Once again, I've been left famished after fasting for a doctor's office blood test. Lo and behold, Hate Mondays was literally around the corner. I picked it based on rave reviews from 2 YelpFriends (one of the reviews was an ROTD). Also, my wife and daughters had dined there and loved it. It is a small, non descript hole in the wall in a warehouse district which you'll probably need the GPS to find (I did). Once inside, I was warmly greeted by my wonderful server, Sofia. She sat down across from me and took the time to explain the menu, as well as how one can "get it your way" with additional toppings and sides. I decided to stay on script and get one of the day's specials, the smoked ribs. The smoker, which I parked next to, is fired up 3 times a week. My order of a half rack of St. Louis baby backs came out amazingly fast. The sauce was not too overwhelming, and allowed the fresh-smoked flavor to come through in a most genuine way. A side of fried pickles came out under fried and mushy, but this was a minor point when considering my overall experience. I did throw the kitchen a curve, and ordered a pulled pork on Texas toast sandwich, with melted cheese and a fried egg on top. The sandwich was the picture of perfection, and was heartily delicious. The proprietor of Hate Mondays, Karl, is truly one of the most convivial hosts I've ever met. Case in point: when I had asked for a beer, Karl explained that there was a temporary glitch in the beer/wine license precluding him from selling. Having said that, he offered me a complimentary BigTop Ashley Gang IPA which was great...from his own stash! He also remembered my wife and daughters from their visit 2 weeks prior. Later as he explains it "I love to cook", he produced from the smoker a pork loin roll, stuffed with Brie, cilantro, bacon, Mexican cheese with a spicy proprietary rub. He then sliced up this off-menu item and offered samples to all patrons in the house. It was awesome!! In conversation, I learned that Karl actively supports our police and firefighters. In fact there were several officers having lunch during my visit. I've always found cops to be a good indicator of great food at a reasonable price. I've been meaning to go to Hate Monday's since it first opened. I'm glad I finally had a chance to stop in today. Hate Monday's is a "hole in the wall" gem! Easy to find (1st bay door) in the warehouses with the smoker out front. You walk in and sit anywhere you'd like. It's a lot to take in because there's so much cool stuff to look at. Karl, the owner is a great friendly person who takes the time to go greet all his guests. He says that most of his guests bring him things to hang up on the walls, which is pretty cool. You can tell he's a standup guy! And a fellow southridge spartan! He recently won the Hamburger HouseParty 1st place trophy of 2018, so you know his food is good, if over 1000 people voted. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich which comes on buttered Texas toast and a side of corn nuggets. The sandwich was soooo good! Great bbq flavor and great bbq sauce. The price was excellent! We also ordered the half rack of smoked ribs. Oh my goodness!!!! Can you say AMAZING!!!! Cause they were! Also a great price. He's creative with the food so you can add items to sandwiches such as a fried egg, bacon, cheese, etc... I will definitely be back to support this local business. The vibe to this restaurant is an excellent and well thought out idea. It looked like a man cave and they did an excellent job making it look like I just went into one. The staff are extremely friendly and really take the time to care about the customers feedback about their place which i find super important. The food is also really good! I liked how they can a custom to whatever they want. I didn't really like how I had to pay extra for certain sides and the price was a little bit high but overall I'm a fan ! The burger was my favorite here. Next time I would want to try the pulled pork. Fresh, REAL barbecue that tastes as good as it smells. If you have to wait, it's definitely worth it. Not ideal seating inside for big parties or groups but we've brought a sun tent and set up in the parking lot - they totally accommodated us and brought out some seating etc. Burnt ends are a must if you're lucky enough to get them. read more

My new go to spot, had my favorite beer (Tourist Trappe), and the burger was phenomenal. It came with a side of crispy fries that didn't need any condiment to consume, absolutely delicious. Located in the warehouse district, this little place is rather hard to find. We were in front of it and still missed it. However, now we've found this, we've been back a few times. Their breakfast pancake is quite delicious, but what we come back for is their BBQ. Karl quitted his old job after twenty years of Monday paperworks (hence the name). He smokes ribs on Tue, Thur and Sat, and brisket on Fridays. While this is not quite the best BBQ I've tried, I would say it's the best in the neighborhood. The brisket needs way more time in the smoker to break down the tough meat and develop a bark, so we tried it once and that was enough. The ribs, on the other hand, while still can benefit from more cooking, have a nice bark, rich seasoning, so we'll sometime just get a rack to take home for dinner (as they close rather early). Of course, there is a limit to how early Karl can, or want to, get up to put the meat in the smoker, and I am thankful enough not to have to drive an hour for some good BBQ. read more

Ordered the smoked brisket, an order of ribs, and the the pulled pork croqueta sandwich. The brisket and the ribs were dry and tough. Didnt finish either one. My wife's sandwich was okay, the pulled pork was dry but the croquetas, condiments, pickles, and me adding bbq sauce saved this sandwich and was tasty. This place is just meh. read more

I just love this place more and more each time I come here. Such a breath of fresh air! I usually come only for takeout since they're close to work so I'm basing my reviews off of the short time I'm actually there interacting with staff (which speaks volumes for their level of customer service). The chef has always been there every time I go and he's always so nice. Thanking me for supporting them and stopping by. I can't tell you how much that means to me. I don't want to write a bias review. However, I do hope management reads these. Might help retain customers in the long term. Obviously, this place has many stars today, but if people continue to walk out without having the opportunity to try it, reviews will drop in the long run. Basically, my boyfriend arrived 10 mins before me during his lunch hour. He walked in, texted me to say there were no tables. He walked out waited me for, but since I was taking longer than expected he walked back in and walked towards the back area to see if they had additional sitting. There were no tables, he walked out again and waited in his car for me. Once I arrived we both sat inside, they have a little bench. We quickly decided that unfortunately it appeared that lunch was going to take too long, we could not wait, his lunch hour would surely pass. However, we did wait a few mins before we decided to leave. We ended up heading to a different spot close by, and we coincidentally both looked at each and discussed how no one ever greeted us or said a word. He said the first time he walked in no one said a word to him, the second time, or the third time along with myself. Honestly, it was very strange. I'm sure if someone would have said something along the lines of, "hello, here take a menu, you can sit a moment and we will get you a table as soon as someone leaves, etc... etc... We may have waited longer. The place smelled delicious, everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. However, I would attribute not staying to the below average service, which was not a good first impression. I can't imagine how many people walk out because of the same reason. Ordered takeout today and ate the food for the first time and last time. Both brisket meals were dry and stringy but the most disappointing part was that the establishment actively encourages its patrons to not wear masks during a deadly pandemic with signage that says they don't mandate masks, thanking DeSantis, and a trash can that says to throw your masks there. The servers and owners also don't wear masks and the tables are extremely close together. aesthetic: first time coming here today. it's literally a hidden gem, as it's area is full of warehouse & storage containers. not hard to find at all. as they say, don't just the book by its cover - cause from the outside it looks kinda sketchy. however once you enter it's just a really nice cozy place. cozy enough to be seated EXACTLY 22 people . customer service: both the servers, cooks & to my surprise the guests are quite nice. food quality: when it comes to food, my uncle & i both ordered half rack ribs, & it came out amazing. comparing it to commercial ribs from Duffy's & Flanigans - the ribs are less "fall of the bone" & more "easy to peel" & bite off. they DON'T smoother the ribs with BBQ sauce as that's a HUGE plus in my book. if you had an A5 Wagyu steak you wouldn't want to smoother it in sauce would you? exactly my point. conclusion: the place may not appeal to the eyes of everyone but you're going there to eat. plus, if the looks of the place scare some people off, it's more of a filter to keep some people away & keep this as one of your hidden gems read more
