and fog...it's still gorgeous. And if you happen to get there in early/mid December when the Christmas Harbor Boat Parade is going on...FABULOUS! We like the evening events (special meals on special days, or wine tasting, etc.); the DVD collection isn't bad at all; just reading a book on the patio overlooking either the ocean, harbor, or garden/pool area is so relaxing! Never giving up my Harbortown units!! Don't even have them registered with Interval International or RCI, as we have no intention of trading them! Don't let the "nay-sayers" from a year or two ago keep you from trying this place out! If you want peace and relaxation, without a lot of "bells and whistles", this is the place! read more

There's no air conditioning. At all. And the balconies are covered by glass stopping any air from entering the rooms. It's an 80 degree day and I walked in and the heaters were on! That's right, it's Southern California and there's heaters but no AC! Room never cools off. I get that some beach hotels dont have ac but they usually at least have access to fresh air. Also here's a list of things that didn't work in the room: lamp by the bed, fan in the room, the telephone, and the kitchen light hums so loud. Never again. read more

This place is awesome. It's not a luxury resort- but that doesn't really exist in Ventura. It has true Ventura old school charm, with cleanliness, amenities and friendly staff woven in. If you like ventura, you'll love Harbortown. It's another amazing reason why old school is so cool in Vtown. The vibe, the decor, the attitude (or lack there of) reminds me of the 70s.... but all of it works! When the jacuzzi broke down, they had it fixed in a couple of hours! That never happens at a major flashy resort. Though I've stayed at some of the west coast's most extravagant resorts, Harbortown is where I've come for more than 5 vacations. A little advice, you don't have to own a timeshare to enjoy this resort. You can call the timeshare resale company they use and rent the units like a vacay rental .. by the week. Stayed here the week before Thanksgiving 2014. Loved this timeshare!! Used our Wyndham points and got a week for 56k! Spacious unit for a studio. Stayed here with hubs and 2 young boys on the pull out. Awesome views! Enjoyed watching boats in and out of harbor finishing for squid. Loved the park on the beach, Ventura harbor museum and lookout as well as area shops/restaurants right there in harbor. Staff was kind and video rentals library was robust fun activities/food/social every night. Be sure you get a room on the harbor, second story has a slightly better view but both levels are great! Kitchen stocked well. No oven but the toaster oven baked pizza. Small fridge fit all our needs. Very clean, however a bit outdated. read more

Beautiful view, close to just about everything. I'd give it a 5, but we were on the ground floor and seemed to have had a contortionist above us that never slept. The floors are way too thin, so it felt and sounded as though the people above us were doing acrobats at all hours of the day. That, combined with the not-so-comfortable furniture, keep the rating down just slightly. The grounds are gorgeous, the guest services area serves a nice meal and drinks. Jason, who runs guest services, is very laid back, informative and helpful. He knows how to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi are very well maintained. The jacuzzi is in a huge enclosed gazebo, so weather is not an issue. Overall, the people are very friendly, the place is beautiful and worth the stay. We will return, so long as we can get a top level floor. read more

My parents bought a week at this timeshare back in 1987. They don't use anymore, but I stay there for a week over the summer. I absolutely love this place. Lots of wonderful childhood memories. This isn't a five-star luxury resort. There isn't a day spa, gym, or fancy dining (although the little restaurant on site is great). There aren't a whole lot activities either. It's just a wonderful little place with clean, comfortable rooms that have amazing views. It is my highlight of the year. read more

As long as you realize that this place is a little older and is not on the same level as a Marriott, etc, you should be happy. We just finished a one week stay and had a great time. Our studio was amply supplied with a small kitchen and everything worked just fine. We loved the bikes that available to use at no charge. We had a nice view, the staff was helpful and there was plenty to do nearby. We will definitely go back if we have the opportunity. read more

"not like other hotels" -front desk lady... exactly it's not, it may have nice views but that's about it , I'm am disappointed and in aw with their actions and poor customer services 1. Check in is not until 4 2. They do not give more towels and no more then two pillows 3. Heated pool is not heated and spa has so much chlorine it's not healthy, our eyes were burning and the stench was unbelievable 4. Couch bed (futon) feels like just springs 5. Wifi does not work... it kicks you off and when you do connect it doesn't even work correctly 6. And last but not least most of the maids do not do their jobs and do not do what is expected and staff and was informative of certain important rules . read more

Couldn't even get our beds to be made as part of the mini room service, they left the sheets on top of the bed. Extremely rude!!! read more

If you are looking for a place to stay in Ventura look somewhere else. Today at 10 in the morning my brother was woken up by a loud banging at our door by the front office lady who looks like her hips don't lie and was practically screaming at him (remind you my brother is only 15 and this lady looks like she's in her mid 30's). And I quote "this is not one of those hotels", by that I mean if you leave any dirty rags,towels , or any trash bags they will pound on your door and scream at you like they did to my brother yet they do not inform you of any of this, and they say they are not allowed to knock when there is a DO NOT DISTURB sign yet that is a lie because as I said they were pounding on our door as if they were a swat team and we were illegal drug traffickers. And to top it all off there wifi is trash so take your own hotspot. And take goggles if you are going to go to the spa because they put an extreme amount of chlorine to where your eyes start to burn, especially if you close the door because it is an inside spa. And as well the maids don't do what is expected. The only good thing that came out of this trip was the room was nice and the view was beautiful from the morning to the evening read more

It's a nice location but the rooms are hot & stuffy. Yes it's on the ocean but there are glass windshields on the patio that prevent air from circulating. The bed area is so hot I couldn't sleep. And don't close the drapes around the bed because you'll suffocate. It's hot year round. I will not stay here again. read more
