If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor.

Flavor bomb! The staff were efficient and effective handling orders and food prep. The food truck dynamic is standard across most. The lack of prices on the side was a bit frustrating, I prefer to decide on my food based on the prices. We ordered a gyro which came chock full of ingredients. I think the unique ingredient is banana peppers! Super good. The meat and sauces were flavorful. $14 for one of these seems a bit steep to me, but for a quick and easy lunch, I'd recommend it.

Quick and kind service, definitely worth the line. Gyro Pita - 9/10 Very nicely seasoned, salty and acidic combo works well. Good amount of food, even if messy. Peppercinis add a nice amount of heat.

Hefty Gyro is my gyro! A gyro pita and a side of falafel at Food Truck Friday in Idlewild Park in Reno from a Sacramento food truck. The pita is warm and holds together the lamb meat, tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables just fine. It was a perfect pita wrap. The falafel was not made into patties it was more freeform chunks. Some were very crispy and others near to doughy. The taste was ok but texture off. A small cup of sauce would have helped. I enjoyed the meal but the falafel has to be in patties that cook evenly. The pita is worth another visit so stop by and try it or one of the other wonderful looking items on the menu.

Hefty Gyros was one of the food trucks at my work today that comes every Friday and I finally decided to check them out for lunch. I ordered the Chicken on Rice plate which is a HEFTY amount of food - it comes with rice, chicken, a salad, pita bread, hummus and even fries! Everything was nicely seasoned and you definitely get some bang for your buck! So filling! Service was friendly and quick! I can't really comment on the ambiance as it is a food truck, but you can tell their food is fresh and there was a longer line to order than the other food trucks that were around. I love Mediterranean food and I can definitely see myself ordering from them again!

So good! That's all you need to know. Everything on their menu was amazing, but their fries? Those were the main event right there! 10/10. Had the chance to try them at a work event and I honestly wished I lived closer to their pop areas so that I can enjoy it over and over again. The staff was super friendly and had great energy even with the mass amount of people they had coming to their window. I got the fries with a combo meat option and it was so loaded up you had a good bite each time. Can't wait for another opportunity to have their food again.

Every time they come to Travis Air Force Base with a food truck, I go to Hefty Gyros. Their Gyro Pita is fire. There fries are fire. Hummus is fire. Everything is so good and the customer service is great. Plus, the speed at which they make food is unheard of. 5 out of 5 and highly recommend!

I was so excited to try this place, and finally got to have some from their food truck. They weren't lying when they said it's hefty lol. I got their Hefty gyro fries. The taste was on point, the fries were just right, and they added a pita on top. My only wish was that there was more meat. For the price it was, I wished they was more meat to compensate for the fries. I would def try this place again. read more

First time trying them out and since I wasn't sure what to get, thought I'd play it safe and try one thing: Their hefty fries. When in doubt, always try their signature or most popular dish. Got it with chicken. Took a while for the guy to make it but it was hot, fresh, and good. A bit spicy but it's good. All the flavors were well incorporated and the chicken was moist. I give the fries a 4.5. Looking forward to try other items off their menu in the future. read more

Wow! We have food truck Thursdays at the Cannery. We've always been meaning to come here and always forget. Well, my dinner took way longer to cook than I expected. It's still in the oven as I type this. My husband went and got the chicken, gyro, falafel on rice. So delicious. He had to go back and order another gyro on rice. Now we all have leftovers for tomorrow. We definitely will be back. The guy at the register is the sweetest. Hats off to the chef as well :) read more

This tried this food truck at the Marysville Bok Kai Parade and it is crazy good!! I had their Hefty Fries and regular Gyro and it didn't disappoint at all. There was so much food and talk about a taste bud explosion. The Ingredients they used were fresh and flavorful. I forgot to add that you can't enjoy the full perfection of the meal unless you get their strawberry lemonade to enjoy the entire experience. I fully intend to eat here everyone I see them. Went to a food truck event in my area and had to come back twice for their Hefty Fries and Mix plate. Both were so tasty and flavorful. There's a really good savory flavor coming from the sauces and seasonings they use. Very quick service too! Food came out very quickly and it didn't disappoint all three times. Hefty Gyros came to my work location in one of their food trucks. This is the first time I've tried their food and I was absolutely not disappointed. The server I spoke to was extremely polite and patient, and advised me on the differences between falafel and gyros so I could order what would satisfy me the most. The waiting time for the food was extremely short, probably 5 minutes or less. The portions they give are very filling, and they are very affordable. For a great price you can get a meal, a side, a dessert and a drink included. As someone who normally doesn't enjoy spicy foods, it tastes fantastic. I 100% recommend this fantastic food truck! read more

Had a chance to get some eats from Hefty Gyros at Food Truck Mania in Woodland and dang was it good! I ordered the Hefty Fries with gyro meat, it was a huge portion and killer delicious!! Loved the seasoning on the fries, all the sauces and the ample amount of gyro meat, it was big enough to share with friends. I can't wait to try a gyro or the falafel next time around, so yourself a favor, if you see Hefty's at an event get some grub from them you will not be disappointed!! read more

Great, mouth watering food, fast! Hefty Gyros Food Truck was parked at our community park for the evening. I got there late after work, not sure if they were wrapping up but it had to be hot in there because it was really hot outside. I got to the window and was nicely greeted with smiles and great service. I love fries so I had to try the ultimate fries. It normally comes with lamb and chicken but I was late so they were out of chicken. They nicely allowed me to sub falafel for the missing chicken so I can have variety, haha. Which I was so glad I did! Food came out hot, fresh and fast!!!! I hardly could post a story to IG before my food was ready. Love it! Got home, sat down and opened my box. I was met with a delicious aroma of fried goodness and juicy meat! YUM! It didn't take long before I started devouring the plate. I almost forgot I intended to share!!! The meat is chunky and juicy. Flavorful. The falafel are in patties, flattened, which I really like because that means more surface area for crunch. The crunch worked well to add to the crispy fries and contrast with the hunky meat and sauces. Mmmm. The sauces. The tzaziki sauce and spicy sauce together...makes my mouth water again thinking about them. To top it all off the peppers were a really good acidic touch. The Baklava is great too! Must have!!! So nutty and the perfect amount of sweet. It was a great way to end my meal. Thank you guys so much. If you ever see this truck, ORDER SOMETHING, anything. You'll be glad you did. Yum!!! So I finally made out to SAC town for work and was told about Food Truck Thursday in Roseville by one of my training instructors. When I pulled up, I saw a long line and knew this was the spot to be... I tried their combo which gives you an option for a main meal, a side and drink. I ordered their Gyro and side of hummus and it literally was ready by the time I paid. I decided to eat on the back of my trunk like a true LA Foodie.... As I write this review my mouth is literally salivating even though it's almost 8pm and I had lunch at 12. This was possibly the best gyro I've ever had.... everything was just cooked and dressed to perfection tender meat, tasty dressing... fresh lettuce you name it they did it so well... great portions and most of all just great service.... I literally want to move this truck to San Luis Obispo County and have them park at my house!!! Overall great meal and good job... the reviews are definitely true this place definitely deserves 5 stars..... will definitely be back to hunt this truck down read more

On 7/30/19 I visited hefty Gyros at The Barn Food Truck Night. I didn't know what to expect, since my gyro reference is one restaurant. The truck caught my attention since it reports to having high regards from yelp. Although they were pretty fast the line was so long it took some time to finally order. I ordered the ultimate fried and man oh man they delivered. It was a good amount, enough to make it your whole meal, this is the case everywhere so I'm pleased. This fry was topped with a lot of tasteful items such as 3 meats, sauce, peppers, etc. This meal got devoured in 3 minutes. The infusion of the different ingredients really meshed well. The fries were perfectly cooked, Golden brown, and better than McDonald's. Overall I gives this my stamp of approval read more

Luckily I wasn't in a rush and honestly the freshness was worth the slightly longer wait than I'm used to elsewhere. The ambiance is alright but I honestly don't think ambiance really matters for a fast casual place like this. They had Greek music playing which added to the restaurant's theme. Normally I'm not in the downtown area on weekdays for happy hour but I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it today. I'll definitely have to come back.

I looked up the origin and it turns out Wushiland is a spin off from the Taiwanese boba chain 50嵐 (if you speak mandarin, it says Wushi Lan). Located on Sutterville in a tiny strip mall with minimal parking right next to the Freeport area where there are plenty of good eats, some of which are my favorite places in Sac to eat at, Wushiland is in an optimal location. Bright, clean, and with a decent amount of seating, you have the option to order from kiosks or up front at the counter. The AC was blowing cold and a nice respite from the El Niño heat. The workers are friendly and drinks are made quickly. Be advised that the drinks are voluminous, especially if you're like me and ask for less ice. Coming from someone who considers Chicha San Chen their favorite Taiwanese tea chain (but alas we don't have it in Sac), the difference in quantity is huge. Obviously if you're looking for a refined style of tea chain, Wushiland doesn't compare, but still the taste of their teas shine through and there is a good variety for everyone's palate. The first time I tried their earl grey tea because I have been craving an earl grey for a while, and that was deliciously smooth. The mini boba were so fun to chew on, and I usually prefer them over the regular size. They provide a ton of boba here as well. The next time I had their yakult green tea and that was very refreshing indeed. Both times my husband went with fruit teas, and had nice remarks to say about both of his drinks. He also tried their new QQubes and their texture was very QQ (I had a sample). We will most certainly return to Wushiland, especially since it's so accessible. Also tried the brown sugar roasted oolong milk tea at 50% sweetness and with coconut jelly. The oolong flavor is nice and strong and the sweetness was perfect. Next time I'll try the early gray milk tea with the new qqube (mochi) topping. I just have to be feeling brave enough for the crowds here first.

I often go to food truck events seeking out new and great food. But sometimes its hard to figure out which ones i should get food from. so how does this truck stand out from the rest? When you first see the food truck, hefty gyros, you are automatically drawn to it. first off, there truck is a bright "fire engine red" color with contrasting bright pictures that are very clear and help you get a sense of fresh mouthwatering food before you have even order. The prices are also in a nice bold font so you can easily get a sense of what you are paying and compare prices before you get up to order. And the prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than many other gyro places i have been to, and cheaper than most other food trucks. When you get up to the truck to order you are immediately greeted by there friendly staff. If you have any questions about the food they are very helpful about explaining things, and helping you choose the best dish for your specific taste. I have actually tried every item on there menu... I love them all. When you receive your order... your once again greeted with a smile... and treated to a freshly made plate of food (or gyro) that is also i great size portion for the cheap price you pay. The sauce they use in the gyros is really great and just adds the right touch of added flavor and spice. I also love the lamb and rice plate. Was sooo excited to try their food for the first time today but was severely disappointed! I arrived 20 min after they opened at 4pm. By nearly 6pm I was still waiting in line JUST TO ORDER FOOD! They were concentrating mainly on online orders and leaving the long line of people waiting to order on the back burner. It was not fair because a lot of people were waiting in line before a lot of the online orders came in, but those online orders got their food first. The food truck should have either shut down in person orders or online orders. Because it was very clear that they could not handle both. As time went on, the crowd of online orders grew bigger and bigger. Which meant they were taking orders from my line slower and slower. It was literally only ONE order taken from my line every 12-15 min. Seeing that it would take over 2 hours for me to get my food and let alone order, I decided to leave and figure out a plan B dinner for my hungry family. I was excited for the food truck to come to my town because of the convenience. But over 2 hours for food?? I should have just driven to Falafal Guys in Yuba City. To whom it may be of use, Hefty Gyros is the best gyros i've ever had. I have had there food many times but today they finally stopped by my place of work. I tried there gyro pita with side fries at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove. I usually am a chicken on rice guy but i wanted to see what the hype was on the gyro. (Side Note there chicken and rice is AMAZING). As upon order the food was served in less than 2 minutes per usual. That is something I love about this truck, staff is super nice and quick. Usually when that happens at other places it comes with the cost of bad quality but the gyro and fries were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the gyro was at the perfect taste of tenderness. The sauce really was something otherworldly. It truly is a flavor bomb upon the first bite. The young gentlemen who helped me even added a baklava free of charge after recognizing me. All in all Hefty Gyros has always been top notch to my family and friends. Another Homerun Food truck in town: HEFTY GYROS. And Im giving them a solid and strong 4. A little different than traditional gyro where the meat is stacked and pressed on a huge skewer and cooked rotisserie style. HEFTY GYROS serves the same meats but cooked more individually instead of large skewer and thats understandable since you never know how many to expect at different locations. I ordered the biggest platter they had. 3 meats were lamb, chicken and beef. ALL were fantastic. Great taste and perfectly cooked. The tasiki sauce was mildly spicy but just right. The crew was friendly and it was cooked pretty fast. The only reason I rated it 4 Stars is because they didnt have any rice. I dont know if they forgot to bring it but it was early in the evening and Im sure they didnt run out yet. The least they could have done is lower the price a buck or two to make up for no rice. The guy at the window (I don't know his name, but it's always the same nice guy!) will take good care of you. So I get the pita gyro with lamb. The pita is thick and fresh, super delicious. This is soooo tasty! Literally beats any other gyro restaurant/food truck in the area, and let me tell you I've been to many (ex: Gyro2Go SacState, Shah's in Davis, Kabob and Gyro Grill, etc...) Wow! The first time I ate here, I had falafel. I've tried falafel at other restaurants and it's always dry. But the falafel at Hefty Gyro was crispy and delicious outside and warm and moist inside. Their customer service was absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful. They had the food made very quickly and very fresh. What I ordered were the Hefty Fries with Gyro and Chicken mix. I had the ultimate (no lamb) and split the special fries. I have heard great things about them but was nervous about it not living up to it. Let me tell you it did and more. Not over priced like some food trucks can be which was a nice surprise. It was more than delicious, it amazingly satisfying with just enough kick not to over power the flavor of everything else. Outstanding! Hefty Gyros exceeded my expectations. Today their food truck was downtown and I had an opportunity to try the food. I ordered the Hefty Fries Gyros and was pleasantly surprised by the large portion served. It look amazing and tasted even better. I can honestly say Hefty Gyros is one of the best gyro places in Sacramento. I'm from the East coast, I love gyros gyro cheese fry yummm. But Hefty Gyro pitta is to die for. I've been missing my East coast food so much. The taste of hefty gyros brings it home for me it's so flavorful. I follow these guys everywhere. I LOVE LOVEEE, HEFTY GRYOS! I would buy it over and over if I could. The first time I tried their food, was on 4th of July this yr 25. I literally fell in love with their food, it tastes so good. Then I got it again at one of these music festivals this month in oct. it still tastes amazing, I was so happy to eat it again. Food is absolutely amazing!!! My personal favorite is the chicken over rice plate. The chicken is nice and tender and once I taste the rice I can stop devouring it. The salad is nice and refreshing and overall it's a delicious meal and my favorite lunch spot. 10/10 recommend. Staff is always super polite and get my food to me quickly. You can also order ahead which is perfect if you're trying to avoid the lunch rush. read more

I LOVE Hefty Gyros. They started coming to our community a couple times a week, and I'm not ashamed to say I've had them at least once a week for the past month. Tonight I ordered the specialty fries and they forgot the tzatziki sauce and sriracha. When I went back, they were more than happy to add a lot of sauce, but even gave us some baklava. Grabbed a chicken pita & some baklava during Food Truck Thursdays in Antioch and I've got to say that the pita was so FIRE . 10/10 on flavor & spice level. Probably one of the best I've ever had & I look forward to trying more items from the menu, KEEP IT UP!!
