OMG - I was not hungry, having just had lunch. My sister really wanted to try the Hainan Chicken so we stopped by. She couldn't decide between the Hainan Chicken and Rice or the Braised Pork Belly, so she got both and I said I would help her. It's the least I could do BEST HAINAN CHICKEN and Rice loves up to the hype! So tender and the ginger scallion is what makes this dish. The Braised Pork Belly was also tender and delicious. I'm sensitive to salt so I had to limit eating this. If you can only choose one, go for the Hainan Chicken! It was raining lightly so I appreciated that each of the food carts were covered and much of the seating areas were also covered. The food was ready pretty quickly. There's something quintessentially Portland about sitting outside in this rainy weather and the steam rising from your dishes as you open each meal.

Friendly service with excellent Hainan Chicken rice ! It wa nice to order a side of HK styled lemon tea to quench the heat.

Hawker Station has a limited menu, but it's the things they specialize in. Their top selling and most popular dish is Hainan Chicken Rice. Chicken is very soft and juicy. Portion size is standard. Comes with a few sauces (I'm just guessing on these): a ginger sauce with spring onion, some plum sauce, and some kind of medium level hot sauce. Overall it's a good dish - runs $15 I also tried their fried chicken skin. This dish was just ok for me. It was seasoned with salt and pepper but somewhat inconsistently. Some parts were salty some were more peppery. I would prefer that they used more flavors to season the fried skin.

Chicken winner, chicken dinner! Hawker Station is a food cart located in Lil America on Stark St serving Hong Kong and Singapore style chicken and rice dishes. We got the chicken and rice and it was delicious! The rice was fragrant from the chicken and the chicken was tender and juicy. The skin on the chicken added an extra fattiness, great for chicken skin lovers! The scallion and ginger sauce was fresh and aromatic, truly what Hainese chicken and rice are all about. We got a braised pork belly to go, and although I didn't get to try it, it looked good! They are generous with portion sizes and don't skimp out on the meat. Andy, the owner, runs specials frequently that he updates on Instagram. He definitely keeps things fresh and exciting at his food cart. With summer around the corner, it is food cart and patio season! Put Hawker Station on your summer food list, and you won't be disappointed!

Went there with family on 8/2, Friday. First time at the Hawker Station. We met the owner Andy. Pretty easy-going guy. Was very friendly and kind. We ordered 4 items, Hainan Chicken, Soy Sauce Chicken, braised Pork Belly and their Chicken Wings with fries. Andy also gave us free Lemon Ice Tea. That's was so cool. The food was outstanding. It was savory and fresh. I would definitely go back again. I think my fav is between the Braised Pork Belly and the Hainan Chicken.

Full disclosure, I know the owner. That being said, I visited for lunch on NYE and ordered the braised pork belly w/ a soft boiled soy sauce egg. The meat portion was great and the dish was enough for two meals for me. Friendly service, easy parking and nice outdoor covered seating. BIPOC owned and this food cart pod, Lil America will have all BIPOC and LGBTQIA owned carts. Great spot in inner SE to check out.

From all the chicken rice I've had in Portland, this is definitely my favorite. The chicken is juicy, and perfectly cooked. The broth from the cooked chicken is used to cook the rice, giving the rice more flavor. You are given a generous amount of chicken too. It's topped with some ginger scallion oil and a side of two sauces, sweet soy and a chili sauce. They also added in some cooked broccoli for some veggies on the side. During the weekends they have specials too, when I visited here they were serving cubed beef with red rice. Definitely tasted like shaking beef, it was really delicious. Beef was tender and rice was flavorful. They also service other dishes like soy sauce chicken rice, shredded chicken rice and wings. Overall, I really recommend the chicken rice they have and will come back again!

Delicious fried chicken with gravy. Yummmmmmm! Freshly fried so it was crispy and juicy.

I love this whole area. This was such an amazing place to have lunch. It's so well diverse and I appreciate and support it. I brought my son here for some 1:1 time. The service was friendly. The orange chicken is dry. The flavor was okay but the main thing it needed was more sauce. I think trying other things on their menu would have been such a hit. I am going to keep trying this place because I can see it's worth it. I still recommend it.

I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. Located in a strip mall on 82nd Ave in Montavilla, the restaurant doesn't have a lot of curb appeal, and the interior is just as bleak. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, this is some of the most delicious Chinese food I've ever ordered. Guests can order their meat with rice and veggies, or with noodle soup - both taste great! The interior is sparse with only several tables in the dining room, but I get the sense this restuarant prepares a lot of takeout. There were quite a few food delivery folks who picked up their orders while I was eating my dinner. The staff are friendly, but you honestly won't see them much. The kitchen is tucked away in the back behind a small ordering window, and the staff seem pretty occupied preparing to-go orders. It was fine with me... Tonkotsu Shoyu (4/5): A deeply comforting and classic bowl of ramen. The soft-boiled egg was perfectly yolky, but the dish would've been elevated even further with a slightly more generous serving of chashu pork. Tonkotsu Red (5/5): A unique variation for those who love a bit of heat. It shares the same chewy noodle and vegetable foundation as the Shoyu, but has a spicy broth that builds and ramps up the more you slurp. There's a certain kind of mistake that turns into a pilgrimage and like most good food stories,…read moremine started with bad directions and blind confidence. Somewhere between a Yelp recommendation and my own stubborn sense of direction, I managed to drive a full hour the wrong way chasing a Korean barbecue hot honey glaze that sounded like it had been whispered to me by the food gods themselves. What I found instead was disappointment on a paper plate bad signage, worse service, and a meal that tasted like it had given up long before I showed up. But here's the thing about chasing flavor: sometimes you've gotta get lost to earn it. Eventually, I made my way back correctly this time and landed at what can only be described as a modern-day food cart coliseum just off Powell and 82nd. Easy access, right off the road, no nonsense. You swing in, and boom you're there. No treasure map required. And what hits you first isn't just the smell of grilled meat and spices it's the design. This place is two stories of organized chaos done right. Clean lines, thoughtful layout, indoor seating for when Oregon decides to be Oregon, and outdoor space for when you want to sit in the sun with a cold drink and question your life choices over something deep-fried and glorious. This isn't Hillbilly Junction. Not even close. That place has its charm, sure but this? This is polished. Intentional. It's like someone took the soul of a street market and gave it a well-earned promotion. Now let's talk about the food the reason we're all here pretending we didn't just say we were "eating clean this week." That Korean barbecue chicken with the hot honey glaze? Worth every wrong turn, every mile, every ounce of regret from the first stop. Sweet, heat, smoke it hits like a good joke you didn't see coming. You take a bite, and suddenly you're not in a rush anymore. You're leaning on the table, nodding to yourself like, yeah... this is why we do this. And the variety? It's borderline dangerous. You walk through thinking you'll make a responsible decision, maybe something light, maybe something green and then five steps later you're holding something wrapped, fried, glazed, or all three. It's a mecca of bad decisions that somehow feel exactly right. And to be fair, if you're trying to behave, there are healthier options tucked in there too but let's not kid ourselves. Nobody comes here for restraint. There's something else, though. Something personal. Just a block or two away, my grandpa ran Tom's Auto Body on Powell Boulevard for decades. Built a name, built a reputation. So being back in this area it's more than just food. It's familiar ground, just dressed up a little nicer now. And I can't help but think he'd get a kick out of this place. Or at least appreciate the hustle. So here it is, plain and simple: Location? Five stars. You'd have to try to miss it. Value? Five stars. You get more than just a meal you get options, atmosphere, and a reason to come back. This place isn't just a stop it's a destination. And if you get lost on the way, well... you might just end up with a better story.
