We ordered the Prime Rib French Dip with fries and a couple of Reuben Sandwiches with fries. The meat on all 3 sandwiches was bland and tasteless. The bottom of the bun on the French Dip was falling apart due to being soaked with liquid. The fries were only an inch long and you could tell the oil they cooked in hadn't been changed in a while due to them being black. Most were too hard to eat or tasted burnt. Service was ok. The ambiance of the place is ok. I hadn't gone back in several months because the food was expensive and it didn't taste good. I know there are new owners and sometimes it takes a while to get everything together. Sadly even with time it hasn't gotten better. read more

My wife and I have been to Hardware Brewing several times after it recently re-opened under new ownership. Service is outstanding and the food is great. Today we stopped in and I tried a special of the day, a chimichanga plate. I honestly did not have very high expectations. I mean, yeah, the food has been good here, but now we are talking Mexican food. Small restaurant. Kendrick, Idaho. Hardware Brewing. Put all of those things together and you don't really expect to have an incredible south of the border culinary adventure now do you? Wow, was I surprised. For context, I love Mexican food. I've traveled Baja from one end to the other. I lived in San Diego and Arizona for years and practically lived eating in little authentic taquerias. I also love to cook. Especially frijoles de la olla or "beans from the pot." (Pronounced fray-hole-ace day lah oyah) This is one the the most basic and historical side dishes in Mexico. Moms in Mexico always have a clay pot of these pinto beans cooking on the stove and they are served with just about everything. If you go to a Mexican restaurant that claims to be "authentic," just ask them if their beans are frijoles de la olla. If they don't know what you are talking about, their beans probably came from a can. Period. My plate came with a chimichanga (nicely garnished), rice, beans, pickled red onions, and salsa. Well, it sure looked authentic. Then I tried the beans, first thing. AMAZING! Perfectly prepared and great seasoning. Melt in your mouth good. This was the real deal all right. The chimichanga was perfectly cooked with the chicken filling tender and well seasoned. The Mexican rice was excellent, the guacamole was on point and the pickled red onions had just the right crunch with the ideal kick of lime that perfectly complimented the rest of the meal. In short, one of the best Mexican plates of food I've ever had. I was amazed. I was so amazed, I actually went back to the kitchen to compliment the chef. I met a lovely young Latino woman coming out of the kitchen door and I asked her if she had made the frijoles de la olla. She said that she had and it came from a recipe of her mothers that had been in the family for generations. And it tastes like it! Run, do not walk, to Hardware Brewing in tiny Kendrick Idaho and pray that they have this permanently on their menu. read more

This was our first visit since Hardware Brewing reopened. We had a good experience and will eat here again, although there were a couple of minor issues with the food. The sausage links were cold in the middle, and the eggs looked dirty (you can see this in the pictures). The potatoes were excellent. Rolled through to give another try. I ordered the tiger burger. The caramelized onions were cold, the burger came waaaay to fast to be that overcooked. So clearly it was pre-cooked and sitting. Wife tried the special "beef stew" it was tasty, but had hunks of bone and cartilage in it. Of the 5 employees outside the kitchen, only our waitress was actually working, two large 10+ tables. We sat AT the bar, I asked two of them who were hanging out behind the bar for another beer, both were too young to pour. ‍‍ Food, Meh! Service Eh!! Recently was passing through the area in the early morning hours. Stopped in after seeing they were open and having a really cool curb appeal. Walked inside and the vibe was just amazing. Clean and neat with a really spot on decor and theme through out. We were greeted by staff and the service was over the top. The manager and waitress both helped us. Menu was simple and full of great choices. The prices were reasonable and almost unbelievable as low as they are for the quality and amount of food you get. Food was above our expectations and absolutely delicious. Manager came out and spoke with us for a while and shared everything is locally grown and fresh. We highly recommend this as a place to stop for a beer, breakfast, lunch or dinner. read more

I was quite surprised to find a place like this while on a ride. I was looking for a place to grab a bite to eat and relax for a bit. Sat at the bar and ended up ordering the Tomato, Cabbage, and Onion soup. The name of it escapes me, but wow, was it tasty! Perfect for a cool, fall day. Also had a side of their homemade potato chips. These were also tasty. I was unable to have a beer as I was traveling by motorcycle, but I did happen to have my emergency grunt (small growler) with me. They suggested I'd like the Red Nail Ale. I took that with me to drink later. They were right, I did find it tasty. One of the better red ales I have had. I really liked the atmosphere and the people were friendly. They have free WiFi, which was good since I did not have cell service. I'll stop by again when I am back in the area. read more

Anyway, was lunchtime on a very busy fundraising weekend. The owner came around to every table and introduced himself. I ordered the cheeseburger with mashed potatoes- love me some mash and these did not disappoint! Hubby had a hamburger patty melt (that leftover half sandwich the next day was fantastic). What a cool place to hang out in Kendrick! Admittedly, a little off the beaten path, but a wonderful excuse for a beautiful drive. First, the beers are outstanding! Both the IPA and the Stout are best in class. Second, the historic building is absolutely stunning. Third, the menu is quite good, with the Kendrick jumping off the page as an absolute stand-out. We had lunch at Hardware Brewing today and we thought it was terrible. My soup had a hair in it and my beef salad was $16 but the size of a very small dinner salad. It was way over priced. What a FANTASTIC, family friendly and fun destination! My family and I enjoyed the beautiful drive from Lewiston. So nice to unplug from our phones and computers. My husband and I finally got to catch up visiting in the car, which was wonderful in itself with our busy lives. We meet up with two other families at Hardware Brewing Co. that also drove from Lewiston. The kids had so much fun, Melody our waitress brought out coloring books, multiple games for the kids to play, root beers and brownies. She was awesome! Food was amazing, bite size steak and sliders are delicious!!! BITE SIZE is a MUST! They have a great selection and variety of brews on tap and even wine. I am looking forward to trying their home brews! Definitely worth the drive! Plus the drive is the bonus. :)) read more

Awesome atmosphere and the food was good. The downside was the bad service and I felt the prices were high for what you're getting. We were never offered refills on drinks, service was very slow, and we had to go get our own ketchup after asking the waiter for it and him forgetting twice. Always enjoy eating here. Great food. Fun atmosphere. Why a 3 star? The menu has changed. Food is still good, but why toss something that was great. You can't order a regular hamburger at lunch time. And the portions are smaller. Kind of like going to one of those fancy places in the big city. And you just want to take a picture of your food and display it. And fries are not part of the meal. Love the decor and atmosphere however the waiter Jared didn't write down our order down and he forgot 3 things we 0rdered. While the food was tasty, not getting everything we ordered and waiting so long was not fun. The waiter was also not at all personable and didn't come back to check on us at all. in an old building rebuilt in 19904 after a fire, this place has a cool cowboy kinda feel with a bar and tables and a couple TV's for watching sports. Sunday, when I visited, they have a limited menu but still plenty to choose from. We were just there to have a beer or wine and a snack. They have fresh fries pork rinds with a sprinkle of cayenne, pretty good! Tried a couple Pale Ales and they were pretty good as well. Hardware Brewing has a great brew pub atmosphere. Stumbled on this place purely by accident and am very happy we stopped in. The staff was friendly and helpful. Whenever I eat somewhere for the first time, I ask the wait staff what's the most popular item on the menu. Before I could ask, our waiter offered to point out his favorites. Thanks again. I thoroughly enjoyed the Kendrick with duck bacon added. The homemade potato chips are awesome also. Hardware did not have any of their brews available but the tap selection was great. My wife had a burger and really liked it. Both the Kendrick and the burger were the perfect portion (not big gut bombs like so many places are trending towards). If your in Kendrick this place is a must try. I'll by back for the Hardware Brew(s). I would have rated this place a five if I'd had the opportunity to sample the brew with as much favor as the rest of my experience. read more

I have been to Hardware a few times now. I live a little over 30 minutes away from Kendrick, and the drive into this quaint town for a good meal is well worth it. I live every aspect of the brewery. The atmosphere is super unique in a fabulous rancher sort of way. I am pretty aure the lights are made of chicken feeders! Then there is the food. The menu is made up of nothing you've ever heard of. House made everything. Pork fried rinds for a starter is a must. I had the turkwy gobbler, as i just wanted a good sandwich...and needed to see what duck bacon was all about. It was dang good. And those homemade chips? Score! They have just the right crisp, buy still sort of like a fry at the center. I killed this while thing. But, to make myself fluffy self feel a bit better...I did not eat some of the crust. Hehe. The sandwich was an animal. I cannot wait to try some of the new hardware brews too! The past 3 times we've ate there I swear we will never go back. Service has taken over an hour, feel like we're putting the head waitress Melody out. This time as we waited over 30 minutes, watching others after us get their food, we finally stopped a new waitress as our waitress and supervisor Melody never came back to refill water or check on us, where our meal was. Seems they not only lost our order once but twice. Melody came to tell us she would make it right. Another 30 minutes we finally have or order, promptly followed by the entire bill.
