    Chocolate Peanut Butter Frappuccino
    Sean C.

On our way to my parents for the 2nd Thanksgiving lunch we noticed that Hays City Hideout was open (they opened about 4-6!weeks ago). So, naturally, a coffee for the road trip between Kyle and Marble Falls was warranted. For those who know the area... it's located across the street from Hays City Store. I was set to just get a coffee, but then I saw the Chocolate Peanut-butter Frappuccino... and I'm a huge Peanut-butter fan.... So I went for it. The person at the counter was really nice and helpful as my kiddos ordered their fancy lattes... even Christmas-ing one up with Peppermint sprinkles. The space is really small on the inside, but a nice outdoor area to hang out on if you're not in a hurry. They were friendly, fast and got the order right. The prices were really good (mine was a 20oz for $6). Oh... I highly recommend the drink I got. It was hella sweet... and tasty... and empty before we got to Johnson City. Come to find out the owner was the woman who took my order... very cool... Will be back. Probably every time we pass by, actually.

Toasted Marshmallows Latte with Heavy Cream & cute cow stopper.

Always looking to support local businesses in my neighborhood and a good local coffee shop is a must. Hays City Hideout is brand new and I've been waiting for what feels like forever for them to open. Today was the day! I tried a toasted marshmallow latte with heavy cream as my milk alternative. Coffee was rich and smooth. The heavy cream was a great choice adding to the creaminess of my drink. Staff is very friendly. Inside is small but has a clean and rustic vibe with some tidbits of the Hays City Hideout history. They have coloring pages and crayons for the kids. The outside has turf and ample seating to enjoy your coffee. There was also a dog bowl for your best bud incase they get thirsty. I'll definitely return and I hope to make HCH my favorite coffee spot in Kyle/Driftwood.

Stopped by and grabbed a sausage kolache, an iced large coffee, and a double hot latte for around $19, and it was a great experience! The kolache was warm and flavorful, the coffee was smooth and refreshing, and the latte was perfectly made with just the right balance of espresso and creaminess. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. Special shoutout to the person with the English accent--they were absolutely spectacular and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Definitely a solid spot for a quick breakfast or coffee run. I'll be back for sure!

The bathrooms are just spectacular here. I was greeted, seated, and waited on by a charming worker. Predictably, I ordered the Denver omelette because it's my go-to breakfast anytime it's available. It came out hot, complete, and with a beautiful presentation. The bell peppers were not as tasty as I'd hoped but the dynamite ham more than made up for it. The hash browns were okay but didn't really taste all that good. Not like the rest of the meal. The toast with butter and jam were top notch. I liked the substantial metal flatware and plates but wished the iced tea glasses could be larger. All in all it was just what I needed to face another day of work.

This place knows pancakes with four all the time specialty flavors (pineapple, strawberry, cinnamon…read moreroll and banana), one specialty (currently sticky toffee) and the basic buttermilk. While they claim to be a breakfast / brunch restaurant, all of the options I saw on the menu are breakfast options (no burgers, no salads, soups, sandwiches, etc ). So if you like endless variations on eggs and some creative pancakes / French toast this place is for you. If one or more in your party want something different, they may not feel very excited with the menu. They have quite an extensive menu beyond pancakes if that's not your thing. They have a specialty bacon that I really enjoyed with a stack of strawberry pancakes. The wife went with two eggs, two bacon, hashbrowns, substituted the sticky toffee pancake for the bread options. She thoroughly enjoyed the eggs, bacon and pancake. The hashbrowns were a bit of a miss. They tried to do something unique with the potatoes and they were not the right texture, being on the mushy side of things. Service was competent and prompt. The wife had decaf coffee and while it was quite good, our server could have been more attentive in keeping her cup full. The inside decor seemed unremarkable to me. With no partitions to speak of, it was louder than most places. On the positive side, it we clean, comfortable and well maintained. Definitely a place to return to when we are in the area looking for brunch.

I've been here twice in the past week so I guess you could say I like it here. For drinks, Mexican martinis and margaritas are perfect, not too strong and not too sweet. For food, I wasn't crazy for the birria tacos and wouldn't get them again, but everyone else in my group had delicious plates which is why I gave it another chance. Second time around I got the al pastor mini tacos. These by far are the best al pastor tacos I've had! So juicy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back and try something new.

Well my aunt (who is almost 70) didn't see on the menu it said charro beans was an up charge, refried beans came free. So when she got her bill she was surprised to see she was charged extra for the beans. Mind you the refried beans DID come with her tacos. Why did the waitress not ask "do you want the refried that comes with it or charro for an up charge?" Instead, the waitress automatically gave her charro beans. You don't automatically give someone the upgraded version to their meal and especially not without asking which kind of beans does she want. I'm writing this update bc in my last review the waitress did the same thing by up charging my husband's meal when he didn't ask to. BEWARE here! The food is pretty decent, nothing crazy but it hits the spot if you need some decent Mexican food. However, go over your bill and clarify everything-twice! Just in case because they will try to make extra money off upgrading you without asking you.

Everything was pretty delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The Catfish Beignets were perfectly crispy with a hint of sweetness, but nothing super special about them, just tasted like fried catfish to me. The Diablo Chicken Pasta was nice and saucy, but like the catfish beignets, was a bit bland so I needed some salt to up the flavors. The shrimp ceviche was very refreshing, delicious, and a solid appetizer that was packed with flavor. The Chicken Waffles was good as well. The chorizo gravy sauce that came with it, was different, but complimented the whole dish very well. Overall, the portion was a bit smaller than I'd like for the price that I paid, but the food was overall pretty delicious. Our server Michael was fantastic. Also, the shrimp tostada bites were killer - I could eat those all day. My wife's carajillo was perfect. OK: catfish beignets-the batter was well seasoned and crunchy, but it seemed like the actual fish needed seasoning as it was pretty bland. Grilled chicken sandwich was pretty bland too: the chicken was slightly dry and aside from the avocado, onion and tomato, there was not much flavor. Checked the buns to see if they were spread with an aoli but no, pretty dry. I thought Z Tejas was ok then and it's still ok and wouldn't be my first choice unless it's for happy hour where they have the shrimp tostadas on special.
