This place is close to my office. Visited this place on one Friday for lunch with a colleague of mine. From outside, place looks pretty big, but once you enter, you do not feel that. Reception area is pretty cramped. After entering the place, we were really surprised by the crowd. The restaurant was full and we were given a waiting time of 15 minutes. After 15 minutes we were seated. We were craving for sushi and sashimi. I ordered one of their sashimi special and beef Udon. My colleague ordered two different type of rolls and Udon noodle. This place serves free green tea, which is very good. Coming to the service, it was pretty prompt. Sashimi and rolls were served within 10 minutes. Once we were almost done with our Sushi and Sashimi, noodle was served, which was hot and refreshing. Sashimi was very very tasty. Every piece of Sashimi was delicious, very flavorful. Coming to the Udon noodle, the beef in the Udon noodle felt like BBQed before putting in the noodle soup, which enhanced the flavor a lot. The fatty tuna roll ordered by colleague was very good, it melts in your mouth. Over all very good experience. Surely will go back and try some of their other offerings. read more

Absolutely the WORST ramen I've had. It has NOTHING to do with japanese ramen. it wasn't even good chinese noodle soup.

This place is just okay. Not the greatest sushi I've had, but not bad either. I think i'm a regular here only because it's an option for dinner. I've had the volcano roll my first time, and it was pretty good, because of my favor for cooked sushi. There was also the B-52 bomber, i don't like sushi with jalapeño, so it was just eh. I've also tried their udon before, because I love noodles. I think it's good, but not great. This is a decent place to go to if you're craving for sushi, they have great lunch deals as well. read more

I ordered a Tanuki Udon($8), waitress brings me Nabeyaki Udon($13.50), i tell them that they got the order wrong but agreed to eat the Nabeyaki Udon so they wouldn't have to waste food and make me another one. Waitress charges me for Nabeyaki Udon on my tab. I complained and asked them why i was charged for Nabeyaki instead of Tanuki. Waitress insists that I ordered Nabeyaki Udon showing me a piece of paper that she scribbled down "Nabeyaki Udon" on. Tanuki and Nabeyaki does not even sound the same. WTF? What kind of waitress accuses a customer of lying? And what kind of restaurant slaps me in the face for trying to do THEM a favor to mitigate THEIR mistakes? No more HaruIchiban! read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem. Atmosphere for dinner: A little awkward....small restaurant with yellow walls...sushi chefs kept staring at us eating..., but everything else was delicious regardless! Service: Decent staff. They're your typical good waiters. Food: Complimentary edamame with seaweed per person. Rainbow Roll ($10) creamy, flavorful, and delish! Fish isn't the freshest, but it's ok I don't blame them. Tantan ramen (~$10) is also good and includes bean sprout, mushrooms, and it is spicy. Chashu Ramen(~$10) is yummmmmy! A little on the salty side, but they do give a lot of ramen and meat. Tonkatsu ramen was a little too salty, but very good. Very disappointing sushi however - sloppy rolls with way too much rice and hardly any fish or veggies. Came here for dinner for my son's birthday. We sat at the bar and ordered the haru ichiban special (lots of nigiri and couple rolls i think). Somehow the order was changed to the other same priced ($27 or so) combo which had sashimi rather than nigiri. In particular though, there was a fatty tuna roll in the combo we ordered and I asked what happened. They offered to swap out the combo but it looked so good and we were starving so I said it was fine. They even gave us a fatty tuna roll for free so that was nice. Everything looked and tasted great. The wasabi shumai appetizer was just OK, wouldn't order again. The salmon onigiri unexpectedly came from kitchen and included cooked salmon. Seemed weird that the sushi chef in front of us wouldn't make it with sashimi. I asked the sushi chef like twice to get it and he deferred me to the waitress. I couldn't tell if they didnt understand what I wanted, or if they didn't care. Service was nice but the language barrier made it annoying. All in all, probably the best sushi I've had here in ATL but it'll cost you $20-25/head to get filled up on sushi fare. I'll have to try lunch next time. read more

I haven't sampled any of their nigiri so that might be something that could tip this place over to 4 stars. A friend and I ordered takoyaki, some rolls, and a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. The takoyaki was really delicious. The rolls were just okay; we ordered one of the special rolls, which might have been our error, but it not only had a weird texture balance but also came slathered in tons of sauce. I thought the rice was rather mushy. The tonkotsu ramen was okay as well. I can appreciate that it was certainly authentic, though I found the broth slightly salty. Their menu is enormous, so I'll probably go back given the opportunity and sample some other dishes, since I think they're at least assuredly authentic. read more

I would give it a 3 1/2 star but there isn't that option. As terms of quality on sushi for the price it's a 3-31/2. However their other cooked foods like the Hamburg steak and their ramen makes up for it. I believe them and shoya is same owners (Japanese owner I believe). Therefore the food is pretty authentic. I had lunch the other day and Sushi fish was tasted like it's been out for days. So I spoke to waitress about the she came back and said Chef said its fine. So I asked mgr to come but he was also saying it's fine too. I left half of my lunch and I got charged for full price and they never ever said sorry and be apologetic. I would never come to this place ever again. This isn't first time sushi tasted funny and this is going to be last time coming here. Stopped here after reading the yelp reviews and wasn't dissapointed. I ordered the tantan ramen. The noodle texture was excellent and the broth was flavorful but not overpowering. It wasn't as spicy as I would've liked. There was a lot of onions and bamboo shoots in it. My husband ordered the hotlanta which was pieces of fish mixed with siracha, jalapenos, and fish roe and ordered a spicy scallop roll with avocado. The spicy scallop roll had excellent flavor, but was a bit on the small side. The hotlanta was tasty, but it was hard to tell which kind of fish was in it since the whole dish was covered in sauce. Went for dinner because we wanted some ramen soup. We ordered a simple ramen with pork bone broth, and a spicy ramen. Both were delicious, the portions are very generous and the service very quick! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for good ramen soup. read more

Bad service!! Awful!!! I came to eat lunch with my friend today and it was horrible. As we sat on the table, our waitress served HOT TEA without asking what kind of drinks we like to order. Thats okay I will drink hot tea on hot summer afternoon :). Anyway, My friend ordered chirashi bowl and I ordered zaru soba with mini unagi don on the side. My food was decent, sushi rice were little dry. My friend had to spit out the ika(squid) it tasted really bad. She said it was too fishy smelly. Our waitress never came to our table. I had to wave my hands to catch her to ask spoons or something I need. Never asked if we were okay, hot tea were never refilled. Horrible! Took so long to get our check too, we were just sitting there WAITING!! Waiting!! So I called the hostess(he is the actually the owner of haru ichiban), I told him I never got refills and she didnt check on us etc.. and what he said was unbelievable! He told me "you have to ask for refills, if you need something you have to say it". What??!? Excuse me?? I will not go back and WILL NOT!! recommend to anyone around me. Awful!!!! read more

Dined in yesterday, August 22nd, with a friend. The service was excellent (friendly and attentive), the decor is inviting (cloth napkins and moist towelettes), and prices were decent. We both had sushi. My friend had a California roll and the spicy crab one. He said that his meal was delicious. I had the veggie which is cucumber and avocado; a traditional vegetarian selection. The tempura pumpkin roll sounded interesting and it was warm, slightly sweet and favorful. This restaurant is excellent for traditional Japanese cuisine and flair. I had just bookmarked this place as a definite "must go" when my husband decided to check it out with a friend. I had to stay home so I settled for takeout. Based on other reviews I requested the Tonkatsu Ramen. Well apparently Tonkatsu Ramen is not meant to be "takeout". My husband returned with several containers and several detailed instructions concerning preparation. It was awesome! I can only imagine what it tastes like when they prepare it. My husband says the sushi was good - no major standouts and the large house sake was the best bargain on the menu. Excellent, friendly and helpful service. There was definite subtle difference between the 2 in terms of Uni, Toro, sweet shrimp, scallops, ikura on rice, etc, These difference made it great but pricing structure is a little high.
