I have been coming here for decades. There is usually a wait but the food is decent for that traditional bar food. Prior complaint ( and still true) is there is a wait bur empty tables almost every time. Hire more staff. But now they have an abridged menu half the size it used to be. That was disappointing. And the food we got was mediocre. I am hoping they will return it to how it was a few years back. Decent food and fun menu. Until then, I won't be back. I've been to Hart's dozens of times over the years, but hadn't been back since the pandemic. Tonight, our party of five tried the new menu. It's genuinely awful. There's nothing wrong with a limited menu when the food is good, but most everything we ordered was shockingly bad. We had two fried chicken sandwiches (both left untouched) cheese curds, the quesadilla, steak, poutine and the Thai chicken sandwich. We also ordered pb s'mores and kitchen sink cake. The poutine was solid, but the rest was poorly prepared, under seasoned and/or stale tasting. There were no substitutions available (e.g., mashed potatoes are a side option, but ONLY if you order the steak--you cannot pay extra for mash instead of fries with any other meal option--just very odd). We were also shocked to learn that the cake with an added scoop of ice cream was $17! When the dessert arrived, our ice cream had crystallized and there were huge ice chips in it. I really don't write reviews often, but this place is quite nostalgic for our family. We would have been fine with the updates if they were even remotely palatable. We've decided not to return after (literally) decades of family friendly, tasty meals. So very sad to see Hart's go downhill this way. I'm hoping maybe enough negative feedback will encourage them to rethink the shifts. We've been such loyal customers, we would try again if they decided to revamp. Fingers crossed! read more

Waiter was great, food not so good. I ordered the turkey sandwich which sounded delish but was a few slices of lunchmeat served on two pieces of big brioche bread. When you have a very small menu and turkey is on it, the turkey needs to be real - not processed. 45 minute wait for food on a Wednesday night after a 30 minute wait. Fries were cold. Harts burger was good Mac and cheese was good French fries were Luke warm. Joey worked hard to salvage what was to be my annoyed presence as I was getting ready to leave. The s'more hot chocolate had no graham cracker rim as advertised. All in all it was alright. soooo yummy! my bf & i arrived here at around 7:50 pm when it closes at 9. they said they can't seat us at a regular table due to time but we can sit at the bar and order food, so we did! we had such a nice experience, service was so quick & food was beyonddd good!!! we got a cheeseburger to split and fries with aioli. Okay so today I was standing in the middle of this restaurant and Cock n Bull - read both reviews and opted for this one being that it was 1/2 of a star higher than CnB. My rating would really be a 3 1/2 but since we can't give out 1/2 stars I'm being generous with a 4.... From start to finish here we go: Upon entering we noticed there was barely any space to park our stroller - had to fold it up and left it in the hall way between the 2 front doors. Hostess looked slightly annoyed and frantic combined. She took our party # and proceeded to the parties behind us telling them how long the wait was but not us - about 5-10 min. (Was a 5 min wait for us) The menu is pretty basic - typical appetizer choices, soups/salads, sandwiches and burgers. Kids menu offered a decent selection. With very low expectations I ordered my daughter the pizza. I'm so glad I tried her pizza as I cut it up for her - it was pretty good. I ordered the pulled pork sliders and hubby ordered the corned beef sandwich. He was a little annoyed bc the sandwich came out dry and wanted mustard for it but as our luck would have it the waitress was busy with other tables for a good 5 min. Our waitress was nice and got us anything we requested - napkins, mustard, daughters dessert to go etc.. Only real gripe - we were seated to the left of the hostess booth along the window - IT WAS FREEZING COLD. I asked our waitress if they could turn the air down but she said she would ask 'him' - assuming the MOD - but she didn't think 'he' would allow it I get lowered bc supposedly the entire restaurant would then get cold.... Alright cool, guess you don't care about your customers comfort! I put on mine and my daughters sweatshirt - poor hubby didn't have a jacket so he froze. Another really annoying thing to note - my hot food turned cold very quickly bc it was like eating in an ice box. The food - cheap and you get a decent portion. Our bill for 3 - really 2(1/2) was roughly $30. The staff/service - very nice but as others yelpers noted, a bit slow... The decor - depressing and out dated. All wood everywhere with tacky lamps. My wife and I were looking to catch a quick and cozy lunch while spending the weekend around New Hope and perusing Peddler's Village. Hart's was the first thing to catch our eyes, and we love a quaint pub vibe. We were not disappointed! We didn't order any big entree items since we were just looking for a light lunch, but we did enjoy what we got very much. I ordered the corn chowder, my wife ordered the french onion, and we shared the nachos. A note about the nachos (and not a complaint...just a note!), they are marketed as the perfect amount for 2 to share but I think they would have been the perfect amount for even 5 to share! The portion was huge! I'm not complaining, but we were definitely surprised and got way too much for what our hunger needed. Fear not though, we powered through and ate it all :) Our waitress (unfortunately I can't remember her name) was lovely and a real friendly lady. She recommended their hot spiked cider to us (which we obliged) and we were not disappointed! All of the food came out quickly and we enjoyed our time here. The food was pretty terrible. Views from the window were pretty but the chopped salad tasted worse than a bagged salad. It's a shame because they used to have good soups and sandwiches. The food came out in two minutes which means that nothing was prepared fresh and the pulled pork was dried out. It's definitely a candidate for kitchen nightmares. read more

Visited on a Friday in December. When we walked in At 11:30 am I could see that they were quite busy; I immediately noticed that the hostess was doubling as a busser. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait left our number to be texted. We came back 40 mins later, no text received and hung around outside for 15 more before going back to the hostess and asking about seating. This time we found a seat. The Waitress showed up about 15 minutes later and brusquely took our order. We were ignored after that. The food was slow to arrive , dropped in the table without comment, and just so-so. We each had burgers that, if hot, might've been very good. No return visit to ask about food or additional drinks. Another 20 minute wait ensued while we paid. I've literally had better service and comparable food in a diner. read more

Visiting Peddlers Village for the first time and loved the Christmas experience. Stopped at Hart's for a bite to eat. The restaurant was busy so we sat at the bar. Waited a substantial period of time for the bartender to clear the area but eventually were able to order a drink and appetizer. The bartender was less than friendly and we felt like we were bothering her to get a drink or order dinner. She was distracted -- inattentive-- and negatively impacted our experience. I know what Peddler's is and what to expect etc., especially during holidays or busy touristy events. This was a Monday. Not crowded but a steady influx bc of the Christmas lights. Cock and Bull sent us to their sister restau, The Hart's Tavern because they were booked. (Reader, the Cock and Bull was more than half empty the entire time.) I've been to Hart's several times over the years, most recently late winter early spring '22. Its always consistently been normal average pub grub. Well, HOLY SHIT . The menu is atrocious and if you don't think it is atrocious by reading, wait until you get the food. Apparently C & B pilfered anything good from the menu and they can't share between restaurants even though Hart's is literally a room within the C&B. The burgers are very small, the size of a bagged bun which is exactly what it's served on. I thought maybe I ordered from a children's menu by accident. So, a $10 skinny hockey puck on a Stroehmann very small bun accompanied by the "POTATO SALAD". The meat was seasoned fine. OMG. The "side" of "POTATO SALAD" comes in a small silver condiment cup. But thats fine, really, because the side of "POTATO SALAD" is COLD RED MASHED POTATOES. You must order the fries separately for $4. Which they bring out on a bread plate. This was the equivalent of an elementary school cafeteria lunch. For the memory of what Hart's once was I wish I was exaggerating. It's sad and needs some serious help. Went there today for lunch. We split the wings and they very fatty. Pulled pork sandwich was kind of dry. I've come here before and had decent meals but I wasn't very impressed with my food today. Next year I'll go for peddlers pub. Waitress was nice but didn't read us the specials. Our appetizers and main courses came at the same time which I find to be very annoying. I'm not sure why the manager bothered to come over, he was useless. Sad to see a place I once loved so much turn into something so bad. Hart's a small tavern restaurant that you need to look for in Peddler's Village in Lahaska. PA. The atmosphere is a small pub like with the charm of a country Inn. The Food and service was beyond expectation. It was a cold day and the Corn Chowder with red peppers and corn and was very tasty. We had the Chicken Quesada and one order would been enough for both of us. The meals were more than reasonable and we would certainly go again. Avoid the weekends... Over 2 hour wait. So I see that Hart's has some great reviews and some really crappy reviews. Me, I'm somewhere right in the middle. We've eaten here twice that I remember, once was very good, the other just ok. First time here I had the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and the French onion soup and my wife had the chicken florentine wrap...and we both had a couple of well deserved cold beers. This meal definitely earned them a second trip because my burger was honestly perfect. Just barely cooked to medium with nice crispy bacon and a delicious cheddar then topped with a BBQ sauce. The soup was very good, served piping hot with the cheese nicely carmelized. My wife also enjoyed her wrap...it was full of fresh veggies and mozzarella and the chicken was nicely done. The second time we visited Hart's was just ok. On this cold December day, I started with a pork sliders and the chili...and another beer-don't remember what kind though-only that it was darker (hit the spot). I think my wife had the Texas Petal chicken sandwich. My sliders tasted ok, but they were a bit dried out-I had to ask for some extra sauce and I remember my wife complaining about how dried out her chicken was...simply overcooked. I'm willing to give Hart's another try, but I really hope they kick it back up. Maybe Chris D is right and they need a little bit of a menu upgrade. read more

The Man and I came here in late March on our way down to a car show. I'd never been to Peddler's Village before and he was determined to change that. We stopped by a few shops and figured we'd grab lunch before going on our merry way. We asked the lady working at the Irish store, and she suggested Hart's Tavern, so away we went. The restaurant was pretty quiet since since it was a bit past lunchtime. We were seated at a table in the far dining area near the window so we were able to look at the sun shining outside. Our server brought our menus and gave us a few minutes to deicde what we wanted. The Man and I opted to split an order of Oversized Mozzarella Sticks. He went with the Roast Turkey Sandwich and I had the Homemade Fried Crab Cake Sandwich. A few minutes later, a plate of double-sized mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce were brought to our table. They weren't kidding about oversized! The were about the normal thickness and length of the traditional round mozz sticks, but were at least twice as wide. The breading was really nice - not too heavy but with a really great crunch. The sauce paired really nicely. As for our entrees. I very much enjoyed my sandwich, although nothing tops the crab cakes I've enjoyed in Maryland. Still, there was plenty of crab meat and a minimal of fillers. It was nicely fried to give it a golden crust, but it was not greasy. The Man lovedlovedloved his sandwich. This guy loves Thanksgiving, so I was not surprised at all that he liked it, but I figured he'd have at least come up for air while eating! Nope, he just plowed right through it like a champ. The restaurant itself doesn't look like anything special, but the back dining areas away from the bar have a quaint homeyness that we liked. Yesterday my wife and I stopped in for a bite like we have done in the past whenever we visit Peddler's Village. It was usually pretty good but now it is dreadful. It's obvious they have a new cook or something. My wife had the Fish and Chips and I had the Fried Chicken sandwich. The Fish and chips looked like it was breaded instead of batter dipped. Big difference especially if you over cook it. The Fish was dry, burned and tasteless at the price of $18. My Chicken sandwich was also over cooked, dry and unseasoned. Quite literally the worst chicken sandwich I ever had. And I'm not exaggerating either. Oh and it came with potato salad. Another joke. The potato salad was in a cup the size of the little catsup holder. It was an unseasoned red potato that was squashed. Really bad. And only $16. haha. One star is too good. I would give it zero if I could. Need less to say, we will never go back again. Do yourself a favor, pick another place to eat. Location Location Location. The line here gets LONG during the lunch hour. It's centrally located in Peddler's Village. I remember it being this way even when I was younger when I would come here with my parents. I don't know why I'm surprised about the quality of the food. It's actually pretty good. Had lunch at Hart's Tavern today. Menu changed. Pretty sure the cook changed too. The food was horrible! Had a french onion soup and "grilled" cheese caprese. The grilled cheese consisted of cold mozzarella cheese and tomato between two lightly toasted pieces of bread. If it was actually a grilled cheese it probably would've been pretty good. The french onion soup is no longer made in Hart's Tavern. If you want it, it comes from the restaurant upstairs so by the time it gets to the table, it's cold. Also, it tasted bland. Our server was slow. Sat for 10 minutes waiting for her to come back so we can get our check. Anyway, paid $80 for the worst meal ever. Never going back!!! read more

We stopped in for an early lunch yesterday during some holiday shopping and sat at the bar. The restaurant was about half filled and the tables were filling up rapidly we seemed to just beat the rush. Service from the bartender was prompt and cheerful. We ordered a couple of special ales and then got two bowls of soup, corn chowder for me and French onion for my wife. Both were delicious. We then split a crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was good but not great, not much crab although my wife pointed out that it was shredded. I prefer some crab chunks. The crab cake was a bit soggy as well. We give Food B-; Service A-, Ambience B, (a pub), Price B. Not sure I understand the reviews that complain about long waits. Nice casual pub atmosphere. Sat at the bar and we were promptly greeted. We quickly had our beers in front of us and placed our food order. My wife's French onion soup came out along with my bacon cheese burger. Her soup was fresh hot and good. My burger was not as ordered and had to be sent back. When it came back out all was good it was cooked as ordered. Nothing fancy a plain beef burger no blends or seasonings. Overall a good experience. read more
