Finally tried this place after talking about it for 2 years! We called in an order, the girl who took our order was very friendly. We picked up our order, the gentleman working at the counter was very nice. We left very impressed by those two things, alone. Got our pizza home. We didn't eat it right away, when we finally ate, the pizza was luke warm. But I have to say, it was still one of the best pizzas I have ever had! The crust was deliciously seasoned and so soft! We just got a simple pepperoni pizza but it was perfect!! And to top it off, they have GOOD ranch!! I can't wait to have another slice for breakfast!! read more

First time here. I came to early last week. Glad I went back. I gave them a try today for dinner. Large pizza with extra cheese two toppings & wings that came with fries I didn't expect the french fries hot and ready all for $30. I found my new local neighborhood pizza establishment. I travel to Brooklyn Chicago, Los Angeles, Italy, and search for the finest pizza. glad I can say this company is one of Oklahoma finest. In the heartland of USA baby ! We hoped for more considering the high rating, but the pizza is overrated and overpriced for the low quality. It's a step up from Little Ceasar's, but not even up to Domino's quality. Classically styled, but toppings and mozzarella are low flavor, marinara just okay. Crust may be fresh but doesn't add anything, crust ends done up like bread sticks. Pepperoni not very pepperoni-y, mostly extra greasy and cheesy. Hawaiian pizza with too little Canadian bacon, and too much cheese. Cheese bread was even worse -- so thin and limp, it was bad. Oh well, at least their ranch dip was thick and creamy. But...I did find one gem here in the spicy cheese curds they introduced me to. The cayenne is strong in these, but if you can handle it, they are wonderful. But is it enough to bring me back from the opposite side of town? I also must take into account the great service and fine folks here. But the poorly done, ugly car parts/oily garage theme is another big strike (and my family enjoys cars and racing). It literally smelled like motor oil as we walked in (was it our imaginations?). So, the answer to the above question is a reluctant no. If you do decide to try it, stick exclusively to takeout and delivery like the locals do. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and I have to say Heavy D's is one of the best things I've found here so far. The people who work there are very friendly and you can see they really care about the customers and what they do. I'd rather support a place like this than a chain pizza place with mediocre food and minimal service. I could see from the moment I walked in that this place has character and I like places like this so I'll be back soon. The pizza is really tasty too. I tried the Nuts and Bolts pizza. There were several pizzas that sounded really good but I'd never eaten there before and sometimes with the less traditional pizzas I love being adventurous, but if it's a new place I don't always know what to expect. Based on the fairly normal pizza I had, and how delicious it was, 'd say they know what they're doing and I'd totally trust them that if I ordered some sort of off beat pie, it would taste great. I can't wait to try out more of their menu and call em up whenever I'm feeling too lazy to make dinner (which is quite often). read more

DELICIOUS AND AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was at an event downtown and got hungry. The only option was to order food for delivery. Problem: I don't trust those 3rd party delivery services. I called Heavy Ds Pizza based on their stellar reviews and 100% Sanitation Score. I spoke to a nice lady whose name is Taco (coolest name ever!) and asked her to tape up the box before giving it to DoorDash. She said she would and understood my concerns and she said they even do their own due diligence to make sure the drivers are not sketchy or have dogs with them. I was so relieved. THEN moments later she called me and told me the owner decided to take care of me and deliver my pizza HIMSELF! Sure enough he arrived soon after like a hero and delivered to me and my family/friends delicious, hot, yummy pizza! It was one of the nicest efforts I have experienced in OKC. I arrived at the time suggested, but the pizza was cold, so I was disappointed. I placed an order via the Yelp app, so there was some confusion when I picked it up since Grubhub actually fulfills it. But the staff was very kind about it and even apologized for the mix-up. I had the "spare parts." They advertised it as a better supreme pizza, but I have to disagree. The pizza had a traditional crust, thin and crunchy on the bottom. It smelled great when I picked it up. But overall, it didn't taste good. The crust was just bland. I saw a video of their XXXL pizza online and noticed how good their pizza looked. Ended up searching through their pictures and finding they had a pickle pizza! It was made with ranch and I got less cheese (personal preference) and grilled cheese. It was really good! I did use a little more ranch for dipping. I feel like ranch seeps more into the crust when cooked which is fine. It was yummy. The corn nuggets were so yummy I haven't had them in years. My husband said the pizza he had was really yummy. He said the cheese bread was amazing!!! The man who took our phone order and who helped my husband in store (assuming the owner) was really nice and helpful. First time eating here, and I have to say that the pizza was really good! We order the American muscle large, and for the price it was comparable to other pizzerias around town. Everyone enjoyed this pie. It was a great choice for dinner! We also got an order of mozzarella sticks they were OK. I think the main issue was that they got cold by the time I got home so they didn't have that gooey stringy mozzarella pull I usually love. Paper fry baskets for plates and paper towels at the table. Thimble sized portion cups that are one third full of parmesan. I used 5 of them and that added up to a teaspoon of parmsean. I called and ordered a pizza, fried okra, and some Buffalo wings while in town for my niece's wedding. Everything seemed to be going wrong with the preparation and details and I knew the mother of the bride was distressed, so I got some food and took it to her. We'd never been to Heavy D's before, so I knew I was taking a chance, but it was on the way. I ordered the Sunday Cruise, which they assured me was made with fresh roasted garlic and homemade Alfredo sauce. It was delicious!! I also got fried okra because - fried okra is always a comfort food. It was also delicious!! I added Buffalo wings, which are one of my own personal comfort foods, even though not one of my sister's. They were also delicious!! A big Thank You! to the wonderful people at Heavy D's for the scrumptious food and friendly conversation. (They also had World's Finest Chocolate bars for sale on the counter. Still $1, but a lot smaller than I remember and way less caramel inside, but a tasty morsel, nonetheless.) Everything was great!
