Bloody mary

We went for a late lunch and i'm glad we did! I had been wanting to try this place because of the reviews. We had a great time. The food was good, service was good, very relaxed atmosphere with t vs to watch the game and comfortable seating. I can't wait to go back and try their chicken marsala and their happy hour choices for food and drinks. We ordered the korean wings half order and added on a side of fries for only two dollars and it was a very large serving of fries. Both were delicious and I swear those are the best fries i've ever had!!! The wings were crispy and yummy, and the korean sauce was a little bit spicy and sweet. We also ordered the lettuce chicken wraps with peanut sauce, very good and a very large serving. The Bloody Mary was good and strong. I did ask them to add a celery stick and some bacon and they were happy to do so.

Of course I wanted to try this place out ASAP. It wasn't too packed which is crazy but we got right in. Our waitress was not friendly, like at all. She wasn't personable and was straight to the point. I got the fish tacos and they were ok. I was happy to see they used golden corn tortillas and the fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. I just wish they'd have used long skinnier pieces than chunks. I really liked the pickled onions that came with the tacos as well. I substituted a side salad for the rice but got the rice anyway. I told them of their mistake and was quickly brought the salad but no dressing. I asked several times for ranch and never got it. The hubby got the nachos and said they were good. He liked the chips saying that they were homemade which was a nice twist. My daughter enjoyed the fish and chips. Overall this place suffers from just being new and working through some kinks. We'll come back and give it another try in a couple of months.

Garlic beef noodles. Hubby liked them. Good char on the beef.

We stopped in for a midweek lunch and had the place mostly to ourselves. It's a large dining room with lots of tables and lots of TVs, but the sets weren't turned up loud. We had the artichoke and brie appetizer, beef garlic noodles, and Greek tacos. Everything was pretty good but could do with little tweaks to make it very good, which might just be personal preference. Service was good, friendly but not hovering. We will probably go back to try more appetizers and some cocktails from their menu, which sounded interesting.

The food here is great but I had a pretty bad experience for my first time which is why I have rated it two stars because that experience was not worth coming back. I do believe this could have been because this restaurant had just opened and it was their first weekend open, however I do feel like they should have been more prepared. First we get there and it took them about 10 minutes to acknowledge us standing near the hostess table even though there were about 5 different staff standing together. Then we get seated and they do let us know that it will be about 15 minutes before they can take our order because of how backed up they are. Which was understandable. However this is where it went wrong, it took them an hour for them to take our order for food despite us checking in, and seeing other people who came in after us get their orders in, and then another hour to actually get our food and again seeing other people who came in after us getting their food. And despite getting our drinks comped for the wait we still paid $40 not including tip for just two appetizers and a shake. Crazy!!!! I have never had this bad of an experience at a restaurant and being new is not an excuse. They did tell us that one of their cooks had walked out which is why it was taking so long, however they didn't tell us this in the beginning. If they had we would have left and come back another day to try it again. But this experience was not okay, and I definitely will not be coming back.

This is the second time visiting HQ bar & eatery, and both times everything was good. The service is great they are very friendly. The food is good and I just love the relaxed vibe of the place. Not to loud and always able to get a comfy both. If you haven't been here you should come give it a try. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

Well... All I can say went on a Monday night was pretty empty when we got there . It wasn't because the food was bad it was on point . The calamari was on point and the mac and cheese man wow!! It's start getting a little busier when we sat down plenty of TVs to watch full bar they did a good job transforming it from Brooklyn's BBQ back in the day to what it is now real nice what they did to it remodeling and redoing it My girl got the fish and chips. And they give you a lot of it The macaroni and cheese was on point had bacon bits on it and very very creamy. Of course they have happy hour menu a lot to choose from. Well definitely go back highly recommended

We've been here a couple of times and really enjoy the food and the staff. The ambience is average-nothing that stands out good or bad. The first time (at night) the food was perfect. Came back for lunch and the time the food wasn't as good. I would recommend to go at night (drinks are amazing) but skip it during the day.

Fried artichoke and Brie appetizer

We were so excited to try this place out, love to support local businesses over chains. The reviews were so high I guess my expectations might've been too high as well. The positives! Good location, loved the decor, and ambiance. Service was also great super attentive and kind! The cons! Very expensive for the quality. Especially the kids meals. Chicken strips were $8 then you had to pay $2 to have fries and $4 for a kids drink. $14 kids meal is WILD! We ordered the fried artichokes with "brie" cheese and I was so excited it sounded delicious! Whatever cheese they used was not brie it reminded me of cheap white cheese you sometimes get on nachos. My espresso martini was disappointing. Husband got the fuego burger and said it was just okay. I had the clam chowder bread bowl and it came out in a flat sourdough loaf that was no where near a bowl shape and maybe a cup of soup in it if that. Soup was very good though! Overall the price and quality just do not line up, bummed with our experience.

Açaí bowl
Shandy G.

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was incredible, everything I tried was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were comforting and flavorful, the açaí bowl was fresh and vibrant, and the Bloody Mary had the perfect kick and tasted so fresh. The service was also on point, friendly, attentive, and at times, our server even went above and beyond. I'll definitely be coming back. The restaurant is clean and uplifted from its predecessor Brooklyn's barbecue but has an overall cozy feel.

Nachos with Shrimp

Nice tucked away spot in the La Caretta parking lot. The place is set up nice with a patio and tv's. Really like the chill vibe. It was Saturday night and not busy at all. Good music not too loud. The drinks were 100% fire. Well made old fashioned with the right cherries and square cube. The martini and michelada were also bomb. Oh and I recommend the "green Tea" drink. Very good. Now the food. Calamari was over fried and VERY rubbery. Obviously out of the freezer box and to your plate with no real care. The lettuce wraps.... Y'all need to do a little better. First you have to build them yourself if you see from the photos the chicken was pretty plain. The overall taste was decent but very messy and a pain to eat. Maybe do a little more with the chicken. The nachos with shrimp were decent. I'd order with chicken next time. Overall I really liked the vibe. The drinks were VERY GOOD. The food though.... Probably needs a little rethinking. I'll definitely be back.

Lava cake, I didn't like it much, friends liked it

I was really NOT looking forward to eating here. After looking at yelp pics I thought the food looked awful! But it was so good! I was so wrong! We had several menu items so I feel we got a good idea of the food. Mostly appetizers. We had pretzels with dipping sauces-yum! I think it was the wing sauce we didn't like, but the other 3 were great and more than enough. We had the fried artichokes with the brie. It wasn't a large portion, but we did split it with multiple people. I really enjoyed it and would've eaten more. Buffalo chicken flatbread was also good and the tuna lettuce wrapped looked less than appealing when it arrived at the table, but I did enjoy the flavors! It was satisfying. I do wish they had served it with more of the cabbage. My friend got the Greek tacos, big portion! He said they were good. Our server was so friendly and the food came out fast! Drinks took a while. In fact, I waited more than 10min for a glass of wine beyond when my friends received their drinks. It was nice with a large open area and clean. There were several large tvs, thankfully they weren't too distracting.

We've been wanting to branch out and find another bar to hang at and decided to give this place a try. I'd been here years ago when it was Shamrocks and had a fun night with friends, but only once and never again. So when he brought me here I was down. The security guy was cool and not one of those meat heads that have zero personality so that was a great first impression. The place is pretty big with most of the space being a stage with a lot of lighting and equipment. There's also a nice sauce dance floor and plenty of tables and chairs spread throughout. They have tv's playing videos for whatever music is playing at the time with a ticker at the bottom of the screen informing you of their weekly schedule. They have an edm night, a Latin night and even a karaoke night which, just our luck was the night we went! The karaoke setup was nice and convenient with you being able to scan a QR code to get access to their song list and setting up your turn from your phone. The bartenders were quick and friendly enough, getting through orders and continuing to make drinks for everyone. I've already told a few friends that we will have to come back and actually get on stage to sing next time.

Even the manager came up and introduced herself and we had a nice chat. Smaller space than most bars but that is fine as for now, this place does not seem to get very busy. Even though happy hour runs late! The prices for drinks were more than affordable but nothing fancy. Your moscow mule for example will come just in a regular glass (darn thieves!) and not the slick, proper, copper mug that will keep your drink colder for longer. Again, think Denny's. Also tried a simple vodka drink and a margarita. They were fine. We went on a Fri night I think at 9pm when surprisingly, karaoke started. THIS was interesting. I was excited as it was listed as 80's night but as the night went on, 'anything goes' was the rule. It was fun but the same people went up over and over again trying to get their big break! They were having fun with it - we just decided to leave when the foul, crappy hip hop came on. The mood had shifted. There are booths, high tops and you can eat from the regular Denny's menu. We did not eat but what was recommended to us by staff were the burgers and skillets for next time. To sum up - this is a very casual spot to bring some friends and have drinks on the cheap with friendly service. And a diner menu if you are hungry that serves late into the night.

Kinda of a hidden quaint little place. Could be a good hideout - Just saying. They have a great…read moreselection of whiskeys that vary in all price ranges. Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.
