I came in as a new customer on a Friday with a jacket and skirt that needed to be altered. Since it was Memorial Day weekend and toward the end of the day Friday it was understanding that my outfit would not be complete until later the next week. Harry asked if the time worked for me which I said yes but also disclosed that I had an interview that Tuesday and this was my best suit (I had lost weight recently). I was first referred to Harry's Tailor Shop after purchasing two suits from Ted Baker - a London-based designer boutique in NorthPark Mall - for the complimentary pant hemming that is typical with suit purchases. I also needed some additional alterations to one of the jackets and one of the pants. Despite the alteration to the pants being quite severe, Harry's handled it with aplomb. Since I have a 40" chest and 31" waist, slim fit shirts and jackets are a must for me, and I've been keen to find a tailor to help me with any purchases that don't work off-the-rack. Based on my positive experience with Harry's after the suit tailoring, I recently returned to have four shirts darted and another jacket taken in at the waist, and I must say the final result is excellent. The only tick-mark I'd put against Harry's is that he takes cash or check only. But this is not so bad as to warrant a 4-star rating, because in the end it's the quality of the sartorial look that matters - which with Harry's is the very highest. Harry's may not be the cheapest, the fastest, or the closest tailor you can find - in fact I'm sure he isn't. But if the quality of your alterations are what matter most to you, then Harry's is worth it - by a long shot. 5 years of our business and Harry is still awesome! It took about 2 weeks to shorten 2 suit jacket sleeves ($65 total) just recently. We send everything here. He does it right the first time, so we don't trust anybody else! Remember to bring cash when you pick up your items, as he doesn't take card. He even repaired a ripped crotch on a pair of my husband's pants the day after a wedding for free (too much dancing, I suppose haha). We did have him work on the same pants earlier though, so don't take that comment and show up asking for free work ;) of course you can find faster and cheaper tailors, but you'll waste your time and money going back for a follow up alteration. read more

Yelp and D MAGAZINE let me down. TERRIBLE JOB AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! I dropped off a bridesmaid dress for some simple alterations. After 2 weeks of waiting, I go and try on my dress. The dress is still way too big....and now the hem and darts on the bust are both uneven. Harry and staff not only don't apologize...but suggest that maybe I brought in the dress with an uneven hem. I had to pay full price for the dress before leaving completely unsatisfied. I needed my wedding dress altered in less than 2 days ( I know, yikes)! The owner stated over the phone he needed to see the dress first and see how much work would be needed before he could pull this miracle off so to come in right away and I did. I put on the dress and he took measurements off the length of the dress, which is what I mainly needed because it was way too long. He said we'd be cutting it close but that he would have it ready in the time I needed it by. A day and a half later I came to pick up my dress, tried it on, and it was perfect! He saved the day and gave me hug congratulating me on my wedding. I highly recommend this place. The only thing holding me back from rating this a 5 is that it's not cheap but hey you get what you pay for and alterations on your wedding dress is not something you go cheap on. read more

Look, Harry's a nice guy. Prices are reasonable, The store is old school and has a friendly atmosphere. My beef is that I wasn't happy with the results. My pants were about 2 inches too long and I brought them in to be shortened. I'm not positive he took anything off as they're still 2 inches too long. I didn't say anything bc he also altered the seat of another pair of pants of mine, and that was way off so I had him fix that. And when I asked him to re-do it he gave me one of those "what, it's as good as it can be" lines.... and I know that he knew that it looked awful. This was by far the WORST alterations experience I have ever had. Harry's Tailor somehow managed to completely RUIN, beyond any chance of repair, a brand new $300 Tibi one shoulder dress, which is now sold out everywhere so I can't even get a new one. All I needed was for the waist to be taken in, but they insisted that the entire length of the dress be taken in as well, and having read all of the positive reviews, I simply trusted their judgement. Though it looked fine when they pinned it, the dress came back with crooked seams, leaving the dress completely disfigured. In addition, far more fabric was taken in on the upper part of the left side than the right, so that when the dress is laid flat, the axis of the torso is about 20 degrees off the axis of the skirt (like a dress custom fit for someone with a very severe case of scoliosis). So much fabric was taken in under my left armpit that the dress is uncomfortable and makes me feel like I am being strangled. The crooked aspect, and sheer amount of fabric removed, has made any prospect of repair inconceivable. I realize that the fact that it was a one shoulder dress may have complicated the situation. However, I am still appalled at the incompetency of this tailor. This is especially unfortunate considering all of the positive reviews, in the absence of which I never would have taken my dress to Harry's tailor in the first place. Unless you are willing to risk the complete, irreparable destruction of your clothes, I would definitely not recommend this tailor. read more

Very impressed. I brought in a suit jacket that I never thought would fit the way I wanted it to. Harry worked a miracle though and precisely tailored it to the fit and style that I was looking for. I've been to several tailors in the area and the quality of Harry's work is unmatched. It's a bit more expensive than some others, but worth every penny. Personally, Harry was great to work with as well. He took the time to understand exactly what look I wanted the finished product to have and was very attentive. They did a good job tailoring my suits. There was a short delay (10 minutes) when I came to pick them up, but this was a pretty busy season for them, too. They also say that they can clean the clothing, too, but they don't - at least, not any more. HOWEVER, bear in mind that they are not inexpensive. You see, I'm short. I'm really short. Sometimes clothes can look pretty awkward on me, especially pants. Every Christmas, I would ask Santa for a body like Gisele Bundchen so that clothes would fit me much better. Needless to say, he never came through. This is where Harry became my fairy godfather (like in Cinderella). I brought in 2 dresses and 3 pairs of pants. The dresses needed to be taken in and the pants needed to be hemmed. The turn around time was quick and my clothes fit me perfectly. It was expensive but completely worth it! I will say that when you go see Harry, you will never feel rushed during your fitting. He takes his time and makes sure that everything is perfect. If you are unsure what to do or what you want, ask him for advice and he will tell you what's best. You will not be disappointed. Let me just start by saying I'm incredibly picky about the fit of my clothes, so I need a tailor who listens to what I want but also provides feedback regarding the fit and limitations of particular articles of clothing. The first two tailors I tried in Dallas - J's Tailor & Cantu Tailors - both failed in this regard. The clothes I had altered at J's came back fitting asymmetrical and Cantu altered my clothes to match their ideal fit rather than mine (they also held onto some of my shirts for over 2 months after telling me it'd be 2 weeks - and this was only for some basic alterations). A friend recommended I check out Harry's and I haven't looked back. I've been taking anything that needs alterations to him for a couple of years now and he's never disappointed. He does a great job of listening to what you want and trying his best to make it work while simultaneously offering his feedback about how the clothing will fit and move if altered a certain way. My shirts, sportcoats, and pants fit like a glove after Harry is done with them. Harry is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Alterations will be high quality and fit great, but will be pricey and, because the shop has so much business, alterations will likely take a little longer than others (average turnaround for me is 2 weeks but have had some things done in as little as a week if requested and they've never been late). read more

I have probably spent close to $1,500.00 on tailor "type" activities with Harry and would highly recommend him to anyone. I work in the investment banking arena (M&A) therefore I buy high end suits, and the look on the face of the individuals I buy from when I refuse their tailor work and politely say I have my own is priceless. I was looking for a new tailor to try in Dallas and found Harry's Tailor Shop online. I trusted the good reviews and took my new pair of Joe's Jeans to be altered there. Being 5'11, I have a hard time finding a good pair of jeans that fit and I actually like. The jeans I bought were a little too loose and not quite long enough. When I brought them in, they told me they could take them in as well as undo the hem for more length. When I came to pick them up, they fit like a glove and you could barely tell the hem was let out and re-sewn; they looked GREAT! Now I have a great pair of jeans that are long enough to wear with heels and fit just right. I will definitely return for any other alternations I may need in the future. It was important to me to find one that is comfortable working with my husband's snazzy clothes (Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, etc.) and getting original hems on my designer jeans. So, I researched and researched. I found that Harry's Tailor Shop has won many local awards so I tried it out. All 10 items we've taken in that needed hemming, waist and butt adjustments have all looked great. My hubby and I are super picky and they managed to please us. Harry's folks are very knowledgeable about altering suits, dresses, etc. as well. I've seen a few wedding dresses there, too. There are 2 dressing rooms, and Harry himself usually comes out to measure you (even though he doesn't do the sewing) and take your order. Prices very reasonable - $15 or $18?? for original hem and I think $12 for normal hem. I recommend this place for your alteration needs. I gave 4 stars because I've only done the basic alteration stuff here so I can't judge beyond that. read more

Brought a pair of jeans here based on the reviews and the fact that it's so close to work. Cost $12.99 (cash only) and took a week. I was pleased as they were nontraditional jeans, but Harry's hemmed them perfectly. Would have appreciated a call when my pants were ready rather than me calling, but I'd never had alterations done, so maybe that's not how it goes. Professional, and usually within a week your clothing will be ready. I CAN sew, I have my own machine, but for jeans (too bulky for my old machine), delicate fabrics and difficult alterations I trust Harry's Taylor Shop..... and as others have said, it's either cash or check. There are some people out there for hemming, a button replaced, and repair to a special item but no one comes close to Harry's. I came to Harry with a request for magic... My wedding dress needed major alterations to meet my vision and no one else was up to the task. I came to Harry and Ohn (spelling?) with an incredibly difficult, if not impossible feat- to change the shape of the bottom half of my wedding gown. This was an obstacle no other tailor in Dallas was willing to tackle, but Harry was up for the challenge. Ohn told me upon my first visit this was going to be very difficult, to which I questioned- difficult of impossible? She said it was possible but not easy, so I said go for it. After a handful of fittings and one major meltdown on my part (ashamed to admit my lack of faith) they delivered my vision perfectly. I went to Harry's because of all of the incredible reviews. You can imagine my disappointment then when I was charged $150 to hem a pair of $40 Levis jeans and hem a trench coat which didn't even have lining in it! To make matters worse, after letting them have a second go at my jeans because they weren't right, they still didn't fit me the way I wanted them to! The shop was also in disarray and the person I worked with was rather curt. I've been having my clothes tailored since I was 13 - it does not cost $150 to take up the hem. This is highway robbery. I was excited to find a well rated tailor in Dallas. Went in and got fitted. The gentleman measuring me didn't say a word the entire time, should have been a sign. Nearly ruined my dress shirt, stitching was poorly done. The shirt was unevenly sewn, leaving huge bunches, and spots that were so tight the shirt barely fit. The sports coat was better, but still poor stitching and incorrect fitting. Do not use Harry's unless you don't like your clothes. read more
