Hopping spot at lunch time! Our book club selected Cafe Charlotte for our lunch meeting up. Knowing it was a coffee shop, i didn't have high expectations, except a heat and serve meal. Pleasantly surprised. The food menu was more varied than I expected and I even had trouble deciding. I ordered the Mama Mia. Served on there housemade sourdough, toasted and spread with a fresh Pesto Genovese (very flavorful), creamy avocado, the most delicious house made cherry tomato confit, and slivers of parm. It was so delicious that I want to go back for it today!!! read more

This is a cute little coffee shop near target. Is always rather go here than one of the big chain coffee shops. The staff is very sweet and I like that they are really creative with their drinks. The decor inside seems to be an interesting mix of old timey German memorabilia but then they have Harry Potter themed drinks so I'm not 100% what vibe they're going for. I've tried a few different drinks and they are definitely on the sweeter side, which isn't my personal preference. read more

Been here a couple of times now. The coffee is pretty good, the food is solid - some interesting combinations that are certainly new to me, but I like trying new things. The staff is friendly, the place is cute, with plenty of parking. If you're looking to maybe expand your palate and try something you wouldn't have thought to try otherwise, this is a good way to do that without going too far out of your comfort zone. read more

Cafe Charlotte is essentially a coffee shop that also has brunch friendly food. It has a Bavarian theme. I had a sandwich they call the Mama Mia! (With the explanation point). Stopped in for a coffee and decided to stay for a sandwich. The place was busy, but not packed and the staff were very welcoming as I came in. I looked over the menu and order a hot mocha and the Bella Bosso bagel sandwich... plus I got a cake to go because I wanted to try something and I knew I'd be happy to have it later. I was a little disappointed in my mocha latte. I ordered a large and when I took off the lid, there was an inch of room and then a layer of whipped cream with cookie topping so there was a very small amount of coffee. Aside from that, it was delicious so I was satisfied. For the Bella Rosso bagel sandwich, it had all the makings of things I like, but the bagel was pretty dry so it was just okay. I did share the cake with a friend later that day and it was delicious. Overall, I liked the cafe and the owner was chatting with folks, emptying trash bins, and friendly to everyone who came in. I think I just didn't enjoy my order too much that day. I will definitely be back to try the breakfast sandwiches because they look great. read more

Small cafe that serves German/Mediterranean food. Italian coffee/espresso drinks. Espresso good. My Caprese banquette was lovely! I added avocado. *It comes with pesto but I could not have it as it's nut-based pesto* My hubby lived his Bavarian breakfast. Staff was nice & answered all my questions. My only complaint is there was a dog in the restaurant sitting with some guests. The lady kept petting it up by the table. The dog stunk, so we moved. read more

Cafe Charlotte is a cute quaint cafe across from the Citadel Mall. Very clean an open restaurant with plenty of seating. The price is reasonable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I order my food to go and the serve was quick. The egg sandwich on the English muffin was delicious. If you are in the West Ashley area take time out and check out this little cafe. Went here for early lunch and we like this cute little cafe on the corner of the establishment. The girl behind the counter was friendly and took out ordered pretty well. My friend ordered the English muffin with egg and I ordered the hashtag (croissant with brown sugar bacon, hashbrown, cheese, and egg) which was pretty good. I also ordered the hot latte but the coffee was not hot it was kinda like warm temperature. I had iced coffee latte from this place before so next visit I think I am going to order iced coffee instead of hot coffee. read more

I love this not so hidden gem. This was my first time and I was really impressed. It's small but has seating inside and out and the parking is fairly easy. Is nestled in a small shopping center in West Ashley. We got the apple strudel latte (which was amazing) and a strawberry and cream cheese pastry. The staff was welcoming and knew their stuff. I stopped in because I saw all these beautiful pastries and cakes online.. they always have a gluten-free cake apparently and I loved the strawberry and lavender version of it. Some mornings when you wake up you just want a quiet place to sip your coffee and enjoy a Danish or hearty breakfast. Cafe Charlotte truly fits the bill. This unassuming cafe is next door to the Citadel mall, so parking is never an issue. The decor is clean and bright with various pictures and items showing the owners beloved Germany. I started with an iced mocha which had a nice dollop of whipped cream on top and lots of chocolate syrup. It was surprisingly not too sweet with the coffee flavor being more dominant. I ordered the Blueberry Blessed Pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed them. At first, I was apprehensive thinking maybe the blueberries were only on top but was please to find them loaded with plump berries inside. The pancake itself was cooked to a perfect golden brown and the idea of putting vanilla ice cream on top was pure genius! My wife ordered the Hashtag, a loaded breakfast sandwich with a French butter croissant packed with a crispy hashbrown, brown sugar bacon, two over easy eggs, melted American cheese with a garlic aioli spread. It was savory and hearty and the egg yolks nice and runny. Now of course we had to get a few baked goods to enjoy later. I got the blueberry cheesecake Danish which was still tender and flaky the next day. I loved how the blueberry and cheesecake were split right down the middle. Being that they are a German bakery I had to get the go to German chocolate cake. It was nice and moist, and the coconut was mixed in with the chocolate icing giving great coconut flavor with each bite! So, drag yourself out of bed and settle in with a great cup of coffee and one of their wonderful baked goods! read more

Not my favorite coffee shop. I didn't enjoy the hot chocolate. It tasted watery and little to no flavor. The soup was tasted like warm prego sauce to me. The sandwich was lacking in flavor but just because I didn't like it doesn't mean it's not good. Maybe someone's cup of tea but it mine. read more

Cute place with a lot of potential. The guy working the register seemed to have an I hate my job kind of attitude. We bought 4 coffees (2 hot, 2 cold) as we were going to hit the road back home. When handed my 16 oz coffee, it felt like there wasn't anything in it (coffee people iykyk just lifting it). I removed the lid and found 1/2 a cup. I sent it right back. The guy operating the register made it this time. This time I received 3/4 a cup. Since we just wanted to get on the road, we took our coffees and left. One of the cold coffees got mixed up with the hot flavored too, but that could just be a mistake. The good thing was the coffee was good, but someone needs to step in and show them how to fill a cup. read more

Quaint independent breakfast Café with European charm. Owned and run by a sweet local family, with German roots. The menu has a variety of options to fit most breakfast desires. Fresh breads and pastries are made mostly in house with a few staples but vary. I placed my order at the register with the owner's sweet daughter. Service was perfect. Order, short wait for your name on the order to be called, and pick up at the counter. There were multiple tables of various sizes to choose from and a sofa. There was a short line, but customers were friendly and gave up seats happily as they finished eating and saw people waiting for tables. Great place to meet up and share a piece of cake or quietly sip coffee, and play chess. I ordered the keep it simple sandwich which was an egg, cheese, and bacon on an English muffin. Everything tasted fresh and nothing was overcooked. It took me a little while to get here since they opened to get here, but I'm sure I will be back. read more

I had a high hopes for this place! We checked out the menu and it looked promising, so we stopped in today for the first time. I ordered a hot chai tea latte and it was presented as an iced drink. Upon request, they remade it but unfortunately the hot drink literally tasted like lightly flavored water. Not sure if there was something wrong with their machine, but it was undrinkable. I didn't want to return it since they had already remade it once, (even though that wasn't my error). On the plus side, my spouse ordered a double shot of espresso and that was fine. read more

I got the bella rosso bagel and an iced latte and my husband got the hashtag sandwhich and then we got a blueberry cheese danish! Can't wait to come back and try more! Very nice friendly people. Bagels are very tasty, with whatever you want in them. Wife had cheese with kettece, I had cheese, egg, lettuce. Cookies with Nutella chocolate, fantastic. My wife and I split the omelette and the "Mama Mia", a toast with an avocado spread and tomato confit, both were delicious. Everything is house made. I thought the bacon could have been a little more well done but I usually ask for extra crispy and I forgot this time. The coffee was great, and they have latte's as well. 3.5 stars, the quiche was really good, the espresso flavor was good in the affogato, and the service was incredibly friendly! However, the chocolate croissant was under baked, and the Caprese baguette was underwhelming. There were also fruit flies inside of the cafe, and a half eaten cinnamon roll sitting on the window from the kitchen. Always good to have new places in the area though and we will probably give it another shot just incase it was a bad time that we were there! read more

Stopped in to try this place and will definitely be back! Seems like it's family owned and operated, good amount of seating indoors and outdoors. They have what looked like soft baguette style sandwiches, but I went for a bagel sandwich and it was delicious. I also took home a slice of carrot cake and rhubarb meringue cake, and the lady working there double checked that I understood it was rhubarb and not cherry. I told her yes bc I wanted to try it, and I'm so glad I did. Both cakes were perfectly sweetened and very moist, even the next day. Looking forward to trying their Black Forest cake next! read more
