6 piece wings and fries

Overall the food was very good, exceeded my expectations, and the cashier was very welcoming and hospitable. I enjoyed it a lot and it was a good introduction to Harold's without having to drive to the city. The place could use a bit of cleaning, but overall food was great and I would definitely be coming back.

Chicken Wings with mild sauce. Fast, accurate and still my favorite chicken joint.

We called in our order. The food was ready at the promised time. Everything was fresh and hot. We were greeted as we walked in. Everyone was friendly.

Gizzard and wing combo with mild sauce

I was skeptical about patronizing this particular Harolds location due to several of the comments and reviews left by other Yelp members; however, I'm glad that I gave it a try for myself! I am born and raised in the south of Chicago, so Harolds was pretty much a staple in every neighborhood that I went to. Now living far north, the drive to get to this location took me over 30 minutes - so my expectations were high. I was greeted by the cashier as soon as I walked in, and I ordered a gizzard and wing combo. I waited less than 10 minutes and opted to eat there in the restaurant. The staff checked on me to ensure everything was to my liking and my meal was hot, fresh, and flavorful - with a perfect amount of sauce on top. I will certainly return when I'm craving a little bit of my hometown staple!

I got the catfish and wing combo and I would say it was ok. It was hot and made fresh so that definitely helped but we waited over 30 minutes for food when we were the only ones there. We liked the lemon pepper seasoning but I wasn't a huge fan of the mild sauce or the coleslaw that gets served on the side. If you're looking for good wings I wouldn't say don't go but we've had better.

Ok. Harolds Chicken #41 in Schaumburg. One of my co-workers mentioned that there was a Harold's Chicken not too far from the job. I was out for lunch and had a taste for some good ole chicken wangs. When I pulled into the shopping lot. I wasn't for sure if I wanted to get out. It looked a bit shabby and ran down. I took a chance and went inside and place my order. The prices are a bit pricey. 4pc wing dinner for $10.00 ridiculous. I ordered the $5.00 snack deal 2pc wing that comes with fries and small cole slaw. My food was freshly cooked and crispy just the way I like my chicken. Except the Cole slaw it tastes like it was sat out overnight and put back in the fridge. The young gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and polite.

"Small" catfish dinner.

I get take out catfish every time I see it practically. I was here once before, a few years back, and generally had a favorable impression of the food and value. Most places I get a "small catfish dinner" which pretty universally consists of 3 fish filets, fries, and a piece of white bread or roll. Not so at Harold's today. Including tax, over $14 for the "small" which in their minds, is one small filet of fish along with the fries, a slab of white bread on the bottom to soak up all the grease. But the flavor was still good. I just feel a little cheated on the quantity. Another quirk, both times I've been, they don't have tartar sauce or lemon available for the fish. They offer "mild or hot" sauce, ketchup, or ranch. Neither of those choices appealed to me. I'm a pretty regular fish customer at Franks in Hoffman Estates, or Chums in Algonquin. I'll stick with them from here on out.

Food was unbelievably dry, basically like mcdonald's. I'd probably prefer mcdonald's.

The individual at the counter was very friendly and gave me recommendations after telling him it was my first time. I love buffalo wings, and he recommended the smash burger. Food wise, it's not bad, but it's not great. I personally prefer my wings to have the crispy skin exterior where theirs is made with what seems to just be the chicken+sauce. Reviewing a spot like this is interesting since for me personally I take into account how much I paid for the meal compared to how good it is. For this burger and 6 wings, the total came out to be $24.68. If this meal somehow could be closer to something like $15-$20, I'd probably give it four stars and return some day. I get it's a difficult in this economy, but I've had better for cheaper.

I thought both flavors were pretty good - Honey Thai Chili and Soy Garlic. There was extra sauce in the recess of the container for each flavor that I used a spoon to pour over the chicken which was necessary, especially for the Soy Garlic since the pieces were on the dry side otherwise. I didn't care much for the fried rice because there was too much sesame oil. The eggrolls were good and the included dipping sauce container was huge! The parmesan garlic fried corn was good too. Overall would try again but would avoid the rice plates and get the chicken by itself. Visit date: 3/13/26

There's a little bit of a wait, but I get that. Also want to give a shoutout to the solid, ventilated takeout boxes. They don't get soggy, and they keep the crunch of the chicken on the drive back home! Ambiance: I can't speak to that because my husband went to pick up our food from this location, but as for the new HMart location, it's what one would expect from a food court situation except newer and shinier. (be forewarned that seating is somewhat limited in that HMart, especially if you go on a weekend.) Price: Prices are what they are these days, and while it feels a bit pricy for wings, it's definitely comparable to BWW/any other local dive. Plus, the wings are BIG. Overall, my husband has gone to get chicken from bb.q Chicken (which stands for "best of the best quality" chicken, he was told!) twice within 2 weeks, so I think that speaks for itself. I got -shrimp po boys (x-tomato) with fries -one of each sauce -peach cobbler On my 15 minute drive home everything was still fresh and warm and crispy. -Fries were SO perfectly seasoned I almost didn't even need a sauce, which for me is crazy as I need a sauce with everything (but I always try it first without). -The po boy...my god. It was so crispy, fresh, the shrimps were perfectly battered (hate when they hide the shrimp between 10 layers of batter), the lettuce was fresh and surprisingly not wilted by the time I got to my destination. I'm not one for cheese on my po boys, and almost got it without, but im actually really glad I kept the cheese on. -Sauces were all great, the Roumalade is where it's at though. I could've really just had 10 of those and been happy! The tarter was a bit less zesty/tart than what I'm used to, but I ended up putting the hot sauce in it and it was delicious -peach cobbler i have yet to try, but it looks so glossy and creamy, will be eating tonight! The service was really just the cherry on top. Elizabeth, the owner, is the one who greeted me, and she was just a doll. She's a sauce queen, like me, so she made sure I try every single sauce! And gave me the peach cobbler on the house as it's my first time there. She's just the sweetest! You can tell her, her husband, and her son just have so much fun together. I'm just so warmed by my experience there, as she went so above and beyond, AND my food was impeccable. She insisted that I upgrade to the plate instead which included cole slaw and potato salad for a small extra fee so I proceeded to lock it in. Shortly after, her husband Kenny greeted me and we had a friendly talk for a while. They hooked me up with an additional side and drink (they did not have to do that) which I thought was a very kind gesture. My food came out prompt, hot and fresh. I ate a few shrimp and fries while there before hitting the road. Everything was crispy, seasoned well and appetizing. I ate the cole slaw and potato salad later at work and enjoyed each.
