Been here twice and the surf and turf burrito is where it's at. They give nice big shrimp as well as a good position of steak. The burritos are big enough to cut in half and save some for later. The customer service has been top tier both times I was greeted with a smile and even though there's a line they don't rush you. It looks dark on the outside but it's nice and bright on the inside and very clean. They have a nice variety of sauces to choose from on their salsa bar and there is always someone constantly cleaning it and maintaining it. read more

Tacos are good we had asada , pollo, arrachera and cecina. Everything had good flavor and to be honest the arrachera was ok the asada was better. The only thing is I don't recommend the burrito the tortilla was gummy it was getting stuck on our teeth in each bite and the staff was over it. This place is delicious. This is like our third time coming here. Although the tacos are small, they're loaded with meat and the taste is delicious. I usually get asada, adobada, and chorizo. I've also tried the tortas and the La Papota. Honestly you can't go wrong. The aguas are good too. Prices are fair but they do charge a fee for paying with a card so bring cash if you can. This place is a hidden gem. We ordered the La Popapa which is a huge baked potato topped with like a fried cheese and meat. It was so big! Definitely enough for 2 meals and it was piping hot! They gave us complimentary grilled onions and peppers as well. The salsa bar has several different sauces and salsas. All were very very flavorful and ranged from mild to very hot. The reality to their promotion.......... expectations were higher since they promoted real guacamole, and it was never there. You have to prepare your own tacos, which is also a down for me, cause they serve just a plane taco and it doesn't look appealing. Guacamole is not given unless you pay an extra $5 for a side. I've visited Hecho Al Carbón in Riverside about four times since they first reopened. Early on, the service was good, though the restaurant still felt like it was finding its footing--no music, and some of the aguas frescas weren't quite there yet. I tried different waters each visit, but unfortunately none really stood out. I personally enjoy dining in so I can eat my tacos while they're warm, the restaurant and restrooms have always been clean, which I value, and I really appreciate their salsa and condiment bar, which lets you customize your food exactly how you like it. The tacos are a bit on the pricey side, but in my opinion, they're worth it--especially on Tuesdays with their classic meat promotion. Adding guacamole costs extra, which I didn't mind before since the portion was generous. I hadn't been back in a while, and one recent attempt didn't work out due to a very long line and no available seating. I decided to give it another try on January 6th between 9-10 pm, and unfortunately, that visit was disappointing. The service felt unwelcoming and somewhat stuck up, which is a big deal to me--kindness goes a long way, no matter the time of day. Another major letdown was the guacamole on the tacos. Although I paid extra, it was barely there and placed under the meat in a very small portion, nothing like before. I also gave the horchata another chance, but it still didn't hit the mark. On the plus side, they now have music, the restaurant was clean, the salsa bar is still available, and the tacos themselves are still delicious with a great portion of meat. I just wouldn't order the guacamole again. Overall, it's not all bad. Compared to other nearby spots, they still have the best tacos I've tried in the area. After seeing the advertisement on IG I had to see if all was as good as it seemed. After ordering we noticed an error on their shrimp tacos and brought it up with the staff who simply brushed it off with that's just our price. The menu advertised 9.90 for an OG taco which is shrimp, beef, grilled cheese, avocado sauce and onions and cilantro. What they gave us was shrimp onions cilantro and grilled cheese for 15.99!!! One taco! We decided to clarify once more and the manager said because it had shrimp that is was more than the OG taco that comes with shrimp already so not only did he double down he also said the price is not on the menu and then again offered no solution to the deception. My husband also ordered the Ribeye burrito and it was also very good. I liked that the Salsa bar had a verity of options and they also served us grilled onions and chile gueros.
