Lamb shank + rib combo plate
Randy ..

Delicious lamb dishes at fair prices, you can also get free refills on the really well-spiced rice as well as the soup.

Came for a casual Friday lunch with the family. Service was fast and easy with a very simple menu and the food was ready very quickly. There were only 3 main options: 1) lamb shank, 2) lamb ribs, and 3) lamb skewers. All halal and made with New Zealand lamb which was awesome! We tried all 3: one plate of the shank/ribs combination (which came with a bed of rice, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup) and also one order of the lamb skewers which came with 3 skewers. Everything was excellent but the lamb shank was truly amazing and my favorite item - the meat was outrageously tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to take a piece - we had the shank just basic with no rub. The short ribs were a close second (we had these with the bbq rub and it was tremendous if you wanted more flavor). The skewers were decent - we had them plain because I didn't want anything too spicy but I would def recommend getting the rub for these if I were to get them again. The pickled veggies balanced the heavy meat and rice items perfectly to round out the meal. We also tried the jasmine yuzu tea drink and the homemade yoghurt which ended the meal nicely. I'm not a fan of lamb in general and generally avoid it at most restaurants, but I was loving every bite. Would highly recommend to try this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.

The service and food was great. Love the unique spices used. I got the lamb shank plate but substituted with a grilled shank. I didn't realize lamb ribs were almost entirely fat. The pickled carrots are really good too. Plenty of parking.

Rating 9/10 This place is fire. Staff/owner are very passionate and friendly. We ordered the combo plate, and the lamb skewers. The shank and rib are literally fall off the bone - so tender. The pickled vegetables are a great palette cleanser to the meat. The skewers are huge and juicy. Everything is good and fresh - from the soup to the chili oil to the lamb. Great spot, would highly recommend.

Phenomenal grilled lamb rib and shank combo. So tender and seasoned to perfection, even the rice. The pickled veggies is a well-balanced complement. The included soup with winter melon was a great addition to the cool weather in SoCal. Casual dining scene, ordering through the phone and able to pay on there as well.

First time here after a friend's recommendation, and wow--this place is basically a love letter to lamb. The menu is simple, straightforward, and very confident about it (as it should be). My mom ordered the lamb skewers, and let me tell you... this was the best lamb we've had since eating it in China 20 years ago. That's a bold statement, but the skewers earned it. Big portions, perfectly seasoned, and zero dryness. I went with the lamb shank plate, and the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender with absolutely none of that gamey smell people worry about. My favorite part? The rice. It soaked up all the lamb and carrot juices like it knew exactly what its job was. I could've eaten a whole bowl of just that. They also give you these small side dishes--pickled garlic, carrot, and cucumber--which made the meal feel extra thoughtful. Overall, just a fantastic food experience. My only suggestion: please expand and open more dining areas--this place deserves more space for all the lamb lovers out there.

The textbook example of doing a few things really well. We tried the lamb ribs, lamb shank and grilled skewers - essentially the whole menu and it was simple and delicious and felt like a warm hug. The braised lamb cuts were fall off the bone tender and the skewers were a spicy/chewy contrast. The lamb is high quality and not gamey at all. Service also was so genuinely kind and felt like we were being hosted by a friend (though it was our first time there). I really wanted to try the yogurt dessert but was too stuffed - something to look forward to next time!

We found M Joy in Anaheim because we were craving for some lamb shank. We got there on a Sunday afternoon; it wasn't busy but tables were never empty. We asked the cashier what was good for first timer, she recommended #3, rib and shank, both broiled and grilled. We also got extra grilled ribs because why not. The set came with rice with lamb fat, soup, fresh pickled veggies, hot oil and extra crushed seasoned hot peppers. For drinks, we got the salty milk tea to share, you can drink it hot or over ice. We recommend drink it hot, it was creamy, salty, and addicting. The dish size was pretty big. It was a bit pricy, but we were full from it. We really loved the grilled lamb. They were crispy outside and tender juicy inside. It wasn't even gamey, and one spoon of the hot oil and pepper dipped lamb, rice, and pickled veggies, a bite of heaven. Overall we had a fantastic experience. The cashier was friendly and helpful, even had a little social chat. Food was just delicious and unique. Definitely a return spot for us since we still want to try their lamb skewers. They also have a restaurant in SGV. If you order more than 2 combos, you can get rice refill for free.

The food is a little pricey but I genuinely think it's worth it. I recommend getting the grilled lamb ribs because the grilled fat renders it crispy, and it comes with a dry spice rub that gives it a flavorful kick, not at all spicy. Everything comes out piping hot which is also a great touch. The cherry on top is how quick the food arrives, which is incredibly satisfying service. Another added bonus is they offer disposable gloves so you can avoid greasy hands. There are 4 big tables inside as well as bar seating along the wall, and a few outdoor tables as well, with calm ambient music playing to serenade your deliciously special yet casual meal.

Absolutely love this spot in San Gabriel and it's no different at this location as well. Perfectly tender lamb cuts every time with no gameyness! It's truly my guilty pleasure... every week LOL be sure to try the Shank + Rib combo then get it grilled on the next visit it's life changing!! Simple no frills quaint spot for some quality food, it's basically a weekly ritual to come here

Very simple setting for such a delicious meal! The rest itself is small, bright and clean. You order using their QR code. The food itself was delicious! The lamb was so darn tender you just needed a fork. The seasonings were spot on yummy. We had the lamb served all three ways and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. I myself liked the grilled shank the best. Loved their dipping seasoning so much I wanted to take it home! Don't forget to wash down your meal with their tea and for sure try their yogurt. The yogurt was just the right texture and sweetness!

We ordered the lamb shank, ribs, and skewers and all were delicious. My kids loved it as well! My kids are 11, 11, & 12. Staff were very friendly & we were seated right away. Restaurant was a bit small but it was not busy when we came and it was also clean. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others.

Parking was easy, no wait to be seated on a Thursday evening and service was prompt and also checked up on us throughout the meal. Szechuan eggplant - so yum, arrived piping hot, it was coated in a super thin breading first before being fried and then coated in the Szechuan sauce. Slightly spicy, tangy and sweet, the classic Szechuan eggplant. Fish with veggies - loved how light but flavorful this dish was. Tender fish filet with garlic and a bunch of veggies, doesn't look very flavorful but it was very good! Would get again as a lighter dish compared to the others. Garlic pork - 魚香肉絲 this is typically my favorite dish in Chinese restaurants and saw it titled similarly in the menu but realized it's not cut into 絲 and it included celery, which the dish typically does not include. Not complaining though, the flavor was still great and I loved the dish, just different than what I expected. Sesame chicken - similar to orange chicken but without the orange flavor. Came piping hot and had good pieces of chicken within the breading. Sweet and sour, liked the flavor alot. The dishes came with rice! Would totally come back again to try the other dishes. My husband ordered the seafood boil style shrimp. We also ordered extra egg rolls for appetizers. The egg rolls came out instantly! They were soggy and cold. Did not come with any dipping sauce either. The chow mein had a shrimp taste to it, a strong shrimp taste! Very turned off by that. The kung pao chicken was "ok" there were more vegetables than chicken. The seafood boil style shrimp was TERRIBLE! Had very little seasoning, hardly any sauce and came lukewarm. Yuck on many levels. The service was just as bad as the food. Never checked on us ONCE or even spoke to us for that matter, after taking our order, other than to give us the bill. Rude as hell. Really pissed at the friend that recommended this place. Hoping I can spare some of you the trouble and wasted money. It's trash. Would never come back.

I apparently have emotional support soup. They're open late, which automatically earns bonus points for me. Sometimes a hot and sour soup craving crashes into my evening at 9 PM with the urgency of a medical emergency, and it's deeply reassuring to know that Lantern Garden is standing by to answer the call. The auntie working behind the counter was incredibly kind and patiently explained the entree options when I asked whether they came with rice. When I learned that a side bowl was $3, I briefly slipped into my "back in the day" era and held a tiny memorial service for the days when rice practically came free. Then I remembered it's 2026, sighed dramatically, and accepted my fate. I ordered the one bowl special with country style tofu, and of course, the hot and sour soup. The soup arrived at approximately the temperature of the earth's molten core. Did that stop me from taking an immediate bite? Of course not. I nearly sacrificed my taste buds because patience has never been one of my defining traits. It was worth every poor life decision. The soup was everything I'd been craving- tangy, savory, deeply comforting, and gloriously vinegar-forward. Every spoonful felt like my sinuses were receiving a warm hug while my soul quietly unclenched. If this soup had a loyalty program, I'd already be working toward platinum status. The country style tofu was equally delightful. The tofu was soft, fluffy, and wonderfully sponge-like, happily soaking up every drop of the savory sauce. Onions, serrrano peppers, carrots, and mushrooms, rounded everything out, creating a dish that somehow tasted both hearty and comforting, like something my childhood would have loved, even if it had never actually eaten it. The biggest plot twist was the portion size. What I assumed would be dinner turned into dinner and tomorrow's lunch. A few things spark as much joy as realizing future me has already been fed by past me's questionable ability to estimate portion sizes. Between the generous servings, genuinely warm service, late night hours, and a hot and sour soup that has already claimed permanent residency in my brain, I'll absolutely be back. At this point, it's less a question of if and more a question of when the next soup craving comes knocking.
