We've been to this restaurant a few times before, and we always had a great experience. But this visit was completely different. We ordered the cinnamon rolls and a few breakfast dishes like we usually do. Then, to our surprise, we watched a server give my food to another table -- apparently to people they knew. Because of that, we ended up waiting a really long time for the rest of our food to finally come out. It was pretty obvious the server did it on purpose, because that table had just sat down and hadn't even ordered drinks yet -- and somehow our food was gracefully delivered right to them. This is a totally hidden restaurant that transports you into an instant vacation. It's at "The Ranch" resort in Laguna and a place I would have never known about if it wasn't for yelp. I recommend using GPS because the turn off on PCH is easy to miss. Look for The Ranch signage. I still missed it and had to make a u-turn. Next when following the road and you see another sign for the Ranch the arrow is pointing forward. Keep going straight it'll take you to the resort. For some reason I took the forward arrow as a right turn and turned right. If you do the same you'll eventually come to a wooden foot bridge and a dead end. Make a left at the foot bridge and this will also take you to the resort. Parking is valet only but free! Walk into the hotel and the restaurant is in the back. Just look for the breath taking views. On yelp you'll see plenty of pictures of a huge patio but this is actually another spot on the resort and not Harvest. The restaurant still has a patio but it was pretty small and they had no seats available. We did get a great table at the window though that not only provided the same panoramic views but also air conditioning! Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and has a weekend brunch menu. We came on a weekday so we went for lunch. To start I had the French Onion soup which was coated in gruyere and parmesan. Delicious soup and one of the better versions I've had. While eating my soup my wife saw another table get the fried squash blossoms so she ordered one too. They were stuffed with lemon herb ricotta, pistachio dukkah, and green goddess dressing. We both thought they were good but probably wouldn't order again. For the price needed a bit more, maybe another piece. For entree I had the steak salad. It came with a perfectly cooked 8 ounce hanger steak which was surprisingly melt in your mouth tender. It had a nice season rub on it came with chimichurri sauce to dip. Steak was served whole so you can eat it like a steak or slice it up for your salad. The salad itself was arugala, frisee, fresno chilis, avocado, thick chunks of smoked bacon, parmesan, sourdough croutons, and mustard vinaigrette. It's hard to tell from my picture but this was a huge salad. Everything about it was great and if you're in the mood for a steak this is a great choice. My wife went with the BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich. Piles of tri-tip covered in peach BBQ sauce, crispy onions, and aged cheddar, and housemade potato chips. She avoids carbs so it was a vacation splurge and she said it was worth the splurge. I took a bite and really liked the flavor of the bbq sauce. The housemade potato chips were awesome, great seasoning. We both had cocktails too. I had a pineapple serrano mezcal drink which was awesome and I can't recall what my wife ordered. At this point we should have called it a day but I saw on yelp a cinnamon roll. A very expensive cinnamon roll. Out of curiosity I asked about it and our waitress aid they usually keep a few on hand after breakfast for people like me in the know. Sure, YOLO, let's get one. Oh my god, no wonder this thing costs so much. It was the size of a head. HUGE cinnamon roll covered in candied bacon, cream cheese frosting, and maple syrup. It was INSANE both in size and flavor. We got about halfway through it before giving up. Luckily it heated up great later. Washed it down with a coffee served in a really cool clay mug. Our waitress Daisy was AWESOME. She truly made our experience perfect. Excellent restaurant, highly recommend. You're in Laguna yet transported to what felt like the central coast. The wedge salad was expensive $23 so we split it and they did a nice job splitting it and it was more than enough and delicious, nice smokey bacon flavor. My visit to the Harvest was absolutely amazing. It is a gorgeous venue with amazing views tucked right into a little area of Laguna Beach along the Aliso Creek. The staff and hostesses were great and very attentive with all of our needs and questions. Our server, Juan, made our experience here absolutely wonderful and did a great job at letting us feel like a part of the community and welcome at everything The Ranch had to offer. Being a farm to table restaurant makes the dining experience absolutely unique. The menu was based on seasonal ingredients and really highlighted the amazing food presented. I ordered their daily special, a Uni Risotto, and added their daily catch of Salmon. My jaw was on the floor with this meal. The soft, butter-like uni, the crispy and perfectly seasoned salmon, crisp of the rice, and a fresh pairing with chayote and wakame made this meal perfect. I paired it with a glass of their Riesling. The people are so kind and accommodating! We brought our two toddlers and they were so kind and patient. Had a kids menu and crayons! The drinks here are amazing but this was our first time for lunch. I've never had a squash blossom but LOVED these. Fresh ricotta and green goddess dressing was creamy and herbal and fresh! The chicken tortilla soup was so perfect- slightly creamy, great flavor and lots of chicken! The shrimp tacos were incredible great seasoning on the shrimp. I didn't taste the jalepeno aioli but it was delicious nonetheless. The spiced chips and guac on the side were incredible. Those chips on top of the tortilla soup would have been perfect. Lovely atmosphere but disappointing experience. We've been here many times and although the food is just ok, it's the atmosphere we really enjoy. This time it was one mishap after another. The service was very frantic and disorganized. We ordered beer first and 10 minutes later our food. A different server brought out the food but our beer which we were hoping to have prior to food never came. On top of that, one of the dishes was incorrect and not what we had ordered. The server kept insisting that we keep the dish instead and my husband mentioned multiple times that he didn't want that dish. He left rolling his eyes as if that is our fault. After 10 mins we see our original server passing and flag him down, asking where our beer was and also what happened to my husband's food? He looked confused and said he will check into it. Then we see him make his rounds at other tables and taking orders as we were still waiting. My food (burger and fries) were completely cold at this point while we waited another 20 minutes for my husband's food to arrive. I ended up not eating my food as I lost my appetite and wasn't enjoying a cold burger. This is the worse part, we go to pickup our car from the valet and there was a major damage to the interior. We asked the valet driver on what had happened and he said he didn't know, maybe it was like that when we dropped it off?? He collected his tip and immediately took off. The car was perfectly fine before and my husband immediately said that to him, a piece of our door trim was falling off when they returned the car. If you're looking for a cute brunch date that has solid food and service, I highly recommend giving this space a chance! It is located next to a golf course with decent foot traffic, however, the restaurant didn't feel overly crowded. It's tucked away in a small street corner off of the PCH, but ample of space once you make your way inside. I believe it is valet only? unless you're able to find street parking which would be extremely rare. We made a reservation for a bachelorette brunch with a group of 10+ ladies and we were seat upon arrival. There were many empty tables with a lot of natural lights for a really nice indoor/outdoor feel. I will be honest, the food did taste like every other American brunch spots with similar service, so you're only paying a little bit more for the location and ambience. read more

I recently stayed at The Ranch Laguna and ate at Harvest multiple times during my visit. The service was absolutely amazing. Standout staff included Edgar G, Daniel, Modesto, Roberto, and Frank. They were kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to make every meal special. Service like this is exactly why I keep coming back. I loved the steak breakfast and the croissant breakfast. I also really enjoyed the chicken club and the posole soup. The pork chop was recommended to me and even though I'm not usually a pork chop person, it was good. I do wish I had tried the fish because I've heard such great things about it, hopefully next time! My water glass was never empty and I was always asked if I needed anything. Amazing restaurant located in "The Ranch" hotel. We came for a girls getaway weekend and had lunch and dinner here. Dinner items: Milk bread rolls-for a whopping $19, I had very high expectations. And it surprisingly delivered so well, we ordered a second one since there were 8 of us and not everyone got to try a roll with just one order. These were a garlicky, buttery, melt in your mouth warm bread roll that I've tried to make at home but just can't figure it out Garden mezze platter-babaganoush was amazing, white bean spread was ok Baby wedge salad-very good. I never order a wedge as I don't care for blue cheese too much, but we were all glad we got it. The blue cheese was not too overpowering Crispy skin salmon-very well cooked and seasoned Braised short rib-great portion, and not too fatty as many short ribs are Harissa grilled lamb loin- one of the hits of the night. We are there over Labor Day and was not impressed. The menu is basically elevated pub food and it fails to meet gastropub level. We started with the octopus which had an indescribably coarse mix of salami and beans and other stuff that didn't mesh at all with the octopus. There was a good sauce hidden under a pile of random food items like squash. I had the Ranch steak which is flakier bavette - the most tasteless steak I ever had. Seriously it was poorly salted and then nothing. No flavor at all. Partner had the burger. It was fine but again, are we at a fine dining restaurant or a pub? They have their own garden, and their food is made with the highest quality ingredients. We had the black cod special, the pork chop (my son-in-law said it was the best pork chop he's ever had!) Harvest is located inside The Ranch at Laguna Beach. Beautiful views, golf course, cottages/ rooms to stay in, a nice place for wedding venue (inside the Ranch). In fact when we were here, they were setting up by the golf course and below the restaurant patio which has a perfect view of the wedding reception venue. We went for lunch on a weekend, where they served breakfast and lunch from the menu. I believe they have valet parking which we didn't do and found self parking. There was not a lot of spaces for self parking as mostly are reserved for hotel guests. We parked a little further which we didn't mind as we also get to explore the place. And it was a nice day! I had the sweet tea fried chicken salad. The chicken was crunchy on the outside but moist and tender in the inside. It was nicely complemented with the candied pecans, baby spinach, goat cheese, strawberries, & avocado in balsamic vinaigrette dressing. My husband had the short rib breakfast burrito which came with a side of house chips and salsa. He enjoyed his burrito. I had some of his chips and salsa which I truly enjoyed with my very refreshing iced tea. Service was good! We had Kayla, who was happy to chat with us more about The Harvest. It's history, renovation a few years back, and at one point being owned by Montage. Mentioned a couple other businesses owned by the current owners. I went here for my birthday and the server, although I forget his name, was very thoughtful and gave great and realistic recommendations! We got the focaccia bread to share, it was fluffy and delicious. I got the red wine braised short ribs- they are a must try. I picked up my knife to quickly realized it wasn't necessary at all. The meat was so tender. Days later and I'm still daydreaming about this meal.
