Their time to respond was fast. We got this company assigned by Fidelity National HW our home warranty insurance. Within a couple of hours, they showed up to check our water heater, I was working and my wife had to show him that our water heater was not working. Because we recently bought this property, we don't have proof of purchase of this water heater, the technician called the manufacturer to order the parts needed to get it fixed but he informed my wife that even the manufacturer will cover the parts she will need to pay for the part's installation which he quoted around $250.00 My wife called the water heater company, and they told her that we have no warranty since we are not the original owners of the water heater, so the manufacturer won't pay for repair and the technician informed the Home Warranty that the equipment WAS UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, which is not true. This has caused us more trouble than if he would just ask if we purchased this water heater or not. Anyway, I am not complaining about their service, but about their lack of communication with my wife, if he has informed the home warranty that the manufacturer's warranty is not transferable to the new owners, we would have already gotten our water heater repaired or replaced. We have been without hot water for more than 3 days, and the temperatures are dropping in the lower 40s this weekend and next week. We need our hot water fixed and now Fidelity National HW does not want to honor our claim because the technician reported that the unit was still under warranty. read more

So my home warranty company sent 3 different companies and 4 different technicians to fix my water heater. Jorge from Harris was the only one who throughly diagnosed the issues. Jorge was my technician and he was very thorough, very professional, friendly and demonstrated strong technical expertise with how he explained things to me. The repair guy Joseph was really honest and explained everything to us clearly and fixed our heater. He had us call PG&E bc he heard a concerning noise coming from our gas meter and he was right! Harris installed a water heater in my house 18 months ago. They were fast and efficient, but not inexpensive. Now, 18 months later, I was having a problem with the overflow valve that forced me to turn the heater off. I called on Friday afternoon -- the worst possible timing for anyone with a broken appliance -- especially if you live in coastal San Mateo county. They had someone here by Saturday morning. He diagnosed & fixed the bad valve in 15 minutes. There was no charge as it was a warranty repair. The technician was friendly and polite -- and extremely professional. read more

We were thinking of electrifying our water heater and purchasing a hybrid heat pump water heater eventually, but once we discovered our gas heater was leaking it became urgent. I got 3-4 quotes from other guys, including companies that focus on HVAC systems and a "fast" water heater specialist, but ended up with more questions than answers. For example, we learned that a 50g gas heater must be replaced with a 65g heat pump water heater, which is tricky if you're space-constrained. And if you want to qualify for the substantial rebates ($3000-4000!) you need to follow the rules on tank size. Additionally, the HPWH cools the room that it sits in and makes a little bit of noise, which is also a consideration for indoor locations. So I called up a fifth company to help us figure this all out: Harris Water Heaters. And they really came through! At first I was hesitant because they charged $149 for the diagnostic visit, but it was well worth it (and it was applied to the cost of the eventual install). Jorge came out and clearly explained all the considerations, helped to "engineer" the optimal solution based on our unique constraints. Afterwards, Bryan patiently answered all my phone calls while I puzzled through the options. Eventually we settled on a very sensible solution of relocating the larger HPWH to a cabinet just outside. I couldn't believe it, they were able to do the complete work in less than a day, and it was absolutely the right thing to do. Had I gone with any of the other 4 companies, we would have ended up with a smaller HPWH that would have made us ineligible for rebates, or a properly sized HPWH squeezing impractically into a space too small. Thanks to Bryan for talking sense into me, and thanks to Jorge for doing such a great job on the install, and making it work - even with some last minute changes to the location. They even coordinated the electrical work the same day and took care of all the rebates. Highly, highly recommended, especially for this brave new world of HPWHs! And the price was fair too: very competitive, but even with the extra charge for relocating the system it was still not the most expensive. A very happy customer! read more
