I purchased my Health Mate Sauna 3 years ago. Every year the controller breaks and I wait months for a replacement. The last time I called in for a replacement panel which is under its lifetime warranty, I was told I might wait up to eight months for a replacement panel. This was after many phone calls and many emails. My last email was more aggressive. I stated that they either get back to me immediately or I would escalate this into a court action. Only then did I get a call back and only then was I told I would wait eight months. It took me two months just to get a callback. I would not recommend purchasing anything from this company. Their customer service is terrible!

I've been to a lot of Korean spas across LA and Orange County like Century, Wi, and Crystal, so I know what to expect. A friend recommended this one and I thought it'd be fun to try something new, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The only reason I'm even giving it two stars is because of the owner, Mr. Kim. He greeted me at the front, was very polite, and took time to explain everything even though I already knew how these spas work. His friendliness stood out, but that was the only positive part of my visit. Parking was easy and free, which was nice, and I got a spot right in front. The spa is inside a small indoor plaza that feels more like an outdated mini mall than a wellness spot, and the entrance is confusing. Once inside, everything felt cramped and outdated. The cold plunge and jacuzzi were ridiculously small, maybe two and a half feet deep, and you could barely fit two people without bumping elbows. The jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, the cold plunge wasn't cold at all, and the overall atmosphere didn't feel clean or rejuvenating. The amenities were just way below what you'd expect from a Korean spa. The sauna said 173 degrees but I sat there for over twenty minutes and didn't sweat once. The steam room was the opposite, dangerously hot. The steam comes out directly from a vent near the bottom, and if you're sitting anywhere close to it, it literally burns your legs. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's unsafe. Even sitting higher up, I had to constantly scoot away because of how intense the bursts of steam were. That should absolutely be fixed because it's a serious safety hazard. On top of that, the jacuzzi and cold plunge both had warning signs taped on the railings that said things like "Be careful, this is not strong, do not shake." That alone made me feel uneasy. If the metal railings aren't sturdy enough to lean on, they shouldn't be in use. It's something so simple to fix, and I don't understand how they're operating without addressing it. The common area wasn't comfortable either. There were a few massage chairs that you had to pay extra for and no real seating to relax. The orange uniforms were funny and bright, but it made the place look more like a gym than a spa. There are themed rooms like an oxygen room, but they don't offer much. I was planning to eat at the restaurant since the website said it was open, but when I asked, the staff told me it had been closed for a while. Honestly, that was probably for the best because the space is so small that food smells would've been overwhelming. They do offer a few small items like shaving cream, a disposable razor, and a scrub, which is thoughtful, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality. Between the outdated facilities, safety hazards, and disappointing amenities, this place just isn't worth it. For the same price, I'd rather go to Joy Spa or Century Spa in Koreatown where you actually get what you pay for. Those places have better amenities, cleaner spaces, and real attention to comfort and safety. Pioneer Spa feels neglected, cramped, and uncomfortable. I left more tense than when I arrived and definitely won't be going back.

I miss this spa. It is very good the money and a decent size. Not too big and not too small.read more

Such a relaxing and peaceful entrance and overall atmosphere. We started with breath work which blew us away, at one point we felt like we were levitating it was so good (and comfy) and then went into the cold plunge, saunas, and hot tub. There was plenty of different types of saunas ranging from red light to two person, and a newer larger sauna. Just a complete serene and calming experience from end to end you forget that this place is someone's backyard. Our 90 minutes flew by, however we were not rushed out or felt hurried to leave. The sessions run about 90-minutes all together and they offer various package options from one-time sessions to more opportunities to return for free with the package. You can purchase and make appointments directly on their website as well as through ClassPass. When my friends and I arrived, we were welcomed by Ananta, who checked us in, had us sign waivers online and offered us tea. He led us in the breathwork session first, which was an invigorating yet relaxing experience at the same time. Immediately after the session, Ananta led us to the cold plunge where he gently encouraged us to dip in for about 2-minutes. The water was about 40 degrees and my feet were tingling and nearly numb by the time I got out. We did it though and it awakened our senses and got our blood circulating! We then, had the option of dipping in the hot tub or going in the saunas. I warmed up in the jacuzzi, then spent some time in the outdoor barrel steam sauna and infrared sauna. Before I knew it, our 90-minute session came to an end. They have showers for us to rinse off and I left with glowing skin and a lighter spirit. I will definitely be back for more healing and rejuvenation! Free street parking in the residential neighborhood.

I'm currently pregnant so a few weeks ago, I booked a prenatal massage online for today. It was originally scheduled for this morning. When I arrived, I thought the receptionists were already aware that I made a prenatal appointment. At 28 weeks, my bump is relatively small but it's there so I thought it was obvious lol. After I checked in, a massage therapist took me to a room and asked me the standard questions. I noticed that there wasn't a body pillow on the side of the table so I mentioned I was there for a prenatal massage. She had no idea and told me she wasn't licensed to work on pregnant clients so we went back to the front desk. I explained that I booked a prenatal massage online, but for some reason it showed as a regular one on their end. The only prenatal therapist they had this morning was already busy and the other person would be available in the evening. To clarify, I wasn't upset with the massage therapist who I met with initially and I actually felt relieved that she was honest about her certification. I was glad I could still get a massage today even though it got rescheduled for a later time. My massage therapist this evening was Joe and he was great! For anyone looking for a prenatal massage, I highly recommend him. He communicated with me throughout the session to make sure that I felt comfortable. My upper back has been bothering me lately and I recently started getting leg cramps. Joe really helped relieve my tension in those areas by applying my preferred amount of pressure. Despite the miscommunication this morning, I had a nice time. Next time I make an appointment here, I plan to book a prenatal massage by phone instead of on the website and I suggest that others do the same to avoid any confusion. I look forward to my next visit!

Booking online required creating an account, which I wasn't thrilled about, but no big deal. I did have trouble accessing my profile afterward, so I waited to complete the intake forms until I arrived for my appointment. On the day of, I was greeted warmly and offered water while I filled out the forms, which I appreciated. My massage therapist was also friendly and welcoming. I get massages regularly (about every other month) so I have a good sense of what to expect. The pressure was great and, overall, she was skilled. However, the reason I'm deducting a star is consistency. Certain areas received much more attention than others. For example, my left leg was worked on thoroughly, while my right leg felt rushed. This pattern continued on both sides of my body. I would've appreciated equal care and time throughout the entire massage. I came here because I had a gift card, and while the experience wasn't bad, I'll likely continue going to my usual massage spot moving forward.

From my personal experience after 3pm -9pm is the most packed times for this location. Before 1pm you should be good considering everyone is at school / work & those that are going after 9pm should be set as well because people do wake up early in the mornings so they have to sleep early. So the gym should be good at that time as well. As far as equipment goes they constantly keep up with broken down equipment it never really stays out of order for more than a few days if the machine is out of order or up for maintenance. This gym is really quick about turn around time for stuff like that compared to other gyms that let their members suffer by not repairing equipment fast enough. Only down side I would say to this gym is not enough 45lb plates. It's a pain to have to search for the plates but other than that the dumbbells go up to 150lbs which is great considering most commercial gyms cap out at 100lbs. The sauna is great too and not tiny so don't worry about having to be super close to someone in there. The gym stays clean and I will continue to come here.
