I gave them a bad review awhile ago because it really was bad cooked food. I wanted roast beef and thought I'd give them another chance. The fries were perfect, I watched them cook and they do double cook them . I know they do this to speed up the orders because if you order fries elsewhere it takes a while for a basket full to cook. The beef was rare to medium rare and tasty. They have redeemed them selves today and will go back to a loyal customer. The cooking oil was fresh that's what made the difference. Ps. The woman cooking the fries was VERY polite and had excellent customer service attitude. Something other employees should take notice too. Well done please pass on to the employees especially to her. We have been coming to Harrison's for so long and we always LOVE it. Funny thing is we had heard about the review regarding lettuce on the sandwich. Today we ordered 4 sandwiches and two came with lettuce which we had not ordered. Always the one to beat. Yes, it's a dive at this point but the sandwiches are great. Rare roast beef with onion, mayo, and heavy sauce is my go-to. Messy and delicious. I forgot about this diamond! The staff were super friendly and outgoing. Food was cooked super fast! We literally ordered, picked out condiments and sat at a table, food was done! Fries were old school crinkle cut, crispy and fresh! The spinach roll is super for a quick snack! You have to try a giant pickle! They also have an old school Koolaide machine! Prices were reasonable; our order totaled $28 and some change. We ordered chicken fingers, large fries, two spinach rolls, a giant pickle, two drinks and a Large Roast beef on an onion roll three way. The inside is similar to a sub shop with dining tables. I had my wife call ahead so I could run in and run out that was about at 2:50pm. After trying to call for over 6 minutes she finally got through to place the order. By then I'm only a few minutes away and so when I arrived and gave my name, one of the people preparing the food said loud and clear that's its just too bad he'll have to wait. Then he proceeded to tell me to pull my mask over my nose because the edge of it was at the tip of my nose with a real nasty attitude. Have been to the much praised NICK's in Beverly and wasn't thrilled either. I have been a devotee of Harrison's since I was a kid. My parents first took me to Riley's Roast Beef/ S Lawrence which is what it was Harrison's was before moving to North Andover. We went there once a week, we did not even go to church weekly but went to Riley's for Roast Beef sandwiches. We for years went to Harrisons- not anymore. All I can say is what happened.... the last time I was there the roll was stale... I gave it another shot and forget it. The place is filthy. Customer service was down right terrible! The employee / cashier (very long bearded man) was very rude, and lacked every social skill that is needed to work in the food industry. Our first encounter with him several weeks back was pretty terrible, he totally ignored us (with a scowl looking face), while answering the phone multiple times. When you have a customer that's been standing in front of you for over 10/15 minutes, that paying customer should be acknowledged. We did not even get a simple "one moment please", or a simple I'll be right with you. No,we were totally ignored. When he finally did acknowledge us, he was pretty rude. No please or thank you's. We decided to go back to Harrison's today, and give it another chance. To our surprise, the customer in front of us turned around to say the same exact complaint and also showed his disgust. We couldn't believe this man's rudeness once again. This time we came to our senses... turned around walked out the door and decided to take our business else where. What's so great about Harrison's? Nothing. People come to this dirty, out-of-date sandwich shop by the droves but I cannot understand why. The roast beef is "eh", the bread and onion rings are soggy and disappointing. Simply put, it's not Kelly's. While the roast beef is just as good as Kelly's, nothing else is. I found the place to be very dirty and felt gross leaving the place. People from all around come to this local spot for glorious roast beef sandwiches, delicious pizza rolls, and to witness the very original language being used by the staff. Growing up, it was always an exciting treat to get Harrison's. I used to be a 'beef mustard' kid which is a medium sized roast beef sandwich with mustard. But as I've grown, I'm now a 'large mustard' which is a large roast beef sandwhich on a bulky onion roll with mustard. I've always been a 'med' though and that hasn't changed. 'Med' meaning medium fries. Ya follow? People usually have their favorites and stick to them. You've got roast beef people, pizza roll people, and chicken tender people. Once in a while you might find a roast beef person ordering a pizza roll on the side for a treat. Don't bother trying to eat here when the high school football game has ended or it's a half-day for the public schools--like I said, this is a local favorite so be prepared to wait in line! The place itself is straight out of the 70s. A rundown little ranch building that they just 'renovated' and by that I mean painted the graffiti and tables. But you know what? We love it. Let me begin by saying that this is the best roast beef I have ever tasted. My problem is the service, I've been many times, this is not an isolated incident. They are always rude, like they are doing you a giant favor by not kicking you out, this was my last experience: I'm on my way to work and want to grab a sandwich to eat on the way there so I call in and order a large roast beef. They tell me that I can come right in. I show up perhaps 10 minutes later and there is no one in line. I think great I can be in and out and not be late for work. I stand at the counter for literally 4:43 seconds catching the eye (and smiling at) multiple employees multiple times before anyone even says a word to me, they are wandering around behind the counter assembling some other order or something. Finally the one who has been avoiding my gaze the whole time comes to the register. He asks if he can help me. I tell him I have an order for pick up and he looks around, its not there, he tells the girl cutting meat and she says "oh I haven't made it yet" and starts making it. The guy says it will take "two seconds". About 2 minutes later I have my sandwich and am walking out. TL;DR - If you call in, they won't start making your food until you get there. This place is considered a local landmark and I have no idea why. The sandwiches are always soggy and carry only a single, unimpressive note to them. It's like deciding to eat a brick of meat without caring what kind of meat it is, with no concern regarding quality, preparation, presentation or consistency. On top of lacking any kind of variety or customization, there's literally nothing impressive about the sandwiches here. The sides are even worse. If prepared anywhere near properly, you're in luck beyond hitting to lotto. Most everything is overheated or slightly cold, whether fried or fresh, as if they just kept everything on chill until somebody decided for some reason they wanted a pizza roll or some fries. On top of that, the decor is impressively depressing. All the walls seem as if they were papered years ago, and the dining areas obviously haven't been updated since the 90's. We have lived in the area for years and this was a spot our son and his friends go, so we decided to give it a try getting roast beef sandwiches for the family. Although the sandwiches were good, the atmosphere is like a low end pizza shop and their service was awful. It seems rather than running a business and providing great service, it's more like hangout for the staff and making sandwiches for us was an inconvenience. Their customer service was non-existent, the guy that took our order only made 3 of the 4 sandwiches and then just stood around talking with his co-workers and it wasn't until another guy looked at our order ticket and finally made our last sandwich that we got our order. Damn. I grew up next door to Harrison's in Village Green. During the summers we used to sit around the pool and we'd place a huge order and one of us would go up to pick it up. At the time, I didn't realize what I was dealing with. This is the most underrated roast beef joints in the county, state, country, hemisphere, world. No kidding around here. It beats any other roast beef place anywhere. I recommend ordering the following: lg beef w/ extra sauce, cheese, and radish on the side, pizza roll (a must try - deep fried pizza), french fries, onion rings, cookies, pickle, and a mocha shake (maybe not at the same time). The roast beef is thin and warm just the way it's meant to be (in my book). I'm not trying to review other roast beef places here, but this place outdoes Kelly's without even trying. read more

But the roast beef is the best. Thinly sliced and dripping with their incredible sauce and extra cheese. The sandwich literally brings tears of joy to my eyes. It will have you licking the wrapper when you're done and running back to the counter to order another. Having gone to high school in NA I was here twice a week and now that I'm living in the city I miss it dearly. Try to avoid it on a Friday night during HS football season.
