Appeared that they were not interested in doing any new business. The owner Bob does not even bother returning calls or emails. Maybe they have too much work, but for courtesy sake should get back to customers. Not able to give accurate/honest measurement of area to be carpeted. The husband & wife team came over and measured the area to be carpeted. The price they charge includes installation with stairs costing extra. The formula to get the final cost is square feet x price of carpet (per square foot) + stairs + tax. When they gave me the total price the square footage number was wrong - higher. Mind you I know how there is scrap, consideration for the roll size, etc. However, taking that all into consideration their quote was well over 100 square feet to much. I measured and had two other carpet companies' measure. Haswe Abby gave me the wrong square footage. Was it a mistake or a technique to inflate the price? I called them back a second time and asked how their measurements could be so far off. The answer I got was, "that's what the computer says. We put the measurements in and it tells us." I would have to pay for extra carpet - or a higher price for the correct amount of carpet - if I did not do my homework. I would have at least one other company measure and quote before I would use Hawse Abbey. read more

I am writing this review because of how much I believe in Hawse Abbey Carpet of Simi Valley! I have used Hawse Abbey Carpet many times for major projects in my house as well as in my townhouse. We have known them through their work for over fourteen years. Bob Hawse is the only person I would trust to do anything in my house and townhouse. He is honest, fair, and very very experienced. He is always responsive when you need him. Bob's name is the first name I think of when something happens to the house or townhouse. I would never write a review unless I believed in someone as much as I believe in Bob Hawse. He has quality material! His woodfloors, his carpeting, his tiles are all of great quality and beautiful. His showroom is beautifully decorated with all his amazing material he carries. He redid my whole kitchen from A-Z, and he put in all new woodfloors on the first floor. At the same time my waterheater failed, Bob was the first one that I called to help me. He was over within the hour with a crew to take care of the matter. He KNOWS exactly what needs to be done and HOW things should get done. There prices are better than anyone I have researched(I over research so I know). He will tell you exactly how long the job will take and when it will be done. His crew is extremely polite and extremely clean. You would NEVER know that my first floor was underconstruction. He has a designer by the name of Jennifer Charles who without her I wouldn't have been able to complete the project. She had amazing ideas for the new kitchen. She was very friendly, very patient, and went over and above her job to help me with visual diagrams on the computor. She is a dream come true for a customer who wants advice, and doesn't know which way to go or where to go. She will tell you what is the new look and what is dated, and what new materials are out there. I was very hard to please and had a limited budget because of her and Bob I was able to get what I wanted on a budget. She is a wealth of knowledge and a perfectionist. Because of Bob and his very hard working, very clean crew I was able to have a new first floor. Donna Hawse is a very sweet and gentle woman who has the difficult job of collecting the money. She also gives great advice! She and Bob are the nicest and most genuine people I know who have owned there business for so many years and still have such a large clientele. They don't need to advertise because through word of mouth and repeat customers this should only tell you how reliable and excellent their service and quality of material are. You know their quality people because they have been married for 40 years so that should also tell you that there business is quality as well! read more

I live in the Valley and was looking for carpet in the Canoga/Chatsworth area. I even called Empire. I was dropping off my nephew, who lives in Simi, and thought I'd drop in. I met with Donna and took a few samples home. One was perfect. They were not the cheapest. I am in the trades myself and know what it takes to be the cheapest (I am not either), so Empire was off the checkslist. I asked Abbey to quantify what they mean when they say higher quality and they did. I agreed to do the deal. The upstairs carpet was installed 6 years ago by Empire. I clean it about every 6 months (I'm a clean freak). There is NO COMPARISON between the carpet Empire installed years ago and the carpet I just got with Abbey. The carpet is visibly better quality and the pad is miles better and when we got the Abbey room done, my husband first said, #$*t! Now we have to get the rest of the house redone! The carpet is that beautiful. We loved the service, love the carpet and are grateful for such apositive experience. The installer came up with one idea that was fantastic and which we incorparated, he's also an expert. We recommend them highly. read more

I work in the flooring industry, and have several connections for flooring and installation, but thought I would check this place out as it is in my community and I wanted to keep the business within. Long story short is their quote for flooring, supplies and installation was ridiculous! At least twice what it shoud have been. Again, I have an unfair advantage because I know what this stuff costs and what other installers charge, but the fees were out of control. Another turn off was that they wanted to charge me "shipping" on the flooring which was almost as much as the flooring itself. I won't get into the details about the shipping, but the source is not too far away down the freeway. I've heard they do good work, but get a few other quotes to make sure you're not getting ripped off on the price. read more

We were very pleased with everything Hawse Abbey Carpet did for us and our home. They had a wonderful selection in their showroom. The staff provided guidance in carpet quality, color selection and provided confidence regarding what it would cost, and how it would look, wear, and coordinate with our home. At every step we strongly felt the staff were working in our best interest. Their pricing was comparable to others. We looked at multiple flooring retailers and quotes, but Abbey Carpet's on-line ratings were highest, which influenced our selection. We are very happy we chose them. On the day of installation, the crew arrived on time, and worked quickly and efficiently all day to get the work done. Three weeks after they completed their installation, a pipe in our wall leaked (unrelated to their work). Bob, the store owner, immediately came to our home, advised us on what needed to be done to dry the carpet, and the drywall that was soaked, provided industrial fans, and helped us with everything. He told us that, in addition to flooring work, he was also a contractor and had people who could restore the damage. After the fans dried the new carpet, he sent his installers to install new padding, re-install the carpeting and provided a drywaller and a carpenter to repair four sections of drywall and baseboards that needed to be repaired. AFter a very long, emotional, and drawn-out escrow it's nice to work with people who actually care! I almost forgot the company's name because I got to know every person in the office by name. I've never received so much personal service. We had hardwood floors put in our master and downstairs and the floor looks amazing. Their prices are competitive, but that's not what stands out about this company. It's nice to feel taken care of in this crazy industry of pushy agents and lying brokers. Abbeys Carpet is amazing! We did a 203k program through our bank which was not the easiest program but they we're so patient and so helpful. The Ladies in the office were wonderful!! We were told our carpet would take 2 days to do, when the guy arrived he was very professional and finished our house in one day all alone. The carpet they sold us is unbelievable! We told them we needed the most stain resistant they had. He gave us some option and we picked the one he recommend. My kids have split grape juice, marinara sauce and chocolate on it and it comes up right away with little to no work. I would highly HIGHLY recommend them. I made the trip out to Simi Valley today because Hawse Abbey Carpet had such wonderful reviews on yelp. I only have my initial visit to base my review on but unfortunately I left the showroom feeling like a scolded child. Christine was helpful in pointing me in the direction of the type of carpet I was looking for but when I took a picture of the carpet I was interested in and the price list so that I could remember which one it was and how much it cost, one of the ladies in the office shook her head at me and gave me the same look I give my four year old when he's fighting with his brother. I looked at her confused and then the other woman in the office said in a stern voice, "we prefer you not take pictures of our price listing." They just left it at that. If that is their policy, the polite thing to do would be to offer to write down the name and price of the carpet I was interested in. Instead I was left standing there feeling like I just got my hand slapped. So, I left and went directly to Home Depot in Camarillo where surprisingly enough I experienced wonderful customer service. I would have preferred to support a local business with my $4,000 purchase. Perhaps I caught them on an off day but first impressions really make the sale. read more

I have used Abbey Carpet twice now, once two years ago for carpeting throughout our house. The customer service was amazing both in store, trying to pick the carpet and schedule the installation and then the two men that came out to instal the carpet. We recently moved into a new place and I wanted to change the flooring, I chose wood flooring for our whole downstairs and carpet for the upstairs bedrooms and hallway. Once again, I could not be happier with the customer service I received and the installation throughout the house. I am almost 9 months pregnant and with my husband working all day, the installers helped move around the heavier things as they were working. It only took 3 days to do the whole upstairs and down and everyday they left the house just as clean as when they first got here!
