Very poor experience. The first issue was being overcharged. They did not honor their advertised price on the website. Second issue was they were about 15 minutes late getting us started. Next, we waited inside the escape room in silence for approximately 10 minutes for it to begin. Finally the experience was abruptly ended by the attendant saying we had run out of time leaving my child in tears. There was no warning that we were running low on time nor were there any prompts to move us along. I've been to at least a dozen escape rooms and never have I experienced being cut off and not allowed to finish, especially with young child present. I respectfully voiced my concerns to the attendant who told me a manager would speak to me. I waited another 10 minutes for a manager, who told me nothing could be done about any of my concerns and to contact corporate. read more

March is such a traditionally crazy time of year, when the wind blows in all directions and just about anything can happen, especially when it comes to the shenanigans of little people ... little blue people, to be precise! It's been an era and a half since we did a room with 60-Out (most previously reviewed), but when we found out they have a new location at the Howard Hughes Center in Los Angeles, AND they have a Smurfs room there, we knew we had found the right place for our spring game. Booking, as ever, was easy via the web site, and we filled out our waivers way ahead of time. Our Wednesday afternoon game total was extremely reasonable for a duo - and parking in the covered structure, was about $5/= for 75 minutes. The building was under construction the day we played (but all the businesses were open), and we spent some time trudging about the stages before we found the escalator leading up to our game. (The first game of any escape game is to find your way to the game, right?!) 60-Out's waiting area at this location was well-furnished, with comfortable seating and cool merch including Smurf plushies and some nice spots to pose with. We did not use the lockers provided since we only needed to put our phones in our pockets. The Smurfs is a great-looking game, as expected of 60-Out, but the extremely reasonable cost was even more terrific, once you take into consideration the game's professionally built set and high-tech special effects and great locks system. We would consider it a third generation (G3) room because there was not a single conventional lock. This, unfortunately, meant it was prone to glitches and our game host (great job, Nico!) had to override several of the locks for us. We arrived 40 minutes early because we miscalculated traffic, and they were able to accommodate with our own gamemaster even though they had another game going on. We really appreciated that, because traffic getting out of LA was horrendous - again, our fault for the bad timing! 60-Out's Le Pays Maudit was accordingly little-people-friendly, and our game required no crawling, although the floor was a little cobbled and uneven. The physical puzzles were unexpected but totally in theme. Lighting could be just a twee brighter, but the first room was so much fun we stayed much longer than we should have. Items are one and done, and it was easy to fathom the logic of the puzzles very quickly. The cartoons and voiceovers did make the game longer than it could be but added to the magic. We have to reiterate our appreciation that our gamemaster only administered one game at a time because there was no timer in the room, and if we had had to call for hints more than once, it would have been extremely frustrating. As it was, we were so glad to have managed to complete our game with Nico's help, at 63 minutes, only because of the technical glitches and just us taking our time. We also loved the victory photos Nico took for us on our phones. It was a little disappointing not to have taken them with props, but that would have led to some spoilers, and we are no Gargamel! It was hard to leave Smurf Village, and we give our experience four stars because of the technical glitches, but Nico gets a solid five stars from us, and we can't wait to see what else 60-Out comes up with in the new future! read more

My friends and I had an absolutely wonderful time at 60OUT! We played the Hotel on Route 66, and while it wasn't overwhelmingly scary, it was incredibly engaging and fun. I really appreciated our game master, who was thorough, helpful, and added so much to the experience. What I loved most was how spooky this theme was. It felt almost like stepping into a horror movie! The level was moderate in difficulty, so it was challenging enough to keep us engaged. There were still moments that gave me goosebumps. It took us exactly one hour to complete the quest. Overall, it was super fun and totally worth the money. I would definitely come back for another theme! read more

Not only are their rooms amazingly detailed, the staff really makes you feel like you're fully immersed in the experience. The rooms are not like other escape rooms because the tasks you do are completely different. They are not like the standard locks that you expect. The thing I love is that it feels like you're part of a movie experience. My family and I will definitely be returning to HHLA to finish all their other rooms, but we plan to visit all the other 60 out locations. As for HHLA, Jackie helped us book our back to back experience. Not only did she help us at the front desk, she was an amazing Game Master for Hotel on Road 66. I'll try to make an honest review but it's a struggle when the interactions with our host wasn't the best. More on that later. My group (which we have done 300+ rooms collectively) did Godzilla vs King Kong and we had a great time for the most part. The puzzles made sense and the room helps itself with the clues we found. The room also has an A.i. that guides you through your mission. Occasionally we would hear a different voice which was our host. The production quality is top notch! It felt like we were experiencing a special fx show at Universal Studios! I definitely recommend this room for all levels! Our interaction with our host is what brought down the rating. We usually try to book multiple rooms but this time it didn't happen. The other room we wanted to do was available but miscommunication prevented us from booking it. We were under the impression that we couldn't book it with smaller groups even though the site said it does. Also there was a kiosk for us to book the original room we had planned and when we ran into an issue on the touch screen he didn't offer to help us. Instead, he watched us struggle for a good 5 minutes. After we escaped he took our photo but he didn't adjust the settings on the iPad to get a good shot with the skull. He took us to the front of our room instead but didn't even get the whole name of the room in the shot. It's just some minor fixes that could help elevate the memory. read more

The Godzilla room had some minor tech issues, but Chris was good about paying attention and helping them work through. Been here 3x and 2 were good, 1 was terrible. Good: a good game master is a big differentiator. The game master triggers clues and s/he must be aware when you have solved a puzzle. The King Kong and Casino rooms were fun. Casino room was harder than the rating suggests. Bad: did the Smurf room with a rookie game master. He didn't trigger things when we solved a puzzle so we spent time redoing things so he could see it. Our group of 6 came here for opening weekend of this new room: Godzilla vs Kong Our game master (Anthony) was very friendly and professional. He described all the rules of the game and provided group with a couple clues when we got stuck on a couple puzzles. Overall, the production quality of the game was very high. Since we were one of the first to experience this new room, they also gifted each of us with a gift box containing a souvenir pen, keychain, and $5 gift card. The game itself was definitely medium difficulty level because our group completed it with 15 minutes remaining. We have done much more difficult rooms in the past so we can judge this room accordingly using our prior escape room experiences. I would still recommend this room for fans of Godzilla vs Kong and the Monsterverse movies. Even escape room newbies would enjoy this room. read more

I've come here twice. The first time was for the Casino Heist. Had a pretty decently fun time, GM was helpful when we asked, I think. Admittedly it's been a while and I don't remember that well, only that it was kind of old/beat up and I wasn't overall super impressed by the puzzles or anything (though not upset either). This most recent time was to try the hotel room escape room. Really, it was because it was a last minute decision. I am extremely weak to horror and would've much preferred doing the titanic room or some other escape room rather than what turned out to be more of a horror experience. Props for the horror experience. It was so scary for me for most of the rooms that I ... basically couldn't do anything. :( I appreciated that the staff let us know that it was a scary enough room that if we wanted, we could've refunded it, but the person I went with wanted to do one, so we did it. I just.. froze for a lot of it. The help from the GM was... inconsistent. There was a part of the puzzle where the instructions on what to do was already clear (in fact, most of this "escape room" was instructions in video form, do instructions, new scary experience, new instructions,... repeat), but I guess probably because I was scared and moving slowly, we were going too slowly for the GM? so she kept telling us to do things that we already knew to do. At a later time, we had the tools to move on but couldn't figure out how (really dumb oversight/not trying a key hard enough), and we finally officially asked for help from the GM..... for about three minutes. The GM was clearly mastering a different room at the same time or just not paying attention, because we were standing there waving our hands over and over, not doing anything else, for a fairly significant amount of time. The last puzzle we did, I believe the GM messed up. It seemed to require the GM to view us to trigger the solve (rather than it being mechanically built it), and unfortunately for her we had previously already "solved" it without her noticing or something. We had to basically undo and redo the puzzle in order for her to consider us having "solved" it. Basically... the experience itself was great for an experience room. It was very mediocre for a puzzle room. We still had a reasonable time, the spook was too spooky for me for sure haha, and the puzzles we did get to do were fun even if they were fast/simple... but I do find a GM makes or breaks a room sometimes, and this one broke it for me. Location is nice. I'd come back to do another actual puzzle room, I think. It's unfortunate that some other reviews also say they had issues with GMs not paying attention... hoping that's just the one GM. read more

We were celebrating a friend's birthday and did the Hotel on Route 666 room. Holy Cow! It was SO scary, but in a good way. The room was fresh, clean, new and super authentic. We actually felt like we were in a haunted hotel. Our Game Master Darius was on point and his masterful spooky vocal stylings added to scaring the beejesus out of us. He is also just a super cool guy... If you're up for a SPOOKY challenge, this room is for you. read more

Absolutely wrecked my mom's 77th birthday. I booked an escape room experience at the HHLA location on 3/31/26 at 12:50pm. It was my mother's 77th birthday and she wanted to try an escape room which was close by. I do a lot of escape rooms, and would not recommend this experience -- poor team management and poor room lighting/design overall. If you have issues with dark rooms and or claustrophobia, stay away! First point -- too dark. The lighting was so low that it made solving the puzzles in the room almost impossible. 2nd Point -- During one portion of the experience, my elderly mother said out loud that she didn't want to be separated. I know the team was able to see us / hear this, since they were responding to our other questions and making suggestions throughout the experience + there were cameras in the room. Sure enough, in the room there is a part where you are going to be separated and I announced out loud "If we are going to be separated from each other, I don't want to do this and I'm going to leave/ discontinue the room". No one replied to this over the speaker, and we were prompted over the speaker to separate -- and then doors closed separating us. I very quickly pressed the red button in the elevator to stop the experience. The doors reopened again slightly after fully closing, but then I couldn't get out. I tried to open them myself, but someone over the loud speaker said don't pull the doors. I pressed the red button again and nothing happened, but then someone over the speakers said "Stop pressing the button". For maybe a minute I thought I was locked in that elevator with no way out and no guidance from the team about what was happening. Eventually the doors fully reopened, and we walked out of the room through the door we entered. The person at the front desk who had checked us in / spoke to us through the speakers met us in the hall and asked what was going on, and it seemed like they weren't aware at all of the situation occurring. They had headphones around their neck too, mpt sure if they were listening to music/doing something else while we were in the room. They offered for us to do another room, and the only other room my mother wanted to see was the titanic one -- which was low lighting there as well -- and given the mistrust already we decided to not do that room instead and left. It was a pretty disappointing experience of escape rooms for her birthday. I felt that the team who was managing the room did a poor job of considering the specific requests we had during the experience and let us be separated when I clearly stated out loud / beforehand that I did not want to continue the room if that was going to occur. Had the team been attentive to our requests, I would be fine if they discontinued the experience for us, or told us ahead of time we would be separated so we could make that choice on our own - but it felt like we were either tricked, ignored, or taken advantage of in this instance. read more

I've done a few escape rooms and this time my friends and I did the gorilla vs kong. I love the the interactions with everything but I felt like it was too short.. When finished it and in my head was wait.. that's it? Godzilla vs kong would be perfect for beginners. When we finished and stepped out of the room the employee was just going to walk us out. Normally they have yay you escaped or oh no you died or at least take a photo but they didnt.. we had to ask them to take it in front of the door. Maybe it's just this location? I also thought the cast member who was speaking was very quiet and it was hard to hear anything I thought jumaji was alot more interesting and fun for 60out escapes but that was at a different location. read more

By far the highest production value in any escape room I've stepped foot in. It's the most expensive escape room as well, but DEFINITELY for a good reason. I did the Godzilla vs Kong escape room, and every single puzzle felt intuitive and also went with the story. We had a big group, and they were happy to include everyone. I even got a birthday discount because it was 2 days before my birthday! The staff member was so kind, and did a great job at setting the stage and context for the room. Aesthetically it is super nice. However, the puzzle itself was okay. For $65, there were a lot of glitches and delays as we solved the puzzles. For the room we did, there was a colored light that was crucial to solving a puzzle and it was not working so we weren't figuring it out. There are a lot of cameras in the room but I don't think it works because our game master wasn't able to let us know that that was a missing piece in the puzzle. If they're inviting, you'll want to come back. This host made me want to run for the hills. She was awful. I do not understand how people in the reviews are saying Jackie was amazing. She was not at all for us. And they clearly do not pay attention to their rooms because we had our hands up multiple times and screamed Jackie, no response. So, the theming of the room was on point. I'll give them that. Wasn't a big fan of it otherwise. During the first room, hubby had a piece missing that he needed and ended up hair figuring it out without actually finding it (it wasn't actually in there btw). I like the rooms that have a countdown timer so you can keep an eye on that. At the very least, they could announce ever 15 mins or so, how much time you have left. Unlike some rooms you can also keep your phone, which I guess you can set your own timer but it would be nice if they just did that. You do get unlimited clues, if they help you timely, which they didn't. I feel like our game master was also doing another room or just not paying attention. I suppose it would be a piece of cake if you used your unlimited clues and went about it that way, we didn't do that. So, the minimal times we did ask for help, it sucked that the help wasn't timely. You do get periodic clues without even asking which was nice. As someone else said, it seemed like some of the puzzles were glitchy as well. Just wasn't a fan of the whole experience over all. We have been doing rooms since before they really blew up can say we have been to better. read more

Amazing time!! I've never done an escape room and was pretty nervous (I don't like being stuck in a space and I am not a great puzzler!) but 60out provided such a FUN experience!! A friendly staff member, Benny, greeted us upon arrival and took us through the rules of the game. They answered all of our questions and assured us that if we needed hints or there was a problem/emergency, they would be listening and could jump in at any time. Benny was so helpful and helped us have a really great time! We ended up having to ask for hints, but my boyfriend is super anti-hint, and Benny did a great job of making our hints still challenging instead of just giving us the answer flat out. We did it just the two of us and were able to complete the casino heist room with 4 minutes to spare, needing 2 hints. With more people it probably would've gone faster, so an hour is a fair amount of time while still putting some pressure on the game! The props were fun and imaginative and required a variety of actions- I was worried it was going to be 1000 keys but each puzzle had a different challenge. I will definitely be back to 60out! We went to the Smurf themed escape room, we had 2 nine year olds with us and they had an amazing time. Both the girls want to do another escape room sometime. Us adults had a fun time too, it was like nothing we ever experienced before. The manager is really nice. The puzzles weren't too difficult and the times we did get stuck you can ask for hints. Production Value: 5/5 The production value for this location was EXCELLENT. Both rooms we hit had well maintained props. All interactive portions were not worn down and were working perfectly. The sound effects were extremely clear and prompted us at the right times. For the Hotel on Road 66 (FYI - this one is scary!) got each one of our crew members with the scares. I also want to note that just the general feel for both rooms were done so well. We felt completely immersed in the storylines upon entry and never ever lost the feeling throughout the entire game. Storyline: 5/5 Both storylines were very unique. For Hotel on Road 66, it did contain familiar components of fear and haunting, but the backstory and introduction was completely unique compared to other common scary escape rooms. For the Smurf room, the usage of the lovable and recognizable Smurf characters was very welcoming for people of all ages. Execution/Gameplay: 4/5 Great execution and gameplay. The storyline unfolded naturally and the puzzles were intuitive. There were almost ZERO padlocks, which is an amazing feat compared to many escape rooms. The interactive props also did not feel out of place for the storyline. The only feedback I have regarding gameplay is the lighting in Hotel on Road 66. I'm possibly getting older, but for me and most of my crew, we were having difficulty reading certain clues and signs because the low lighting. The atmosphere for the room is meant to be dark, but I feel that we spent some extra time just trying to read certain signage. I'd suggest either a flashlight as an additional prop or if the amount of light in the room could be increased by 10-15%. Staff/Gamemaster (GM): 5/5 Our GM (Natalie) was amazing. She was extremely attentive and made sure were taken care for both rooms. She even sold us on the upcoming rooms (Kong and Titanic) coming later this year. We can't wait! read more

We did casino heist! It was pretty fun! Our game master noticed we were having trouble with our first clue and asked us over the PA if we needed help (lol). Only downside with this brand of escape rooms is they tend me be pricier than others esp for 2 ppl is $100 starting. And it's only for 1 hr of fun . It would be great if they offered better deals or packages- for ex) 2 ppl and empty rooms start at $30-35pp or prepaid packages of 3 or 4 rooms that come out to $35 pp. it's hard to get larger groups to participate. Escape rooms are definitely new adventure and fun! Just need to be alittle more affordable for smaller conisseurs. Weekday specials would be good too so rooms don't sit empty! read more
