    Root Beer Glazed Chicken Sandwich
    Pam P.

Note to management: the Root Beer Glazed Chicken Sandwich deserves the same wet nap treatment as wings and ribs. It's ridiculously good, but your hands will look like you wrestled the sandwich and lost. At least the airport restroom is right across the hall for the inevitable cleanup. Soooo delish.

Classic local bar and restaurant historical venue downtown Indianapolis. Beautiful interior floors walls ceilings. Team work at bar with Brenda and Amanda. I had kale salad with grilled that was fresh and tasty.

What a surprise lunch at Harry & Izzy's!!!! So to preface this I was asked if I like shrimp cocktail....oh yes please!!! I wasn't warned that it was hot as hell and the way I eat shrimp cocktail it is one big bite. Needless to say there were tears. After the tears dried there was a smile. The best shrimp cocktail ever!!!! The amount of horseradish in the cocktail sauce is unreal. DON'T TAKE ONE BIG BITE!!!! This is your warning!!! It cleared any sinus issues I had for sure. We ordered a prime rib sandwich and the Emerald Kale Salad. The Kale salad was so full of flavor with aged manchego, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, cilantro vinaigrette, and peanut satay sauce. Highly recommend. The service was amazing by the way. Top notch for sure. The ambiance is classy, crisp and clean. The Prime Rib Sandwich looked amazing as well. So glad I went and thank you Harry & Izzy's for the most entertaining Shrimp Cocktail experience ever!!!

Harry & Izzy's is a sister restaurant to St. Elmo's. Peyton Manning is an investor and partner of the company. #18 had good taste in food because the shrimp cocktail is delicious. Spicy and sinus clearing but world famous for being so! They do have a milder version if you can't take the heat. The service was great! Our waiter was nice and very friendly and helpful. The filet sliders were tender and so good! The chips came with a really good French onion dip! I wish I had the recipe for it! The Caesar salad was fresh and the croutons were great. They were perfect and not rock hard like most restaurants. The star though is the shrimp cocktail! Chilled and delicious dipped in that spicy hot horseradish cocktail sauce. No other place can compare to it. It's made fresh daily and it's just the best!! Now, I need to go to the original St. Elmo's and try it there. Yum! One day!

1/21/26- special 2000th review!-***** Arrived and had dinner reservations at 6 pm for six people.. Staff was very attentive and professional . I went with the prime rib sandwich and asked if I could get half French fries half onion rings..(I think I ended with a whole order of onion rings).. Prime rib sandwich with the au jus and fries was very good! Thanks fellow Yelper Katherine A. for posting a review which led me to the French dip! Also got their signature shrimp cocktail..mild sauce.. Sauce was not too spicy but then I only drizzled some on top. A nice shrimp cocktail - not too big and not too small. Perfect sized appetizer. Hubby went with the New York steak.. (which they butterflied).. unfortunately, it was cooked more than requested.. One guest ordered the turkey burger, one had a salad and two had the steaks. Desserts were a brownie sundae- decent and moist- One ordered the cheesecake- one with the special bread pudding ..

I can't recommend this place enough. My group was in town for a conference and we decided to do a group lunch here. It was fantastic! The services was great, the food was top notch and it was also my birthday which they were kind enough to acknowledge. I loved have the ability to order the lunch special which gave me the opportunity to try so many things. I had such a hard time choosing so this was perfect. I was able to try their signature shrimp cocktail which was so good! VERYYYY Spicy but after the burn wears off it tastes so good! This portion size was more than enough and I was stuffed afterwards. I also highly recommend the French onion soup. This is one of the best soups I've ever tasted. I can't wait to come back to Indiana again so I can come back to this restaurant!!

Harry and Izzy's is the companion restaurant to the world famous Saint Elmo's steakhouse. It features many of the same types of food, including premium aged steaks and of course, the well-known shrimp cocktail that everyone raves about at Saint Elmo's. The name of this restaurant is a nod to two best friends who owned an operated Saint Elmo's for years here in Indianapolis. there are several locations in the city, including one at the airport. You can expect the same high-quality service and attention to the culinary details at each place. Sometimes parking can be a little tricky in downtown Indianapolis, but with some preplanning and thought it shouldn't be too difficult. I would recommend trying to make a reservation prior to arriving. this restaurant is committed to being disability accessible.

Our group of 12 came in for a Monday night dinner. We were seated upstairs which is a bit more basic than the downstairs seating with its lighting and bar. Service was provided by 2 people, both attentive and polite. My old fashioned cocktails were well-crafted. The complimentary bread was buttery and flavorful. While I don't eat shrimp, I tried the famous cocktail sauce on a cracker and enjoyed the zing. I loved my wedge salad - maybe my favorite part of the meal. The prime rib sandwich is another favorite, especially for a person that doesn't want steak (or the cost of it). It came with fries. Sides are ala carte. Brussel sprouts were fantastically crispy. The sides felt somewhat unneeded though and it felt like a lot of money went to waste. Be mindful of your entrees coming with sides and that they're big for sharing. We were too stuffed for dessert - plus the bread pudding I'd have wanted took 20 minutes to prepare. If you're going to have some, this is the one to pick.

We visited Indianapolis from Milwaukee the other weekend to see a concert. Two friends of ours from Ohio suggesting getting together for dinner and strongly recommended Harry & Izzy's. I'm sure glad they did. This was an exceptional experience all around. Our server was top-notch in all regards -- friendly, informative, and attentive. We tried a variety of cocktails in our lengthy stay. Elmo Cola, Old Fashioned...they were great. The "world famous" St Elmo shrimp cocktail is worthy of its title. Holy cow. I've had St Elmo cocktail sauce from the store, but the one they serve in the restaurant is an entirely different experience. Every single bite I took resulted in a blast of horseradish heat shooting up my nostrils, but it was addicting -- I couldn't stop eating it. Best shrimp cocktail I've had in my life...by a mile. And the steak. I feel like I'm full of hyperbole here but it was also one of the best restaurant steaks I've had. The steak itself was made perfectly, but I think what really brought it all together was the orange brandy butter sauce. I'm sure we'll come back to Indianapolis...and Harry & Izzy's will be a certain stop.

In town for a work conference, we brought a large group of 12 for dinner. Harry & Izzy's is the sister spot to St. Elmo. Same pedigree, but with a bigger dining room and broader menu. Food: We started with brussel sprouts and calamari. Both were flavorful and well prepared. For my entrée, I ordered the ribeye "Izzy's Way" (pepper crusted and served in a bath of steak sauce). Normally I avoid steak sauce, but this was excellent and worth ordering in Indy. Sides of mushrooms and broccolini were just okay. Dessert stole the show. The banana bread pudding was phenomenal. Easily the best bread pudding I've had anywhere. The local black coffee paired perfectly. Service and Atmosphere: Service was attentive and smooth, even for a big group. The dining room has a warm, lively atmosphere without being overwhelming. A great place to bring colleagues or friends for a solid steakhouse experience. Bottom line: If you are downtown and want a great steak dinner, Harry & Izzy's is worth it. Go for the ribeye Izzy's Way, but do not leave without trying the banana bread pudding.

Service is outstanding! Wes, our server recommended so many delicious things! We were not disappointed! His nice, easy going personality matched his professionalism. He has a great sense of humor too! Dinner was delicious and we're so happy to have tried this steakhouse. It is decorated so well with linen tablecloths, velvet window curtains, perfectly subdued lighting and classy murals/artwork on the walls that's relative to the era this fancy restaurant first came to be. All in all, it has a lovely ambiance, excellent customer service and tasty dishes!

And only a half block walk from the Omni Hotel we were staying in! Food (5/5): Well, this place would not have lasted since 1902 if the food wasn't delicious. And it did not disappoint. We have been eating so much lately that we ordered an appetizer and main and the kitchen split everything in half. Bread: Delicious fresh made rolls of onion and pumpernickel. The best thing was the cheese lavosh crackers, which were hiding in the bottom - we almost missed them! They said they purchase the lavosh, then put garlic butter and cheese on them and bake them. Just wonderful! Shrimp cocktail - Of course we had to try this! The large shrimps were hiding under a mound of freshly grated horseradish and tomato paste to make a spicy, eye watering cocktail sauce. Iconic indeed! The main came with "bean soup" which sounded not great, but it was surprisingly good. It had chunks of ham and carrots and tasted more like split pea soup. The main also came with a side - we opted for the loaded baked potato and it was perfectly cooked. Nothing like a great baked potato with sour cream, cheese, and bacon! Filet mignon - We got the 8oz (medium rare) and the kitchen split it in half for us. I also got it Oscar Style, which included lump crab, asparagus, and béarnaise sauce (lovely butter sauce!) Service (5/5): David was an amazing server. Tux laden and professional to the core. The other servers did not let an empty plate sit on the table for more than a few seconds after we finished. I wish that every server was as kind and professional as David. Ambiance (5/5): 1920's crooners singing filled the dark wood intimate spaces. It's a classic steakhouse!

The main floor dining like a lunch vibe, but it turned out to be a cozy choice. For appetizers, we started with the cornbread after our focaccia was unfortunately not the best. Seemed to be over-proofed. The cornbread was absolutely phenomenal and a must-have! A special shoutout to our waitress, Arya, who noticed our disappointment with the focaccia and generously brought us the cornbread on the house. That kind of service is truly memorable! I also had the beets and peaches salad, which was refreshing but a tad overdressed. Still, I couldn't resist finishing the entire dish. For my main course, I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overloaded with cheese and instead complemented by mushrooms and pesto, and surprisingly light on the stomach. My husband chose the filet and rated it an 8/10, saying he thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so full by the end that we skipped dessert. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was the atmosphere; coming from Chicago, we expected a more bustling vibe on a Thursday night. It seems Indianapolis is a bit quieter during the week. Overall, we had a delightful dining experience, and hats off to Arya for her exceptional service!

Listen... this wasn't just a dish, this was an EXPERIENCE. The grits were creamy, smooth, and perfectly rich, but that sauce layered on top?? Whew. Flavor on flavor on flavor. The spicy guac was really tasty and fresh, but not at all spicy in my opinion. The burnt ends had a great sauce on them but were pretty dry. The signature old fashioned was great. And then the espresso martini really lacked. I knew it was going to be bad when it didn't even have any beans on it. Would come back again to try a full meal and some different drinks
