This historic property is ideally located, just a short distance from the beaches, making it a breeze to enjoy the sun and surf. Our morning walks could not have been better and complete with Cape Cod views! We rented a Jeep for the trip and were pleasantly surprised to find a garage available, which made storing parts and beach gear super convenient. Thoughtful amenities elevated the experience, including umbrellas, beach chairs, and an unexpected highlight--unlimited Prosecco! The attention to detail was impressive, and you can find even more about their offerings online, as they're remarkably well organized. One of our favorite features was the music room, which houses a Yamaha baby grand piano, multiple saxophones, and guitars--a dream setup. Breakfast was perfect and always on time. We had been back to the area in 2017 but in mid summer elected to get a beach house rental for the week, walkable to Surf Drive Beach. But this fall we were returning for a shorter visit in order to see more of New England and friends from our past, so we booked here again. We learned that the inn had been sold in the interim and called to make a reservation. We discovered that the new owners Liza and Alfredo still ran it as an Inn but no longer as a Bed and Breakfast as they also had other careers and school age children. The name has been changed just a bit to reflect this. Though it was lovely in the past, we found it even more so now, even without the breakfast. You will not starve in the area. We did not, there are many choices. The Inn is just as lovely as before, though we were here in early fall during a rainy week, it was still very comfortable. If anything, the many updates made it even more so. It had been 11 years since our last visit, yet so much of the normal wear and tear we had expected were not visible. It was so fresh and cheerful in a mostly gloomy weather week. But we enjoyed every minute of our time in Woods Hole and Falmouth, from Nobska light, now restored and open twice a week for tours (do go up to the top of the tower) , Spohr Gardens, preparing for winter but monarchs still in the butterfly house, with some renovations to the aging wooden dock underway, Oyster Pond almost into fall colors, so much to see. Some new businesses to us on Main St in Falmouth, like Estia for Greek food right near the Green. For the first time ever, in a visit to Woods Hole, we did not see the drawbridge on Water Street open even once, though we ate two breakfasts at the venerable Pie in the Sky and a dinner at the Kidd. The labs were quieter than we have seen since our winter of 1980-81 though the research vessels in port. Still some activity around the Ferries but less than full summer. If you are fit and it is not raining, the Shining Sea bike path is still well used. It was so nice to be back, almost like coming home, which our former space was such a short distance from the Inn. Though busy with other careers too, Liza and Alfredo were very approachable and involved. When making arrangements for our reservations, Liza was accessible and full of information. She was raised nearby and knows everything about the area. Though they have 3 children, we never heard a peep or any disruption. It was a school week and they were taking care of their business too. We hope to return another time, in the summer, this really is our go-to place to stay in the area and in summer, I am sure the kids might be helping out too. We were so busy, I neglected to take any pictures but the previous ones are still good guides, minus the breakfast food. The room interior was still the historic furnishings but the usable floorings and bath fixtures are very new and modern. Do not hesitate, it is not a creaky old inn, like some places I have stayed around the country. It is respectful of the history but thoroughly modern where needed.

My friend made the reservation so I can't speak to that part, but I know the host answered a lot of questions via email before our stay. We checked on a Saturday around 3pm. The host (sorry, I forgot her name!) checked us in and gave us several maps of Woods Hole, Falmouth, and the Cape, giving us an overview of restaurants and activities nearby. She also offered us any beer and beverages in the mini frig in the dining room as well as checked in with any food allergies for breakfast. She was very accommodating for my friend with a gluten allergy. We got our keys to the upstairs room with a queen and twin bed. The room was very clean, airy, and had everything we needed. It included a closet with two robes, several towels in the bathroom, and a water pitcher with glasses. Breakfast the next morning was served between 8:30-9:30am outside on the deck area. The tables each had an umbrella, place settings, and a beautiful view of the yard with hydrangeas and other flowers all around. The first day we were there, we were served coffee and tea with juices inside (serve yourself) and mini muffins. Outside, the host brought us yogurt parfaits with fruit and granola to start. Then we were served a delicious bread pudding with berries and two sausage links. This was my favorite breakfast! The second day we had watermelon and blueberries then a potato frittata with red peppers on the side. Very filling and delicious too! The host also let us borrow beach towels and chairs for our first day at the beach. She gave us plenty of information on the beaches and parking. Any question we had, she was super helpful in answering! I could keep going on and on, but you get the idea! We checked out and left with a sweet gift of chocolate covered nuts and fruit!

There were seven of us and each of us had our own bedroom and private bath in the remodeled bed and breakfast inn. The Sea Meadow Inn was the home of Captain Isaiah Clark, built around 1783 on Route 6A, the Old King's Highway, in the town of Brewster which was often called the Sea Captains Town since so many built homes there. Now it is a bed and breakfast and each of the seven rooms has its own personality. I slept in the Jeremiah room, which was the room of Captain Clark's son Jeremiah, who scrawled his name on the attic door, and the name is still visible on the attic door! There is a large kitchen and sitting room in which we all gathered, as well a patio, a huge lawn with chairs, as well as a fire pit. I was there in October, but remnants of flowers were abundant in the gardens surrounding the house. The house has the floors, fireplaces, and nostalgia of an earlier era, but the private bathrooms and bedrooms are all nicely furnished. It's a magical place and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Cape Cod.

Any worries or concerns that I may have had disappeared the moment we pulled into the drive. From the impeccable landscaping to the timely and friendly greeting from the Inn owner, Pattie started the weekend off perfectly. She was both warm and inviting. She took the time to show us her beautiful property and all of its personalized, beautiful features and amenities. The rooms were spacious, impeccable and adorned with all of the luxuries you may want for a comfortable stay. The housekeeping crew left the room spotless and tidy each day as well. Watching Pattie work and care for her guests make the stay just that more special. She truly cares about her guests comfort. My friends and I were able to enjoy her delicious, homemade breakfasts (we could have done better of keeping her informed of any culinary preferences but she was able to accommodate a few reasonable requests). She has truly thought of every detail---from coffee/tea/filtered water access all day to homemade cookies ! Sitting on the veranda together whether in the evening or morning after breakfast, we were able to settle in surrounded by trees and enjoy one another's company. I have such mixed feelings about this place that I feel bad writing this review, but maybe it'll…read morehelp so here goes nothing. The property is well-maintained and clean. The rooms & common areas were tastefully decorated. My only gripe is that there is no fridge in the room. We were allowed to use the main fridge in the kitchen, but it's shared with everyone and can't be used while breakfast is going on, so I had to plan ahead if I wanted to take a drink out for breakfast and, obviously, it wouldn't be cold as a result. Mini fridges in the rooms would be great! They also had great toiletries (e.g., shampoo that doesn't make your hair feel like hay.) Service: This inn is run by husband and wife, Pattie and Randy. Pattie seems very well-intentioned and was helpful. She greeted us with a smile, answered all of our questions, had ferry tickets ready for the Vineyard, and was happy to provide recommendations for things to do, how to get to places, and so on. She was the quintessential innkeeper. Breakfast is served every morning and was delicious. Pattie was meticulous about dietary restrictions, which the three of us who had some very much appreciated. As a pescatarian who has been served clam chowder with bacon (after a lengthy convo about not eating meat) and had numerous encounters with people who don't understand that chicken is not a vegetable, I am grateful for people in the service industry who take dietary restrictions seriously. I didn't feel like I needed to ask her about every breakfast item to make sure I wasn't inadvertently eating meat because it was clear that she was already on top of that. They have about 6-8 tables out on the veranda and the innkeepers made sure that everyone would be seated promptly and with their entire party. Sounds great, why the hell did you only give it three stars? Randy. When I first met Randy, I thought he was funny in a deeply sarcastic way. Problem is, it quickly became clear that the sarcasm was mostly just him being rude and judgmental. Some examples follow but they're certainly not the only uncomfortable interactions we had with him: (1) when asked what kind of juice we wanted, both my husband and I said orange. He told us we were unoriginal. (2) when we disclosed we were going to Provincetown for whale-watching and walking around town, he told us he doesn't appreciate his guests doing that. His GUESTS, who paid a little under $1700 per couple for three nights at this place, were all vaccinated (and provided proof of such) and regularly wear masks, especially in indoor spaces had to worry about whether or not he approves of our vacation plans. In fact, when we first checked in, I wore a mask the entire time. I only took it off after noticing that Pattie wasn't wearing one so I figured they were comfortable with us not being masked because they had proof of our vaccine status. All the other guests also did not wear masks. (Writing reviews during COVID is bizarre.) I get his hesitancy (somewhat): we visited in late August of 2021; there was a COVID outbreak in Provincetown in early July of 2021. It was contained and Provincetown has been strictly enforcing masking since then. Plus, this outbreak was related to the Delta variant, which isn't unique to Provincetown. They never told us before we checked in that they were so concerned about Provincetown. We had already purchased tickets to whale-watching and weren't about to throw away $65/pp because the host of the place we paid to sleep at night didn't like it. If COVID is that serious of a concern they should either (1) warn their guests explicitly about these restrictions before booking or (2) not run their business during COVID. By the way, Provincetown was awesome. Loved whale-watching & Commercial St., while touristy, isn't depressingly so. I highly recommend a trip there! If you go, The Lobster Pot should absolutely be your lunch stop! (3) on the day we checked out, I saw Randy and asked if Pattie was around so that I could provide her with my credit card. Randy went to the entrance where there was apparently a bell to summon Pattie. I was next to the bell. He could've easily walked to the OPPOSITE side of the counter to ring the bell. Instead, he told me he likes to keep about 8' of distance and had me move to the other side of the room so he could ring said bell. I get social distancing and am happy to abide, but don't make your guests feel like lepers. He could've asked ME to ring the bell, or told me WHY he needed me to move. Instead, he told me he needed the 8' as he moved towards me so I could get out of his way. It was awkward and uncomfortable. One of my friends started wearing her mask--despite that neither Pattie nor Randy wear masks in their inn--because she also felt like he was being really judgmental and treated us like walking COVID hotbeds. (4) it seems they don't pay employees well? Randy made some comments about how they can't keep their help around b/c the gov't providing unemployment
