This is a sad review... Hector on Broadway is going downhill. They've gone a bit oregano crazy in the fish ceviche. This last time I got it delivered. They sent me two whole lemons. I was eating in a car. If they needed help, they should've at least sent a plastic knife! The shrimp in the taco was not clean, over cooked, and I found little burned pieces of something... the fish tacos are good still. They send you 1 tostada for the ceviche. They used to give you two. The one tostada for an 8oz cup of ceviche would've been fine if they would still send you the small bag of chips, but they don't send you those anymore :( I understand everything went up and I understand the prices but if I'm paying $7-8 for a taco with 4 rubbery shrimp that's not even clean, then I don't think it's worth it. read more

We stopped by at the recommendation of a friend when we were in town and in the mood for mariscos. The place was crowded, but were still seated immediately. The service was a bit slow and we did have to ask several times for things, but the food was on point. We ordered tacos de marlin, tacos gobernador, raw oysters, ceviche verde, and aguachile de salmon. My favorite had to be the tacos de gobernador!!! They were filled with shrimp and well balanced with cheese. I'd come back if I was back in town, but am now excited to find just as good if not better mariscos in the area. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The service was horrible, I arrived around 7pm and closing time is 9pm. They were sweeping in front of our table, cleaning and prepping for the next day instead of taking our orders. They took our order and forgot to mention one of items was not available no more. After ordering again they took 15 min to bring out our food and only because we reminded them. The waitresses are rude and not friendly at all they don't even bother to smile. When we received the check she added an item we didn't even order. Definitely don't recommend coming here, save your time and money! Horrible service. read more

Been coming here for years, my favorite mariscos restaurante. Pues aver por dónde empiezo. So I got the stuffed fish fillet. It was supposed to be stuffed with all types of stuff like bacon and marinated with Chipotle sauce and idk like 5 other things, I got it and when I was about to take a bite there was a giant fucking hair stuck to the food. Great. I usually don't trip but it was big af. So they took it back and I ordered the Chipotle shrimp instead, whatever. The waitress ended up coming back with Chipotle fish fillet. This place has really went down hill .Arrived Friday was offered inside seating g .They had Sticky dirty menus on the table COvid breading ground not to mention the table was dirty and felt sticky too They did nothing different to protect from COvid . To start the greeting is right away, the hostess sits you down and the waiters briskly right behind to get you situated, they bring what I think is their house made tortilla chips nice and warm with a homemade salsa that is ridiculously good! The food is phenomenal! The best almejas al popeye, it's clams in the shell with melted cheese, spinach, shrimp and a salsa they add, omfgosh! Must try!!! The kitchen on the other hand I don't know. We ordered a shrimp ceviche tostada, the shrimp had a weird taste. We ordered a campechana, seemed like they only put 2 shrimp, and 1/16 of an octopus leg, and the rest was vegetables. I taste ketchup more than anything. Last thing we ordered was 1 taco gobernador, tortilla was burnt (that's all I tasted). Only had 3 shrimps, and 2 small square slices of bell pepper and onion. The menu consists mainly of seafood type items. I ordered the seafood combo enchiladas. It has shrimp, crab and scallops. It comes with rice, beans, and salad. Before our meal was served, the waiter provided a cup of seafood consume. It was good and flavorful. Great way to start before main course. Our food arrived soon after. My meal was very good. Fresh seafood in my enchiladas. I chose the green sauce over my enchiladas. It's a mix of green pepper sauce in cream. Very good with the seafood. The rice and beans were good too. Nice clean dining area. Our waiter was nice and provided good service. Only slight minus is some menu items are a bit expensive for me. But most prices are in the upper moderate range. We usually go to the newer Hector's in Eastlake but we were close by and were in the mood for good seafood. First glance you will notice that this place is situated in an older small strip mall on Broadway. The restaurant is not very well maintained it is older and shows it. We were not deterred. We stayed and ordered a couple of Mexican beers and got a tray of fresh chips and salsa. The chips were made fresh and tasted great. The salsa was also fresh. Our meal arrived hot and delicious I had the Seafood Grilled plate which in hindsight was enough for two people to eat. My wife who is so much smarter than me ordered a Shrimp Cocktail and one Shrimp taco. The food was delicious and very nicely presented. The waitress was a little slow but nice and friendly. The price was unbelievably low. My beer was under $5 how cool is that and get this they have a Happy Hour with beer for less than $2!! Overall we had a nice dinner at a great price. Considering how bad this pandemic has affected most restaurant's bottom line. We can overlook the walls crying for a nice paint job. We need to support small businesses now more than ever. read more

My new go to spot for mariscos in San Diego County. Hector's has the best filete relleno de mariscos (stuffed fish) I've found in the 2 years since La Costa De Nayarit closed. I've tried places from San Francisco to San Ysidro trying to find a replacement for my favorite seafood dish and while a few others in the South Bay have been good this is my favorite version so far. This dish goes by different names: Filete Relleno De Mariscos, sometimes Campechana Filete, Stuffed Fish and one place for whatever reason called it " Don Toño ". Hector's calls the dish "stuffed fish" and what they stuff it with was something a lil non mariscos, BACON !!! Bacon actually goes perfect with the queso fresco, shrimp and butter sauce and seems like an obvious addition. I would've liked for it to have had a few scallops but it's delicious just the way it is so no complaining here. Another good thing about Hector's are their happy hour specials. I got the buy one beer and get the second one for 99cents deal but they also have Cadillac Margaritas specials for the ladies. Tried the aguachile tostada for an appetizer and it was good but what Im coming back for is their stuffed fish. Definitely worth the drive down to Chula 8) read more

My fave place for micheladas, Clamato drinks, tacos etc. Amazingballs crispy calamari the bomb! Que Rico ! Best Seafood soup !!!! love love love!!! i am dying to go back already!!! i was at a work thing all day friday...and for lunch we are out on our own...my coworker suggested his place...and his selling point was "my mom doesn't go out for mexican food...because she cooks mexican food...but she loves this place" i'm sold! when we got there he said that he recommends any of the shrimp dishes...he was going with the ranchero shrimp dish...i decided on the jalapeno style shrimp dish... we were brought chips and salsa...yummo! then i was surprised that our dish came with a fish soup...wow! that was a meal in itself...so tasty and satisfying on this chilly day. our meal arrived...i didn't taste my friends dish (we don't know each other that well)...but mine was spectacular!...i saved a few pieces of shrimp to take home to hubby to try. parking was easy... i had a giant glass of water (so big i didn't need a refill) service was quick and friendly... looking forward to a return visit. read more
