Came back to try lab rats. I must say that this escape room had it all! It required a LOT of communication and had a lot of brain scratching, out of the box thinking, and teamwork. If you are stuck, there is a "i am dumb" button. I think we had to press that about 4 times throughout the experience. Side note, I purchased their 3 volumes for Mother of Frankenstein. The game masters said that he just finished volume 2 and he's been playing it for over 10 hours. I will do another review for this when I start/finish. This was truly a fun escape room.

Lab Rat was so fun! I was signed up for Hatch Escapes Lab Rat by Renaissance Club, and had no idea what to expect because I had never done an escape room before ever! We had a group of 5 from Renaissance club and out of the 5 of us 3 had done an escape room before and one other player had not other than me. Since it was my first time in an escape room I really didn't know what to expect. I had no idea what to look at or do first. I'm not sure if having a big or small group is better, but we were told 5 or 6 is a perfect amount. I spent a little time running around to see the whole maze, and then chimed in here and there to help solve puzzles. The puzzles were not THAT easy, they really had us thinking, but then when we figured out HOW to solve each puzzle, then it was like OOOOH yes it's easy. I LOVED it though, it really made us think outside the box and it felt so gratifying each time we solved something! Hahaha. So in the end one of our players was standing in front of the last puzzle, and I think there was too much overthinking going on in his head. This is where having so many people in the room makes it more complicated, because he was standing directly in front of it with a couple other people and I couldn't see so well. I feel that if he hadn't stood right in front I could have probably figured out that last one faster. I had so much fun though so I think my takeaways are, don't overthink anything, have fun, don't take it too seriously, and keep your mind open to the possibilities! I cannot wait to do another escape room soon! I want to try The Nest it sounds so interesting and like a good one!

I came here with a group of half escape room enthusiasts and half newcomers to try out Rat Lab, which has a great variety of puzzles and rooms that any experience level could enjoy. Ben and Shiloh were great hosts for the game, giving a fun intro and keeping us on our toes with the commentary. The group overall had lots of fun and my friends who haven't tried an escape room before are itching to do more.

LabRat has been on my wishlist for almost a decade now and we finally played it and it does live up to its hype. We were immediately immersed into storytelling once we entered. The puzzles were straight forward, unique and satisfying to solve. The set design and the whole space were fun to explore. I was like a kid in a toy store. Thomas was our host and he was great! The place was easy to find but parking could be a struggle depending on the time.

My friends and I played Lab Rat and it was a fantastic experience! Lab Rat is really campy and immersive. The funny storytelling and witty puzzles are thoroughly entertaining. I'm personally used to escape rooms being a bit frustrating and overly cerebral. This one didn't leave me feeling stumped or inadequate in my solving skills. Eliran was friendly, personable, and fun to talk to! I'm excited for us to come back and try The Ladder next.

We climbed out way up the corportate clown ladder! Fun experience for parents and teens to do together!

SO much fun! We did The Ladder and didn't know what to expect. Great attention to detail, immersive experience, and creative story telling. The gaming aspect means lots of fun for everyone in your party, including guests who aren't puzzle people. Our experience guide, Manav, was awesome! He was engaging, helpful, and very funny. Would highly recommend him to guide you through your escape room experience. We'll be back!

A very solid and fun escape room to do with a group of friends! The puzzles are fairly cleverly written to the point where you have to think creatively, then once solved, feel a bit silly for realizing it took that long to solve. Their technology isn't super advanced, but it was still enjoyable to go through. The staff is super nice and accommodating. Our party had some stragglers that were late and they fortunately didnt mind. We still got our full time and they were courteous to chat with us about other escape room places! Booking an appointment on their website was super simple. I did notice that slots get filled up fairly quick, but you can check again later and it might open up due to a cancelling. Thats what happened for me when I was trying to book a 2PM. It got booked in the morning but then tried later in the day and it opened up again! Parking and pricing are the only reasons why I dont have them at 5 stars. They dont have their own parking; its residential street parking so it was a bit difficult to find a spot. We had to park further out. Also pricing is a bit more expensive, though you can tell it goes to a good cause. (Great staffing that's super dedicated to the fun and in developing more rooms).

Wow wow wow!!! To put into words how I truly felt about my experience here would be impossible. Lab Rat is a room that has been on my to-do-list since 2018 and even after all these years managed to be the BEST escape room I have done! (50+ rooms so far). I've held this in my back pocket for a long time searching for the right group to do it with and I finally found them Lab Rat will forever be one of my favorite memories and if you haven't tried this room out or have been waiting to do it all I can say is.... DO IT. Now that all being said..... the other room we did that night... The Ladder... how is it possible that Lab Rat... which was my No. 1 escape room after tonight... WAS BEATEN BY THE LADDER. Holy!!! This room is INCREDIBLE. It's immersive. It's challenging. It's fun. It's stimulating. It's so good that I cannot wait to come back again with my full team and try again!!! For an escape room to be replayable is a crazy concept and I truly believe that The Ladder is going to be in my top 3 rooms TWICE. Thank you again Hatch Escapes for an amazing night and thank you Ben for being an absolutely AMAZING game master. I truly believe the game master can have a great impact on the game and you were an absolute blast to play with. Your energy is amazing and I truly can't thank you enough for the experiences we had in both rooms! You made all of our nights TLDR: BOOK THE ROOMS NOW AND GO DO THEM!!

Great escape room if you're a woman who loves losing bodily autonomy!…read more My two friends and I (all female) recently did the Magic Kingdom room at Maze Rooms LA on Vermont. Before we started, the one person working offered an option to have surprise, intermittent visits from a character named "Steve the extra-terrestrial" (AKA that same game master wearing an alien mask). This option was a sort of expansion pack on the standard room, with Steve being described in vague terms as "a helper and a hinderer" i.e. he may help you get to the next step or he may make it more difficult for you to do so. We assumed this meant adjusting certain room elements or leading us to/from specific clues, thought it sounded like a fun challenge and accepted the Steve option. We did NOT realize this meant Steve would TICKLE US. ALL OF US. MULTIPLE TIMES. It is so wildly unacceptable to be repeatedly and unwelcomely touched, especially in this context. We had to stop midway to lecture this man about consent. He rounded out the evening with some sexual comments (which it seems were encouraged by the owner to be shared with every group) that made us all wildly uncomfortable and we left feeling icky, regretful and drained. Beyond the unwanted touching, the room itself needs maintenance; a few key items were broken or malfunctioning, and they had to do a full tech reset on the room halfway through. TL;DR: Take your money elsewhere unless you love getting tickled by strangers. And if you do come here, DO NOT DO THE STEVE OPTION.

We escaped the Godzilla vs Kong room over this Labor day weekend (Sunday) and I unfortunately have…read moreto remove stars due to technical problems in the room, incorrect resetting of the room, and poor game master quality (Nico). All of which were very immersion breaking and ruined the experience. Spoilers ahead for the Godzilla vs Kong escape room. There was only 1 technical problem but it made the experience harder and awkward. There's a part where you have to put your ear up to seashells (a conch specifically) on the wall and there's a sensor that detects when something (your ear/head) blocks it or is near it which triggers a sound to play. The sensors weren't good. We ended up having to use a finger to block the sensor to get the audio to play. The incorrect resetting of the room and poor game master quality may go hand in hand so will address these together. There's a volcano where you need to get 5 oblong rocks to divert the flow of lava by placing them in a series of holes in the volcano. At the start, there were 3 rocks already in the holes in the volcano, 1 rock in this metal protruding section, and the 5th rock was actually missing. There are these 3 holes in the room you're supposed to stick your head in and look up. These spaces where you stick your head in were pretty big, maybe 3-4 feet of space between the hole and the floor/ceiling/back wall. The 5th rock was on the floor inside one of the holes; which is NOT where it was supposed to be because it's dark in the hole (you get no controllable light source) and it was out of reach. We ended up having to use our phone flashlights and a metal arm grabber (trash grabber) from the first room to get the rock out of the hole. The game master (Nico) confirmed it wasn't supposed to be in there because he blamed us for putting it in there. Which is a strange accusation because 1. It's very obvious that the rocks are meant for the volcano and 2. our group of four would've known if one of us dropped the rock in that hole. We're not competitive escape artists but we've done a lot of escape rooms and this was easily the worst and most unimmersive experience I've ever had. Which is unfortunate because the theme was cool and production quality seemed like it'd be high. With just a few changes they could have something great but at the moment I can't recommend this escape room.

I would totally give this place more stars if I could! Whether you are new to escape rooms or you…read morehave done more than your fingers can count, you NEED to check out this particular location!! Even though 'Maze Rooms' has several locations, they have different owners so you won't get the same vibe from all of them. This particular one along with West LA/Santa Monica Blvd location have the same owners. I called on a weekend and Curtis happened to answer the phone. He was so patient with my questions and you can tell he loves escape rooms and wants to create the best experience for everyone. He designs these rooms and really adds a lot of detail that you don't see with some other companies. After picking his brain, we ended up choosing "They're Coming" and it is the most difficult room at this location. Don't let that scare you, you can ask for clues and really tailor it to your own level so that it's fun for everyone. We've done just over 50 escape rooms so we try to ask for as few clues as possible. So let's talk about the experience. We showed up and we were greeted by Brooke who was our game master. She was awesome! She made sure to answer our questions before we got started and didn't rush us at all. She definitely set the stage for a great time and even told us about the leaderboards they have posted. We didn't make the top list but we'll be back! Once we got into the room it was instantly engaging. We did hit a tough spot and had to ask for a couple clues and also realized that we didn't plug something in all the way so that ate up some time but we still made it out with time left. One of the things I liked about this room was that it was more of a story line, not just a theme. You're literally moving along the story as you go as opposed to just hearing a story before you go in a room that basically tells you what the goal is and the whole room just fits a theme like pirates or zombies or western. For some of you this may not make sense but trust me, not all escapes rooms are created equal. The puzzles were very creative and they all made sense. This room flowed really well, much better than I thought it would. There wasn't one puzzle that I didn't like and there was a lot of attention to detail. It wasn't a really dark room and there wasn't anything crazy scary but some kids may not like some of the props or a couple interactions. Just keep in mind it is a zombie apocalypse story. They have other options if you think this might not fit what you're looking for. So once we got done, Olivia also helped us out and she had the same positive vibe as Brooke. Overall, this is one of the best escape rooms I've been to. A few bonuses - If you missed it, there is currently (6/27/25) a Yelp promo code. They already have great prices compared to some others. Your room is private so you don't have to share with strangers. Parking was not difficult and we went on a Saturday evening. You can tip using Venmo or Cash App, I believe, so you don't need cash. It's easy to book online. What more do you need?! Go book a room! I copied the basic info from their site to make it easier for anyone who is considering this room. The plot: "The undead have risen in the heart of Los Angeles, where your group decided to do a simple, fun escape room. But now, the government has quarantined your entire surroundings so leaving is no longer an option. Your only chance is to find shelter, barricade yourselves in and get help before "THEY" get you.
