I really enjoyed my experience as she was able to quickly grasp what I wanted from showing a couple photos and explained to me the process on how everything was going to go. I came here because of the high Yelp rating. I was not disappointed. My stylist Nicole was amazing. She noticed small things about my fair and it was the first time that a stylist noticed and addressed that. I got a great hair cut. Nicole explained how to blow my hair and use wax. Very few stylists do that and I really appreciated it. Overall I liked this place. However, I made an appointment and I still waited for about 20 minutes. I found Haruehs instagram and booked an appointment with one of the stylist listed on their page. I got a cut and a digital perm from Lily and I highly recommend her. I haven't gotten a haircut for over years and I really love it now! She was very attentive despite how busy she got throughout some part of the day. As a guy with straight hair, it was difficult to maintain medium to long length without looking like a chubaka. I had a place in Flushing but commute being 3 hours round trip, it took a lot of time. Instead I started looking in the city. I just made an appointment at Harueh and so far I got my hair done twice so far by Kai. Both occasions I got my hair permed with great results. Kai was friendly and attentive. Listening my daily hair stuggles and giving professional opinion was helpful to design my hair. He also gave life tips about the hair and its styling. $120 before tax and tip, which is higher than my previous spot, the service they provide meets the price. Thanks to Harueh, my hair is now my fifth best feature. Followed after my looks, intelligence, charm, and modesty. But seriously, I wouldn't normally take the time to vouch for a hair salon unless I really felt strongly about it. I've been getting my hair cut from Sang, Harueh's managing stylist, for the past four years and haven't had anything but an awesome haircut by him. Harueh only recently opened, but I knew Sang from his previous salon, Hair Osh. Sang is incredibly meticulous and explains how he cuts various locks for my desired effect. I have straight, silky Asian hair (and lots of it) that's rather difficult to style. I prefer to keep it longer, but constantly have to flatten the bulky sides. So Sang recommended thinned-out under layers to reduce bulk, while maintaining length. It's been working out great and I always look forward to coming back every 3-4 months. Harueh is a brand new salon with an open concept layout and concrete loft aesthetic. The staff is very courteous and rather attentive to my salon experience, which follows as check-in, storing away my bag/coat, washing my hair pre-haircut, haircut, washing my hair post-haircut, blow drying and styling my hair, picking up on my bag/coast, and check-out. Each step of my experience never feels rushed or haphazard. Everything almost has a sense of ceremony to it. I have been getting my hair cut at this place for the past year with Lena and every time, she cuts my hair perfectly. She is very personable and a great listener when you're explaining what kind of haircut you're going for. I asked for a specific haircut last year and ever since then, she has remembered the exact style I asked for so long ago! I don't ever have to repeat myself. It's wonderful. She is also very considerate because instead of immediately cutting my hair, she always asks to make sure I want the same cut. Outside of getting my haircut, I even learned a few Korean words over my many visits! My last visit she was training a new hire and I thought it was amazing that she was able to teach another person her skills while being able to cut my hair perfectly! I'd rate my one experience at about 3.5/5. It's not that anything was exceedingly bad or anything, but it wasn't that great and it cost about $70 for a haircut not including tip. I recently moved to the NYC area and got a haircut in December 2017. I tried to keep the same haircut style that I've had for the past 4 years, which is a short haircut that's slightly shorter than chin length. Since I don't do coloring or perms, it sounds like a simple haircut. However, you'd be surprised by how few stylists can get this "simple" haircut done well. I had my haircut done by Jean, and I think I liked it when I had my appointment. However, about a few weeks later, I noticed that my hair was cut kind of unevenly and the shape was really blocky. I prefer a more rounded kind of look, and thought I had asked for some layers. Either I didn't or Jean chose not to do it. I also couldn't really tell if she knew what kind of haircut style would look best with me (i.e. my face shape), and was simply doing what I asked. I guess that's good, but on the other hand, I'm also choosing to go to a hair stylist who has more hair expertise in the area and am relying on their opinion. So, I chose to go to a different hair salon for my most recent appointment and was more satisfied there. read more

Even if you find a great fit, it's really hard to keep one that can constantly update new styles and come to table with new ideas- at least that's how it was for me until I found Sang. I've been following Sang for years now and it truly amazes me how he can always put a smile on my face.
