If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor.

Flavor bomb! The staff were efficient and effective handling orders and food prep. The food truck dynamic is standard across most. The lack of prices on the side was a bit frustrating, I prefer to decide on my food based on the prices. We ordered a gyro which came chock full of ingredients. I think the unique ingredient is banana peppers! Super good. The meat and sauces were flavorful. $14 for one of these seems a bit steep to me, but for a quick and easy lunch, I'd recommend it.

Hefty Gyro is my gyro! A gyro pita and a side of falafel at Food Truck Friday in Idlewild Park in Reno from a Sacramento food truck. The pita is warm and holds together the lamb meat, tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables just fine. It was a perfect pita wrap. The falafel was not made into patties it was more freeform chunks. Some were very crispy and others near to doughy. The taste was ok but texture off. A small cup of sauce would have helped. I enjoyed the meal but the falafel has to be in patties that cook evenly. The pita is worth another visit so stop by and try it or one of the other wonderful looking items on the menu.

Hefty Gyros was one of the food trucks at my work today that comes every Friday and I finally decided to check them out for lunch. I ordered the Chicken on Rice plate which is a HEFTY amount of food - it comes with rice, chicken, a salad, pita bread, hummus and even fries! Everything was nicely seasoned and you definitely get some bang for your buck! So filling! Service was friendly and quick! I can't really comment on the ambiance as it is a food truck, but you can tell their food is fresh and there was a longer line to order than the other food trucks that were around. I love Mediterranean food and I can definitely see myself ordering from them again!

So good! That's all you need to know. Everything on their menu was amazing, but their fries? Those were the main event right there! 10/10. Had the chance to try them at a work event and I honestly wished I lived closer to their pop areas so that I can enjoy it over and over again. The staff was super friendly and had great energy even with the mass amount of people they had coming to their window. I got the fries with a combo meat option and it was so loaded up you had a good bite each time. Can't wait for another opportunity to have their food again.

Every time they come to Travis Air Force Base with a food truck, I go to Hefty Gyros. Their Gyro Pita is fire. There fries are fire. Hummus is fire. Everything is so good and the customer service is great. Plus, the speed at which they make food is unheard of. 5 out of 5 and highly recommend!

They came to my work and had a preset menu. I asked for them to make me a salad instead of the fries, and they hooked it up. Had a couple bites of it and had to put down my phone to put this review in...the food is very tasty and better than what I expected. My salad had a good portion of protein and veggies, and the sauces and spices they drizzled it with definitely gave it the finishing touch!!! read more

We wanted to love this place- I went to a special event and this pre-arranged food truck was advertised. It arrived on time with just one person (the driver) working it- He had to take an order or two, cook and then fill the order before he started the next. Wait times for customers to place orders were (very) long and then again, we had a long wait to receive the order. This business was literally handed a ton of customers and they were ill prepared, or just didn't care- I'm not sure which. Food was so-so... maybe due to the long wait time, maybe not (?). It's hard to know for sure. Overall, a real disappointment. read more

First time trying this food truck, food came out fast and presentation of food was nicely put together. Owner of the food truck was nice, he gave me a baklava to eat and shared it was my coworkers. Overall, the hefty fries that I order was great, flavor of chicken was delish sauce complimented everything nicely. I would definitely order again, one thing I would ask for more is sauce on the side. I didn't give a 5 star because I wished the fries were freshly made, But I will definitely order from here again. read more

We had this food truck at the republic FC game and it was delicious! My sister got the hefty fries with chicken and a got a mix plate with chicken and falafel. The chicken was so flavorful and the falafels were super good too. I love that both plates came with pita bread. Everything was so tasty and I loved how spicy it was, if you like less spicy maybe ask for more tzatziki instead. Yummmm! read more

They came to one of the Elk Grove parks for Food in the Hood 916. There was only one guy taking all the orders and doing all the cooking at the same time but it was worth the wait. They give a lot of delicious food and the price isn't too bad. It might actually be cheaper than most Mediterranean restaurants. I ordered a Hefty Plate which was enough food for 2 meals. If they show up at another of these food truck events I definitely will try there other stuff. read more

I like to follow their Instagram @heftygyros to see where they will be and hope they are close to my area for the day so I can give them a visit. We just ordered the Gyro plate and the Gyros Sandwich-$34that is fine if the food is good-but it wasn't. I hate to give bad reviews but this is not Mediterranean food. The salad was the shredded kind you get in bags from high volume places-ummm ok. Not Greek. The rice was Mexican Rice ‍tasted like refried beans. My husband calls me the Sauce Queen, so you know I love my sauce! Usually I have to ask for extra but I knew they would take care of me, and the falafel gyro did not let me down! I swear to god this is the #1 thing I miss the most about living in Sacramento. I dream about the Hefty fries. Everything is so consistently and beautifully flavored from the meat to the rice to the homemade sauces. The entire team is so sweet, shoutout to Jamal, Trees, and Mushtaba who are always very helpful and I often find them working the Folsom Outlets. The service is quick and portions are massive!!! Hefty Gyros is SO good! They came out to a winery I was at and it was the perfect treat. I can't imagine anything they don't pair well with, but, holy moly, it was so nice to have something hardy during a day of drinking. When they're at the Folsom Outlet, I always make sure I order from them. Depending on when my lunch is. I always get the Mix Plate. I've never tasted anything like their food until almost a year ago, and I just keep going back. I was so happy to see them at the Easter Festival at E2 church. My whole family loved their food. Hefty Gyros no doubt lives up to its name. I ordered gyro over rice and the portion was huge! It was the perfect amount of meat, salad, and rice. And can I just say, I don't often eat rice, but even their rice was bomb. I'm pretty sure no grain was left behind. This place is worth the long lines, be sure to tip generously! read more

Food was phenomal! The chicken was tender , sauces were seasoned to perfection without any over powering taste . The rice was also cooked as if someone's grandma made it . I looked up the origin and it turns out Wushiland is a spin off from the Taiwanese boba chain 50嵐 (if you speak mandarin, it says Wushi Lan). Located on Sutterville in a tiny strip mall with minimal parking right next to the Freeport area where there are plenty of good eats, some of which are my favorite places in Sac to eat at, Wushiland is in an optimal location. Bright, clean, and with a decent amount of seating, you have the option to order from kiosks or up front at the counter. The AC was blowing cold and a nice respite from the El Niño heat. The workers are friendly and drinks are made quickly. Be advised that the drinks are voluminous, especially if you're like me and ask for less ice. Coming from someone who considers Chicha San Chen their favorite Taiwanese tea chain (but alas we don't have it in Sac), the difference in quantity is huge. Obviously if you're looking for a refined style of tea chain, Wushiland doesn't compare, but still the taste of their teas shine through and there is a good variety for everyone's palate. The first time I tried their earl grey tea because I have been craving an earl grey for a while, and that was deliciously smooth. The mini boba were so fun to chew on, and I usually prefer them over the regular size. They provide a ton of boba here as well. The next time I had their yakult green tea and that was very refreshing indeed. Both times my husband went with fruit teas, and had nice remarks to say about both of his drinks. He also tried their new QQubes and their texture was very QQ (I had a sample). We will most certainly return to Wushiland, especially since it's so accessible. Prices are standard, and honestly for the amount of tea you get, it's very worth.

Next time I'll try the early gray milk tea with the new qqube (mochi) topping. I just have to be feeling brave enough for the crowds here first.

I often go to food truck events seeking out new and great food. But sometimes its hard to figure out which ones i should get food from. so how does this truck stand out from the rest? When you first see the food truck, hefty gyros, you are automatically drawn to it. first off, there truck is a bright "fire engine red" color with contrasting bright pictures that are very clear and help you get a sense of fresh mouthwatering food before you have even order. The prices are also in a nice bold font so you can easily get a sense of what you are paying and compare prices before you get up to order. And the prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than many other gyro places i have been to, and cheaper than most other food trucks. When you get up to the truck to order you are immediately greeted by there friendly staff. If you have any questions about the food they are very helpful about explaining things, and helping you choose the best dish for your specific taste. I have actually tried every item on there menu... I love them all. When you receive your order... your once again greeted with a smile... and treated to a freshly made plate of food (or gyro) that is also i great size portion for the cheap price you pay. The sauce they use in the gyros is really great and just adds the right touch of added flavor and spice. I also love the lamb and rice plate. Was sooo excited to try their food for the first time today but was severely disappointed! I arrived 20 min after they opened at 4pm. By nearly 6pm I was still waiting in line JUST TO ORDER FOOD! They were concentrating mainly on online orders and leaving the long line of people waiting to order on the back burner. It was not fair because a lot of people were waiting in line before a lot of the online orders came in, but those online orders got their food first. The food truck should have either shut down in person orders or online orders. Because it was very clear that they could not handle both. As time went on, the crowd of online orders grew bigger and bigger. Which meant they were taking orders from my line slower and slower. It was literally only ONE order taken from my line every 12-15 min. Seeing that it would take over 2 hours for me to get my food and let alone order, I decided to leave and figure out a plan B dinner for my hungry family. I was excited for the food truck to come to my town because of the convenience. But over 2 hours for food?? I should have just driven to Falafal Guys in Yuba City. To whom it may be of use, Hefty Gyros is the best gyros i've ever had. I have had there food many times but today they finally stopped by my place of work. I tried there gyro pita with side fries at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove. I usually am a chicken on rice guy but i wanted to see what the hype was on the gyro. (Side Note there chicken and rice is AMAZING). As upon order the food was served in less than 2 minutes per usual. That is something I love about this truck, staff is super nice and quick. Usually when that happens at other places it comes with the cost of bad quality but the gyro and fries were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the gyro was at the perfect taste of tenderness. The sauce really was something otherworldly. It truly is a flavor bomb upon the first bite. The young gentlemen who helped me even added a baklava free of charge after recognizing me. All in all Hefty Gyros has always been top notch to my family and friends. Another Homerun Food truck in town: HEFTY GYROS. And Im giving them a solid and strong 4. A little different than traditional gyro where the meat is stacked and pressed on a huge skewer and cooked rotisserie style. HEFTY GYROS serves the same meats but cooked more individually instead of large skewer and thats understandable since you never know how many to expect at different locations. I ordered the biggest platter they had. 3 meats were lamb, chicken and beef. ALL were fantastic. Great taste and perfectly cooked. The tasiki sauce was mildly spicy but just right. The crew was friendly and it was cooked pretty fast. The only reason I rated it 4 Stars is because they didnt have any rice. I dont know if they forgot to bring it but it was early in the evening and Im sure they didnt run out yet. The least they could have done is lower the price a buck or two to make up for no rice. The guy at the window (I don't know his name, but it's always the same nice guy!) will take good care of you. So I get the pita gyro with lamb. The pita is thick and fresh, super delicious. This is soooo tasty! Literally beats any other gyro restaurant/food truck in the area, and let me tell you I've been to many (ex: Gyro2Go SacState, Shah's in Davis, Kabob and Gyro Grill, etc...) They never disappoint with the amount of food, taste of food, and CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are so friendly...One thing I cannot stand is for bad service (and obviously bad food), but their service is on point. If you were hesitant, I'm telling you to try them out and you will return! Luke and his guys took care of me last week at Food Truck Mania in Elk Grove last week. I had the Ultimate Gyro and it's hands down one of the best gyros I've ever had. From the pita bread, to the flavorful lamb and the creamy spicy sauce, Hefty Gyro is one of the top food trucks in the game. First time trying them out at The Berryessa Gap last night in Winters! Amazing food! The flavors were incredible! Hubby wasn't sure he was a Gyro fan or not, but quickly became one after tasting their amazing food. The owner was incredibly friendly and definitely wanted everyone's experience to be top notch! Wow! The first time I ate here, I had falafel. I've tried falafel at other restaurants and it's always dry. But the falafel at Hefty Gyro was crispy and delicious outside and warm and moist inside. A puffy cloud of yumminess! The next time I went, I had a chicken gyro. This was by far the best gyro I have ever had! But the best thing about Hefty Gyro, is the people. Everyone is smiling and friendly. I will go back AND I will recommend Hefty Gyro to everyone I know! read more

Hefty Gyros was a fantastic experience. They were catered for the company I work for and I have nothing but good things to say. Their customer service was absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful. They had the food made very quickly and very fresh. What I ordered were the Hefty Fries with Gyro and Chicken mix. The fries had sriracha with another sauce and banana peppers I believe. Do not hesitate to check them out and get some fantastic food. read more

I had the ultimate (no lamb) and split the special fries. I have heard great things about them but was nervous about it not living up to it. Let me tell you it did and more. Not over priced like some food trucks can be which was a nice surprise. It was more than delicious, it amazingly satisfying with just enough kick not to over power the flavor of everything else. Outstanding! Hefty Gyros exceeded my expectations. Today their food truck was downtown and I had an opportunity to try the food. I ordered the Hefty Fries Gyros and was pleasantly surprised by the large portion served. It look amazing and tasted even better. I can honestly say Hefty Gyros is one of the best gyro places in Sacramento. I'm from the East coast, I love gyros gyro cheese fry yummm. But Hefty Gyro pitta is to die for. I've been missing my East coast food so much. The taste of hefty gyros brings it home for me it's so flavorful. I follow these guys everywhere. I LOVE LOVEEE, HEFTY GRYOS! I would buy it over and over if I could. The first time I tried their food, was on 4th of July this yr 25. I literally fell in love with their food, it tastes so good. Then I got it again at one of these music festivals this month in oct. it still tastes amazing, I was so happy to eat it again. Food is absolutely amazing!!! My personal favorite is the chicken over rice plate. The chicken is nice and tender and once I taste the rice I can stop devouring it. The salad is nice and refreshing and overall it's a delicious meal and my favorite lunch spot. 10/10 recommend. Staff is always super polite and get my food to me quickly. You can also order ahead which is perfect if you're trying to avoid the lunch rush. read more

I LOVE Hefty Gyros. They started coming to our community a couple times a week, and I'm not ashamed to say I've had them at least once a week for the past month. Tonight I ordered the specialty fries and they forgot the tzatziki sauce and sriracha. When I went back, they were more than happy to add a lot of sauce, but even gave us some baklava. Highly recommend for great food and even greater service! read more

Grabbed a chicken pita & some baklava during Food Truck Thursdays in Antioch and I've got to say that the pita was so FIRE . 10/10 on flavor & spice level. Probably one of the best I've ever had & I look forward to trying more items from the menu, KEEP IT UP!!
