This was our third visit to Haywire, and each visit got better and better. We had Henry as our server and it was probably some of the best service we ever had - he was personable and knowledgeable, and following his recommendations made this meal one of our top dining experiences! The pork belly appetizer was unexpected and amazing, every bite of the steak was cooked perfectly, the cocktails were perfect, and the bread pudding dessert was the cherry on top of a perfect night. I can't lie, I was skeptical coming here because of some Facebook reviews I was seeing upon opening. But over time, I saw the Yelp reviews looking pretty well! And when my friend said she was having her birthday dinner here, I thought here's my chance to see how it is! And holy moly is it was delicious!!! The redfish was 10 times better than I expected. The drinks were perfectly made. They even have a non alcoholic menu which is small, but super appreciated as someone that just did dry January! So many establishments don't take into account not everyone wants liquor or wine or beer lol. It was so beautiful inside with the chandeliers and everyone that waited on us, delivered our food, or just swung by to check in, were so nice and personable! The food and ambience were great, the only thing I would suggest to patrons is to check your receipts before paying. I made the mistake of not checking and noticed we were charged for the full priced Chicken n Waffle Meal twice instead of the two kids brunch prices. I think they finally found a restaurant that will last here in this location. The elk tacos were delightful and wonderfully curated with cilantro cream sauce, the spicy corn pico to cover the elk. The frozen margarita wasn't poured for profit, so very strong. I ordered the ribs and absolutely smoked to perfection with a perfect bbq glaze across them, and the bread pudding finish for dessert was amazing! Great spot for any type of mea! read more

Went here around 2:30pm for what we thought would be a nice pre-graduation meal. There were just three of us, yes I had a reservation. We did not have to wait when we arrived as they were not busy at that time. We were sat by the food prep area and waited several minutes for a server to greet us. There were several team members standing around talking and not doing much of anything. Which makes things worse later in this review. Finally a man came and introduced himself and asked for our drink order. We kept it simple, water and tea. We decided to order chips and queso for an appetizer, something you would think would be simple and fast. Well it took 30 minutes for that to come out. Meanwhile we watched a stack of onion rings be pushed around in the window . Then after about 15 minutes they were taken to a table. We watched two tables be sat after we were and they were both served appetizers and main meal before we received our chips and queso. We did not order things that took forever to cook for dinner: fish, ribs, and a burger. Food took another 30 minutes to get after we got the appetizer. And the burger was ordered with broccoli instead of fries. It came out on a plate by itself. And we were told it would be a few minutes on the broccoli. The other two dishes were barely warm and just not even worth taking home. While we ate a lady was setting up trays to be ran and she kept holding up her hand to signal someone to come run it. Several trays sat in the window for way too long. I feel like there is no team work at this place. And obviously no management to be seen. You would think with them being two weeks into opening they would want some feedback from the customers and they would go around and talk to tables. Well not here! I never saw a manager go talk to any table around us. I couldn't eat anything else after the glasses of water and chips and queso. I asked for a box. The server brought a box to package it up for me. He took it to a tray behind me. Otherwise I would have asked him about it when he did it. He boxed up my food with gloves on; messy ribs and Mac and cheese. I guess he touched the food because the outside of the box was covered in sauce. He just sat it down on our table and I didn't realize he had gotten the box so messy. I picked it up and had sauce all over me. Our server was nowhere to be found so I asked another server for a bag. He did get me on and I explained to him I was sorry if I was rude asking him for a bag for my dirty box but our whole experience was horrible. He didn't offer to get a manager, nor have any concern that a customer was not satisfied. This place is way over priced to have less than mediocre service and food. Granted this was the second week it was open but come on. I don't mind to pay more for good food and service but this place is just not worth it. read more

This place is amazing. Not only are they amazing, but their customer service is spectacular. We were seated by the door and my elderly dad was cold die the door opening continuously. Tonight I went out with my daughter and her friend for her birthday. We were having a good time until it was time for our food. The food took a long time to come out so we requested to speak to a manager. We spoke to a Hispanic manager, I can't really remember her name but it started with a J. Joanna or Joe She was extremely rude and pretty much blew us off like she didn't care. We asked to speak to another manager and no one stopped by. When the food came out everything went swell, but the rudeness and carelessness of the manager really threw off the whole experience. read more

We tried the new restaurant in La Cantera, Haywire. When we went they had been open 5 days. We got a reservation on Open Table and good thing, since it was packed. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were seated right away. We sat is a nice big crescent shared booth. We had five people and could have easily fit 7. There are beautiful chandeliers everywhere. They are cashless so know that before you go. There is no complimentary bread like you see at some other high end steak places. Prices are that of an expensive steakhouse. We got 2 bottles of wine, 1 drink, the combo appetizer and the cowboy feast and cost was around $100 per person. All food was good. My favorites were the elk tacos appetizer, the garlic stuffed filet steak, and the cucumber salad side. There are various rooms/areas and an upstairs that is not fully open yet. Overall, really good meal and atmosphere. Good for special occasions since on higher cost end. The service was good and the ambience was cool. However, the food was nothing to rave about. I got the 16oz prime rib and a little less than half of it was straight fat- probably 4-5oz. Green beans were very undercooked. Lovely waitress, but she was sadly affected by the 25min ticket time for our drinks that came out the same time our meal did- regardless of ordering them with the appetizers.... Had a great Friday afternoon happy hour lunch with my wife. Since retiring from Military service we have enjoyed trying new spots for a relaxed lunch. Let me start off by saying this place will make it way on our list for a second visit. We started off with Happy Hour drinks which did not disappoint. As we ordered a second round of the Frozen Margaritas. They are not on the level of Pappacitos, but are still very tasty. For our meal, I got the Hot Chicken Sandwich which was pleasant and had plenty of flavor with the special sauce. My wife got the 6oz fillet with Mac&cheese. We normally order steaks medium. Our only concern with the whole meal was the steak came out rare, but was a think steak so it's understandably a hard item to cook. After a quick return to the kitchen and a visit by the manager we were back on track. The waiter Author did a great job work a few different tables giving each of us the attention that we needed. The restaurant was very clean and met the expectations of a renovated restaurant in the area. Once again, I would recommend this place. Lots of batter, my children got chicken fried chicken, same thing, more batter than chicken. The mashed potatoes were cold. We told the server, they went and got fresh new mashed potatoes that were just as cold as the original ones. My son got the ribs, hey were overcooked and dry. This guy was focused on the single girls across the bar and never asked them for their cards. I also saw him pick up a piece of ice and put it in a glass for a drink gross. Then, the food was just okay. We had the onion rings and pork belly bites that took forever and were just an average. My margarita was too spicy to finish. That's all I have to say about this place. Beautiful restaurant. Hubby ordered an old fashioned- no orange or cherry. I ordered the front porch swing- very tart. Food was average. It was my birthday so I ordered the chocolate cake- just ok, not very fresh tasting. At the end of our meal, the server asked if he could take my empty glass and I replied yes, he also took my husbands without asking, he was not done with his as he was sipping it- we were talking and didn't realize he had taken it.
