But when a crown started to come off, I knew it was time to get back into the dental hygiene groove. I'll spare you the details and simply echo the other reviewers comments about the kind, caring way Dr. Singh approaches her practice. She was clear about what needed to be done, clear about the options, and kind about the cost when my insurance didn't cover my new crown and bridge (I knew I had basic dental coverage only). One other aspect that sets Dental Remedies apart is the kindness of the staff, especially Autumn. She's a sweet and gentle soul who loves helping people...loves to have a little fun in an otherwise stressful situation, and leaves reminder messages that make you think going to the dentist is something you might actually want to do. BEWARE, I almost died due to sepsis as a result of the surgeon's incompetence. She had normal crowding: my wisdom teeth were impacted and coming in at 90 degrees, as well as suffering from bacteria pockets he showed me on the Xray caused by the impacting, which also caused a cavity in one of my four wisdom teeth. Knowing this, you would think I would have been prescribed antibiotics. On the second day of being in excruciating pain, he prescribed me more Hydros. On the third day, after informing the surgeon I was throwing up, I was told that the risk of infection is rare and I probably have the flu. Although he said I can send pictures, and did try to schedule an appointment, I ended up going to the ER and informed I had a severe infection and put on antibiotics. To make It even worse, when I went to him for my follow up appointment, the surgeon tried to tell me that the infection was from food getting stuck in the holes even when I explained that I had kept up with my oral care and did not eat any solid food before I went to the ER. But probably the deal breaker was that for a routine check up after the dental part of the appt. we would've had to wait SIX MONTHS for a cleaning. We've NEVER run into this kind of arrangement in our collective 140 year experience. One explanation, we thought, was that they couldn't hire or retain enough dental hygienists. And why is that? Are there not enough dental hygienists in St. Augustine, or does the practice not pay them enough or otherwise provide a miserable working experience? Who knows, and really we don't care. We are tired with tolerating drama anywhere for whatever reason, so we're going back to our "old" dentist in Orlando. We got two appts. about 10 days out from contacting them. The appt. includes a cleaning.

I've been going to this office, located in the Harbor Island plaza, for 8-9 years now. A co-worker initially recommended him as being one of the best in town, and how well he treated her daughter with all the work her family has needed. Vicki runs a tight ship at the front desk, keeps the billing and insurance straight, and calls me to make sure I don't lose track of my appointments. The hygienists do a great job of cleaning up after any brushing and flossing 'oversights' that I've made, and they've always dedicated a full hour to that work. (Somewhere along the line, I read that it takes a solid hour to do a good job at it, and that cutting down on that time is one way that some offices can pad their bottom lines.) Be advised that they stay booked pretty solid for months in advance, particularly for the early and late appointments, so if you need to reschedule a cleaning, you could be waiting a while. I've been very fortunate that I've not needed personally needed Dr Diaz to perform any major work yet, but in chatting with him during x-rays and consultations (he's actually an very interesting fellow to talk to), I feel comfortable that I'd be in great hands.

Every time I go in, I'm greeted by genuine people who truly care... no joke. Dr. Sheth is excellent - patient, non aggressive, meticulous, and dare I add "fun" as well? How can a dentist appointment be FUN? From the fabulous teeth cleaning, exam, and actual work performed, - it's brilliant. I overheard Dr. Elliot talk to his patient too and he seems just as brilliant. This is the best place to go for any dental issue & I'm one appointment away from completing my treatment plan. I previously saw Dr. Rex Painter in his Palatka Island Dentist office for a dental implant. This…read moretime I needed crowns on two back teeth that were next to each other. Dr. Painter was able to accommodate my schedule & see me last month in his St. Augustine office. He has the CEREC 3D printer that allows him to manufacture ceramic crowns while you wait. He worked on one tooth at a time & his trained dental technician Cory used an intraoral camera to design the crown that was double checked by Dr. Painter. The tooth was then created by the CEREC printer, the fit & bite were checked & Cory glazed the tooth making it cosmetically beautiful. It was bonded in place then the procedure repeated with the other tooth. I was there less than 4 hours & happy I didn't have to wait for a dental lab to make the crowns & have to return 2-3 weeks later to get them placed. In addition, I was experiencing a headache & Dr. Painter, who is trained in both dental surgery and medicine, diagnosed a sinus infection & showed me the infection on x-rays. He prescribed an antibiotic that treated my problem & saved me time & money so I didn't have to see my family doctor, I highly recommend Rex Painter, DDS, MD & 1st City Dental Clinic. Ms. Bethany manages the office with two hygienists Larissa & Amy, two dental assistants/technicians Esmeralda & Cory & the receptionist/scheduler Andrea. As a dentist & physician myself, I travel all the way from Hawai'i to get my treatment from Dr. Painter because I want the best comprehensive care & his staff is caring, friendly & informative.
