It's okay. Not bad, but I've had better. My friend and I came here for our first meal together after I landed. She lives in the area so it made sense that we would go somewhere close to where she lived. I ended up getting the Harlem classic with cheese and the Harlem Shake, both which seemed like their well known dishes. The burger was okay. It wasn't bad, just really greasy. I added grilled onions for extra, which isn't a bad idea, but it's weird I need to pay for it. Not the worst burger, I've tasted, but definitely not the best either. I ended up getting the Harlem Shake, which should be a red velvet shake. However it just tasted like a vanilla shake. The cake wasn't well mixed into all the other ingredients. So then at the end, I ended up a big chunk of soggy cake, not all that appealing. Overall, it wasn't a bad place to go with friends in the neighborhood but I would never suggest this place to go out of your way to go to. read more

I love this little gem in Harlem, it's spacious and good for groups. I'm planning to head here with some classmates later on this month to celebrate the end of finals and I'm excited to go back here! P.S - Happy Hour is 5-8 where 5 beers are $15. You can choose between Red Strike and Corona. Get the Red Strike! I tried this place for the first time today for dine in and the place is overall clean and have good vibe. The napkin dispenser was empty for a hot minute -- but it was hard getting the cashier's attention since they were always busy. I ordered the classic and the jerk fries. The jerk fries is basically powered jerk powder on top with what seems like a jerk mayo dipping sauce - definitely innovation however I would definitely say it's one of those things you try once for the hype. The classic burger was tender and juicy - god bless the classic American burger. Overall the menu is super interesting and there's a lot of innovative item that mixes American with the Jamaican culture - I look forward to coming back here soon read more

Nostalgic decor. If your looking for low-key local spot it's a cute place to visit after a show at the Apollo. Stays true to the old school Harlem vibe. Order at the register, get your number and take a seat. Burger was good. Did it blow my mind-no but didn't disappoint either. Fries were a bit soggy and tables need a good cleaning. Bathrooms are super cool. If I'm ever in the neighborhood I will go in to try a shake. read more

This is my first time ordering from HARLEM SHAKE and I'm extremely disappointed!! I placed my order at 8:45 to only receive my order at 10:30 and it was a total disappointment as my order was not only cold but my burger was undercooked, my milkshake was melted, and I'm convinced my fries either spilled out or they just gave very little.for the nearly 40 bucks I wouldn't bother ordering from there again!! read more

Resplendent retro bathroom with green sink and foot powered dryer(love that machine). Now, when a food review starts with the bathroom, you just know. Ate: Hot dog with kraut Fries with cheese Salted caramel shake Boars head hot dog with kraut was good and arrived prettily decorated with mustard. Cute and clever names like the C train, jerk dog sound enticing. The fries were inedible, flavorless, I have eaten lots of cheese fries starting with Roll n Roaster as a teen and culminating with Shake Shacks in recent years. These were slightly undercooked in some spots, and fine in others, but inedible nonetheless. The salted caramel shake(shorty size) was tasty. Otherwise, this popular spot disappoints the Harlem food traveler. Many more impressive burger spots to explore. read more

Sadly, this place did not make me as happy as milkshakes and smothered fries usually do. Anybody who knows me knows that those two things are on my list of very favorite things, and even the idea of them makes me just a little giddy. But not this time. I had the turkey burger, jerk fries, and red velvet milkshake. I'm almost sure that zero seasoning went into the actual burger patty, so it was underwhelming. The fries couldn't stand up to the topping, so it was all kind of a mushy mess. But worst of all was the shake (just cause it should have been best of all)-- I'm no chemist, but I think that it was made with either water or the skimmest of skim milk. And maybe like 1/4 scoop of ice cream. And a slice of old cake. Are you getting the picture? Old cake in skim milk. I almost started crying. read more

THE COMMA My family loves coming here. The menu is full of their favorites and of course THE SHAKES! YUM! The music, the outdoor patio, the decor -all super cute! We have never had any issues the many times we've been there which is why I was surprised by our most recent experience. I ordered a shake I have never ordered from the menu before, to go. When we got home and started to enjoy our food. I noticed a chunky substance in one of the shakes. My daughter said it tasted like meat. After several abrupt, unexpected chucks of meat got lodged in her straw we investigated and concluded it was bacon. PROBLEM- we didn't order a "Bacon" shake nor do we eat pork! We walk pass Harlem Shake daily so one evening I stopped in to speak with a manager. She apologized, but informed me that the Double Chocolate Shake comes with bacon. I informed her that that is not whats on the menu. I had to continue to explain to her that despite her apologies, that the menu reflects a "bacon" shake, not a double chocolate bacon shake. I had to physically get a menu and show it to her. She seemed unaware of the typo and thanked me for bringing it to her attention. She did not however, offer to replace my shake or refund my money. I stopped back in a week later to see if the typos had been corrected on the menu, and they have not. Its always a toss up when you order food to go. There is nothing worse than to get home and your food is wrong. But when you are dealing with a restaurant you have previous good experiences with, you feel a certain level of trust has been established. The typo, although unfortunate, not a deal breaker for me. The lack of reconciliation for the typo and not fixing the typo...are. Its a matter of customer service, which appears to be a dying art. Typos with regarding ingredients are serious! If someone has a food allergy it could result in illness or death. If someone has a religious requirement, it can be deeply offensive. I am not sure the manager I spoke with is aware of that either... read more

I ordered delivery from Harlem Shake for lunch at 12:06 on Grubhub and it was at my door at exactly 12:21pm. I don't think I've gotten my food that fast sitting down at most restaurants. It came in a tray and my fries weren't soggy and my burger was just as good as if they set it down in front of me in the restaurant. This is my new favorite burger place! We found this gem while walking around and touring the area. They had such a good burger, it was your classic burger that you just like to enjoy with a pop. Their fries were also so good and perfectly made. They did take a little bit to make our food but the place was pretty busy when we went. Overall good burger joint! read more

I was thrilled to get my food from here. Waited an hour then I called to see what was going on with my delivery order. They said the delivery guy was on his way. 30 minutes pass and still nothing. I call to cancel after the third call and after he confirmed my cancel order he tells me the driver "was" 10 minutes away. It seems like they lie about delivery and prep time. First I'll start by reviewing the overall look of the place. It's a vintage style burger joint with tons of seats to select from. You can seat yourself and there is never a wait. The atmosphere is very chill and comfortable. They play music in the background and its played at a nice volume. There is a huge projector which displays any sports game that's currently on at the moment. The cashier ladies are so nice and courteous. They always say their recommendations and always keep a nice warm smile upon their faces. Your order (depending on how much you order) can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Everything is prepared by order and the portion size is good. I always get the classic burger with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, secret sauce, and cheese. Sometimes I get fries and a milkshake. Overall great place to enjoy a nice quick bite and enjoy cool refreshing beer. read more

I've lived a few blocks from Harlem Shake for a while now, and only just discovered their awesome breakfast menu. I've come before for lunch and dinner and had yummy, reasonably priced meals. But I think their real winners are the breakfast offerings. I came in recently and got the egg and sausage sandwich with turkey sage sausage and cheddar cheese. Mmm... Pour a little of their free cholula hot sauce packets on there and you've got yourself a great meal. For a little more than $5, I got a filling, delicious egg sandwich and a small cup of fruit salad. The potato roll was toasted and crispy on the bottom but soft, sweet and airy on top. The egg was well cooked and there was a generous helping of cheese. Next time I'll be getting the sweet potato hash and the shrimp n grits. I also noticed that on Saturdays and Sundays they do $15 mimosa pitchers...I may be back here sooner than I think. As in, later today. Or right now. read more

I really like the place! It's my go to Burger & fries place in the neighborhood! They're always super friendly! I don't eat meat, but they have a veggie burger, grilled cheese & lots of fries options! I really like the lemonade they have. I never tried the milkshakes, but I heard that they are really good too! Super Disappointed! I spent $45 for the tiniest burgers of the world. The chicken sandwich was so so small that l thought it was an appetizer. The mess burger absolutely nothing special. Well timing is everything! The few times that I've come to the restaurant my food and service have been good. Though a little more pricey than I imagined my choice has been good... The first time I've come & every time thereafter I've gotten & enjoyed the "hot mess". I believe the relish sets it off, yum! The size of the burger fills you (well me any way) now I'm looking forward to stopping back by & trying some of the side items and "The Harlem Shake" hopefully my future experiences are as pleasant as the others... For a girl who's not big on burgers and fries, I have to say Harlem Shake makes a mean burger and delicious fries. Actually, I didn't exactly order a burger or fries, but I took a bite my boyfriend's food. He had the Classic Patty Melt with a side of fries, and it was delish. I hate rye bread, but it wasn't a terrible bun replacement. I ordered the Vermont Cheddar Cheez Bliss with a small Harlem Shake (red velvet milkshake), yuuummy. The flavors on my melt were incredible, BUT they needed to add more melted cheese on it. My milkshake was also excellent, just way too small for $4.50. I will be coming back here for sure. Good job Harlem Shake. read more

Harlem Shake - American Near Me - New York, New York

I've come here many times but I am just getting around to writing a review. I stopped by Harlem Shake after work with a co-worker. Even though we're both working from home we have to keep up the tradition of grabbing a bite after work. What sets Harlem Shake apart is the consistency in the food that they put out. I can always count on them to get it right. Even though the food is simple, the flavors are spot on. I ordered the classic burger and added bacon, onions and cheese. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. They didn't skimp on the bacon, which was a plus. I also got the truffle fries which were great too- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Parmesan cheese would be a nice addition to the truffle fries for a little razzle dazzle. I really don't have anything negative to say, but I was just recommend the staff being more on top of sanitizing the tables after guests leave. I saw a few people just sit down after guests had left and no one had gotten a chance to clean off the tables. I will definitely be back, and I will certainly be trying one of the froze drinks before summer is officially over ! read more

I came here for the first time yesterday as I've been wanting to check harlem shake out for a while now. First impression: great decor, nice large space, awesome music mix, I ordered a vege burger special ($10 for a HS burger, fires or coleslaw and a drink) I think that's a great deal. My fiancé and I are doing a vege challenge hence the veggie burger order, so when that's over I can't wait to try the cheese burger. I took a seat and waited for the device I was handed to ring to let me know the burger was ready. Took longer than expected however I was not in any rush, just hungry! The fries are good, obviously fried in fresh oil, great crunch. The vege burger was nice, however the pattie could do with some re working. I've had better. The special sauce is nice. Overall great place for a burger, can't wait to come back and try the cheese burgers. I also like they are starting a 'miss harlem shake' competition. read more

I like this place. It's a fairly pleasant atmosphere and the food matches. I had a Harlem Classic with fries and a fountain root beer. Not much to say about the root beer; it's standard fast food fountain soda. They did have fancier fountain drinks and shakes but I wanted more liquid than a dessert drink. They even had glass bottle Coke and Fanta made with real cane sugar. Next time I'll try one of those... The burger was surprisingly good, though by its appearance you wouldn't think it would taste all that great. The patties are VERY thin for hamburgers; they're almost like someone made a meatloaf, froze it and then machine sliced the burgers from that. They were juicy and the special sauce was the right touch. The top-off was the nice slices of plum tomatoes instead of the regular round ones, and shredded lettuce instead of whole leaves. All in all, I'd go back to try something else. The seating is a bit tight, but if you go at the right time, you should be able to get a spot. read more

Bah, this place is really unpredictable: one day you receive fast service and good food, the other day it's a hot mess. We went for brunch, the place was crowded but not full and we ordered blueberry pancakes. 1) we waited almost 1 h for three pancakes which is ridiculous 2) **EDITED** they were out of blueberries and they informed us immediately, but we decided to get them anyway, plain. BUT they charged us the full price, albeit the blueberries are the ingredient that makes most of the price... Again, ridiculous 3) pancakes were flat and a little bit sad and not well cooked (picture attached). 4) **EDITED** the owner answered to this review right away and was very helpful and attentive, which I highly appreciated. There's no need for a refund, I just hope to get a proper pancake next time! read more

Ordered for delivery online before reading the reviews about delivery. Long story short I ordered fries a specialty BAE burger and a specialty Mississippi mud shake $9. They ended up taking over the time stated to deliver and forgot my shake, so I had to call the number and they had to refund my whole purchase then charge me again minus the shake because I wasn't sure if the delivery man even went back to get it that I would get the shake within a decent time. The burger was good but not crazy delicious, I wasn't a big fan of the fries. I was also annoyed seeing I just got refunded the shake and tip was in my card they still got the whole tip amount on the full order. My burger and fries came out to about 22$ and if I had known that I would've just gotten the restaurant week deal they had for two burgers and two fries for 21.21, but seeing they messed up I ended up paying way more for way less. read more

Harlem Shake - bae burger and Jerk Fries W/Jerk Mayo - American Near Me - New York, New York

I hate myself for loving Harlem Shake so much. Yes, I've spent $7.75 without including tax THREE TIMES THIS WEEK for a chocolate peanut butter shake. It just hits the spot. It's so good. I've worked in the area for almost a year and have just avoided this place, but this week I fell prey. It was hot. I was stressed out. I wanted a chocolate peanut butter shake. While I waited, I realized I was hungry, and I didn't even look at the menu. I asked the cashier, "Can I try a basic cheeseburger, too?" Well. It was no basic cheeseburger. It was this delightfully crafted masterpiece, with just the right amount of onions, pickles, cheese, and some special orange mystery sauce. Thin patties grilled to be slightly crispy on the edges and juicy all around. If you're looking for a fancy gourmet quarter pound burger - this is not the place. This is a place for ordinary, every day kind of greatness. Today for lunch I was working from home and there were some reviews on Seamless that made me a little hesitant. I didn't want cold food, soggy fries, or no straw for my shake, like some people mentioned. It also estimated a 60-70 minute wait. I gave them a try anyway. My apartment buzzer rang 28 minutes after I hit "place order". 28 minutes! That's less than half the estimate. My third chocolate peanut butter shake of the week arrived with TWO LIDS! One without a straw hole so it wouldn't leak and then a dome top! It was kept in a separate part of the delivery guy's complex delivery backpack and felt just as cold as the two times this week when the shake was handed to me across the counter. Perfect. My food was in a separate section and the bag was hot! Yes! But I was concerned for my cheese fries or that my burger would have lost it's crispness, you know? I ran up the stairs to my apartment to find my cheese sauce (which was real cheese and not fake orange nacho stuff...you know what I mean...) was in a container separate from my overflowed container of crispy fries. My burger was fresh, with crispy edges on the patty, just how I like it. I'd show you pictures, but I ate all of it. Every time. No shame. I've had to sacrifice air conditioning to pay for these meals, but I am blessed to work and to live within the vicinity of this fine establishment. read more

First the good things, the jerk fries with jerk mayo are delicious and different. They are not necessarily spicy but have a nice smokey flavor. A friend had the Turkey burger and thought is was tasty and lean. I had the Classic Burger, which is described as two lean sirloin patties. The two patties I was served were actually one whole pattie sliced in half (as you can clearly see pictured). I wouldn't have a problem with that if they were juicy but they were so thin that majority of the meat was cooked too well/crispy on the outside that there were gaps between the meat so they weren't even "full" patties. I wouldn't get the burger again, which is disappointing since it should be one of their "better" menu items. There are enough other items on the menu that I would def go back and try the rest since my friend had a more positive experience with his turkey burger. read more

It's a self service type of place - order at the register, pay your bill, walk the food over to your table in trays. Don't expect any service here. This place is overpriced. I mean the tiny beef burger and chicken burgers were delicious but spending 30 bucks on the two of them and 1 small fries is just too much. Even the presentation of the food could've been done to make me feel good about how much I spent but the tray just looked sad. Also I made the mistake of thinking the hot honey chicken were wings and not a burger but as I stated the food was good despite the lackluster presentation..
