Let me start by saying this is the most pleasant and understanding office personnel ever. They called me when I was late (the first time). I didn't get to explain that we had a sudden death of a church member and I was visiting the family. I apologized and just asked to reschedule. THEN I forgot the second appointment and they called to let me know I was late. I rushed over and they didn't make me wait to make a point. (Honestly, they probably need one of those text message appointment reminder systems.) PLUS, this was literally the most pleasant eye exam I have ever had. The optometrist was friendly, professional, and explained everything to me. They took pictures of my eyes and it was the coolest thing ever to see! I had made an appointment with Costco Kapolei and was not satisfied with the outcome. I would not recommend anyone to make an appointment for an eye appointment with a Dr. Wong at Costco Kapolei or a matter of anyone in this business Sween Optometry. The receptionist had to screen me before she would confirm the appointment on this day. Then told me they can file with my HMSA Advantage care and take my VSP, but I will need to pay the contact screening fee $145.00 plus tax and fitting fees for this visit. Think about this does that make sense??? My husband went to the Costco Waikele and they told him up from we will bill your insurance HMSA Advantage plan, so a bill will be sent to him. Called Costco Kapolei about 2 months before the appointment - the receptionist did not review any requirements. Not good :( read more

I was referred by a coworker to visit Sween Optometry and I'm glad I did. I had an appointment with Dr. Kent Visher who gave me a thorough eye examination. . Dr. Visher was amazing giving me options on contact usage and lens for my frames. I totally give the entire staff at Sween Optometry 5 Stars. Conveniently located in Costco Kopolei I live in Aina Haina it took me 55 minutes to get there but it was well worth it. I can say I have found my Optometrist and will return often. read more

Although the most recent eye doctor I have seen was great, I still had a little concern since I been having frequent migraines with auras and double vision. Unfortunately the doctor I had seen did not offer the latest technology of taking pictures of the inside of my eyes to see if there was a clot or any other problems. So I contacted Dr. Sween's Optometry and got an appointment right away. I didn't get the name of the sweet doctor who I had the appointment with but she deserves to be credited for the awesome service she gave me. Not only did she take the pictures of the inside of my eyes like I requested but she explained everything to me in details to ensure that all my concerns were addressed. I was in dire need of a re-evaluation of my vision and I was long overdue for an annual check up. I've been going to the same ophthalmologist in Hawaii Kai for years but when we moved to west Oahu, Hawaii Kai seems like a world away. I still maintain that going to an ophthalmologist is my preferred choice for vision care but if you're fairly healthy and no ongoing chronic issues with your vision, an optometrist would be ok. Sween Optometry is located inside Costco in Kapolei. Dr. Sween is an independent physician not working for Costco but has an office inside by the optical department. I had called ahead to see if they were taking walk ins and was politely told that it would be better to make an appointment as there would be know way they could tell how soon I would get in that day since they already had scheduled appointments and a few walk ins already. No problem. An appointment was made and two weeks couldn't come soon enough as I was truly struggling "seeing" with my old, prescribed lenses. I love Dr. Sween!! He's a bit OCD like myself (detail oriented, prompt and thorough) but I certainly don't mind that in an exam. It's hilarious that he has the same sock fetish as I do (but that's neither here or there). He's personable and easy to talk to as well as very accommodating when it comes to explaining things in layman terms. He did some baseline pictures of the back of my eyes as well as give me a thorough eye exam and compared it with my existing, old prescription. Wallah! Quite a significant change in vision since my last exam (oh...some 4-5 years ago). No wonder I couldn't see! Thanks to Dr. Sween, I can now change the font size on my cell phone to reflect my corrected vision. What a difference an updated and correct lens makes in vision! Dr. Sween's office takes insurance and will bill them for your as a courtesy. As a note, unlike many optometrist's offices, he does not carry frames and/or lenses for sale, instead you walk away with a prescription for lenses and/or contacts and you can either fulfill that prescription at the Coscto Optical/Vision counter (or your choice) where you can choose a new frame or have them replace the lenses on your existing frames. Sween Optometry was a great find and we'll definitely be coming back here for vision maintenance! read more

Dr Quiba is a patient and sweet lady who very clearly genuinely cares about her patients; she helped me get my glasses and contacts situated and helped me to find what I wanted (I wanted Dailies rather than monthlies because I don't intend to wear contacts every day, and she helped me get set up for Dailies). It is my understanding you don't need a Costco membership, so call his office to verify. I highly recommend Dr. Sween because of his "bed side manner." You will be treated as a person, not just a patient. The office is very small & tight, but the staff is friendly and professional. So I realize Dr. Sween has to see several patients a day; when he closes the door, he has his total focus on you. He explains your diagnosis and what will work best. i highly recommend this optometrist. it is located inside kapolei costco near the electronics. they also sell eyeglasses directly outside of the independent optometry clinic. they accept tricare (only had to pay $26 for eye photos) for military dependents! i was in and out in 20 minutes without having to dilate my eyes. they were extremely clean & covid conscious. read more

The office is super convenient because it's inside Costco Kapolei so you can get everything done there. The staff are amazing! They never make you wait for more than 5 minutes. They're super friendly, great customer service and know what they're talking about. One of the ladies was talking to me about my new insurance (which they don't accept there..dang aetna) and that even though my insurance won't cover my visit, the appointments aren't too pricey for out of pocket services. Also, I could probably make a claim to my insurance and get some of the money back for the visits. Then there's Dr. Sween! He's awesome! He takes his time with his patients and he makes sure that you have the right presciption that is suited for you. He even remembers you. Which is pretty good, considering he only sees you once a year! If you need an optometrist, Dr. Sween is your guy! I honestly have no words to describe their level of professionalism! read more

The doctor and the staff members explained everything they were going to do before they did it ( they knew I was a little afraid). 3. When your next to be seen, you get a text or phone call ( this gives you a chance to run to the bathroom, care for kids, eat a small snack, etc. 4. Dr. Sween is conveniently located in Costco Kapolei. As I don't currently have insurance, I was not able to go to my regular optometrist and needed to look for one who was "affordable." I spent about $119 after tax for an eye exam with contact fitting. I know depending on what contacts you need, the price may vary, but I'm near sighted, so this is to see at a distance. Not a bad price compared to the $250 quote I got from Lens Crafters. Both times I came in, I did have to wait significantly longer after my appointment time, so that's probably the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars. Other than that, he and his staff are very polite and friendly. Also glad that I didn't have to drive to the Queens POB where my regular eye doctor is. So saved on mileage and gas! :) I would return again for sure. read more
