Awesome dinner spot in Plano. Met some business partners for dinner here while I was in town last week. It came highly recommended from some friends that live in Plano, and it didn't disappoint. The patio is awesome. We had a drink out there before being seated. FYI making a reservation is highly recommended here, especially if you have more than two in your party. The place is huge with an upstairs and downstairs bar. Cocktails are outstanding. We ordered several appetizers and they were all outstanding: Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Mini Elk Tacos, and Lump Crab Dip. I ordered the Pork Chop entree and wow! Not only was it the best pork chop I've ever had, but it was huge. I couldn't come close to eating it all. The atmosphere is top notch as well. Alright, y'all. If you haven't visited this restaurant yet, PLEASE DO. You will not be disappointed. I dined at this restaurant a couple of times now, and both experiences were wonderful. All of the food are great, but some of my favorite dishes are the elk tacos, mac and chess, and pork chop. If you are a meat lover, you seriously need to get the pork chop. I normally don't like pork chops because they can be very dry. However, this one is so tender and juicy. Big portion size too! The restaurant itself is massive. I think it's three stories high, both with indoor and outdoor seatings. You can get a view of the legacy hall outdoor stage if you get an outdoor seating. Service was phenomenal. Our waitress seemed like she genuinely loved to have a conversation with her customers. Haywire is a great spot for special occasions or even a casual date night. Really great Elk Tacos and Elk Queso & Chips. Really fantastic. The venue was really cool and bustling. The burger I got was pretty good, definitely better than most fast food, however, it's nothing to write home about. The kings of the show were definitely the tacos and queso, though. Also got the Mac & Cheese as a side, really good as well. Pretty much everything but the burger was fantastic. And that's the reason for the 4/5 score. read more

READ TO THE END...This is the second time I've been to Haystack with a party of more than 6. The service was incredibly poor. We were seated at the very last table in the back and I had to have my coat on when the heater next to us didn't work. Our server Reed was very nice however. he had no assistance. It took us 30 minutes just together our drink orders. This place does not service people of color well. They always seat you in the back. We walked past 3 tables to get to the very last table in the back...awful. Instead of sitting in silence I asked a server named Brad to get a manager. Brad did just that and return with Travis. When I tell you this manager made it right! He made sure our food came out within the next 5 minutes! He even served us himself. Before he came out, I had vowed never to return, but Travis made my brother's Birthday special again. The smile returned to his face! The food was well prepared and Travis made sure we had everything we needed! I want to personally thank him for representing what a good manager can accomplish under the most dire of circumstances. What a beautiful restaurant! This is easily an excellent choice to bring business clients, out of town guests, or even if you need a space to host a dinner party. The food is quite tasty and well thought out- handcrafted burgers, creative cocktails and savory appetizers are all winners here. I guarantee you one thing order the queso blanco and you will have a hard time being generous because you'll want it all to yourself! Sit at the bar and they will surely take care of you. This place gets busy but I am not sure I understand why. If you sit on the higher floor outside, watch out because it gets LOUD. They have live concerts at this venue and the tables face directly on to the stage. The staff is very nice so no complaints there. Menu is strange and all over the place. The food did not taste good. I don't know how else to say it but it didn't. Too much fried everything. If you love fried food, you may enjoy this more than me. But for the price point, I did not feel the value was matching up my expectations. read more

Both times, the downstairs host would tell us our table is ready and to go meet the upstairs host. Again, both times, the upstairs host would be confused and tell us that's it's not ready??? Fine, we waited for almost about another 10 mins. Finally seated but no waiter. About 15 mins in, we were finally greeted and given water. At this point we were afraid he wouldn't come back so we ordered the crab dip and onion rings for appetizers and our entrees. Our server disappeared after our dishes came out so service is a 2/5 for me. Overall food was ok, little salty for my taste. The only thing that made the crab dip was the hot, soft pita bread it came with. Onion rings were good, I enjoyed that for sure. I was feeling healthy so I ordered the pan seared gulf snapper! It was nicely pan seared, still moist when you bite into it. Although it was chile rubbed, I wished the seasoning had a little more kick to it to balance the saltiness. My favorite part of the dish was the chimichurri orzo! The limey flavor did help a bit to cut through the savory/saltiness of the dish. Everyone we talked to said we had to try Haywire. So we did. The chicken club seemed like a good lunch choice. My husband ordered the grilled cheese barbacoa with soup. The menu didn't prepare us for the level of enjoyment would have from mere sandwiches. If that had been our last meal on earth we would have died happy. These sandwiches haunt our dreams in the best possible way. In fact, I fell in love with Dallas while enjoying food from Whiskey Cake and Haywire. Both locations are owned by the same people. Our service was wonderful. Amazing food and drinks. I also ordered an old fashioned their signature drink and it was one of the best I've ever enjoyed. It was balanced. Walked in around 815 pm and the wait for 2 was about 45min-hour. But there was an open table on the patio (first come first serve) along with full dinner service! We were able to sit outside and enjoy a few appetizers on the patio on a Friday eve without waiting a second! Our waitress (Cassandra) was awesome- she informed made certain I knew how some of the apps were prepared since I'm vegetarian! Very thoughtful of her. From the minute he walked to our table, he flashed the most gorgeous, authentic smile! He helped us to orient to the style of the locally sourced ingredients and helped us to order. For starters, we had the chips, queso blaco, & warm salsa!!!! Delish!!!! For our brunch order, we had the AMAZING Texas brown butter pancakes with peach pecan compote (enough for 3 people)! We also had the ranch hand breakfast plate and added the goat cheese grits (MERCY)!!!!! Our tastebuds are still dancing! The biscuits included on the ranch hand breakfast had bacon and deliciousness baked right in for the ultimate taste! The eggs with cheese added were so good!!! It seems like the Front Burner Group can do no wrong - they own some of my favorite restaurants in the Dallas area and Haywire is another winner. We've been here for dinner a few times now and each experience has been great. First, let's talk about the space. It's HUGE! Lots of different seating options and I love that they have so many different types of spaces, both indoors and outdoors. I was looking on the website and I'm already planning on booking one of the semi-private areas for my husband's birthday later this year. We've gone for late dinners and it's always crowded and buzzing with energy. Great selection of drinks -- I LOVE the front porch swing! Super tasty cocktail that is stronger than you think. Totally snuck up on me while I was on my second one. Food is delicious and portion sizes are quite large - come hungry! For appetizers, I've enjoyed the Texas Meat & Cheese Board, Queso Blanco, and Mini Elk Tacos and would recommend all of them. For entrees, I've tried the Chicken Fried Steak (the jalapeno sausage gravy adds a great little kick), and the TX Whiskey BBQ Baby Back Ribs. Both are great but I personally preferred the ribs; fall-off-the-bone tender with fantastic flavor. It comes with some incredibly cheesy "mac'n chz" and amazing, buttery cornbread. I always want to try dessert but we still haven't managed to do so because I'm SO stuffed by the end of our meal! Service is good here as well - our servers have all been good (not outstanding, but nothing to complain about either). On our way out last time, my husband had a question about some of their whiskeys in the case downstairs, and he and the super friendly bartender ending up striking up a great conversation and exchanging recommendations for a while. Great spot for everything from a fun date night (if you're not trying to have a super intimate, serious conversation) to big group dinners. This restaurant is beautiful. The hosts, servers and bartenders were all so courteous and friendly when we were there. It's a fantastic use of space, we dined on the second floor. Haywire has a patio and a balcony. I love the balcony. And yes, they have sweet tea on their menu! Thank you Haywire. I think you are doing right by Texans. I ordered the Grilled meatloaf. It's so good. I substituted Brussels sprouts for one of my two sides. There is a $1.50 up charge if you substitute Brussels sprouts or asparagus. It's worth it. The entire experience was top notch. The design, the service, the food and the location. I will happily dine here again and again. Just so you know they seem to heavily promote the use of valet. There's a parking garage but it had a 3 hour time limit when we were there on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Haywire has always been amazing. I do recommend making a reservation or coming early in the week. Even though you do have to wait a little bit sometimes more than 20 minuets without a reservation they do get you in quickly and efficiently. I feel so bad you can tell the staff is very worried with getting you in as they are always busy! The ambiance is BEAUTIFUL, perfect setting for a date night or with family. Haywire does not disappoint. We sat on the open patio for this reservation and I was delightfully pleased to find the noise level was just fine. There was no live music below in at Legacy Hall so I am sure that helped, but the weather was perfection. For this date night we treated my parents who were in from out of town, knowing Haywire offers great food, great ambiance and stellar service - they did not disappoint. We all ordered drinks and they were wonderful (great full pours of wine & cocktails were just right). My mom and I split the black-eyed pea hummus and the mini elk tacos. We enjoyed every single bite and there was still food to spare. My dad and hubby chose the Angus Filet and the Bone-In Pork Chop. They were ooing and ahhing the entire meal. We all enjoyed our meal, the ambiance and the service. My parents were definitely impressed. OH and we couldn't pass up an order of the cornbread to share - it's like dessert! We love that Haywire takes reservations and has something for everyone. We enjoy the craft cocktails and the old school ones too. We came here on a Wednesday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We'd made reservations a few weeks in advance and told them about our special occasion. Unfortunately beyond the hostess mentioning our anniversary and setting a bottle with lights on our table, nothing more was said to us by our waitress or staff. And we were seated outside on the 2nd floor patio area where it was hot. I guess we were just hoping for it to be more for special than it was. That was disappointing since this was a splurge for us. Beyond that, the food was excellent, drinks were tasty, and the service was good. I had never heard of this place until a very dear friend of mine decided to have her birthday gathering here. We came here for brunch on a Saturday morning and we had a fairly large party of five of the 14 people. We did have reservations and they were ready for us when we arrived. The place is very impressive when you walk in. It is a very nice bar and seating area on the first floor and when you look around your wonder where all the people at? What I did not know is that this place is three stories tall. Most of the seating is on the second floor which is where our parties table was. When our server arrived I wondered how in the world she was going to handle a party our size especially since she had a few other large parties in her section as well. It was not a problem for her she was a champ the whole way through.As an appetizer I ordered the queso and chips. They were really delicious. For my main entrée I ordered a breakfast plate that included two eggs bacon and potatoes. It was pretty decent but I have had a lot better bacon.What really stood out to me as outstanding though was the couple bites I had of their grilled chicken breast. That my friends was a showstopper of a meal! I am not able to rate them on dessert, Because we brought our own cake for my birthday friend.
