It's... certainly no Whole Foods. This small neighborhood grocery store is a bit rough around the edges, but can service your needs if you're not looking to make some fancy European apple cake or acquire that "Good Vanilla" that Barefoot Contessa is always speaking about. It's a bit barebones, but it definitely serves it purpose. Unfortunately, we were making a fancy European apple cake and forgot to purchase the Apple Juice at the Giant we had just been at. ( I know what you're saying! How could you forget the apple juice! The recipe called for "Cloudy Apple Juice" but we settled on regular run of the mill "from concentrate" apple "cocktail." That's what they really should call it not be misleading. While we were in line, one of the customers a few aisles down started yelling inaudibly at the Cashier. Couldn't make out what she was saying, but she was yelling it over and over again. Not sure if the store was calling the cops... but not much seemed to be being done about this somewhat belligerent woman. It was definitely a show. Enjoy finding great and unique buys there. Usually good experience. Recently bought some Chilean Sea Bass there it smelled horrible. Didn't realize there was a 24 hour return so I froze it to avoid the smell until I could return 3 days later. Customer service manager was extremely rude and instead of returning to my card she actually charged me again. I filed an online complaint and 3 weeks later haven't heard a thing or gotten my refund. Be careful what you pay for and where you buy it. Lesson learned. read more

I like Harvest Fare for the old-time ambiance and you can find lots of standard and even less often used foods: nearly everything I want I can get there. Their pasta selection is actually better than Wegmans, go figure. They used to have bins of large cuts of meat, such as beef tenderloin, bottom rounds, whole chuck roasts, tri-tips, big whole pieces. But suddenly those bins are empty or filled with miscellaneous packaged food and somebody said it was a policy change ----- what is going on with that? We bought a LOT of meat from those bins and I'll have to find another store that carries them if they don't bring that back. read more

I have to let you know, in 2022 I was pleasantly pleased yesterday with the customer care I received while in store...I asked 2 workers, one from the produce dept and one other walking by with a dust pan in his hand for assistance while searching for cases turkey and chicken wings. Both gentlemen stopped what they were doing and jumped right in to help! While showing me what I asked for, the produce guy loaded my case of turkey wings into my cart, reminding me that his grandfather would kill him if he knew he allowed me to lift that heavy box! This is a locally owned grocery store that have the best prices. It's not real fancy like Wegmans or whole foods but their prices are worth it. I always come here when I am cooking food for Thanksgiving or a big event. Great sales on produce, lunchmeat and seafood. The Customer Service is good here. They Double coupons up to $1.00. The market is kinda small but if you come early/first one to arrive you will be in and out. If you have dietary restrictions, Vegan, Celiac disease, or looking for real fancy products this may not be the market for you. read more

Hey so this place is on Hamilton Avenue right behind the MainStreet of Harford for the Hamilton-Lauraville. I had driven a few miles either way to Giant and Safeway...this is walkable for me and I'm glad I went. This store prevents a food desert for many a neighborhood nearby. It is a small, easily accessible grocery and it's busy and bustling with some friendly staffers. It is cheap in my experience and has most staples. No luxury items like say, capers. It's not a yuppie store. Not the best produce ive seen or meats but not bad either and affordable. For me, if I need hamburger buns or ketchup...or paper plates...or chips...or milk yogurt etc. I'll go. read more

Pretty good market to shop at if you don't have much fund. I spent about $57.00. I was able to get lunch meat, sandwich thins, milk, 2 bags of popcorn chicken, 5 sugar free drinks, sugar free powder drink, french toast sticks, party wings, carrots, frozen baby shrimp, shredded cheese, salad dressing, honey bar b q sauce, oodles and noodles, saltines crackers, hash browns, craisins, bacon bits, red onion, deodorant, cinnamon twirls and even some hot dogs. The staff was very helpful in helping me find things I could not find. I would surely return to this place, I am good for a minute. read more

I like to know how Harvest Fare can sell me frozen Swai fish at the same price as fresh? We all know that frozen fish has a lot of water frozen in it therefore weighing much more than fresh fish does. The person selling me the fish told me that she would not deduct anything & that they were the same price. I should have spoken with management, the lady serving me I feel just didn't know. Harvest Fare is the kind of grocery store that is one step up from a convenience store. It's bigger, with a wider selection, and cheaper than places in the worst food deserts. However, across the street is The Green Onion, which stands in very sharp contrast to this establishment. Positives: Cheap, plenty of free parking, not filthy. Negatives: Produce, meats, and dairy will spoil very quickly; everything else is chock full of preservatives and fat. read more

Nice meat store, but there is one very unprofessional "security guard" that works at the store in Northwest Plaza that makes me feel very uncomfortable. He seems to be the head security guard there. I know he is trying to keep customers from stealing, but that is not me. I am a 66 years old senior citizens and I have no reason to steal anything in that store. The store is right across the street from where i live which makes it very easy for me to shop there. But I feel so intimidated when I enter the store and if you bring your shopping cart in the store security will follow you. I have never before experience this type of harassment in a store before and I am considering shopping somewhere else. I hope management can change this behavior. read more

I love this supermarket especially for meats. I go here all the time to buy my meats in bulk. Where else can I get 20 pounds of chicken leg quarters for $10? The produce isn't the freshest and the deli isn't the fastest but this hidden gem of a market has good deals and good prices. And they double coupons! For an extreme couponer like myself, I love the fact they double coupons up to $1.00. Cashiers have always been courteous, nice, fun and friendly. This is standard discount grocery store. It's located in an area that does not have a ton of grocery store options, so it's nice that there is a place that carries fresh produce, meat, and packaged goods. The store isn't super clean, and it's not a high-end experience by any means, but they're also not billing themselves as one. It appears that some of the food is sold close to expiration, and I've only ever purchased small produce items that I was planning to use that day or canned and packaged goods for this reason. If you're looking for quick grocery shopping option, this store could be good! read more

For what and when he feels compelled to do his job. Today I dealt with a very unprofessional one who is anything but professional. I've been shopping at Harvest Fare for over 10 years. I find this to be the best store in the neighborhood for reasonable food prices. Don't just count on the sale items in the flyer that starts on Wednesday. Once you come in the store, it's always extra items on special that you are sure to throw in your cart. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Right down to management. I saw on a couple of occasions when the store was busy the mangers came from behind the glass wall and assisted bagging the groceries. that's what I call team work! I would like to have given more stars, but after my experience Memorial Day, I am furious. I have shopped at Harvest Fare for 10+ years and never experienced the bs I did that day. I called ahead to the seafood dept to see if they had any whole salmons and the price. I live on the other side of town and didn't want to make an unecessary trip. I was told that they did have whole salmons and they were $5.99/lb. When I got there, the young man in the seafood dept told me that he didn't know how to fillet the salmon and if he sold it to me, he wouldn't be able to cut it for me. I went to talk to mgmt because how does the person in the seafood dept not know how to cut the fish? Mgmt was confused as well and when she called to talk to the young man in seafood he then said that he was told that if someone bought a whole salmon that they could only get it cut into steaks. WHAT? The supervisor even said to him that you can't tell ppl how to get their fish cut. Another worker went to get clarity from seafood and came back to say the seafood dept worker says he can filet the salmon for me, but it would cost me $7.99/lb onstead of $5.99/lb for labor fee. WHAT?!?!? So not only was I lied to when he told me he didn't know how to filet the fish now you wanna charge me extra for you to cut it. Needless to say I put everything in my cart back and left. That left a really bad taste in my mouth. I always buy my fish from there and never been charged extra to have it cut. The fact that the worker was trying to justify the blatent upcharge because seafood guy didn't want to do 'his job' was even more insulting. NEVER AGAIN!! read more
