He's a Whataburger kind of guy and today did not change his mind, sadly. He got a double meat burger of some kind and we were both very underwhelmed when he open his up. Sadly HatCreek has changed a lot in the past few years, and not all for good. Most disappointing are their prices and serving sizes. Their prices have increased A LOT and their portion sizes have gotten smaller. Most recently their hours and menu have changed. Most location don't open until 10am now, which is fine, but they have gotten rid of their breakfast items! Their breakfast tacos were by far the best thing on their menu & the last item that was decently priced. The once familiar faces of the manager & employees is now a rotation of unfamiliar faces. The employees are kind, but seem to be overworked and there are never enough employees on site to manage the customers. The outside tables are ALWAYS sticky and it's clear they are not cleaned. The turf around the playground is warped, torn and in bad need of replacement. HatCreek used to be our go-to place - morning meet-up, afternoon lunch, after-school snack or evening dinner with friends. Sadly that's not the case any longer. read more

Our burgers were super dry, lacked flavor and were pretty small for the cost. The loaded fries had cheese, some jalapeños and bacon. The cheese wasn't melted enough I'd come spots and over melted (hard) on other spots. We enjoyed a cup of their chili, that was the best part of the meal. Went through the drive thru after HEB which is right next door. The line didn't take long. Ordering was easy. The menu was clear to see. I went with the bacon cheeseburger option that they call The Bacon Royale. It comes with grilled onions and their hat creek sauce. The staff member at the window was very nice. When i told her it was my first time she got exited and went and grabbed me a few of the sauces and told me to try each one. The burger was very good. Seemes like all the burgers come as doubles. It was pretty thick so size was perfect. Bacon was crispy. I will definitely be back. read more

This is the worst Hat Creek I've ever been to, sat at the drive thru speaker for 5 min and zero response. Keep in mind nobody is line and it is not busy inside. I drive through to the window to see if the speaker is broke and the lady says rudely, "I said something" (????) If you said something why didn't you say it again. Especially for that whole duration. Zero customer service, if I sat there five minutes and heard nothing I highly doubt she said anything. Ugh! This is one to many times eating here. Ugh. WTF was I thinking. It's dirty, actually, it's pretty filthy. The tables are loaded with left overs from previous patrons. Not trays, but every table was loaded with a sticky mess. The chairs are coated in sticky pickle juice and sauce. Everything on the table tops, chairs, and the floor is a gummy, sticky mess. The area were the sauce is located is disgusting. There were no lids for the drinks, this included large and small. No containers for ketchup. Only a sticky mess in the condiments area. Even the packets of Mayo and mustard were sticky. The longer I waited for staff to locate items, the more grossed out I got. Not one staff member was wearing a mask. (I can over look this). One staff member was sneezing into his hands. Totally gross. He swiped his nose and cleaned his hands on his pants. He returned to cooking. Ugh. This place is nasty. I do not recommend anyone eating here. (I dumped my food in the self clean-up area they offered). The food served on my tray was even dirty. Definitely an upgrade from popular fast food burger restaurants. The burgers, both beef and turkey are pretty good. We live their sweet tea and the ice is perfect for filling your cup to splash tea over. Some ice melts super quickly and waters it down, but this ice is similar to the nugget ice! (For those who are ice connoisseurs). Service is friendly and restaurant is generally clean. We have been there on busier days where the mess was uncontrollable due to lack of staff and customers out the door. But overall we enjoy coming here! read more

I tried the location in Frisco after they first opened up in this area a couple of years ago. Finally stopped in to have a bite to eat. I've seen this place and thought with this location, it had better be good. The way this place is setup, you walk in and you're pretty much in line. After only a minute or so, I am greeted by a kind young man with a great attitude that takes my order. I order my food and have a seat, I was in the mood for a cob salad and was delighted to see something light on the menu. I sat down and my food was ready in a matter of minutes. Everyone here was friendly, the place was clean, and the salad was delicious. I've since been back and had burgers with the family. Everyone agreed this place is awesome and a great addition to Allen. The burgers are cooked well, the place is clean, the staff is friendly and the location is easy to get to. They are a bit pricey compared to other "similar" burger places, but not to the point that I won't be back. I wouldn't say the burger stands out to the point that I will seek this place on a burger craving, but if I'm in the area and want a burger, this place will do in a pinch. read more

Stopped by for breakfast on a weekday- but (for maybe the 1st time in my life) was *too early! - they don't open until 8am! So I went shopping at HEB next door & returned. I drove thru, ordered 2 breakfast tacos & coffee. The tacos were a good size (& juicy, beware) so one was enough & enjoyed the 2nd the next day. Glad 4 that because they're not cheap. The coffee s/be better. But maybe it's because I had just had a Starbucks in my go cup, it went cold. After tasting (3x) Hat Creek's warm coffee, I threw it out & went back to my cold Starbucks. Next time I'll get food at Hat Creek & make a second stop for coffee at Starbucks next door. read more

This location used to be our favorite. We are huge fans of Hat Creek (as indicated by our many Hat Creek reviews). But this location has run down which is so sad! The food is excellent and the counter service was good, but unfortunately it's just not as clean as it used to be. They were so busy on Sunday, no one was sanitizing or even cleaning the table after each rotation. The playground was very very very dirty and needed a power wash, and they took out their outdoor sink! I don't know what issues led to this decision, but the outdoor sink washing area to wash hands after eating outside and after playing in the playground is what set hat creek apart for us from all the other burger/playground venues. I hope management tends to these details... because there are several other locations that we will go to instead until they come back up to Hat Creek standards. read more

Pros: good service, pretty good burgers (tasted similar to Whataburger to me) Cons: didn't love the seasoning on the fries, and the fried pickles were pretty average, shake wasn't great (I got the Nutella bacon, but the bacon was just a small piece sitting on top and none mixed in) I ordered takeout and was confused with all the weird sauce names (hat sauce, happy sauce, etc) and didn't end up really liking any of them and I thought I would, so that was a little sad, but not their fault. My family and I really like coming here after church on a Sunday for lunch. It's at a great location in Allen for all of those who live nearby because there's not much restaurants along that side of Exchange. It's just a no frills, family friendly burger place - which reminds me a bit of Shake Shack. They just have really good and fresh hamburgers and they have an awesome playground for the kids. We will usually get the small hats with a side of tater tots or sweet potato fries. It's filling and it's great being able to just sit and eat while you watch the kids play, but it doesn't get too hot in the early afternoon and the eating section is covered. The playground part is not, so be mindful of having your kids take a break. You get to refill your drinks as needed and there's high chairs and booster seats available. My favorite part is that there's purse hooks on the side of the bench tables and there's a sink outside for handwashing. And also the bench seats can be broken up into a one seater or 2 seater so that it's actually easy to get in and out of. This is definitely one of my go to places for food and kid fun. read more

Oh yes! The pictures you are reviewing here on Yelp are TRUE!! They did not hold back while building this location! It is a beautiful A-framed building laid out perfectly for ordering food, getting your drinks and condiments. It really is fun. There are about a dozen four top tables inside. The majority of the seating, however, is outside picnic style (enclosed during the winter) and then extended towards the street front is a playground. We were there at lunchtime and it looked like a lot of parents were enjoying the playground area. Ordering and getting your food is traditional. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Onions & Swiss ($6.00), the Signature Burger ($9.00), and a side order of fries ($2.00). Lunch for two $18.00. We enjoyed our lunch! The food came out hot, in generous portions, and their unique sauces gave everything a different twist -- yummy for adding to a sandwich or dipping french fries. We watched all the lunches roll out. Three stars because this place is typically hit or miss. Today I went for breakfast for the first time and the tortillas were stale or maybe just not cooked properly. They also forgot to include the sauce I asked for. Secondly, I typically get the paleo bowl and they made the bowl much smaller than it used to be. So much so, it's difficult to even eat by getting a bite underneath the burger. Lastly, I can count on more than one hand when my order gets fudged. One time, it was a huge order with several mistakes and forgotten items (over $50) and when I called to share what happened and they said they would refund, I never got the refund.
