It's a huge space with some okay furniture. They didn't have what I needed. What bothered me more was the store clerk woman being so rude. Her tone, her attitude, the looks she gives- all were just mean! If she hates working with people that much, don't be in a service industry! Here's the kicker: she walked towards us and asked if we needed anything, I wasn't even soliciting her help and it's a furniture store! No one can steal stuff if that's what she was after! I can't possibly carry a couch in my pocket! They should just fire such people! Made me not want to buy 1 item I was somewhat interested in although get it wasn't what I came for. Apart from us, only 1 couple was there. The store is practically empty and the store attendant makes people like us leave with her attitude. I doubt this business will last long. read more

Similar to another post, I bought a couch here 3 years ago and it has been a disaster. It has down filling and I've got feathers all over the house. Right now I quickly looked and count 15 feathers exposed and working their way out on the cushions. See attached pics. There is also significant pilling on the cushions even on the middle one (which I infrequently sit on)--see attached picture of middle cushion. Finally, the cushions are horrible. That includes the ones for the back and the ones I sit on. They are very badly misshapen. It is nearly impossible to "beat them" back into shape. Just from sitting in one spot the seat cushions slide out creating 5 to 10 inch gaps. Horrible couch. read more

We spent between $4,000 and $5,000 two years ago at havertys in Fairfax on a sectional and two leather chairs. While the leather chairs are fine, the sectional is just terrible! We probably paid over $3,000 for it and the back cushions are all falling to pieces and losing their shape. We've had to pull the material out of the backs just to make the sectional usable. And I think we paid extra for the better cushions. We thought we would have this sectional for at least a decade. Now, only two years after buying, it's extremely uncomfortable. 5 stars for the couch, 1 star for the experience Originally shopping was great, they were limiting the number of customers for safety and it helped make me feel like I was important, but the employees weren't pushy. We found a couch and ordered it, and it was ready to be delivered yesterday. I was given a 1:45-3:45pm time slot for dropoff. At 4:15 with still no delivery, I called Haverty's and was told "the drivers are really behind, they left you a voicemail, your new time is 5:45-6:45." I never got any call or message, nor did I get a text even though I had signed up for delivery text alerts as well. The truck arrived at 7:05pm. I was using the online truck tracker, but that only updated once I called to ask about my delivery. The delivery gentlemen were very polite, quick, and careful with my couch, though they did track a bunch of leaves in and leave some pieces of trash behind. They let me know there was a problem with one piece - the technician had installed the connector for the sectional on the wrong side (the side it's on doesn't even make sense, you wouldn't have an arm in the middle of a sectional), so he put in a report and I am waiting to be called to schedule someone to come out and fix it. I understand unexpected things happen, but Haverty's never let me know they were going to be so many hours late and I had to just sit around all afternoon waiting. A "sorry, something came up, thanks for being patient" would have gone a long way. read more

Just don't. Took 18 weeks for our sectional to be delivered. Arrived damaged with stains an holes. I love their furniture and hate to write this, but enough is enough. Worst delivery experience I've ever had. I was given a two hour window that ended at 4:45 pm. The actual truck arrived at 7:16 pm. And no contact from Haverty's after 5 pm. Too many deliveries scheduled (13) in an 8 hour window. Horrible customer service. How hard is it to call a customer and keep them informed? And an essential part was not delivered so I can't fully use my purchase. I wonder how difficult it will be to get this part and have it installed? I have no confidence in Haverty's at all. Fantastic! I moved here and decided it was just easier to get new furniture than drag it from Boston, so after looking online at many, many, many places, I saw an ad on TV for Haverty's and decided to head over during the President's Day Sale (because what says Happy Birthday Deceased Presidents better than a sale??). Very nice, great furniture, no pressure employees, and the guy who wrote up my order, Alfredo, was terrific. I even called a couple days later when I decided to get a different dresser and we did the whole thing on the phone. I think I am all set with furniture for now, but if I need more, I will definitely go back there! read more

We went in, tried out a bunch of sofas, and settled on a sectional. Everything was fine, delivered quickly, and got a great financing package. Unfortunately from day one, and now a year later, we are still pulling feathers out of every pillow in the set. We must pull out 5 to 10 a day and it is constant and never-ending. They are sharp and poke us and are constant annoyance. Sectional is sagging in some places yet still firm in others and I would not recommend nor will I buy from this company again. read more

My 86 year old mother bought two chairs, a recliner and a rocker. The rocker was assembled incorrectly. The base was reversed. The delivery men had no idea how to fix it and made no attempt. A week later a replacement arrived with the same defect. Again it was returned. My mother returned to the store and with the assistence of her original sales person picked out a different chair. My mother took time to discuss the problem with rocker with the manager. The manager was indifferent and almost combative. It appears that once you have made a purchase from Havertys' you will not get the support you should get with damaged or incorrectly assembled products. In short, Caveat emptor. My shopping experience for new bedroom furniture here was pleasant. The sales associate that assisted me was not pushy and gave me space when shopping. I didn't make a purchase on my first visit because I wanted to compare their furniture to at least 2 other stores. After comparing; I decided Havertys was my place of choice due to quality of the furniture. I returned with my husband and the sales associated remained "not pushy" and assisted us with any questions we had during our purchase. I wish we'd used the design services because now I don't know how to decorate around our new bedroom set; also, we kind of laid on a mattress quickly and decided to purchase it. I wish we'd taken the advice of our sales associate to take our time with the mattress, but it seems to be a great mattress so far. This is where everything nice ends unfortunately. We had a bad experience on our delivery day when one of the deliverers became rude. After the headboard would not fit up our stairwell, I inquired if we could receive the rest of our delivery minus the bed. One of the deliverymen complied yes and as I thought both deliverymen left our home to get the rest of the delivery; one of them returned to make me sign to cancel our entire order and let me know someone would be contacting me. I then stated that I did not request this and that I wanted the rest of my delivery minus the bed; he then became irritated/agitated and harshly told me that wasn't what I requested and started talking in "circles". I tried to make light of the situation and kindly stated we had a miscommunication but he wasn't accepting that and continued to fuss saying that wasn't what I requested and left again. I assumed he was leaving to to undo the process of cancelling my order and begin delivery the rest of my delivery, but no; he came back and had a manager on the phone; as I tried to talk to the manager he was in the background complaining and making false statements the rest of our delivery also wouldn't fit up the stairs....it was just too much to the point I angrily decided to cancel my entire order and never shop from Haverty's again. My husband had to step in. Overall this man complained about everything from paper work, the sales associates of Haverty's, my furniture being too heavy, talked over me repeatedly, told me I was pretty much lying with what i requested, told me that i should return my entire order and purchase something else that matched, and almost seemed like he was going to refuse to deliver the rest of my furniture. This made me very frustrated, I just wanted my furniture and didn't understand the push back, nasty attitude and complaining. I just don't understand because I was never rude to him until i was pushed to the point of wanting to cancel the entire order and be done with Haverty's I filled out the survey and received no response from Haverty's; I later called their Customer Service line and the person was nice and worked with me; I quickly received a call with a solution; though I don't think it's enough for the headache I had to endure I do appreciate them getting back to me on the matter. I'm still on the fence if I'll ever shop here again because I don't want to run into this rude deliveryman ever again. read more

We bought a mid-priced sectional a few months ago at Havertys in Fairfax, Va and had it delivered. Price was good, delivery and setup were OK though they never attached the sectional brackets as we discussed in the store. After a couple weeks, small feathers started coming out of our pillows, and then the seams in the pillows began to come apart. My wife called the store and they offered several options... One was to bring them into store for replacement. Sounds simple... wasn't. The store for whatever reason was not able/ willing to immediately replace the in-stock item. Now my wife was told a "technician" could come to our home and repair them. A house visit for pillows...really? Never happened, even after multiple calls to store. They finally agreed to FedEx replacements to us... OVER 2 WEEKS AGO! Did they say FedEx or Pony Express, I wonder. I think they just don't care about their customers after they make the sale. Ridiculous! Overall, their floor sales was average, selection and pricing good, delivery acceptable but poor attention to detail, quality is lower than expected for this price point, and their customer service is horrific! That's why I give them low marks and a rating of 1 star. read more

This is just a scam store with not a single person with any degree of integrity. Long story short I ordered a recliner in Dct after waiting for 2 months. In Dec I cancelled the ordered because of the sheer arrogance of the sales representative Mary when I inquired about the order status. I left a befitting review here. The very next day both the Store Manager Rick and the regional manager called and apologized for the bad experience. After that interaction I felt that it might have overreacted for blaming an entire business for the irresponsible behavior of one employee and I removed my review. The regional manager promised that he will ensure the deliver happens during the last week of Dec and today Jan 11th when I called to check the status they are still scrambling for a delivery date. It is a shame to see an entire business being run but people who have no honor or integrity. I am disappointed that I need to cancel the order again but I am happy I do not need to deal with this fraud business anymore. We're furnishing a new house for our retirement, and salesman William and designer Tammy WENT OUT AND VISITED OUR MODEL HOME to see what we needed! WOW! "Beyond the call of duty" doesn't even scratch the surface! We happily slapped down over $10K for three roomfuls of new furniture with the help of these professionals. We don't watch HGTV and have NO clue what to do, but Tammy set up a slide show using photos of our (future) house and floor plans and Haverty's stuff, and it was a no-brainer! As someone who has always been afraid to buy a shower curtain, this was an amazing experience. William and Tammy totally clued into our eclectic style (who knew we liked mid-century modern?) and made this usually terrifying process (I have trouble buying a shower curtain) absolutely fun. Hubster and myself can't wait to drive back from our new home next year (at Lake Frederick, a 55+ community few miles north of Front Royal) and finish off the other rooms with the help of William and Tammy -- and the decent pricing/quality combination that Haverty's offers. Havertys furniture, especially their living room options, is right up my alley. The sofas are well-constructed, comfortable, stylish, while functional. I appreciate how many of their pieces have a more rustic/vintage touch while featuring a modern sensibility, never dated in appearance. The clean lines and simplicity of the designs make each of the pieces on the floor very versatile additions to your living/family room. For me, I wanted the sofa to be a focal point and a blank canvas.Havertys different styles can do just that for a living room. Most couches come in an array of fabrics, and, perhaps the best part, is that most items are customizable. You can switch out the arms, the legs, and the fabrics to meet your needs. I briefly considered a custom-made sofa from Urban Retreat, but I decided not to purchase from this business after reading multiple negative reviews. While I can't attest to the quality of their products, I can tell you that Havertys, despite not billing itself as a "warehouse" or using some other wording in its name to indicate bargain prices, is much more affordable. Customer service is prompt and friendly. Of course, true to their profession, the sales rep you'll deal with will be a bit more on the assertive side, but he or she will most likely also listen to your needs and try to find pieces that match what you are looking for. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. We usually buy furniture at crate and barrel and this is cheaper without losing too much in style and quality. The staff is very helpful and friendly as well. It is really covering a niche between he expensive places like crate and barrel restoration hardware west elm and pottery barn (as well as old people places like Ethan Allen and thomasville). But much nicer than ikea and the discount places like Marlo that are the tj maxx of furniture. Makes the wife happy without killing my checkbook too badly. read more

Following up our furniture ownership for about 2.5 years. The positive news is that our living room furniture (couch, swivel chair, recliner, ottomans) have held up well. Five Star furniture + Five Star Delivery - One Star Sales Consultant = Three Stars When my husband and I bought our home in 2010 we purchased over thirty pieces of furniture from Havertys in Dulles, VA with the help of a great Sales Consultant named Diane Ross. Havertys' beautiful furniture combined with Diane's competence and efficiency made Havertys our first choice for a decade whenever we needed a new piece of furniture. So in August when we decided we could use a settee in our home library, Havertys was the first place we perused, and the place where we ultimately decided to purchase. Diane Ross had since moved away from Loudoun County, and it was Sales Consultant Mike Brown at the Dulles store who assisted us. We had a very clear idea of what we were looking for and were unconcerned by the lack of attention from Mr. Brown, who was flattering other customers much of the time we were in the store. However, once we had selected the Monroe Settee to purchase we were interested to hear what colors were available to order, since we had been hoping for a shade of red to match our two overstuffed Havertys chairs. He assured us several times that the settee was only available in a creamy white shade called Bella Pearl and could not be purchased in any other color. This seemed strange because Diane Ross had always assured us that if we didn't like the fabric choice on the floor models they could be upholstered in a variety of shades and fabrics. But, since there seemed no reason for Mr. Brown to lie, we settled for the Bella Pearl and placed our order. Once home I went online to double-check the dimensions so I could have a space cleared for it when it was delivered. I was appalled and angry to discover that the Monroe Settee could be custom ordered in dozens of colors including eighteen shades of red! My husband returned to the store the following day where Mr. Brown admitted that yes, the settee could be ordered in a multitude of colors and had no clear response as to why he had been unwilling to help us make that selection the day previous. His half-hearted apology was very insincere and my husband decided to return the settee we had ordered in-store in favor of shopping at Havertys online. Mr. Brown was very reluctant to process the refund, but eventually stopped contending and complied. After the return, my husband persuaded Mr. Brown to show him color swatches available to upholster the Monroe Settee; None of the color names on the swatches were the same as those listed online (though the colors themselves seemed similar). As yet another example of unhelpful incompetence -- or a willful waste of our time -- when we called customer service to confirm the color names on the swatches they informed us that the color swatches Mr. Brown showed my husband were not shades or fabrics currently available from corporate. We placed our order online hoping that the color we'd chosen from our computer screen -- Bella Berry -- was true to life and would match our Havertys overstuffed chairs. The settee was delivered nine weeks later. Our deliverymen, Darell Tarry and Gregory Smith, were courteous and professional: they wore masks and treated our new settee with care, making sure we were satisfied -- the professionalism we have come to expect after so many furniture deliveries from Havertys. Since we were never able to view a fabric sample in person, it was a relief the garnet shade of the velvet settee complimented our other Havertys furniture pieces perfectly! Although we are very pleased with our new settee, the shopping experience was very dissatisfying. While Sales Consultant Mike Brown emailed a requisite apology after the fact, it does not mitigate the time wasted and the risks we underwent to select this piece of furniture. To shop in person with my husband, it was necessary to bring our small children to the store with us (masked accordingly for COVID-19) since, in the midst of a pandemic, it is not safe to leave them with anyone. Dulles is the closest Havertys to our home and it is located approximately 20 miles away. In order to conduct the return/cancellation, my husband was obligated to make a return trip, and expend time away from work and additional PPE, which is extremely difficult to find in our area. Mr. Brown showed a complete lack of regard for our time and safety -- his feeble emailed apology was a poor substitute for the excellent customer service we had come to expect from our previous experiences with Diane Ross. For a decade we thought that Diane Ross was representative of the integrity and high quality customer service that Havertys expected of its employees. It seems clear now that we were mistaken and she was simply an unusually exceptional Sales Consultant. After this recent experience with Mike Brown at Havertys in Dulles, I do not know if my husband and I will ever shop for furniture at Havertys in Dulles again. read more

This is the absolute best place to buy furniture, hands down. I have shopped at many places locally including Belfort, Ashley Furniture, and Bob's, and this place wins every time. Not only is the quality great, but their customer service is amazing. I purchased a couch on a Friday, they told me it could be delivered the following Saturday but only in a grey color, not the gold color I wanted. I was swayed to buy it because they told me I can buy now and if for any reason I change my mind they can change or cancel the order, I even had 3 days once it was in my house to send it back. I brought my husband to the store the next day to show him the couch (which he loved!) and Mary, the sales manager greeted us. I kept talking about wanting a more goldish color and maybe I should just be patient and wait the 4-6 weeks instead of taking the grey. Mary was fantastic, she started digging a bit and realized a different gold color (similar to the one I wanted) was in stock and could be shipped the same day!! Not only was Mary a life saver, she was so so sweet and caring. To top it off, 2 days later I received an email that they were now doing free shipping on orders over $1,200. I immediately called the store to see if we would be able to get the promotion since we purchased two days ago, and to my surprise they had already credited back shipping! I will not be back to shop here. Everyone in the store was great and extremely helpful. It's the corporate team that makes me want to steer clear of this place. We ordered furniture for two rooms and one would think given the big purchase we would be treated as valued customers, not so much. Three of the pieces we ordered were damaged before they were even delivered to us. Haverty's seems to think that by replacing the items all is well. Despite explaining that this was the absolute minimum that should be done in this situation we have had little luck. Not only will we have to wait an additional 8-12 weeks for one of the replacement pieces we were offered a refund that was so small I also said "no thanks". We went to Haverty's to look at couches, bedroom sets, and dining tables. We were greeted by Rosemary who turned out to be the most pushy sales person ever. While we liked some of the products, we did not appreciate being followed around ever 10 feet, including when we exited the bathroom to see if we wanted to buy anything. It got so bad as we were out the door (literally with it opened), she even tried to sell something. I'm all about making an effort to sell, but when it becomes annoying, I am more likely to go somewhere else. read more

I was shocked by all the bad reviews, since Haverty's furnished my first apartment when I moved to VA back in 2005, and I had the greatest experience! Thing's change apparently, and after my visit today, I have to say I totally get their current poor reviews. I was greeted by a gruff, but fake pleasant woman upon entry. She shooed off another employee and told her to, "Get the next one." I knew what I wanted to look at, she hurriedly showed me where the couch was located. I sat down on it, and not even 3 seconds later she blurted "Well, you want it?" I asked her about another couch, which was no longer listed on their website; in her defense she did look it up for me, and they no longer carried it. Cool. I told her I really preferred leather, and was looking for a darker gray. (Which is what the couch she looked up for me was.) She suggested another couch, and rushed me over to it, that they carry in silver and also in black. She seemed annoyed, and even argued with me when I mentioned I thought the silver may be a bit too light for me, as I have a dog and cats, and preferred something a bit darker. She was VERY rude and said, "Well, you could wipe it down and clean it ... then it wouldn't be dirty." Seriously? I asked her the price for the love seat, instead of the couch ... she went to the computer where she proceeded to look up that information, while also engaging in conversation with her co-worker. She told me the price, how long the sale was good for ... I told her I'd think about it, and thanked her for her time. She immediately started talking about me to her co-worker, and how "Some days it's just not worth it to come in. You win some, and you lose some ... such a waste of my time." Seriously? I'm still right in front of you lady! My current place is very small, so furniture is a difficult purchase ... BUT, just because I inquired about a couch or love seat, does NOT mean that was all I was planning to buy. I also need bedroom furniture, a mattress and a few area rugs. Plus, I really liked the last couch, it was incredibly comfortable ... so the odds were high I'd be back after I decided whether the love seat or couch would be the better option for my space. Unfortunately the salesperson was a rude, condescending, argumentative witch ... I wouldn't purchase anything from Haverty's if my life depended on it. As I was walking out, I stopped to look at a few other pieces ... and a crowd of employees were lounging on the furniture just talking ... no one bothered to move, ask if I needed anything ... Store has nice stuff, sales folks hopeful. However, ridiculously poor supply chain and delivery capabilities. Bought stuff Jan 2 and not a thing being delivered until March 25. My receipt even says 3-5 weeks for custom orders which applies to my couch (that's almost a 3 month turn around) and my dining room set still on back order and no clue if that will even get delivered March 25. Of course none of these details shared with you up front because they want you to buy right away so be cautious. The store's name should be Have-NOT I certainly now Have-FRUSTRATION My experience here has been Awful!! I will never order from them again. From pieces being discontinued to not one, but THREE delivery screw-ups on the same order, this store is nightmare to deal with. Additionally, I found both the store manager and their 1-888 line to be extremely unhelpful and honestly on the verge of rude. For example, I told them I could take delivery on 1/11 but delivery had to be before 4pm. What time did they schedule it for? 4:30pm. When I called to let them know this was an issue, I was told they simply would not inconvenience other customers to accommodate my schedule.....Fair enough, but if they couldn't deliver when I told them I could be home then why not give me a different date to start with? Their demeanor with regard to customer service post-sale has been extremely poor. Now all the other dates are booked and I am waiting 11 days past my originally scheduled delivery date for my furniture. So sorry I veered away from Belfort this time. In my experience, they always do it right the first time. I still have not received my furniture from its originally scheduled date of 1/7 and the store has been absolutely useless in even trying to rectify the situation. My delivery is now supposed to arrive on 1/18...just fantastic. ANOTHER day I have to take off of work in hopes that what I spent thousands of dollars on will arrive. And of course, in order to make room for this, I already cleared out my old furniture so I am literally living out of boxes on the floor until this arrives. I've ordered from all of them and had very pleasant experiences. After a year and a half my motorized sofa started having problems and even though I bought the expensive insurance which covers any motor failures, the insurance company Guardsman and Havertys have refused to honor the insurance claim and fix the sofa, which is now almost completely unusable. Looking online it seems common that the insurance company regularly does not honor claims. read more

Couch and delivery guys were great! The salesperson and the atmosphere was a bit rude and on top of you. Liz the sales woman was awful. We had come in the day before to check out the sofa then came home to measure, back the next day and had the un-pleasure of dealing with Liz again. Liz was good except she kept forgetting our names and trying to tell me I was born in 1924 instead of 1982, very weird. Did I say Liz was good?! Well she was until we told her we did not the warranty then her mood completely changed. I must have heard about the silly warranty 10 times after that, I had done a little research beforehand and it appears to be hit or miss if they honor the warranty so I chose to pass. The rest of our purchasing experience was downhill then and Liz was completely rude. Also she forgot our "discount" when we refused the warranty which I had to keep reminding her. I have not received my furniture as of yet so I cannot soak about the delivery process but I can talk about the options, the quality and the customer service. The showroom is well organized, with all the prices visible. The furniture is good quality. While it may not meet the Amish standards, it definitely comes close. The furniture is more conservative, so the one thing I did not like is that they did not have modern bedroom sets. The sales associates are kind and friendly. Natalie worked with me and I just adore her. She was patient and was not pushy to make a sale. She was great to work with and I would go back to Harvetys just for her. read more
