Let me start with: "I grew up enjoying Harold's Chicken in Chicago. KFC - Who? Popeye's, What? Church's - Yeah, they're good, but "Harold's Fried Chicken and Fish" along with their "sauce" was the BOMB... Unfortunately - this site lacked the quality and (worse) the SERVICE, waiting over 30 minutes for our "sit-down order", while I watched orders being picked up. Manager? we talked to went back to find out why, then returned to the "bar area" and didn't tell us why it was taking so long. Our waiter said they only had ONE cook... Really? They had 3 ladies, one bartending, one sitting at a table doing paperwork and the 3rd? Plus the "manager" who sat on his "booth", should have been able to "drop fries" or prepare the plates... This was the WORST service I've ever noted - and unfortunately, Harold's NAME is on it... Despicable... Hopefully you'll pay attention to ALL the comments that mention POOR SERVICE.... then CHANGE that. Oh... the food was okay (that's what the 2 stars represent), but again... I stopped here for the first time, after a recommendation from a friend that is from Chicago. It is setup as a bar, not a family oriented restaurant. I'm from Chicago & have been to Harold's Ice bar in Edgewood a couple times and they didn't miss! So I was hoping my visit to their new location in Duluth would be the same. I will say there was ample parking, the atmosphere was nice, & the music was great. It first started when I called to place my order over the phone & was asked did I mind paying for my order over the phone. I had cash so I drove to the location. I attempted to find a place at the bar to order but it was slightly crowded, so walked around & saw there was another bar hidden in the back it was crowded as well. So I finally saw a waitress & asked where could I place a takeout order. She told me she'd grab the person taking orders for takeout. Which they had to go find her. Before I got there I had looked at the menu online a 6 piece wing dinner with fries was $13.99. When I placed my order at Harold's physical location it was over $21 for one 6 wing dinner with fries no drink. I was advised by the waitress taking my takeout order it was an up charge on the weekends. So I down graded to a 4 wing dinner which ended being $17. I waited almost 30 mins for a 4 wing dinner. When I finally received my order & got home to eat it. The fries were extremely salty & I requested the mild sauce on top of my wing & fries, they put it on the side. I couldn't finish my food because it was so salty. If I have to have Harold's because I'm missing home I'll go to the Edgewood location or definitely I'll catch a flight home. Even though the Duluth location is 10 mins from my home. It was a total waste of my money & my time. read more

If I could give this place -0 stars I would. It is a rip off first off, secondly we were in a group and asked for separate bills. I asked for one bill which covered my food and my minor child's food and they gave us two separate bills and added a gratuity to her bill too in addition to their 3% service charge. Now to the food, the chicken was ok but the shrimp were super spicy and there was no mention of this on their menu. I told the waiter and he took the shrimp back and told me he would ask for new shrimp without the spice. After 10 minutes passed he finally came back with nothing but an sorry explanation. He told me he could give me new shrimp because they had given me 4 extra shrimp because the cook burned my shrimp the first time around. Mind you I didn't make this request this is how it was presented to me. The manager came out and offered new shrimp and me being the business minded individual that I am I told him not to waste more food just credit my bill which would be cost effective for them. Boy was it cost effective because he credited my bill $1.37 (what a joke). In the end the service overshadowed the food which is unfortunate. Sadly this was my first visit while in town and my last.
