Homemade Breaded and Fried Shrimp, daily special

I cannot stress this enough! Run do not walk to this brewery. They have the best food I have ever tasted in my life! Atmosphere 10/10 Food 10/10 service 10/10 Everything you could ever want out of a small town restaurant. The craft beer is great if you like lagers or Belgians and the staff is so friendly!! Small town gem for sure. Seriously if I could sleep there I would.

    Delicious chimichanga plate. Awesome beans!!!

My wife and I have been to Hardware Brewing several times after it recently re-opened under new ownership. Service is outstanding and the food is great. Today we stopped in and I tried a special of the day, a chimichanga plate. I honestly did not have very high expectations. I mean, yeah, the food has been good here, but now we are talking Mexican food. Small restaurant. Kendrick, Idaho. Hardware Brewing. Put all of those things together and you don't really expect to have an incredible south of the border culinary adventure now do you? Wow, was I surprised. For context, I love Mexican food. I've traveled Baja from one end to the other. I lived in San Diego and Arizona for years and practically lived eating in little authentic taquerias. I also love to cook. Especially frijoles de la olla or "beans from the pot." (Pronounced fray-hole-ace day lah oyah) This is one the the most basic and historical side dishes in Mexico. Moms in Mexico always have a clay pot of these pinto beans cooking on the stove and they are served with just about everything. If you go to a Mexican restaurant that claims to be "authentic," just ask them if their beans are frijoles de la olla. If they don't know what you are talking about, their beans probably came from a can. Period. My plate came with a chimichanga (nicely garnished), rice, beans, pickled red onions, and salsa. Well, it sure looked authentic. Then I tried the beans, first thing. AMAZING! Perfectly prepared and great seasoning. Melt in your mouth good. This was the real deal all right. The chimichanga was perfectly cooked with the chicken filling tender and well seasoned. The Mexican rice was excellent, the guacamole was on point and the pickled red onions had just the right crunch with the ideal kick of lime that perfectly complimented the rest of the meal. In short, one of the best Mexican plates of food I've ever had. I was amazed. I was so amazed, I actually went back to the kitchen to compliment the chef. I met a lovely young Latino woman coming out of the kitchen door and I asked her if she had made the frijoles de la olla. She said that she had and it came from a recipe of her mothers that had been in the family for generations. And it tastes like it! Run, do not walk, to Hardware Brewing in tiny Kendrick Idaho and pray that they have this permanently on their menu.

Just a great cool down home place. Super cool building. Loved the salad bar. Great wine selection. Will be back maybe tomorrow

    Chili cheese fries.

I came here, passing through on a 2-week road trip through Idaho. I'm not big on hyperbole, but the chili cheese fries here are the best I've ever tasted. Hats off to the chef; she is killing it.

This was our first visit since Hardware Brewing reopened. We had a good experience and will eat here again, although there were a couple of minor issues with the food. The sausage links were cold in the middle, and the eggs looked dirty (you can see this in the pictures). The potatoes were excellent. Our waitress was friendly, kept our water and coffee cups filled, and we had a nice chat with her.

Tomato, cabbage, and onion soup along with homemade potato chips. Yummy!

I was quite surprised to find a place like this while on a ride. I was looking for a place to grab a bite to eat and relax for a bit. Sat at the bar and ended up ordering the Tomato, Cabbage, and Onion soup. The name of it escapes me, but wow, was it tasty! Perfect for a cool, fall day. Also had a side of their homemade potato chips. These were also tasty. I was unable to have a beer as I was traveling by motorcycle, but I did happen to have my emergency grunt (small growler) with me. They suggested I'd like the Red Nail Ale. I took that with me to drink later. They were right, I did find it tasty. One of the better red ales I have had. I really liked the atmosphere and the people were friendly. They have free WiFi, which was good since I did not have cell service. I'll stop by again when I am back in the area.

They give you a bowl of kettle chips when seated which was delicious. We were served quickly, and I ordered a house made seltzer that I believe was huckleberry flavor. It was interesting that it was made in-house but it had a weird after taste to me. We got the Turkey Club as well as their Cougar Gold Mac and Cheese. Both were delicious and I loved both dishes. I enjoyed how the Mac and cheese came with the side salad too, or you can have kettle chips or a soup. Salad was a great choice with the Mac and cheese. Overall I would definitely come back for the food as it was delicious. Ps- They also give SEL workers a small discount which is great!

Although open, only a few tables were filled, and it was mostly empty at that time. We were seated and a young waitress promptly took our drink order and brought us some kettle chips. The kettle chips are to die for! We were hungry so that might've contributed to the fact that we gobbled them down quickly. These were never refilled during our time there although I wish they were. (We didn't get a chance to ask.) Our appetizer order of the pretzel bites were tasty, but there were so few on the plate for the 3 of us to share. It comes with three dipping sauces, but there weren't enough pretzels to enjoy much of the dipping sauces. Next, we placed an order for three meals that came with side salads. Our waitress said the salads would be out first and then the meals. Unfortunately, only one salad came out and the waitress didn't say anything else when dropping off the single salad. I assumed she was coming back with the others. As the dining room was filling up, she got busy taking orders elsewhere, didn't glance our way once. The one salad was finished while the other two of us were twiddling our thumbs at the table for a decent enough amount of time that we were trying to get her attention to ask about the salads. The other two salads did not come out until our entrées arrived. It would've been nice if we were offered a refill on the kettle chips and our drinks . No drink refills offered. We waited without anything to nibble on for what felt like too long. As for food quality, the mac & cheese was tasteless and plain. There was a good volume of it, but no desire to eat it. The Caesar salads we had were pre-dressed and the dressing wasn't that great. The burger was OK, but they served it dry. I asked for ketchup, but I apologized to the waitress for the ketchup request as she seemed to be very busy with the dining room filling up. It was a very uncomfortable feeling to ask for anything because of the vibe. The best thing on the table was the kettle chips, and the side of broccoli that one of my daughters had with her steak was fabulously seasoned. We made it a point to complement the broccoli and asked how it was prepared at the end of our meal when we were offered the check . Our waitress was kind enough to find out for us but the answer that came back seemed to shield the seasonings as a proprietary secret. In all it was an OK experience and we might return next time we're in town to give them another chance. If anything, I'd order the delicious kettle chips and broccoli.

The restaurant is divided into an indoor dining area and a coffee house section. I came here for a quick breakfast and decided to dine in at 7:15 AM on a weekday. [Parking]: Easy parking in the designated parking lot on a weekday morning, but the lot can get crowded during busy lunch hours. With that being said, it shouldn't be difficult to find additional street parking in this part of town. [Atmosphere & service]: Cozy and comfortable vibe. Service was fairly standard and my waitress did offer a coffee refill so a thumbs-up. Live music available on every Friday evenings. [Menu]: Some of Yelp's top recommended items include the Steak Salad, Kale Salad, and Beet Salad. The breakfast menu is served from 7 AM to 10:45 AM Monday to Saturday. It was hard to figure out what their signature dish was so I ended up ordering the Lobster Benedict. *** Lobster Benedict (poached eggs / lobster / sliced tomato / spinach / hollandaise sauce / chives / english muffin - $17): Not horrible, but not amazing either. I could taste a hint of shredded lobster. The hollandaise sauce was alright. The hash browns just weren't as good as those hash browns at Frank's Diner in Spokane. *** One of those places that's fine for a casual local breakfast or lunch, but at the same time this spot is not exactly a must-visit.

The difference here was that the eggs (over easy in my case) were cooked perfectly. The sausage patties were exceptionally well prepared, and some of the best I've had in recent memory. My spouse's order was slightly different, with bacon and a waffle, but according to her review, it was equally well done. It was obvious that the staff loved what they're doing. The food was great, the service prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere leaned toward the charming side. It was simply a really good experience all the way around.
