They have a cute outside seating and waiting area; The atmosphere was cozy and had nice decor. The diner inside is small and they adhered to safety protocols. The staff were friendly and informative. Our waitress was helpful with choosing options on the menu and she was quick with placing in our orders. We had mimosas which were delicious. I ordered the "customize" omelette (bacon, cheese & spinach); it was good as well as the home fries and short stack. Overall loved the decor, customer service and food. If you have never been to the Harley Dawn Diner you are missing an exceptional dining experience. This is not your typical New Jersey Dimer. The decor is more reminiscent of a upscale restaurant. High ceilings and earth tones provide a warm atmosphere. Everything on the menu is locally sourced and sustainable. I had the "Classic Diner Meatloaf" served with mashed potatoes and coleslaw ( choice of two sides) and soup or salad. I chose the Tomato Soup. Best Tomato Soup I have ever had. The meatloaf portion was huge and very tasty. My wife had the Shrimp and Scallops Fra Diablo. Not a dish you would think to order in a Diner. The fettuccine pasta was freshly made in house. The seafood was fresh and abundant. The sauce was deliciously spicy. My husband and I have been wanting to stop here over the past few years since we moved down to this area. On the way home from the shore we wanted to grab a bite to eat and decided to finally give this diner a try. I wasn't really in a diner mood, but it was on the way and we figured why not.. well, when we walked in I was pleasantly surprised by the set up! Although it has the word "diner" in the name, it felt more like a nicer restaurant between the set up and the menu. It was very clean and modern-looking, and the menu had a vast selection like many other diners, including a full breakfast menu. I was either expecting to see items out of my price range or your generic diner food, and although they did have some of the generic diner food, they had plenty of other unique options that was very reasonably priced. I got the goat cheese burger which included a good amount of goat cheese (which I love), an onion ring, spinach with balsamic dressing on a nice bun and plenty of delicious & crispy fries! The kids menu had a variety of options outside of just chicken fingers & cheeseburgers, so we got my daughter a breakfast kids meal (came with two huge pancakes, an egg, and bacon) and also included a free scoop of home made ice cream for dessert. We went on a Thursday between lunch and dinner and there weren't many people there so I can't say how the service would be on a normal busy day, but it seemed good to me. I was really on the fence between giving the new Harley Dawn a 3 or a 4, but at the end of the day, the food and service were great, so I decided to round up. The last time I was in Jersey to visit my family, the old diner stood here. A trip to the diner is a necessity for any trip back to NJ. My most recent trip was last week, and I couldn't wait to try it out! The design of the building is VERY different from before, and very different from traditional diners. The entire space is wide open with large floor to ceiling windows. We were quickly seated where we wanted and our order was taken not long after. My brother got pancakes, my mom and I went with french toast, and my kiddo got the Mickey Pancake plate w/ scrambled eggs. Everything came out quickly, and it all tasted great! My side of bacon was cooked perfectly crispy. They refilled our coffees constantly. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us often. I can't give 5 stars, because the vibe of the place just feels off. I love my diners to feel like diners. Just a personal preference. read more

The Harley Dawn Diner should be closed down for violating numerous COVID-19 guidelines. We called ahead and were told they were limiting seating and had available tables outdoors with heaters. We arrived at 6:00 (Friday). There were tables outdoors but they were only serving inside the diner. Three tables were taken when we were seated. Within 20 minutes, EVERY table was filled. The tables were less than 6' apart and all of the booths were full. Diners were walking around without masks talking to others seated across the room. Our waiter had only one string tied on his mask. It flapped as he spoke. He lowered the mask completely while mixing cocktails. The menus were not cleaned between uses. The food and service was mediocre. Once the diner started filling up, we felt unsafe and left without finishing our meals. I commented to the hostess about the overcrowding. She didn't see it as a problem. The diner is in a remote area. I'm certain no one checks for overcrowding. read more

The wife and I were on our way home from a fall festival and decided to give the "new and improved " version of Harley Dawn Diner. What a pleasant surprise. The old diner was dark and dingy, the new one is light, spacious and decorated very cool. Almost doesn't feel like a diner. Food was good! Wife: cream chipped beef with toast, she loved it. Finally made our way to the updated Harley Dawn and it was worth the trip. The old place always had good pies and comfort food and thankfully it was still great. The $13 Southern fried chop with mashed potatoes was a huge plate and fantastic even if the baked beans were basic. The sample home made bread was great and if there were loaves to sell we def would have bought one. The new place is huge and even better looking inside than I could have imagined. I've driven past the Harley Dawn Diner nearly every morning (that I have gone into work) and every afternoon for the past 17 years. On 2 occasions prior to their re-model, I actually ventured inside the establishment...once for breakfast and once for dinner. The previous decor was just what you would assume in a small, local Jersey diner. The bright, silver exoskeleton offered just enough neon to entice passersby but wasn't overwhelming to the point of continuing to drive past a place emblazoned with enough light to rival the Sun. However, as times change...so do our eateries. This review reflects the new Harley Dawn; a welcomed, necessary, and effective improvement on an established original. While I have been to Harley Dawn not once, not twice, but thrice since it's grand re-model, this review reflects my most recent breakfast experience...the benchmark for any diner worth it's weight in this state. As I've decided to become a more frequent YELP-er, this review will also a new format and one that is more reflective of the times. We will now transition to the review, FFS. F (Flair): The decor sure has changed. Gone are the antiquated diner surroundings. What was once shining silver is now weathered wood. Formica tables have been modernized such that the design wont wear off after years of industrial cleaner. There is a faux fireplace in the middle of the dining room, which is bordered by doors which can be opened for a more al fresco local dining experience. While this adds a more "in touch" experience with the local scene, the fact that this place borders a highly-trafficked road does not necessarily add to the ambience. Hope you don't go on a Friday afternoon after Memorial Day. Trust me on this one. That as an aside, the setting is a HUGE upgrade, and one that mirrors the locale and adds to the experience. It's similar to the many, many upstart breweries and distilleries that are flanking South Jersey. Overall grade: A. F (Food): The food has not waved bye-bye to traditional diner food. Instead, it uses those dishes as the basis for offering a few more upscale bites. Yes, you can still get SOS. Yes, omelets abound the menu. But the traditional "let me throw everything a farm has at you" combo morning meals that leave you full until dinner next week are gone. Instead, thoughtful takes on many traditional dishes are available. For my meal with 2 of the 5 ankle biters who inhabit my house, I chose an interesting take on Eggs Benedict...two crab cake sliders on an English muffin with poached eggs and hollandaise, dusted with Old Bay. If I could have eaten the plate, I would have. The dish was outstanding. Ankle Biter #1 had some type of chocolate Belgian waffle that seemed to contain enough sugar to supply energy for anyone attending Burning Man. He loved them, I hated Harley Dawn for offering this dish WITH syrup and whipped cream. Not their fault, bad parental decision on my part. Ankle Biter 2, because she is who she is, went off the grid with her order. No worries, I'm sure that most diners can accommodate a 13 year old who wants pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, juice, a cinnamon roll, and a taco. Just kidding. She didn't want the cinnamon roll. However, the special order was filled and AB 2 was satisfied...which was great considering I was flying solo for the next few hours. Overall grade: A. S (service): So, here was the hang-up, and I am going to not read too much into it due to the timing of our visit. Yes, we got there as soon as they opened. Yes, we ran in because we were cutting school/work and didn't want to be seen. But...there was only 2 other diners in the dining room. We waited for extended periods to order. Our waitress didn't bring our food, another employee did. She didn't necessarily check on us a whole heck of a lot, given the situation. Her accommodation of the special order was gratefully accepted, but it kind of just put a small shine on an otherwise dull performance. Sorry...but I gotta call it like I see it. As I said, maybe it was timing. Maybe she was doing prep work (I don't know because we didn't see her). Maybe there was a call-out. I don't know, I just know that this was the lone not-great part of an otherwise great experience. Overall grade: C. Try this place. Today. Tomorrow. Whenever. If you are looking for a stereotypical diner than this isn't your place. If you're looking for a good Bistro style restaurant the Harley Dawn Diner won't disappoint. When we arrived we were the only ones in the restaurant. Everything is made fresh in house but their menu is limited. I had hoped for a gyro but they don't serve that. They do have a lot of unique options though. I ended up with their salmon salad which had kale. It was fresh and wasn't too expensive. It was a good, inexpensive meal but don't come here if you're looking for a typical greasy spoon diner. I'll definitely be back! read more

Stopped for breakfast on the way back from AC Sunday 1/6 around 11 AM. First thing we noticed was that there were a lot of floor to ceiling windows, which is great for light but also not great where the sun is concerned. The majority of the tables near the windows were getting blasted by the sun, you could tell people were hot, fanning themselves and blotting sweat. Shades would make a world of difference. We thankfully had a booth to the side and in the shade. Food was solid. Had the cream chipped beef and an omelet. Potatoes are good. The coffee was good. They also have ice cream and some locally made items for sale. Our waitress was great up front but never came back to check on us after dropping our plates. My fiancé never got a refill on his coffee which was disappointing. There was not a wait for seating. Overall, good food, ok service. We would come Back again if we happened to be in the area, but likely wouldn't seek it out as a specific destination to eat at. read more

Well, the tore down the original Harley Dawn and rebuilt it with a modernized/industrial look inside and they did this keeping the facility as the GREENEST diner in its area. They are setting a great example that many others need to follow. As you walk in, the windows are floor to the open ceiling, allowing natural light in. These windows are also sliding glass doors that are opened in nicer days. There is no carpeting and the tables are made of natural wood. The ambiance reminds me of a rustic, yet modernized version of a micro brewery. Oh and guess what?? They serve craft beer now! If you've been to the original Harleysville Dawn, bring some duct tape to keep your jaw from dropping to the floor when you absorb the new, improved eatery in town. I went with my family for lunch. Our service was very attentive and respectful of all our questions. She was well-informed of the menu and the details regarding the solar powered facilties with underground systems in place. We started off with some DELICIOUS fried tomatoes. A light appetizer that you don't have to feel entirely guilty about eating. There is something unique about the breading. The cheese and sauce make for a tremendous compliment to this dish. Next came our lunch. It took a bit if a wait, but WELL worth it! The cheeseburger was huge and they prepare it with FRESH ground beef. Not like the typical fozen patty you might expect from a dinner. It was seasoned very well with the perfect char to leave your mouth watering and wanting more and more. My French dip was outstanding. I'm used to ordering the sandwich and it is usually a little tough in most other restaurants due to fatty pieces in the roast beef. I don't know what Harley Dawn is doing differently, but keep it up! Each bite was easy to chew and the au jus was such a tasty dip which the fresh baked French roll just absorbed. I devoured each last bite. Some other details we found out before we left is that they have their own herb garden. Everything about this new eatery has been planned and reviewed in the past 9 years. My husband and I were very disappointed in this diner today and we "diner experts"....as we go to many of them in NJ. The seats were wood. Very uncomfortable for long time sitting (over 30 minutes). Food: Overpriced and overcooked (at least what I had was). The so-called "homemade ice cream"? Very overpriced and tasteless....the scoops were so small it was ridiculous and expensive. I would NOT recommend this ice cream, it was NOT creamy like Hammonton's famous "Royal Crown" ice cream parlor which uses REAL cream and is not overpriced. I couldn't even tell what flavor I was eating here. We were overcharged but my husband said "Just forget it and let's get outta here".....we will NOT return. I'm used to diners being grease bomb affairs but Harley Dawn manages to pack in some real flavor into their food without needing the grease bomb. Nestled in the Pine Barrens with solar panels galore, the restaurant design felt modern and spacious. The bread the food came with was fantastic and the peach bread was sweet, but not too sweet. I appreciate how they did not skimp on the salad, using mixed greens and fresh croutons. And their homemade pasta is seriously good and, dare I say it, perhaps better than most Italian restaurants. I also appreciate how they gave us our own pitcher for water -- I am a hydration nut so that was nice of them. They have the menu and pricing of a diner, in a modern upscale building, with great service. What more could you ask? read more

I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. The food is great and it looks really nice inside since the remodel. My main complaint is that the menu is fairly small for what I'm used to from diners several page long menus and that some of the stuff is a little overcomplicated if you're after standard diner fare. If you're looking for a healthy upgrade from a diner where you can also get a drink then this is your place. Also the homemade ice cream is GREAT. read more
