I absolutely loved our experience at this escape room!!!! At first I was apprehensive since I'm pretty claustrophobic, but Tuesday, the owner, eased my worries. She was so gung-ho and uplifting about the whole experience. I found this location by randomly calling places I found on Apple Maps. She answered and said you can walk in I have something available. That was welcoming, first of all. Once we got there, we completed the waivers, forms, signed up online and did the payment, and then she took us to our room. It was called Inksidious. We escaped with 0:21 seconds left! Super fun, interactive, and clues for everyone in our group to solve. Teamwork at its best. Highly recommend! Amazing experience playing Inksidious at this location. We played as a group of 2 and were able to escape within the time limit. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible to do. Escape Room 66 is located in central Los Angeles. We came out to try their Inksidius room. This was our first time to this location, but we did their Prison Break room when they had a Tustin location, and we had a great experience. There is no on-site parking here, and you will have to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. We went on an early Sunday afternoon and Alcott Street was packed solid, but there were several spots available on Saturn Street, both of which are just around the corner. When you walk around to La Cienega, they are located inside of a blueish-grey colored building behind a dark wood gate. We were lucky and caught a car entering the parking lot so the gate was already open. If the gate is closed, hit the button on the intercom and they will buzz you in. Walk along the building until you can go left, and their front door is straight ahead on the bottom floor. The lobby is cool, a little on the darker lit side, with some Halloween type décor. We were greeted by our game master Gabe who gave us paper waivers to sign while he finished resetting the room. You can request unlimited clues, except for during the first ten minutes when you are on your own with no help. We had things scouted out pretty well, but started making real progress after our first hint at the ten minute mark. The room is mostly linear, with a good mix of locks and mechanical/physical puzzles. The décor and puzzles are tied into the theme well. The latter part is particularly unique with its styling. Gabe was quick to give us hints when requested, and we appreciated that he just gave us a small nudge without totally giving away what to do next. We escaped with a few minutes left. On the way out, Beans the chonky house cat dropped by the lobby to say hello and congratulate us on our escape. Escape Room 66 has great rooms, and we enjoyed this one. read more

We brought my daughter and 3 friends here to celebrate her 10th birthday and it was a great experience. We parked smoothly on the street and found the call box and entry easily. Game host Tuesday was welcoming and warm with the kids. Loved the mini fridge in front with juice boxes too! I held back so the kids could play and they were able to figure out a lot on their own...a few helpful hints popped up when it was clear we were lost, and a group of 4 kids and 2 adults was not too crowded and the kids were good about taking turns. The room was cute! Nice decorations and everything was well put together. Only ding is the bathroom felt a bit janky and had dish soap instead of hand soap. Tuesday gave my daughter a stuffy prize since it was her birthday which was a nice surprise. Fun place for a kiddo group! read more

We hadn't done an escape room in over 7+ years and with a quick search I stumbled across this one. Upon walking in i immediately loved the atmosphere, I felt like I was in a wonderland of mystical powers. I was greeted by Gabe who was extremely friendly and super helpful. He was an amazing game master. He introduced us to Beans whom, if you ever go, will find to be the cutest, most lovable kitty around. Beans sat in my lap as i signed the waiver, making sure I got every i dot and every t crossed. The game itself was immersive, the puzzles were very well thought out and were different than what we have encountered at other games. We did the Mushroom one (sorry off the top of my head i dont remember the name) and we were able to escape, with help ofcourse. We needed clues along the way and Gabe made sure to help us but did not make it easy either, he just simply pointed us in the right direction. There was three portions to this game, each one had a ton of puzzles to solve, each one requiring a different thought process. I did both of the rooms at the LA location this past weekend with another person and they were fantastic. With only a party of 2 we definitely needed a few hints along the way, but that taken into account I think these rooms would be super engaging for a larger group. Tuesday and Cole were great and amazing, but BEANS STOLE THE SHOW. Beans is such a little cutie. We love her. The rooms are great, but we spent a good 10-15 minutes beforehand with Beans, and about 10-15 minutes after with her. Anyways, we did Inksidious, and it was a lot of fun. The puzzles were extensive and there was a lot to do. Almost thought we weren't gonna finish on time though, but you can tell they put a lot of love and effort into this. I cannot say that much about the rooms, but I HIGHLY recommend it. Anyways, there will be street parking. Once you get to the building, you'll notice it looks like an apartment or motel. There's a large gate that they'll open when you let them know you're here. Once you walk into the place, just wow. Lots of fun, interactive, and spooky things to do. It's well-decorated and super cozy. You'll get what I mean if you go! Anyways, the owner is a sweetheart. She was just the best. She was informative and fun. You can definitely tell that this place was made with creativity and love. The game master too was so chill and honestly I highly recommend coming here. They just make you feel so welcomed. Our group of three absolutely loves escape rooms and have done just over 30 in the last year, so we've been looking for new places in the area to try out. Enter Escape Room 66 - few reviews across Google and Yelp so it's obviously new, but a perfect rating so of course we had to give it a try. WE LOVED IT. This room was full of puzzles - enough to keep us on our toes and be working on different things at the same time! - and the variety of puzzles was a huge gold star. Since we all like different types of puzzles (and each have our speciality), it gave everyone a chance to shine. The room itself was set up with great care abba attention to detail and we loved the Easter eggs throughout. We particularly enjoyed the change in music as we got closer to time s as well as the exit surprise - such a nice touch! Best of all - this is a family owned business, run and designed by Tuesday, our lovely game master, and her excitement in watching us go through the room she designed is infectious. Hands down, one of the best escape rooms we've done in recent memory. Even the entryway to the business is well decorated and designed. The room itself is incredible well designed, thought out, and executed. The puzzles are interesting and intentional, and the room is beautifully put together. We are a group of people who have done between 2 and 7 dozen rooms, and we loved it. We loved being able to gush to the creator and builder and pepper her with questions. The Mush Room was our third escape room for 2024, the second with Escape Room 66, and our first in their Los Angeles location. We had broken protocol when we did their very excellent room in Irvine (previously reviewed) but for The Mush Room, we went back to solving it as a duo, and had a wondrous time. At first we were a little hesitant, because The Mush Room was built to accommodate up to eight people, but we got lucky (it was St. Paddy's weekend) with Tuesday, our gamemaster and Taylor's daughter, Taylor being our super-cool gamemaster for our Irvine adventure. At both locations we felt welcome and well taken care of throughout the game, and if you are like us, non-professional empty-nesting escape roomers who just like to have a great time and enjoy other people's craftsmanship, good taste in décor and just to hang out with nice people for an hour or so, this is a terrific place to start. Our standing joke is that for many escape rooms, your adventure begins with the finding of the physical location of the business itself. It was pretty easy to find Escape Room 66 at their Irvine location, but The Mush Room was just a little trickier. Parking for us was on the street where the cute homes are, because there is a code to the gated parking lot on the weekend. It was not a problem for us - we always like checking out other neighbourhoods, and free parking in L.A. is always appreciated! A key is needed for the two very clean and well-stocked restrooms, which were outside the business but within the same building, but we were very happy about that: the men's room was downstairs and the ladies' a short flight up. Escape Room 66's magic starts right there in the lovely lobby. Every item there is meticulously placed, and the ambient dimness belied what you would expect when you got into the Mush Room. We met Beans, their cat one of us almost sat on - not saying who - before signing the waivers, and we really enjoyed the pep talk, where our questions were answered at the same time, as opposed to the introductory video. Excitement started really building up right at the lead-in, and The Mush Room was a sunny eye-opening contrast to the noir lobby. The tension set by the lead-in left us at once when we saw the colours in the room and heard the story from the screen that also served as our timer. The décor was bright and whimsical, and totally in line with the theme of a "magical grotto filled with mystical creatures." It was child-friendly, with nothing that would take your fingers off, and although we had been cautioned ahead of entry that we should be aware if we had any colour-blindness or claustrophobia that this may prove to be a challenge, with just the two of us, the room was a perfect size. The lighting was just right as well, perfect for spring, leprechauns, non-scary witches, and, of course, the funguys!! The Mush Room is what we consider a "G1" - Generation 1 room, which are non-technical and incorporate more traditional locks than electronic ones, require more brain-work than luck and less demanding physically. It's a multi-generational room, really, that you could take both grandchildren and grandparents to. In fact, kids would love this because of the cute bonus prizes we could get while solving Grendel's dilemma. Our favourite puzzles were the stump puzzle, donut puzzle and the liquorice puzzle, but the best part of the entire game was our gamemaster! Tuesday was friendly, warm and attentive. She played along with us, and somehow timed us so we had 29 seconds left on the clock! So thrilling! The victory photos she took for us on our phone were great: we love the handmade wood-burned signs, and it was a bonus that we were able to fit our time in the frame. Also, the lighting of the room - so flattering ... The Mush Room is a real find in the L. A. escape room scene - fun for all, not scary, and perfect for the season. Most of the rooms in L.A. are very sophisticated, with pricing to match, but G1 rooms are not so easy to find anymore, and this one came with a G1 price! read more

I celebrated my birthday at Escape Room 66 and I'm so glad that I did! Tuesday and her team were kind and personable. I did both Mush-room and INK-sidious and felt that the rooms were immersive with puzzles that were imaginative and kept you within the story of the room. The puzzles are all manual (keys, letter/number codes, etc.) and both the escape room newbies and seasoned experts in my group enjoyed Escape Room 66! I did have the maximum number of people in each room with me, which felt like a few too many, so if you want to feel more involved/work more collaboratively rather than divide and conquer, then I recommend that you go with a smaller group. read more

This is one of the best escape rooms I have ever been too! Ana was our game master, she was so sweet and helpful! The vibes is this place is so cute/magical inside and best of all the have an adorable thick kitty mascot there that greeted us and congratulated us with belly rubs after we completed our escape rooms! Headed south to play a relatively new room down in West LA on La Cienega. First, parking can be a little tricky and the location is in what feels oddly like a gated residential apartment building. But in we went and met Rudy who ran through the instructions with us and then headed into Inksidious (The Mush Room later). Both of these rooms are relatively low tech with a heavy reliance on combo locks (4-digit, 4-letter, 5-digit, 5-letter, 5-number/letter, directional, key, etc.) You get the idea. Puzzles were fairly straightforward, not particularly novel but they were still fun and enjoyable. The Mush Room was similar, although my favorite of the 2 rooms. The puzzles were slightly more inventive and detailed but still with a healthy dose of practical effects (e.g. measuring the length of a rope) and more locks. Overall, the rooms were good solid 4-star rooms. The bonus star goes to the owner, Tuesday, who was awesome! Warm, welcoming, eager to share what is clearly a passion project for her. We spent time after the rooms talking about escape rooms and the state of the industry among other things. This was the most fun I've had doing an escape room. We went for my birthday on March 21st with a pretty large group of people. Tuesday greeted us in the lobby and was a blast to converse with while we waited for the whole group to convene, very friendly, charismatic, and fun. We did the Mush Room and managed to escape, but the puzzles did not feel too difficult or too easy, and the aesthetic was so whimsical! You can see the love poured into the design of the rooms. It was approachable for both escape room veterans and newbies. We can't wait to go back and try the other room.
