This small cup is $13+ topping and $1brown sugar substitute

For a cafe that specializes in premium matcha the drink falls short of all expectations, especially at its price point. We got the Joyo3 and the taste was flat, no strong matcha notes. Feels like a gimmick when asked if we wanted to take a picture of the matcha pour. For $13 there are plenty of places you can go to where the matcha will have 1) better taste 2) bigger portion size 3) better priced and value. Do yourself a favor and skip this - for the owners of this establishment - please reevaluate what you are serving and how this compares to the surrounding competition.

had higher expectations, very disappointed. went to the kyoto hatoya and it was unreal, absolutely delicious, but this was probably worse than boba shop matcha for me. was so excited to try and decided to buy two because we were waiting in line anyway but for nearly $9 on their most original matcha latte, it was just not worth it in the slightest. regardless of the depth of color, the matcha was just even more simple than simple. it wasn't strong, nor bitter as some described it (which i just expected to be a good sign as i assumed them to be the types seeking sweet matcha drinks) but it just tasted like water with some regular tea powder. sweetness wouldn't have been the issue as i frequently range my matchas from 0-50% sweet and i asked for little sweetener here as well. i could understand overly milky matcha lattes if the ratio is off but this genuinely tasted like watered down plain green tea to me. i've had my share of bad matchas in my lifetime and this is near the lows. so expensive too. i'm used to paying 8-9 for a decent matcha though after being in la/oc & berkeley throughout my life but i think id pay max like $3 for this. the rice balls we added tasted better than the drink. i should add that it did taste better as i sipped on it and was okay about halfway into the drink but i could've just been gaslighting myself in justifying spending $20 on some bad drinks. aside from the drinks, the space is pretty but very crowded as it is a popular spot to visit. however, people were also walking out saying it wasn't worth it and we should've listened. go for the aesthetics perhaps. plus, i don't understand why they don't pour the whole whisked amount into the cup when it still has space and it's all measured out already too ~ after watching 10+ get made, rarely did they fully pour out all the matcha from the bowl into each drink. the service in terms of interaction is great but i could've not encouraged anyone to come if they do want a good matcha. maybe the regular/more expensive matcha teas are better due to being higher quality anyway, but that doesn't mean the original should be bad.

I was so excited to try this famous matcha café! My friend highly recommended it after trying the location in Japan. Who knew that there was another one in Vegas, of all places? When I arrived, there was already a line out the door, which wrapped around the corner. However, it was still fairly easy to find parking. I quickly got in line and waited, though I cannot remember for how long. I think it was also extra crowded because it was the weekend that BTS was here for a concert, so it probably isn't usually like this. While standing in line, we got to review the menu and ask questions to this worker who was managing the line. He regulated the number of people inside the store, which I actually appreciated because it made the inside feel less crowded/stuffy. It was a little confusing to order, but the cashier lady was super kind and helpful in guiding me through the menu. I ended up ordering the Joyo3 matcha because it was supposedly the highest grade of matcha that they had here (and it was definitely the most expensive). I paid about $13. The experience itself is really cool because you get to watch the workers measure out the matcha, whisk it in a specific way, and pour it right in front of your eyes. It's perfect for a filming opportunity. Everything in the store was very aesthetically pleasing; however, it is more of a grab-and-go type of spot; you're not really sitting and enjoying your matcha there. There's not enough space in the store, nor are there real tables. Unfortunately, my drink was a real letdown--and I don't say that lightly. I was so, so excited to try Hatoya (I dragged my whole family here), so imagine my disappointment when I took my first sip and grimaced. I get that it's high-quality, ceremonial-grade matcha, but it was just so bitter...like it could have benefited from some simple syrup. I think perhaps a latte would have been a better option. But sweetness aside, the matcha itself was just very hard to drink, almost rough. That being said, this is more of a reflection of my own lack of expertise with different strains of matcha. Regardless, all I know is that I paid a lot of money for a drink that I could not even finish half of. So all in all, I guess I was just very disappointed with my drink, however, I did enjoy everything else about my experience here. It might be very authentic matcha, but I just sadly could not appreciate it to its fullest...

Hojicha latte with mochi balls and hojicha ice cream

Visited on a weekday and it was not busy at all. I ordered the hojicha latte with hojicha ice cream on the side, and mochi balls. The presentation was fantastic, and the hojicha mixture was poured right in front of me. I really enjoyed my drink and ordered it with less syrup. Ice cream had a deep hojicha flavor, which is hard to find elsewhere. My only criticism would be that the mochi balls were hard. Not chewy or soft at all. Only stool seating and no tables, so it's more of a grab and go spot than a place to hang out and enjoy your order.

I tried Hatoya in Japan and was excited that one was opening in Vegas. There was no wait when we came on a Saturday afternoon, which we considered ourselves lucky. I probably wouldn't wait more than 20 mins for it. The staff was very knowledgeable about the varieties of matcha they offered and even took the time to talk about each one thoroughly. My friends and I all got different drinks so we could try each other's. Yes, it is pricey. But I think it is a nice treat from time to time. It also tasted pretty much similar to the one I had in Japan so the quality is consistent. The shop is small but they still have a decent amount of seatings. It could feel a little cramp if there is a crowd. We all agreed that the roasted matcha was everyone's favorite. I would definitely take friends or family who are visiting Vegas here.

I'm a huge fan of quality matcha, and there are many like me who enjoy premium matcha especially when traditionally prepared. Hatoya in Vegas is a complete miss, and it disheartens me to see people stand outside in the heat for a nearly $15-$20 drink that is less than 12oz. The matcha is very quality, don't get me wrong! But they do use a lot of ice and for each add on like ice cream, cream tops, or sweeteners, expect the price to keep going up. I feel like it's definitely not worth it especially with the coffee and matcha scene here in vegas. I was actually invited to the friends and family soft opening, so there was practically no one there. I couldn't have expected so many people to travel all the way to vegas for an okay drink. I spent nearly $30 on two drinks when I spent less than $10 for the same thing at Hatoya in Japan- I don't really understand how the price translates so drastically? If you're a matcha fan and have the time and money, it's worth the try! But there are definitely other matcha places just down the road with better price points!

Hatoya's first US location is here in Las Vegas! A friend told us about it and we were excited to try it out. I ordered an original matcha latte with ice cream matcha. Watching the staff make the drinks is a flashback to me in the lab kitchen. Precisely weighing matcha and room temperature water on a scale. Mixing together until the matcha is the right consistency. The last step was adding the matcha to a cup with milk and ice. They do the final preparation in front of you - pouring the matcha into the cup. A perfect time to take a photo or video. This ranks among the best matcha drinks I have ever had in terms of matcha flavor. The ice cream matcha had far and away more matcha than other ice cream I've had. It's minimally sweetened, but it works since the matcha quality is so high. I am really glad I got "normal sweetness" on the latte which is two levels above the default of "no sugar" (the middle option is "light sweetness"). I think this "normal sweetness" is the equivalent of 30% sugar on most milk tea places. I wanted to buy some matcha powder in the store, but they were completely sold out. The staff told me that their products can me purchased online at https://8108global.com/ A bit shocked at how low of a Yelp rating this store has. It's possibly the sticker shock. The flagship beverage on their menu is a matcha latte with two add-ons which would costs $13.50 before tax ($8 + $4.50 + $1). If you are any fan at all of matcha, I would highly recommend Hatoya.

Since it's a new location in the US, expect a long wait in the blistering heat. Line moved painfully slow but once you're inside, the excitement will hit. The hojicha tastes straight from Japan as is expected when you're paying close to $10 for one drink. The matcha is also very good and earthy. It is a smaller cafe with less seating. Overall, the drinks are good but does it justify the price? Only if you're used to $10 drinks. I wouldn't wait in an hour line in 100 degree weather for this but I would get it again.

The closest to tasting Japan, but in Vegas! Until we can physically get there, we would come here all the time but don't live here. Can you open one in San Diego? !!! Also everyone was so nice, customer service was lovely. The inside has a clean, natural Japanese aesthetic. Real matcha. Just how we like it. Of course it's going to be "grassier" because it's legit, made correctly (it's like a science) and not full of added syrups and sugars. Everything just tastes exactly like it should--no additives. We got 1 Matcha latte w/oatmilk, matcha ice cream, rice balls, and 1 Matcha w/salted cream top & matcha ice cream. FIRE!

I am pretty new to the matcha game but the few that I've had have been really sweet and not that great. I heard this place is authentic as it gets. This place is originally from Kyoto, Japan so it has to be great. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and she explained the menu. We got the salted cream matcha, matcha shake with matcha whip cream and original matcha with raw cane sugar. You ask, were they good and the answer...Absolutely. Holy moly they were all really good. I was told that matcha should have an earthy or nutty flavors and should not be too sweet. Mine was earthy with just a hint of sweetness. It was perfect and what matcha should taste like. The process is so beautifully made. It really is an authentic experience.

Yelp Review 2026 #51: All these reviews with 3 stars and under with "I've been to the one in Japan" comments - in this day and age, who hasn't?!? LOL. That doesn't make anyone an expert or connoisseur! I've been to Japan multiple times. I love matcha. My favorite matcha cafe/ shop is in Uji. Hatoya in Tokyo is great too. And I'm simply happy we have Hatoya in Vegas. I'm paying for the convenience of getting good matcha without having to book a flight to Japan and flying for hours. I can just hop in my car and drive to Chinatown. It's asinine to expect the same menu items from Japan vs the Vegas menu. Good quality matcha doesn't require frou frou. It's best enjoyed in its simplest form. No distractions from cold foams and what not. I love that they stay true to Japanese matcha preparation. Made to order, whisking with a chasen by hand, temperature controlled, vibrant green matcha powder, earthy leafy taste, nothing rushed. Their menu is simple and that's a good thing. You start with a base drink (4 types of matcha, hojicha, black tea) or just finish with that and no additional stuff. You can add sweetener of your choice (simple syrup, brown sugar syrup, fruity syrup), shiratama dango (mochi balls), matcha cream, matcha/ hojicha ice cream. The space is small. Parking spaces limited. You're meant to take your drink to-go. The staff is nice and pleasant. If you're expecting to pay $6-8 for matcha, if you want your drink ready within 5 minutes, if you want a place to chill with your friends, if you want a cafe to read a book/ study/ rot for hours at - this is not the place for you. I want Hatoya to stay in Vegas for good so "experts", please don't ruin it for us.

The flavors and vibe are a copy and paste from Japan. But where I think they fall is the price point vs size. The promotional sundae matcha drink can rack up quickly to $11-14 if you get all the toppings in the picture. Then you get given a small drink. Drink size is technically perfect and reminiscent of Japan, but for the price it ends up feeling severely overpriced (also considering that the price of this same item in Japan would probably be a fraction of the price, making it more worth it) Service is friendly and helpful, they take the time to give you a good experience. Lots of parking available. I did go back when it was first opened in the first 2 months, not sure if the hype and line have died down but when I went the line wrapped around the side of the building, taking maybe 40-45min to get to the register. I would probably not come back since there's many other matcha options available where I could get a bit more volume for a less price, but still quality drink

My niece is a matcha fiend and after we had sushi with my friends, my friends recommended we go here for "dessert." I've been wanting to try Hatoya but it was always busy. We came at a good time because the wait wasn't too long. I was overwhelmed with how many matcha drinks they had and even with the add ons. My niece decided to get a regular iced matcha with brown sugar and I got the iced salted foam matcha. I loved that they make the matcha in front of you and have you try it to adjust what you want. We were both happy with our drinks. The only reason why I docked a point was bc I thought it was too dark inside, but other than that, everything was great!

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 5/5 My second time at Pop Café and it's been awhile. I was looking for a spot to study late at night and remembered this cafe existed. Parking is a lot more trickier than I remember with surrounding businesses labeling their own stalls. I'd say unmarked in front of Pop Café there's like 12-14 stalls that's available. I had to drive around a couple of times to secure a spot here. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte and a supreme pizza. I wasn't expecting the pizza to be huge but it was for 1 person. It was very delicious too, it definitely didn't taste like a frozen pizza straight out of a box. My strawberry matcha was good too. I'd order both of these again. This place can get packed. I also saw that you could reserve some tables, I'm not sure how that works but I wish I asked. Even with people staying to get work done there were still a handful of people coming and going. There's free wifi that's good up to 4 hours with a purchase. The cashier will give you a slip of paper for the password. This is definitely one of my favorite late night places to study and I'll definitely be back!
