This is our second time here as its been year's since we last came. Last visit was a big family affair as we have family in-town. My husband opted for BBQ and this is what he picked. Service: the guy who served our table was prompt and courteous. Food: the ribs, which is what my husband and girl's ordered, fell off the bone and they seemed to like their meal. My son had a wicked brisket and said "it was good!", which is a a plus. I had the beef brisket salad on the greens and while it was good I'd suggest they should scale back on the shredded cheddar, which is my only complaint since there was far too much and overpowered the taste. If you like bone dry, tasteless brisket with a side of surly checkout folks, you're in luck! Bought a half pound of brisket (I specified a fatty cut) and my wife got a brisket sandwich (upgraded side to sweet potato tots from fries for an extra $1) - at least on the menu. My very thin sliced brisket (who does that?) did have a tiny little bit of fat (as well as a gang of big, ugly veins most places cut out,) but it was attached to shoe leather. My wife's sandwich was equally dry and unseasoned, but those tots were pretty good, so that's something? It was a pay at the counter place, so when I pointed out they had made a mistake and charged $2 for the tot upgrade, I got a "Oh, that's a typo on the menu" in response. Yeah, until you print new menus, fix it please. That entailed a wait for a more senior person, who treated me like I was stealing from them because I expected not to lied to. The server was polite. Look, I'm not expecting every BBQ joint to be JD's Smokehouse in Rutherford College, NC. That place is the holy grail. I do expect a little pride and effort from a small town BBQ, and maybe not a shakedown at the register. Still searching for a passable joint in this area, but I'm 3-0 so far. Brisket was a very small portion (3 pieces) and dry as shoe leather, not to mention it was cold. I've seen deli lunch meat sliced thicker. The two sides were in shot glass sized containers. Texas toast was tuff and chewy. What used to be a good BBQ place has slipped drastically over the years. read more

Probably the worst meal I've had! Everything was dry and tasteless, ribs, baked beans. Onion loaf was a ball of grease. Yuck!

Service was good, but food was mid at best. Fried chicken sandwich liked a very thin piece of fried fish. B/c it was so thin, it was chewy and way overcooked. The baby back ribs were dry and over cooked. The homemade mac-n-cheese was decent. The Brunswick stew looked great, but unfortunately was terrible. The pulled pork was just ok...very little flavor. Fat Buddies is located in an old shopping center building, and is a favorite of locals. They always seem to be busy. The owner is great, very involved in the community, and helpful with groups who utilize the restaurant for meetings. I do wish they were more aware of, and educated about, food sensitivities. I have ordered salads with No croutons several times, and had the salad delivered With croutons. Because I have a severe intolerance to gluten, this is a problem. Food was subpar I got the 1/2 rack of pork ribs and the meat was dry the Mac n cheese tasted off, my husband got the pulled pork sandwich plate with baked beans and fried okra. Passing through and stopped for Bar B Que. we were seated and there was literally not one customer in the ten tables behind us when we ordered. Five tables came in during the next 15 - 20 min after we got our drinks and were seated at those tables. After another 15 - 20 min those tables started getting food. We had to ask another waitress to please check on our food because we ordered before all of these people. Finally got our food at about 40 min in. The brisket on my plate was way overcooked, fatty, and dry. Maybe the worst I've ever had. I'm from Texas and know my brisket! My wife had a stuffed potato and it was undercooked and hard in places. Came in for lunch today was very dissatisfied. I had be coming occasionally for years but the food quality here has really gotten bad. I ordered a pulled pork platter which came out like a baked and corse chopped and sliced pieces mess with no flavor. I asked about it and was told that was what they called pulled pork. First time eating here. Huge selection of food to pick from on the menu. We ended up getting the meal that is made for two, I would say it's a meal for three. It comes with six sides and a full rack of ribs along with some other meats. The server was friendly and prompt. Multiple sauces for you to try out. Asked a few men in a Hardee's this morning if I was only going to be in Franklin, NC for one day, where should I go for supper. They said Fat Buddies Ribs & BBQ. We were not disappointed. The service was good and the decor was cool with the race car theme. The ribs were great. However I ordered the veg. of the day which was wood fired creamed corn when they brought it they substituted some other corn which didn't look real appetizing so instead I got okra. This restaurant is in a strip mall so at first we were not sure, but i am glad we decided to stop in! We started off with Bottle Caps , which is fried jalapeno slices served with a spicy ranch dip .. I could make a meal off of these !! they were wonderful . My entre was the smoked turkey salad , perfect crisp lettuce with all the salad toppings then lots of thinly smoked turkey , perfectly smoked but not dry. My husband got the ribs and brisket and there was nothing left on his plate, so i an pretty sure it was amazing as well . When we arrived there was about a 15 minute wait, they were short staffed, our server said that 3 people called out that day . The Franklin one used to be good but the last time we got takeout there the chicken was burned and tasteless and dry.

I am on a carnivore diet and they are the place to eat. I thought that the brisket was good but the ribs actually stole the show. It was cooked perfectly and with a tiny tug, completely released from the bone. Brisket could use a little more flavor but a great meal. read more

The food from Fat Buddies was incredible! We had ribs, pulled pork, chicken, chicken tenders, mac and cheese, baked beans and iced tea. Everything was hot, juicy, and so flavorful. The three different sauces, all mouth watering, were the best, and no one could get enough of them. As I was planning for this Fourth of July party, Clint stayed in touch with me, making sure we ordered all that we needed. He was truly convincing when he said that we would love the food from Fat Buddies! He was absolutely correct! The food was pretty good. We called in a pick-up order, and they left out 3 out of 9 dishes. My wife and another friend went in when the order was ready, and while they were respectful and patient, the crowd decided the fact that she looked like she wasn't from around there was enough to laugh about - as in, multiple groups waiting and dining.
