The highlights definitely are the bread and the starters in my opinion as they are unique but not too unique that most won't find appealing. We've been going to Harry's for years and it often feels like a second home. Their patio feels like an extension of our patio. Whether you are seated indoors, at the bar, or on their chandelier-lit patio, this place is incredibly inviting and homey. It's the perfect place for brunch, happy hour, or an intimate dinner. They also have a bottle shop with a great selection of wines and a small selection of goods (like tinned fish, oils, and snacks). This is a cute homage to the fact that Harry's used to be a bodega before the owners transformed it into a restaurant. We have favorites (some still exist on the current menu). These include the Chicken (perfectly cooked, crisp, and served with smashed potatoes and an array of sauces/condiments). There is often a variation on a chicory salad that is to die-for. Two main stays on the menu of sides/starters that we love are the Harry's Fries and the Grilled Sourdough Bread. The burger is another item we often order. We love the cooking and flavor but find that it is sometimes over-sauced. They used to have a breakfast plate that had 1 cornmeal pancake, 2 eggs, bacon, and collard greens. Harry's, if you are listening, please bring it back! Their drinks are very good. Not only do they have a great selection of wines but also a creative assortment of cocktails (rotating seasonally). I often order a staple cocktail (such as an old fashioned) and its always well made. I hate to bring this up in a review, but it is worth noting that Harry's suffered the loss of one of their talented chefs a little over a year ago. Perhaps related, perhaps not, but it seems like it has taken some time for them to find their footing again. Recently, I've had several dishes that were sadly misses: steamers served with multiple bad (unopened) muscles and a quail l that had no sides (give me some grits or something) and improper saucing. And our favorite, the sourdough, has sadly declined. They now give a smaller portion, and it is often over-done (burnt). I felt compelled to note some of the recent changes. But know that we are in love with Harry's. They helped us host our engagement party in 2022. They are the restaurant we went to celebrate our puppy's "adoption day" (did I mention, they allow dogs on the patio?). We are excited to see how they continue to evolve, and we always look forward to new items when they release their seasonal menus. But please Harry, bring back the southern breakfast plate. read more

My husband, brother and I visited Harry's Fine Foods with a last-minute reservation I made about 1-2 days before visiting. There were limited reservation times and I was only able to get a 7 pm reservation. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation time but weren't able to get seated earlier as the diners before were finishing up, however, we were seated promptly at our reservation time. I'd booked a table in their outdoor courtyard and was glad for it because it was a hot day, and inside felt stifling. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered a good deal of food to share amongst the three of us, including a watermelon salad, scallion pancake, the tagliarini, another pasta, and the halibut. Since we had six dishes between us, we all left feeling stuffed and couldn't eat dessert. We just barely finished our food. All of the dishes were exquisite in freshness and flavor. So keep in mind, this is two slices of cake. I had one at room temp and one straight from the fridge, in the same night, I consumed both slices...this is to attest to how good it was. The cake is moist with strong chocolate flavors without being overpowering. The frosting in the mid sections at room temp & cold are fluffy while the exterior is firmer (could have done without). The cake is topped with a generous sprinkle of flaked sea salt too. Literally, so good. One of the best slices of cake I've had in Seattle. read more

Had brunch at Harry's Fine Foods with a friend over the weekend, and it was a nice spot with a cozy atmosphere. We sat inside, but their outdoor area looked super comfortable--surrounded by heavy curtains and heaters, people were sitting out there in t-shirts in the middle of winter! I wouldn't hesitate to sit outside next time if it was the only option. The service was quick and attentive, which made for a smooth and pleasant brunch experience. I ordered the Shrimp & Grits, and while the sausage was flavorful, the grits themselves were a little plain. My friend got the Eggs in Purgatory, which I originally wanted but was warned they were very spicy. Imagine my disappointment when I tried a bite and realized they were only mildly spicy--I totally could've handled a whole dish of it! Snagged a day-before 1230pm Saturday brunch reservation for 2 and made the drive over, on the same weekend the president visited... So traffic (predictably) was insane. The only parking is street parking - and on weekends that can be tough - so be flexible in walking over from a bit of a distance away. Missus rates this a 4.2 / 5 - the biggest complaint being that the portion sizes are both too filling and too big (we took over half of the food we ordered home because we were that full - don't over order!) We arrived and were promptly seated at the last table (we reserved), so it's clear this place is hella popular - nice. Food: ordered the monkey bread to share; missus got the smoked brisket hash and fried chicken biscuit. Told them about the peanut allergy - no issues - there's sesame and hazelnut though - so just tell them about allergies! Total cost came out to $82 before tip, but after tax. Given that we ordered 3 food items, a mimosa, and a cold brew coffee - and the massive portion sizes - this was decent value. Monkey bread was divine - it makes sense why it's so highly recommended / rated. It's extremely filling though - definitely arrived hungry, but just that would have been mostly filling for a brunch meal. Fried chicken was perfect - not too dry, with the sauce and/or ketchup makes it better. Potatoes were a nice complement as a side. I tried a piece of the missus' smoked brisket hash - it was perfect - but I'm a sucker for fried chicken, can't pull me away from there! The ambiance is interesting: the vibe is generally loud (it's a brunch crowd), but the playlist is 90s pop? It's very fun just listening to the dichotomy of chatter plus music. Half the restaurant is indoors, and half the restaurant is outdoor patio. You cannot really go wrong with either - each one has its own different vibe. I got the recommended Harry's egg sandwich with bacon and it was amazing. The bacon is nicely crispy, the buns were slightly toasted, the aioli pairs well with the eggs, the eggs had a little runny-ness and fluffy texture, and the omelette as a whole was very flavorful from the bell peppers. The potatoes were good but not the best - they were smashed mini potatoes - some of them were crispy, but some of them just tasted like regular potatoes. I do like the aioli dipping sauce for the potatoes and the herbs they used. Service was very good. The waitress was very friendly and everything was brought out in a timely manner, yet I was not rushed. Price was a little high (e.g., if I wanted to add avocado, that's $5... what). The menu features classic dishes with fresh, local ingredients, and our meals were well-prepared and flavorful. We got an omelette, pork schnitzel, and cornmeal pancake. It was all very good! However, our experience was slightly dampened (literally!) by the weather. Due to limited indoor seating, we were seated outside on a chilly and rainy Seattle morning. While the covered patio offered some protection and the heater offered some warmth, it was still quite cold, which detracted from the overall ambiance and enjoyment of the meal. Hot tip: the sourdough bread is the best value on the menu! And felt necessary with the burrata that otherwise didn't come with anything to dip it with 6 entree options as of 12/8/23: 1 vegetarian, 2 pescatarian, 1 chicken, 1 pork, 1 duck. Scallops come with 5 perfectly cooked pieces, the purée and extras that came with it were so good, I'll be thinking about that dish for a while LOL Drinks are all liquor forward, none of them are overtly sweet and it allows the other flavors to come through. Made a reservation for Harry's Main Dining hall. It was an intimate room - the ambiance was great and the room was packed. However, we could still hear each other talk. There were mirrors everywhere and the room felt very lively. We ordered a cocktail each and they were light and had bold flavors. Definitely refreshing and enjoyable - I ordered the Mezcal drink and it was smoky and fruity. We ordered the following: Rigatoni - the best dish of the evening. It is not worth the $34 cost but it was classically made and saucy. Whitefish Queso with Vinegar Chips - this was pretty good, not too fishy. The chips were slightly over seasoned and so the combination of the two, depending on the bite, could be a little overwhelming. But the dip was mainly subtle. Stingy on the roe. Halloumi - the Halloumi was good but it was on a bed of what tasted like a balsamic vinegar pickled beet? Not sure what it was but it was a bit too vinegar forward and acidic. We ate the halloumi and not much of the base. All in all, it was a good meal. I would recommend trying it out at least once for the experience. read more
