    Turkey Bacon Avocado

Hatch Sandwich Bar is a casual, locally-owned sandwich shop nestled near the town square. They offer various specials each day, along with a consistent menu, which is pretty neat to be able to have the energy and resources to have different sandwiches available. There is a decent amount of seating inside and outside. I also found the service to be warm and friendly with my food coming out promptly as it was made on the spot. I was raised in Hickory all my life, but never really ventured out to enjoy the local food scene. I am trying to do that a little bit more whenever I come back. I got the Turkey, Bacon, & Avocado sandwich without mixed greens. It was a really messy but a pretty good and filling meal. There was a bit too much avocado, but I liked the aioli as it added some flavor to the sandwich. Each sandwich also comes with a bag of chips! Overall, I would be interested in coming back and trying their other sandwiches... only if I had an out of town friend visiting. I think that the sandwiches are overpriced ($14 for a simple deli meat sandwich?). It also pains me to see their version of banh mi being priced that high as some of the best banh mi from Vietnamese-owned shops cost half that price. P.S. I see that Yelp has this spot listed as closed, but as of February 2026, it is definitely open!

Stopped by & grabbed lunch at Hatch Sandwich Bar in downtown Hickory & this place is a gem!! I've been here a few times & every time it's great! This is a chicken bowl I tried this week & loved it!

I cannot tell you how delicious the sandwiches at hatch are!! The specials are always tough to choose from. The sides are all homemade! Ever heard of a scallop or salmon bahn mi???!! Well they are amazing!! Counter style ordering, they deliver to your table. Very busy but worth the wait.

Time for lunch and I was able to get a parking space close to Hatch. We ordered at the counter and took a seat in the back where sandwiches were delivered about 15 minutes later. Made to order and they were busy, so this is an appropriate time. They have a cooler with beers and canned/bottled sodas. There is also a self-service soda fountain in the back. It's a nice dining area with different options for seating including a large communal table, some high tops and low tops. There might be a wifi. Restrooms were clean. Sandwiches arrived and they were great. I had chose the "Club" which was ham, turkey and bacon with appropriate fixings. Delicious, slightly messy, very yummy. My wife had the "Thanksgiving Turkey" with cranberry and thick sliced tomato. Also excellent. Great lunch, nice little place. I'm glad we found it! We have traveled through here for decades and never ventured off the beaten path. So glad we did today and found this amazing sandwich shop! Thanks to Yelp for helping us find it. The food menu is creative and provides healthy options as well as gluten-free. We had the Pork Belly BLT and the Turkey Rueben. Delicious! We just returned and loved the pork belly BLT and the chicken salad plate with sweet potato fries and shishito peppers. The aioli it came with was fantastic. Parking is scarce since it's right in the middle of downtown, and the wait is long but so worth it. Come when you can relax and enjoy.

Hickory, NC Cute outdoor seating. It also has indoor seating adjacent to the walk up window where you place your order for your sandwiches. They have a large selection of sandwiches to choose from. They all come with chips. You can order substitutions for an extra price. The turkey Reuben is served on a ciabatta bread. It had the right amount of food but lacked flavor. The pulled pork grilled cheese was delicious. Two types of melted cheese served on sourdough bread. Sandwiches seem to be slightly warm. I prefer it to be hot. Overall, it's a nice place to have lunch in downtown Hickory

I went to Hatch for the first time a month ago & I've been back three times already. It always seems to be busy but it is worth the wait! Also, be prepared to take your order to go as there are only 5 or 6 indoor bar seats & the rest is patio dining. Initially I went with a group & we all enjoyed our sandwiches...SO flavorful! The pickled carrots on the Pork Banh Mi were delicious & the Red Pepper Aioli on the Turkey Bacon Avocado was a great combination. Do yourself a favor & order the Maple Brussels Sprouts!

We look for highly rated restaurants, close to the interstate and which have outdoor seating because we have dogs. Bringing water for our dogs and cups to take our sweet tea with us, our server, Kiersten, was the epitome of friendly southern hospitality. The barbecue was delicious. You could see the smoker on the property. What set this apart was the choice of sides. There were several sides such as green bean casserole and creamed corn that you don't see at other barbecue joints. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NC.

Easily the best thing on the table and definitely worth trying. Unfortunately, everything else just didn't live up to it. The BBQ and brisket were a letdown -- lacking flavor, not as tender as expected, and just didn't have that true smoked BBQ quality you look for, especially in a place like Hickory where the standard is high. Service and atmosphere were fine, nothing bad there, but when the main focus is the food, it just didn't deliver the way I hoped it would. Left feeling disappointed and honestly wishing I had gone somewhere else. Might give it another shot down the road, but based on this visit, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

The service is outstanding and the guy that runs the food out seems like he knows everyone in the building. We had a very nice waitress that hustled throughout the room getting orders with the quickness. Even as busy as it was there never seemed to be a table or patron neglected. So we decided that we were going to give it a try. After looking at a menu and being approached by the host who gave us a brief introduction to the menu we were in for sure. We asked to sit indoors with it being a windy and somewhat humid day. They have plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. We were informed later by our excellent server, Ashlee that there is also seating upstairs! We forgot to take a tour! The decor is very chic, but not overly done. We were seated at a table, but booths are available as well. Even the women's restroom with chic. It needed to be picked up a bit but was nice. Our server Ashlee was excellent! Her upbeat personality and friendliness was in the 10 rating! For only being at the restaurant a couple of weeks I think her vibes will keep bringing customers back. But not only her vibes, the food is very good too! My friends were very happy with their main meal, me as well! I had the Chicken Panini and the companion (side dish) I selected was the Pan Fried Corn. Both very good! We did order shareables too! The Southwest egg rolls and the Charcuterie Board. We were very happy with both! I would definitely order them again. I ordered two alcoholic drinks. My first drink was called the Bees Knees (ginger, honey, lemon bourbon) and an Espresso Martini. Both were good. The ginger was very mild in the Bees Knees. We were quite full so we were not able to enjoy our desserts at the restaurant but did order them to go. We ordered the Crème Brûlée and Key Lime Cheesecakes to go. I enjoyed the Key Lime, a good balance of sweet and tart. A little perfumme for me but still good. The feedback on the Crème Brûlée, was ok. I didn't try it. When I visit this area again, I would surely come back here and try some other items on the menu. Parking in this area can be quite busy, especially on the weekends.
