I have been a patient for some years now. Going to the dentist has always been stressful for me. Each time I arrive my nervousness is settled because I know I am in good hands. The office is extremely efficient and courteous; from the front desk staff to the hygienist. Regardless of which one is scheduled for my visits, they take time to explain what is being done and offer advice on what I need to add or continue for optimum dental hygiene. For this recent visit, Ebony was my hygienist. Before my cleaning she performed my periodontal charting and I must say that she had a heavenly touch. The probing isn't my favorite part of the visit but her hands were extremely light - no discomfort whatsoever. Dr. Riordan has the most soothing and calm demeaner. She always performs a thorough exam after my cleanings, x-rays, etc. She addresses any of my concerns and always explains what is recommended to maintain my overall dental health. The office is equipped with all the latest dental technology so you can have everything done in one place. When I leave the office I always feel confident and empowered because I know I received the best possible care and advice. read more

I hate to do this. However, I decided this year I was always going to speak my truth no matter how much I like who or what I am speaking about. This practice is VERY thorough. They will be sure to go over all the ways to improve your oral health. Which is so important and the best I have seen from any practice. Second, I really want to support black health professionals so this is also a huge plus. Third the staff, everyone from beginning to end was so kind and explained everything so there is no confusion or misunderstanding. So here is the not great. When I have scheduled dental appointments in the past I was always able to get a cleaning the day of my appointment that is why I schedule appts.I go every 6-8 months to the dentist and have been doing so for over 25 years. So today when I was told I needed to return to get a cleaning on a different day I was beyond displeased. This is just very inconvenient. Had I known this to be the case I would have scheduled elsewhere. I just don't appreciate the lack of transparency when scheduling. I still would recommend this practice to anyone, I would just say be sure to confirm if you can see a hygienist for a cleaning day of. read more

I love the convenience of filling out intake forms via Internet prior to your visit. Everyone is so friendly and thorough. They explained everything thoroughly. Discussed what was and what was not covered and gave me out of pocket expense prior to proceeding. The space itself is clean and organized with modern equipment. The Hygienist even asked if I had any music request to play during my procedure. My entire family of 5 (Myself, my husband, kids aged 7, 3 and 1) attend Harlem Dental for dental care and we love it! They're so awesome with my kids, we've never had a bad experience not a tear shed. I am quite picky about dentists. In fact, since being in NYC since 2008, I've probably had 5 or more. Dr Riordan is the one I have stuck with and will stay with. I used to live around the area, then moved to Brooklyn and I still come to see her. I trust her. She's not alarmist and is conservative about potential cavities and takes a (safe) watch and wait approach. Her staff is great, especially Mariana.
