Once again I had to have Persian food while being on a business trip. So I had to listen, and use the good old Yelp to find a good Persian restaurant in the area. After reading some of This place's reviews and good rating on Yelp, I had to try it for myself. The indoor dinning was still closed due to pandemic, but they have a small seating area with heaters and a overhang on the walkway by the parking area. Not so exciting, but I was hungry and didn't care. The menu offers variety of Persian dishes and I wanted them all! But since I could only eat one dish, I chose the "chicken Barg" which comes with rice, and a side of cucumber yogurt. Both were delicious, and fresh. Came here with my brothers for lunch. I expected it to be more of a to-go type place, but it's actually a nice sit down restaurant. The service was great during our whole lunch. Our waitress was very nice. I ordered iced tea and was pleasantly surprised that it was flavored with Cardamon. I LOVE Cardamom tea! For lunch I got the Koobideh Combo, one beef, one chicken, with Basmati Rice. Hatam's is NOT messing around! I was served the two largest pieces of Koobideh I have ever seen. No joke, these were each over a foot long! And very tasty! Of course I was given a boatload of rice, which is the case at nearly every Persian restaurant I have ever been to. My brothers each ordered some sort of lamb dishes, which they both said were great. The cost of my enormous lunch (which will end up serving as two meals since I took half home) was only $14, including the tea! Hatam is definitely one of several restaurants that I wished was within 5 minutes from work and/or from home. I mean the distance - actually more about the time because of it - usually prevents me from "over" dining at these spots. But hey, I have to admit...this is one particular cuisine that I would NEVER get bored of. I'd totally eat it EVERYDAY, lol. I clearly recall the first time I visited this place with my friend who was celebrating his birthday. Yes, we both loved Mediterranean food so this was like a good choice to hang out, talk, and celebrate. So it was no surprise that the food is familiar to us. I browsed through the menu and my, oh my, the pictures...can fool you! I was SO close to ordering at least two plates (which I usually do in other places and finish without issue) but my friend stopped me by saying that the portions were large! I didn't completely believe him until I asked our host the portion size when placing the order. Our host merely said, "Oh, you *will* have some for lunch tomorrow." First time is always quite the experience and I tend to order a very mixed combination to have a better idea of the food. Yeah, I couldn't stop myself from breathing in all the aroma. 2. Shirazi salad's tartness and combination of flavors from onions and cucumbers is DELIGHTFUL as it pairs so well with the heavier flavors of the koobideh, lamb, and chicken. This contrast in flavors is just so sinful! 3. Lamb chops were tender, the koobideh was dripping juices all over the basmati rice (win!), and the chicken had this bright flavor profile to it. (OMG, I cannot start describing how much I'm craving it again right now while typing this after having it just last night.) NOTE: Portion size is definitely for sharing. I would say the safe ratio would be 2 plates to 3 people. Of course, our host brings out two boxes automatically with the bill. Umm how can anyone say no to good Persian food?! Well I guess unless you're broke, cause it still cost around $9 per person for lunch. It's in a plaza with a subway, small plaza, ghetto looking with unpaved small parking lot but you'll find a spot. Food and rice is delicious. It started getting crowded at 1220p for lunch. Place doesn't look like they'll make fresh cooked food, but they do... Nothing like it's been sitting out or old, all freshly looked :) Lamb shank is usually my fav to get at Persian restaurants, and it definitely hit my expectation....yummmm marrow still inside, soft lamb falling off the bone, sauce, and awesome rice. This is not anything like the Hatam in Mission Viejo! Maybe different owners?? I can honestly say this was the worst Persian food I've ever had in my life. Everything smelled funny and tasted awful. I love that Hatam is decent with there portion sizes especially when you order for to go. Literally me and like 3 other people can eat rice from 1 order. I usually order Hatam special #1 or #2 depending if I want fish or lamb and honestly I've enjoyed both. I do have to mention that sometimes they can get distracted, they have to be more attentive with their costumers. Also when ordering for food they have to be a little bit more consistent with handing out items for example condiments, utensils and such. I love the cafe vibe of the new location! It was perfect for lunch with my mom. We ordered adas polo with chicken barg (the chicken was so juicy!!) I typically don't order dessert, but I have been wanting to try faloodeh. I ordered the faloodeh and have no regrets! It has so many textures from the shaved ice, rice noodles, and rose water. The Lamb Shank was so tender it melted in my mouth and enough for two. You can always change the rice options so pay close attention and try something new. We have had good food here many times and yesterday's experience was a negative surprise, I realize it was Mother's Day and they were busy, however they told us 45 minutes wait for our multiple takeout Kabob dishes which was not an issue for us, however the rice was cold, the kabob was tasteless, the grilled tomatoes were raw, don't believe they had seen the grill flame for more than 10 seconds and the condiments that normally come with the takeaway was missing, needless to say all of this being discovered after we got home.
