If you didn't grow up around a farm this place is not for you. For an abattoir this place is really clean. The people are helpful. You need to be patient. People are working around equipment that can cut through meat and bone, it shouldn't be rushed for safety reasons. read more

Their smoked hams are one of the best we have ever had. Perfectly smoked and tender. It was a big hit for thanksgiving.

I bought 3 roosters and asked them to cut into pieces, but when I came home I saw that two of them were hens (there were eggs) and there was only one rooster (only one rooster head was there). I paid for 3 roosters, so they cheated $14.00 from me (hens are $7 cheaper than roosters). read more

First time here at Hayes farm to get fresh chicken. The service was not bad, processing area is very clean compare to other places that have gone to buy fresh farm chickens. It's very organized from letting the gentleman know which chicken you want, whether is brown or white, Turkey, goat, pig that u wanted and they'll get it put it in the giant crate or cage and write your name on a piece of duck tape and that's your crate until the processing is finished. "Hint" bring your own bags and coolers with ice, or u can buy bag for 25cents each. It would be nice to tips those guys for the hard work that they are doing for us. read more

I would give less than 1 star if I could. We have been going here for the last 17 years for fresh and organic meat. We will not got there from now on as we have found clean facility in Dallas. The the customer service is getting worse over the years. Most of the employees are straight up RUDE. The butchers especially one with earrings thinks he is a CEO of the farm. He acts like he is ready for fist fights anytime and with anyone. The facility itself is filthy and reeking with smell of rotting and decaying animals. This time, there was one employee attending chickens and he was yelling to his customers including me. I asked him 'why are you yelling? why are you MAD?'. He shut up and I was looking for a manager to complain. Then there is this aforesaid butcher who needs to get fired immediately and send packing. I really hope this facility would change its rude employees with friendly ones or shut down completely. read more

Heard a lot about this place....soo.. wanted oxtails and refused to go to Kroger.... we got about 40 to 45 pounds of oxtails for 80 bucks.. two bags full.... wasn't busy because went dueling the day in thE week in the rain lol so we wee in and out.. will likely go back to check out the prices for goat read more

Wasn't happy with this place at all. Disorganized, messy even for a meat processing plant & inhumane. Instead of just chopping poultry head off with cleaver in one swing or wringing their necks, the guy sawed through the live birds neck. Tossed them in an oversized washing machine drum with running water so feathers and skin flew out at you. The process for waiting or requesting certain cuts isn't explained. Told one processor no organs (didn't listen, he was too busy shooting coworkers with spray nozzle even though he told me ok). Told the next processor I only wanted the breast meat & he cut several into quarters before I told him again only breast meat. You are expected to rake all cut parts into a bag with your bare hands and no mask, gloves, apron, etc. Got blood on my face from saw. Paid over $60 to "process" 21 birds & will never go back. read more

I liked this place better back in the late '90's than I do today. I just made a trip over there and they tried charging me $6 a lb for goat meat. Wow. Back then you could go in the back and pick your own pieces, and they used to post a price list. There is no price list and they blurt out high prices. It is still as unsanitary as ever, and business appeared to be really slow. They've been in business for years and do not even have a valid website up. The counter lady doesn't trust you, so she marks all your bills. Everyone there speaks in Spanish. Some of the animals were treated badly, many of them are infected with skin diseases and breakouts and penned in very very tiny cages with no food or water. When he saw that I was about to walk out he lowered the price to about $4 a lb and put it in a Walmart bag. When I got it home there were a few live knat looking bugs in the bag. Also, after I boiled the goat I ended up throwing it away because I saw in the pot what looked to be WORMS coming out of the goat meat from the heat. With the sanitation issue and poor condition of the animals there, It didn't surprise me that the goat meat was infested w/worms. read more

This is an animal processing plant so don't expect it to smell like a rose garden. They hold animals in pens and (SHOCK!) the animals poop and pee in the pens and yes, you can smell it if the wind is blowing right. Inside, the place is well-lit, clean, well-staffed with butchers and their prices are great. I take my backyard chickens there to be processed. They kill, pluck, gut and pack them for only $2 each! Bring your own baggies if you want the meat put in baggies, otherwise, you may get plastic grocery store bags or something. Yes, most of the workers there are Hispanic but if you check, there is always someone on hand that can speak English. Be polite and if you know any Spanish at all, give it a go and my experience has been that they'll meet you more than half way. Most of the guys working the lines know SOME English. Don't let that scare you away. They also sell primal cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and goat. Again, this is NOT a grocery store, it's a slaughter house or in the old days, an "Abattoir." read more

Me and my buddy gave them shot couple days a go if they care about their business; the end up treating us real bad. Beside they don't listen or talk to you properly as a customer or they don't care about customer service at all. We spend over $1600 still they were ready or taking our money more than anything else. There are about three brothers working there but one is not any better than the other ones when it comes to customer service. What's funny I keep telling him I am here to get a bull but keep showing me a goats; they were pushing us to buy what they want us to buy not our choice. It has gotten more and more expensive and with most recent visit - it is very clear that they are on par, if not, more expensive than any grocery store. I needed to get 2 roosters processed and I took them here for the job. They did a great job. Friendly, efficient and great price. $2 a head on Thursday. I thought the plant was clean and didn't have any bad odors at all. I will be back for sure. read more

A perfect place to process ur poultry and rabbits. $2 each and they know what they are doing. U can watch them process ur animals. I went there last week to get a whole hog. I ONLY paid $1.70/lb!!! This was turnkey, out the door, ready to roast whole. Hispanic grocery stores charge $2.50 and up, and they were frozen. A butcher shop in Lewisville and Plano cost $4.50 and $4.89 respectively...and again, frozen. This is a farm, where you pick your animal out, and they slaughter it, gut it, and clean it right there in front of your eyes if you'd like to watch. It's a FARM people, where animals are raised, and humanely slaughtered, butchered, and made ready to eat. The SAME thing happens to meat and animals when you buy the end product at Kroger. GREAT prices, and my hog was killed, gutted, and in my truck in 30 minutes!! read more

After reading bad reviews, I decided to check it out myself today, August 15, 2013. I found the help and manager Juan friendly and helpful and they showed me around the facility, which was clean. The animal pens were clean also. They process animals for people coming in AND they have stock there for people who don't own their own stock. Their prices for what I wanted to do were more than reasonable. There was an inspector ON PREMISES while I was there. I'd be happy to use them for my needs. read more

I take our chickens and turkeys for processing since it is a USDA approved facility, and have no issues. They take care of the messy work for me, I take home and wrap for freezing. If you purchase chickens from them, you can pick out from their pens, staff is always courteous even though I speak no Spanish I can still do business and find plenty of employees that can speak english or understand what I need. Have been using Hayes for years. As far as cleanliness, the processing facilities are kept clean, I see them constantly washing it down. It is a slaughter house - so don't expect a meat counter at a grocery store. Majority of our business with them is bringing in our chickens or turkeys to process. If you do not bring your own bags, they do sell large plastic bags for a quarter or two. Yes, it does smell -but it is animal pens and a processing plant - not a flower shop. No worse than a sell pen. Be realistic about your expectations and you should be fine at Hayes. read more
