Chimichanga was amazing. Rice was cooked great. Salad was absolutely pathetic. Tacos surprisingly had a lot of meat in them. Biscuit was hard as a rock, could barely only eat half. Country fried steak was ok. Bland fries, we added seasoning to them when we got home. Boring green beans that were over cooked, some were hard. This is our local favorite place for breakfast. Food is always good and a nice variety. Servers are always friendly even though they are busy. Strongly recommend for breakfast, brunch haven't tried lunch or dinner yet but quality of food is there. read more

Anyone else hear all the noise last night from their 70th Anniversary mess over there at Headquarters Cafe?......blaring music from 5pm all the way 'til 2:00am.......??? Who thought this was a good idea?? All it did was disturb the peace and violate the city noise ordinance, not to mention annoy thousands of people. This place should be ashamed of themselves. Per police they had a TON of complaints. This just shows how little this place thinks of the people living here, having to listen to some IDIOT yelling and screaming over a loud-speaker until the wee hours.......DISGUSTING. They offer water refills for any size container. They also sell containers and replacement caps, fast fill for the 5 gallons! This is also an ice cream shop and candy shop so you can get a cone while you fill your water jug! They provide carts for your containers to take full containers to the car. Easy parking, located near Bashas. Nice staff. read more

Food was ok. The cheese on my burger wasn't melted and that was a little off putting. But overall a good burger. The service was great, our waitress paid great attention to us and answered any questions we had. The bathroom was interesting... the women's was closed, had to use the men's and oh my the signs!! Signs to not flush toilet paper down the toilet and a lecture on what happens. That's a pretty basic habit we have, probably need to get the plumbing fixed instead of posting tacky signs all over. I felt like I was getting yelled at while in there. Interesting, to say the least. Not sure if I'd go back. Very aged look and feel. read more

Trying a new spot for us. Restaurant has been around for years, John Wayne is rumored to have eaten here. Had the machaca tacos. Shells were crispy, warm and meat was great. Generous portion of rice and beans. We enjoyed the visit and will look forward to going back. read more

I'm so confused on the good reviews. This place was terrible. All the food was bland, very low quality and/or canned. The menu seems a hodgepodge mix of things. Our server forgot about us and never refilled our drinks. The restaurant itself felt dirty and it was so dark in there. Our table and seats were sticky. Had you ever walked into a place where you feel like you are not wanted? I mean I felt the difference of how the waitress was treating us and how she was treating other patrons. It was our first time there because we wanted to support our local businesses. Food took longer but we understand but being treated like they dont need our business was just weird. We decided to try the headquarters café this morning. We rode the bike down to try the breakfast. We both ordered ham and cheese omelette I ordered it with English muffin Noreen ordered it with toast. My omelette was cooked just the way I like it English muffins were buttered. Noreen's omelette was good but the toast was not barely buttered.All in all it wasn't a bad experience will probably come back to try the Mexican food which is highly rated. The service was good and the restaurant has an interesting ambience.The bill was $25 which I don't think is bad for this area. read more

This is our first time here. Cute little restaurant located in down Maricopa. Nothing fancy, but the food is fresh and delicious and the portions are huge. We walked into a packed restaurant which is always a good sign. We left stuffed. If your looking for atmosphere this is not your place. Been coming here for 12 years. Great experience every single time. Kids love it. I do as well. My folks go there after church every week since they moved here about 9 years ago. I wandered down this way from Phoenix and stopped off here for breakfast. Outside this has the appearance of a quaint roadside diner, but the experience inside was awesome. I had a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage. The server was friendly and efficient. The coffee was great as was the food. I'm so embarrassed to say but this place is racist or allows the behavior. My family has been coming here since 2004 and this has been the first time I've seen a black person working there. This server started off a little iffy but we understood he was new! After about a month in this guy is basically running double circles around these workers who have been here! Last week my husband and I came in and he wasn't here; we were a little bummed because "back to the regular service!" As we're eating I hear some racist remarks made by the servers; I mean I can actually hear them talking as if they didn't have some where else to gossip but instead in-front of us customers basically! Let me remind you... the food here is beyond amazing but the service is ASS. Last Tuesday morning for example, plates were just sitting on that counter they get the food from for 3-5 minutes I'm sure were getting cold and those plates were piled. The server was very hectic and needed to just communicate with everyone better instead of getting all riled up. We used to have Michelle on Tuesdays and then the new guy server started working Tuesdays and surprisingly he kept up with how Michelle handled us. My husband doesn't give many people the time of day but this kid got "thank yous" from him and that's not my husband. Him and Michelle both were so good at checking in talking to everyone in the restaurant..I've seen some of these women grow in here some from sweethearts to "we've been here forever and we're always right" I hated watching some of these servers grow into that! Thanks for adding Door Dash!! My husband and I have both been sick and didn't want to cook or stop for pick up after work. I searched for places in Maricopa who have delivery and was pleasantly surprised to see Headquarters. We ordered good ol' American comfort food on Door Dash and it was at our door faster than any local pizza delivery. The delivery was free as they are doing introductory specials. If you are looking for good breakfast food this is your place!! We both had chicken fried steak, eggs and hash browns and the chicken fried steak was the absolute best we have ever had. It was not super breaded and the steak was so soft and tender. The gravy had a wonderful flavor and eggs were done just perfect! Will definitely be back before we leave back to Seattle! read more

This was one of the few restaurants in Maricopa prior to the residential boom after 2002. It has a small parking lot and is located on the main drag on John Wayne Parkway/ Highway 347/ Maricopa Road. It has a very small parking lot adjacent to the Dairy Queen/Shell gas station. Inside you will find walls of booths, and it used to get busy during the lunch and dinner crowds. Now that Maricopa has built up other restaurants, it doesn't get quite so busy. Their menu consists of everything from Mexican food to burgers. The tacos were a bit greasy, but gooood. It is said that appearances can be deceiving, but in the HQ's case which looks like a dive - the appearance fits as it really is a dive. But don't expect to see Guy Fieri's convertible parked outside as the food is so bland that even I could cook better - and I was rejected from being a contestant on Worst Cooks in America. Service. Wow! For folks that depend on a substantial portion of their income from tips they sure didn't seem to care. They all seem beaten down and wanting to be any place but there. Our server never checked back and never brought our check. Food. Supposedly they have good Mexican food, but Taco Bell is MUCH BETTER! Both of our dishes were very bland, and the salsa was only fair. Quaint little local spot. It's older and definitely a bit rundown but atmospheric in a fun way. The old plumbing in the bathroom does smell so be prepared for that. Services was friendly. My Mom and I split an omelet. They were very patient with weird special orders (my mom and I don't like the same omelet ingredients so we asked for some ingredients on the side). The omelet was good, as were the biscuits biscuits and gravy. My husband enjoyed everything on the carne asada plate very much. The chips and salsa at the table were okay. The food is decent, with both a passable Mexican menu and a better "American" menu. The prices are reasonable, and the facility/location is pretty much the only decent thing about the otherwise stabby "Heritage District". The old school force is strong in this one. The service is awful, though, especially if you have no "old Maricopa" in you. The place is understaffed, and the staff often seems inconvenienced by your mere presence. We've given this place numerous chances (wanting to have a great local place to bring visitors), but been disappointed one too many times. This place has tons of potential though, if they can get their act together. read more
