We traveled all the way to Century City because it was my wife's birthday and we wanted to celebrate by doing the Only Murders in the Building game that we've been wanting to do for a while. The game itself was a lot of fun. It's not overly difficult but there are some puzzles that were pretty tough. Of courses, fans of the TV series will enjoy the tie-ins but it can really be enjoyed by anyone. What made this experience great was the incredible staff. Trevor welcomed us in and was super nice and friendly. He's clearly someone who loves escape games. Jasmyn was our game master and she was awesome. Perfectly managed our game and was very friendly. Our group had so much fun! We were a group of 11 so we had to split and blocked two games, but both groups had a blast! We did Depth and the other one, I forget, but it had to do with being in jail. Got to do the Only Murders in the Building room with my hubby and a friend here and it was super fun! Huge shoutout to Julianne and Lucas who were so nice and helpful. It's unlimited hints and Julianne was so kind and really guided us well. Last minute we decided to change the room and Lucas was super accommodating and we only had to pay the difference which was just a couple of dollars so not bad at all. Sooooo much fun!! We tried the submarine escape (the easiest one) but it definitely got my adrenaline pumping and gears turning I loved how hands on and how well designed everything was. My favorite part was the staff!! The front desk (I believe Jocelyn) was so sweet, and Patrick was the BEST guide. He knew exactly when to jump in (if we were wasting too much time on something) but also knew when we were close to figuring it out. We had booked a different escape room but the staff called us and told us that one of the clue was broken, but they handled it professionally and offered another room. Me and my family went there the first time yesterday, and whoa was it fun! To book it was very easy. I checked the same day before we go. If you are not super fixed on one time slot, they have tons of options. Time around 1pm is quite popular. So if that's the only time you can take maybe check a day or two earlier would help! I have been to a lot of escape room. We tried the Prison Break one is definitely top of the class! Puzzles are well designed and never always the same type. In this room it requires a bit collaboration with both cells (as you can imagine) and all of them are connected well. We are mixed with another family of 4. I have a 7 yrs old and they have 3 teens. Super high tech rooms, for 8 of us, over 300, these escape rooms are getting pricey. The room wasn't ready when we arrived so we had to wait an extra 20 minutes or so to get in. Understandable, when you have to prepare again. I would have given 5 stars, but the rooms were so small for 8 which is what they accommodate and muggy, zero air flow. We did the special cooperative room, it was okay- not many puzzles to solve, more so a few on a larger scale. read more

First time doing an escape room and this was such a wonderful experience! The staff are so friendly and do a great job explaining everything. The rooms are also so fun! We did the Only Murders in the Building room and it was on theme, the props felt high quality and the puzzles were challenging, fit the theme of the show, and were so well thought out. A friend of mine and I did the free Amazon FYC "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" pop-up event at The Escape Game LA in Century City this past weekend. The rooms were fairly small, but good enough to fit up to 6 people max. We did 2 games, one 15-min and one 30-min escape game geared towards the show. The setups for both games were well made and gave clear instructions. It was fairly easy to do them back to back considering that groups were cancelling at the last minute, and so the staff was accommodating and making our time there worthwhile. Every employee had a smile on their faces as they explained the game. You're escorted to your room by an employee. And when we were done, we were given cookies! Am very curious to know how their regular escape rooms are like and they seem well organized, engaging, and all around fun! We'll be back... read more

The moment we passed through the front door the staff members who greeted us were so friendly and welcoming we felt like we were at a friend's house for a special event. They really set our minds at ease and prepared (hyped) us for the fun to come. We had chosen the "Only Murders in the Building" quest for our escape. The setting was spectacular and included a lot of decorative elements mirroring the sets from the show. The video introduction to our mystery was performed by one of the show's actors which added to the theme. There were a number of challenges throughout the escape crusade so everyone in the group could be occupied with different tasks which kept it very interesting as we tried to bring all the clues together. There were also a number of "Easter Eggs" related to the show scattered around the rooms which provided a number of welcome surprises. The clues were all thought provoking but solvable. We "escaped" with time remaining on our clock and were all extremely satisfied with the experience that was both demanding and entertaining. Of course we chose Prison Break escape room, which is a 9/10 difficulty, and it's no easy task. A group of 4, had to think fast and utilize every possible way to escape. Huge shoutout to our Game Guide "Rowen" for being an excellent host and help. Without her, we would still be locked up we had soooo much fun! Pro tip: Communication is key! Did the Only Murders room with just my hubby for our anniversary. It's designed for up to 8 people so we went in with limited expectation that we'd complete it. For lovers of season 3, there are easter eggs galore. This is the first room I've ever had with tactile and audio clues necessary to complete the game. And there's a level of personal interaction I've never encountered across dozens of rooms. I love that the clues are so gentle. Have you considered..... Did you try.... The game helpers are watching so if you get the answer correct but don't have the right lock you're working on, they'll remind you of other places to look. But it's always very clue-like, and not point blank. This was super fun. Though there was a bit of an equipment malfunction making the audio clue harder to pick up, we were still able to complete this room in 53 minutes. I would say it would be REALLY cramped with 8 folks in these rooms. We were fine but I feel the first room would hold a max of 4 comfortably before people start banging into each other. This was a very good homage to the series and I'm glad we went. Eric was a great game master. read more

Terrible experience. The rooms are sold, not advertised, as a collective experience. Meaning the room we chose to do at 7:15 that had a max capacity of 8 was sold to two different groups to make it a 6 person play. My group (3 adults) and the second group (1 adult and 2 children) had to collectively do the room together. It was tough to navigate as we had to find the balance to not solve all the puzzles without over stepping and ruining the experience for kids and them telling us what to do as one of them already had done the same room prior. When we spent longer than a minute on the puzzle the kids immediately wanted to ask for a clue and didnt allow us time to figure out the game. When we left the escape room I asked the front desk person if they always force multiple groups to do the same game and he said yes. When I asked how then would one be able to do the room with just their group he said we would need to buy out the max capacity of 8 people for that room. So if my group of three wanted to do the room we would have to pay for 8 people to book the room without having to share it?! Unfortunate as I had planned to want to do this with my coworkers, but i dont want to if we are going to be forced to be put in the room with randos Forcing two or more groups in one room to get the max amount of players to capitalize on profit is a poor business strategy for an activity that is a team building exercise. I came here with my boyfriend and we played the escape room with just the two of us. It was not a busy day and we were lucky to get private experiences. The first one we wanted to do was The Depth and our guide was Shawn. He was super helpful and we really appreciated a lot of his hints. I feel like that was one of the biggest reasons why we were able to get out in time so thank you Shawn! We thought that some of the puzzles were very clever on that one. Once we were done, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to do a second escape room for 40% off. Chloe at the front desk thoroughly went over every single escape room and highly recommended Special Ops, so we did that one shortly after, and we had Joey for our guide. We appreciated his help as well, he was very attentive to make sure we were enjoying the game. This one was definitely a little harder on the 8/10 scale. Overall, we enjoyed both of our experiences very much and honestly loved coming here to spend the day out. Myself and my group were welcomed at the door upon entering and immediately booked into our reservation of 3 for Only Murder's in the Building. The room was spectacular and the puzzles were both challenging yet fun. The game itself reminded me of the Heist that I played with this company in New Orleans. I loved the immersive feeling with the incorporation of the story from the Hulu show. The star of the show, our Game Guide Jinx, was amazing at helping us through the game and funny as well! They remained immaculately professional and had just the right clues to help my group escape in the knick of time. We just did the Special Ops: Mysterious Market room at The Escape Game LA and I was blown away by the design, tech, and variety of clever puzzles. Any time you can get some interesting lateral thinking going on in one of these rooms as opposed to finding your fourth, 4-digit code of the night to open yet another combo lock - is a good time... but this one went above and beyond. We constantly felt like we were the clever ones (kudos to the truly clever designers). There is a 100% chance we'll be back to finish the remaining rooms here. My group of friends and I were looking for a new/fun alternative to celebrate Halloween, and stumbled across the "Only Murders In The Building" escape game! The game was both challenging and super fun! We loved all the creative riddles and had fun running around each room piecing clues together. Kallen was our host - he was super nice and funny! After the game (we escaped!) Kallen took the time to get all the pictures we wanted, answered all our questions about some of the riddles, and even gave us a sneak peak into another room they have available for booking. We escaped with quite a bit of time left on the clock, and left feeling like we maybe could have escaped with less clues (they are unlimited, if you ask), so we definitely want to come back to try again! I had a pretty good experience here! Carrie, who was at the front, was so warm and welcoming. I played the Depths which is a level 7/10 and I have to say, I really don't think it is that difficult. We made it through with one clue in 48 minutes. A couple of reasons why I took a star off: I don't like the shared room policy. With as much money as you spend ($180 for four people) you shouldn't have to share, especially given the types of people that you could end up in a room with. Luckily, the group that I got paired with was great but I did see that you could end up with three-15 year olds, for example, which wouldn't be any fun whatsoever. I also took a star off because I think that this room was super easy. The production value of the Escape Game Rooms is always so high, but this one was way too easy. I'd rate it as maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10 if you've ever done any other escape room. We did the only murders in the building escape room. It was an incredible experience. The puzzles were super fun, very hands on and had a great time with friends. Joe our game guide was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and super fun to chat with. We were fortunate enough to have successfully solved the escape room with 8 minutes left, and Joe came in and helped us with capturing the photos with the props in the room. So coool Kira was super friendly, she helped with the check in process and made sure everything went smoothly. She gave us all the necessary information required and walked us through some of the rooms they got. We did the Marketplace and Cosmic Crisis. Both are in different locations. The cost is 45.00 each. But you get a discount if you do 2 games on the same day.
